    Suppose, I want to record say poll choices by users everyday. In this case, i have a table named vote which has columns poll , choice and user-id . So how can i out the constraint (maybe in the django models or wherever possible) that poll and user-id both should not be the same for any entry but like the same user can vote for various different polls once and obviously various users can vote for the same poll. I hope I am clear.

    Hi, Is it possible to hold an open TCP connection with a client, while the IP address of the client is externally changed? For example, the connection is establishes against address X, but somewhen while the connection is open, the client-side user asks for IP renew and gets another IP address.     I found out this morning that proc.new works in a class initialize method, but not lambda. Concretely, I mean: class TestClass attr_reader :proc, :lambda def initialize @proc = Proc.new {puts "Hello from Proc"} @lambda = lambda {puts "Hello from lambda"} end end c = TestClass.new c.proc.call c.lambda.call In the above case, the result will be: Hello from Proc test.rb:14:in `<main>': undefined method `call' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) Why is that?     I have a test script like this: package Test; sub new { bless {} } sub DESTROY { print "in DESTROY\n" } package main; my $t = new Test; sleep 10; The destructor is called after sleep returns (and before the program terminates). But it's not called if the script is terminated with Ctrl-C. Is it possible to have the destructor called in this case also?

    Why when I try to access a variable that don't exist, javascript throw an exception but when I try to access a property that don't exist in an object, javascript returns an undefined object? But where it needs to be used, there aren't these thre fields in the web.config (this was expected, I've just added by hand for tests and developing).   • Additional concerns when compiling for x64

    I know that the additional consideratiosn when compiling for x64 is that some data types, like ints, can hold larger values. Are there any concerns? VS2010, released a few days ago, can support compiling for x64 and x32, just like VS2008. The app is x32/86 only. I keep thinking that the app needs to be 64 bit however. What am I missing? Obviously this is not the case. Thanks

    Hi! I have to deserialize a dictionary in PHP that was serialized using cPickle in Python. In this specific case I probably could just regexp the wanted information, but is there a better way? Any extensions for PHP that would allow me to deserialize more natively the whole dictionary? Apparently it is serialized in Python like this: import cPickle as pickle data = { 'user_id' : 5 } pickled = pickle.dumps(data) print pickled Contents of such serialization cannot be pasted easily to here, because it contains binary data.

Basically, if title or artist are present in the :conditions (or dynamically i.e. find_all_by_artist), then the WHERE artist = :artist should become WHERE UPPER(artist) = UPPER(:artist) or something along these lines. Is there a way of doing it with Rails?
