  • detect where a redirect wants to go with jQuery

    - by Markus
Hi there, I have a page with a flash plugin. If I'm on that page, I don't want to post a message if the user wont to leaf it without saving it...: if(/containers/.test(document.location.href)){ window.onbeforeunload = function(){ return exit_text; }; } This works fine, except that I if i save the content in the flash plugin. In that case I don't want to show up that message. How can I detect the url within the onbeforeunload method? That way I can descide when to post the method! Thanks Markus

  • jQuery FadeTo() bg on rollover, IMG animate().width height

    - by jg462095
Hello all, I have been reading StackOverflow for a while and now I have a question I cannot find an answer to. i am trying to fade a background and increase on img size on rollover. I have tried animate() and fadeTo(), however, the entire div fades. Do I need to absolute position my images over the div and not within it? img or img? Is that the only way to get items within a div to not fade along with the background? Thanks! Jason

  • scrollTop with jQuery

    - by Narcís
I want a foot to be at the bottom of the page. But when the user makes the window smaller, the two divs come together, it would be better that begins the scroll and hides the foot. I don't know if I explain? I have the code life here: http://jsfiddle.net/mdAsn/ $(function(){ $(document).scroll(function(){ var topDistance = $('#foot').scrollTop(); if(topDistance >= 420){ $('#foot').css({position: 'absolute',bottom:'10px'}); } else{ $('#foot').css({position: 'absolute',top:'410px'}); } }); })

  • jQuery infinite loop w/ tablesorter

    - by Wells
Got myself in a funny situation: page has three tables. Using sortEnd, any time you sort one table, it sorts the other three. However, since I bound sortEnd to the function that does the sorting, you get a infinite loop of sorting/resorting. It looks like: $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({widgets: ['zebra']}).bind("sortEnd", function() { $(this).find("th.headerSortDown,.headerSortUp").each(function(i) { index = $(this).attr("cellIndex"); order = ($(this).is(".headerSortDown")) ? 1 : 0; $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({sortList: [[index, order]]}); }); }); Any tips on how to clean this up?

I have a table cell with 2 buttons in it. <td align="left" > <input type="button" value="edit"/> <input type="button" value="save" disabled="disabled"/> </td> By default save button is disabled. On the click of edit button, save button button must be enabled. The problem is i cannot assign id's to buttons since the table is dynamically generated using struts2 s:iterator tag. If i do there will be 2 or more cells with the same id How can I achieve this?

  • mvc partial views loses track of the images folder when using jquery

    - by jvelez
This is what I have and it works: $(function(){ $('.slide-out-div').tabSlideOut({ tabHandle: '.handle', //class of the element that will become your tab pathToTabImage: 'http://mhmiisdev2/images/contact_tab.gif', //path to the image for the tab //Optionally can be set using css imageHeight: '122px', //height of tab image //Optionally can be set using css imageWidth: '40px', //width of tab image //Optionally can be set using css tabLocation: 'right', //side of screen where tab lives, top, right, bottom, or left speed: 300, //speed of animation action: 'click', //options: 'click' or 'hover', action to trigger animation topPos: '200px', //position from the top/ use if tabLocation is left or right leftPos: '20px', //position from left/ use if tabLocation is bottom or top fixedPosition: true //options: true makes it stick(fixed position) on scroll }); }); This is what I want and it doesnt work when I change from one controller to another controller. NOTICE THE IMAGE PATH IS NOT ABSOLUTE $(function(){ $('.slide-out-div').tabSlideOut({ tabHandle: '.handle', //class of the element that will become your tab pathToTabImage: '/images/contact_tab.gif', //path to the image for the tab //Optionally can be set using css imageHeight: '122px', //height of tab image //Optionally can be set using css imageWidth: '40px', //width of tab image //Optionally can be set using css tabLocation: 'right', //side of screen where tab lives, top, right, bottom, or left speed: 300, //speed of animation action: 'click', //options: 'click' or 'hover', action to trigger animation topPos: '200px', //position from the top/ use if tabLocation is left or right leftPos: '20px', //position from left/ use if tabLocation is bottom or top fixedPosition: true //options: true makes it stick(fixed position) on scroll }); }); the html for completeness.... <div class="slide-out-div"> <a class="handle" href="http://link-for-non-js-users.html">Content</a> <h3>Medical Variance Reports</h3> <div> <ul> <li><a href="http://mhmssrs2/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?" target="_blank">Individual Medicines</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> I suspect somehow pathToTabImage: /images/contact_tab.gif' loses its context when browsing throught controllers. • jQuery Validation Plugin ErrorPlacement inside two different elements

