• An exception to avoid copy and paste code?

  There are many files in our project that would call a Facebook api. And the call is complicated, spanning usually 8 lines or more, just for the argument values. In this case, we can make it into a function, and place that function in a common_library.php, but doing so would just change the name of the function call from the Facebook API function to our name, and we still need to repeat the 8 lines of arguments. Each time, the call is very similar, but with slight variations to the argument values. In that case, would copy and paste be needed no matter what we do?

• Threading and pcap issues.

  I have a GUI program that allows a user a scan a network, the issue is that when the pcap_loop function is called, my GUI program becomes unresponsive.(the pcap_loop blocks the current thread).   Hi, I'm trying to migrate one of my PHP projects to Doctrine. I've never used it before so there are a few things I don't understand. In my current code, I have a class similar to this: class ScheduleItem { private Date start; //A PEAR Date object. private Date end; public function getStart() { return $this-start; } public function setStart($val) { $this-start = $val; } public function getEnd() { return $this-end; } public function setEnd($val) { $this-end= $val; } } I have a ScheduleItemDAO class with methods like save(), getByID(), etc. When loading from and saving to the database, the DAO class converts the Date objects to and from strings so they can be stored in a timestamp field. In my attempt to move to Doctrine, I created a new class like this: class ScheduleItem extends Doctrine_Record { public function setTableDefinition() { $this-hasColumn('start', 'timestamp'); $this-hasColumn('end', 'timestamp'); } } I had hoped I would be able to use Date objects for the start and end times, and have them converted to strings when they are saved to the database. How can I accomplish this?

  I want to pass constant references to functions in delphi, so I am sure that the referenced object won't change and to save time and memory. So I want to declare a function like function foo(var const Value : Bar) : Boolean; however this is not allowed. I thought constant values would be automatically sent as references. However I found out that it is not the case (getting the address of an object before sending it to the function gives me $12F50C and the address of the same object inside the function is $12F564) What can I do to send constant references?

As in this version colour themes are used to create a different colour in each pie chart (bulbble) in the function part I have the problem that it works depending on the paths to the colour paletts. Is there an easy way to make the function in a way that it works independently of those paths either by coding a colour for each pie chart segment or by using standardize paths (probably not possible, not preferable).   I have a Flash website template (four pages) that I made using AS 3.0 and Flash CS4. It is for an assignment involving movie clips. Currently on the main time line there is only one frame, and three layers: actions/menu/content. The actionscript on the main time line is simply: content_mc.stop (); There is a movie clip on the stage called “Content” that contains the content for each of the pages. Inside of that there is a “Menu” movie clip that contains and controls all of the navigation buttons. I watched the video on adobe : 1 hour to build your first program but i'm stuck : On the video it says that we have to provide a PHP class for accessing data and i used the example that flash builder gave (with zend framework and mysqli). I never used those ones and it makes a lot to learn if i count zen + mysqli. My question is : can i use a PHP class like this one ? • Assign click event to addon icon on navigation bar

  We have created a chrome extension for our app. Where we call a METHOD from a "js file" on CLICK event of the "extension icon" placed on the navigation bar. For this we use message passing between the app.js (file containing the METHOD to be called on icon click) and background.html (using a js file included in this html). The script used to pass message is:(from background.html) chrome.browserAction.onClicked.addListener(function (tab) { chrome.tabs.sendMessage(tab.id, "showPopup"); }); and to listen the message :(in app.js) chrome.extension.onMessage.addListener(function(request) { if (request === "showPopup") { showPopup(); } }); The click event works as expected. But now we want to do same thing in mozilla extension. and we can't pass message to app.js on the click of the icon,so that it can execute the containing methods. The leave event looks like: private void txtbox_startdate_Leave(object sender, EventArgs e) {} The trouble is of course if I try and call it in this manner: txtbox_startdate_Validating(sender, e) An error is raised because in this case 'e' is an EventArgs whereas the validation function wants a System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs and so, how do I convert EventArgs to a System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs or create one so that I can call my validation function? • Exception error in Erlang

  So I've been using Erlang for the last eight hours, and I've spent two of those banging my head against the keyboard trying to figure out the exception error my console keeps returning. I'm writing a dice program to learn erlang. I want it to be able to call from the console through the erlang interpreter. The program accepts a number of dice, and is supposed to generate a list of values. Each value is supposed to be between one and six. I won't bore you with the dozens of individual micro-changes I made to try and fix the problem (random engineering) but I'll post my code and the error. The Source: -module(dice2). -export([d6/1]). d6(1) - random:uniform(6); d6(Numdice) - Result = [], d6(Numdice, [Result]). d6(0, [Finalresult]) - {ok, [Finalresult]}; d6(Numdice, [Result]) - d6(Numdice - 1, [random:uniform(6) | Result]). When I run the program from my console like so... dice2:d6(1). ...I get a random number between one and six like expected. However when I run the same function with any number higher than one as an argument I get the following exception... **exception error: no function clause matching dice2:d6(1, [4|3]) ... I know I I don't have a function with matching arguments but I don't know how to write a function with variable arguments, and a variable number of arguments. I tried modifying the function in question like so.... d6(Numdice, [Result]) - Newresult = [random:uniform(6) | Result], d6(Numdice - 1, Newresult). ... but I got essentially the same error. Anyone know what is going on here?

My problem is that I need to format this UNIX timestamp into a format such as "1 day 3 hours 56 minutes and 3 seconds ago", while also doing all the incrementation and ajax calls. I'm not very experienced with jquery/javascript, so I might be missing something basic.