    - by Andy Poquette
I'm trying to place separate error messages in separate elements when validating a large form. The form is divided into jQueryUI tabs, then accordions. When there is an error in an element of a tab, I want to append a red exclamation point to the name of the tab, and if the error is in an accordion element, I also want to append the red exclamation point to the name of the accordion element. Subsequently, when the errors are corrected, I would like those red ! to be removed (exactly as the error message beneath the invalid field is removed. So: Tab1 Tab2 Accordion1 Accordion2 Tab3 If the elements in accordion 2 have an error, I want to append a red ! to accordion2 and tab2: Tab1 Tab2! Accordion1 Accordion2! Tab3 Then remove when the elements successfully validate. I've been trying forever, but I can't figure out how to conditionally change the errorElement (a label won't work for the tab and accordion, but is perfect for the actual element)... Hopefully this makes sense, and thanks for any input you can provide.

  • jQuery - Wait until image loads before performing function

    - by Steven
I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. Here's my code: $(function() { $('img#image').attr("src", $('ul#thumbs li:first img').attr("src")); $('ul#thumbs li img').click(function() { $('img#image').fadeOut(700); var src = $(this).attr("src"); $('img#image').attr("src", src); $('img#image').fadeIn(700); }); }); <img id="image" src="" alt="" /> <ul id="thumbs"> <li><img src="/images/thumb1.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb2.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb3.png" /></li> </ul>

  • JQuery Dialog with constant aspect ratio

    - by David Semeria
I need to display an image in a resizable dialog (so far all the specific image popup libraries I have tried do not fit my needs). All I want to do is maintain the aspect ratio during resizing. Sounds easy, but it's not. I thought something like this might work, but no dice: var d = $("").dialog({title:title, width:400, height:400}); d.resizable( "option", "aspectRatio", true ); Any pointers greatly appreciated, tks

  • Temporarily Disallow JQuery Toggle

    - by Kevin Sylvestre
I have a menu that is toggled when a user selects a link. The menu has an animation attached, and I want to prevent toggling while the animation is running. The following snippet works, but flips the state of toggle if the link is clicked quickly twice (i.e. if the user clicks the link quickly twice, the next click will trigger the same action): <a href="" id="button">Menu</a> <div id="menu">...</a> <script> $("#button").toggle( function (e) { if $("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.show("slow"); }, function (e) { if ("#menu").is(":animated")) return false; $menu.hide("slow"); } ); </script> How can I prevent switching states within toggle? Thanks.

  • jquery .get/.post not working on ie 7 or 8, works fine in ff

    - by Samutz
I have basically this on a page: <script type="text/javascript"> function refresh_context() { $("#ajax-context").html("Searching..."); $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function(xml) { $("#ajax-context").html($("display", xml).text()); $("#context").val($("context", xml).text()); }, 'xml'); } $(document).ready(function() { $("#username").blur(refresh_context); }); </script> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" maxlength="255" value="" /> <input type="hidden" name="context" id="context" value=""/> <div id="ajax-context"></div> What it should do (and does fine on Firefox) is when you type a username in to the #username field, it will run /ajax/ldap_search.php?cn=$username, which searches our company's ldap for the username and returns it's raw context and a formatted version of the context like this: <result> <display>Staff -&gt; Accounting -&gt; John Smith</display> <context>cn=jsmith,ou=Accounting,ou=Staff,ou=Users,o=MyOrg</context> </result> The formatted version (display) goes to the div #ajax-context and goes to the hidden input #context. (Also, the - are actually - "& g t ;" (without spaces)). However, on IE the div stays stuck on "Searching..." and the hidden input value stays blank. I've tried both .get and .post and neither work. I'm sure it's failing on the .get because if I try this, I don't even get the alert: $.get("/ajax/ldap_search.php", {cn: $("#username").val()}, function() { alert("Check"); }); Also, IE doesn't give me any script errors. Edit: Added "$(document).ready(function() {", the .blur was already in it in my code, but I forgot to include that in my post. Edit 2: The request is being sent and apache2 is receiving it: 10.135.128.96 - - [01/May/2009:10:04:27 -0500] "GET /ajax/ldap_search.php?cn=i_typed_this_in_IE HTTP/1.1" 200 69

  • jQuery: How do I rewrite .after( content, content )?

    - by Evan Carroll
    I've got this form working, but according to my previous question it might not be supported: it isn't in the docs either way -- but the intention is pretty obvious in the code. $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ) , $('<span>OEM</span>') /*Notice this (a second) argument */ ); What this does is insert <div class="little check"> with a simple .click() callback, followed by a sibling of <span>OEM</span>. How else can I write this then? I'm having difficulty conjuring something working by chaining any combination of .after(), and .insertAfter()? I would expect this to work, but it doesn't: $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ).after ( $('<span>OEM</span>') ) ); I would also expect this to work, but it doesn't: $(".section.warranty .warranty_checks :last").after( $('<span>OEM</span>').insertAfter( $('<div class="little check" />').click( function () { alert('hi') } ) ); );

  • How do I get jquery & mootools to play nice?

    - by Vic
I've been using Mootools 1.2.4 as my JS framework of choice. I've added Checkout by Amazon to one of my pages, and they inject jQuery 1.2.6 into the page and messes up my dollar function (among other things). I have control over Mootools, but not jQuery. I would rather not rewrite my existing code to accomodate jQuery since Checkout by Amazon was an afterthought and plug-in element. Any thoughts or suggestions are recommended. Thanks!

  • load data from external file jQuery

    - by bah
Hi, I need to take data from external file and format it, the problem is, i want to have that data stored into a variable. Load method works for me, because i need to load not the whole document, but just a part of it, but then again, i want to load to variable and not to some dom element. $.get can do this, but it doesn't support selectors. Is there any way I could make this? Now examples: Mine external file consists of a table, which has format like this: <table><tr><td><img /></td></tr><tr><td><a></a></td><td><span></span></td></tr></table> I need to extract img, a and span tags because I need them to be displayed in different order than they're now. So, is there any chance for me that i could make this work? Thanks.

  • HTML and jQuery anchoring

    - by Wayne
Whenever the url contains the div id, it would obviously go down to the div when the URL has: http://domain.com.faq.php#1 <div id="1">Bla bla bla</div> But what I like is to have same feature of Stackoverflow, when you click on an answer in your messages, it will scroll down to the page and has that fadeOut effect on the answer. How do I do this?

  • jQuery DIV click, with anchors

    - by ANaimi
To make click-able divs, I do: <div class="clickable" url="http://google.com"> blah blah </div> and then $("div.clickable").click( function() { window.location = $(this).attr("url"); }); I don't know if this is the best way, but it works perfectly with me, except for one issue: If the div contains a click-able element, such as <a href="...">, and the user clicks on the hyperlink, both the hyperlink and div's-clickable are called This is especially a problem when the anchor tag is referring to a javascript AJAX function, which executes the AJAX function AND follows the link in the 'url' attribute of the div. Anyway around this?
