• Plone Active Directory group filter

  I am currently trying to configure the Plone LDAP plugin for Active directory. Thus far all is good and I’m getting users and groups through. The usage is for Cyn.In However the problem I’m facing is thus: The users search has the ability to filter, which is great. I can use the memberOf or department filter to just grab the users I want. However all our groups simply live in one OU, which means I’m getting over 30 pages of groups of which 99% are just not necessary. Sadly I don’t have control over our AD, so can’t just shift the ones I want into their own OU. Is there any way you can think of to also filter groups based on some kind of LDAP criteria?

• Temporarily Utilizing 304 Header on Apache for Crawlers

  I have a client who has a hosting arrangement with 400 customer sites all hosted through SuPHP in CGI mode on Apache. The sysop is now gone and the client is calling on me for rolling out a new PHP thing. Trouble is -- server load is very high right now and we have found that it's due to the crawlers. We had one customer in particular who complained of slow websites, and we engaged a 304 header plugin in his site against most crawlers, and his site perked right up. We'd like to lower that load by issuing a global 304 header to all the crawlers, letting human visitors through. I have a long list of user agent keywords to trap for. What's the best way to temporarily engage that global 304 header, while allowing human visitors to get right on through? I mean, I could roll out 400 .htaccess file changes, but it would be ideal to make this change in like one central Apache config and then it automatically affect all the sites at once.

• Issue varnish purge through CloudFlare to Varnish

  I've been working on this for a while and can't seem to find any solution. I have varnish sitting in front of my nginx server, with CloudFlare sitting in front. When I issue a curl -X PURGE host CloudFlare picks it up and of course denies it with a 503 error. If I use direct.host to bypass CloudFlare it hits the Varnish server and it accepts the request but it does nothing since direct.host isn't used so there is nothing in the cache for that url. I am using WordPress and there is a WordPress Varnish Purge plugin, it says to add the following line to wp-config.php: define('VHP_VARNISH_IP','127.0.0.1') This is specifically to work with proxy servers and/or CloudFlare to make sure the request goes to the Varnish server rather than CloudFlare, but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone see this before and have any idea?

  Hello All, I am curious to know what other folks out there might be using to keep the sudoers file in a sane manner. I am looking for a tool, that removes redundant entries, overlapping permissions and/or present sudoers file in a organized way(like sorting by permissions/users/Aliases). I use SVN and Confi Mgmt. tool to version control and deploy resp. Is there any add-on/plugin you would recommend/use? User_Alias RT1123 jappleseed, sjobs Host_Alias HOST_RT1123 wdc101.domain.com, wdc104.domain.com Cmnd_Alias ..... Our sudoers file is simple but a lot of entries and it needs to be cleaned up. • Get Pidgin Logs From Other Directory

  I'm using pidgin on both, windows and linux on several pc. To sync my log, I use dropbox. For linux, it's easy. Just a matter of symlink. However, I don't know how to sync it on windows, without manual copy-paste once I'm done on windows. So, is there any solution to my problem? pidgin plugin, maybe? • Where do SATA drives get their power when using a PCI SATA controller on oler PCs?

  I've been looking into PCI SATA controller cards online for an older PC and noticed that the ports only have the SATA cable connector and the Power supply does not have the SATA power connectors. I also had a few external eSATA drives which don't power up unless I also plugin the USB cable. Therefore I realize that SATA and eSATA do not carry power and need power else where. When converting older PCs to use a PCI SATA controller how do you provide power to the SATA drives? Anticipating the answer to be some kind of converter cable (which I was unable to search for) then can older power supplies handle added drives? (Assuming a 4 port SATA controller means 4 more drives the power supply has to endure). Or do you have to get a second poer supply and kinda jerry-rig it into an old case?

• How can I do a bulk caller ID lookup (reverse phone lookup) on a list of phone numbers?

  I have a tab-delimited text file with all of the phone numbers I've called or received calls from in the past year. The phone numbers are all based in the US, so the format is ###-###-####. For tax purposes, I need to know which calls were personal and which ones were business-related. I could enter them all one-by-one into Google, but that will take forever because there are hundreds of numbers to check. Is there a program, MS Office plugin, or website that I can use to look up all of the numbers at once? If not, is there some way to create an Excel macro to do the lookups for me?

• Overwrite archetypes in Maven

  Hello again! I'm having some trouble using Maven for my archetypes and I will need to overwrite some. I launch an instruction that does an archetype:generate in an archetype already existing directory. Is there a parameter that let's me overwrite existing archetypes? I have search the maven definitve guide but it states that the only parameters accepted are: -DgroupId -DartifactId -Dversion -DpackageName -DarchetypeGroupId -DarchetypeArtifactId -DarchetypeVersion -DinteractiveMode I could just search the directory and delete the files, but this proccess is going to be done automatically (so no human involved, no brains involved) and I wouldn't like he machine deleting things around. • How to tell Vim to extend the background color to the whole screen?

  I have an issue with the Vim color schemes: The background color does not fill the whole screen. For example, in the "blue" color scheme the whole screen should turn blue. Instead, the blue background only extends to the end of each line. Is this a setting in the console I'm missing or is this an issue with my vim default settings? I'm only having this issue with Ubuntu 10.10. echo $TERM outputs xterm-color. • Load website and fill form from the command line

  Using the Linux command line (Bash shell) I like to load a specific website in my browser (normally Firefox, but other one would be ok as well as long it runs under Linux) and fill a pre-defined form with some data. Actually, this should run from a Makefile. Most of the form data is static and will be stored as variables in the Makefile, just some fields are to be filled manually before manually sending the form. I know how to load the website in question from the command line using: firefox <URL> But there seems no possibility to fill the form automatically with variables given on the command line. Is there a plugin, executable or JavaScript which allows me to do this? Any suggestions and hints are welcome. I don't mind coding some JavaScript.

  I was wondering if there was a unix daemon available that would be capable of something like this: admin adds an IP entry to a DB; daemon finds change after wait interval and manipulates ifconfig/config files I was thinking maybe there is a plugin for cfengine that might be able to do this, but I couldn't find any. I mean this would be a fairly easy thing to script up in perl, but why re-invent the wheel if theres already something out there that is better than what my limited programming abilities can make. Lastly, if it worked on FreeBSD that'd be great.

• Is there a diff utility that allows you to exclude columns?

  For example, I have a text file, each line is a long string. I want to exclude 2 "segments" of this string, say columns 1-7 and 20-22. So the bottom 2 lines below would be a match: 123456789012345678901234567890 ------------------------------ xxxxxxxAAAAAAAAAAAAxxxBBBBBBBB yyyyyyyAAAAAAAAAAAAyyyBBBBBBBB I know WinMerge has a "IgnoreColumns" plugin but I have never go this working. In this example I would rename it IgnoreColumns_1-7, 20-22.dll, select it in the plugins menu, and choose "Pre-Differ." but it has never worked. I am going to be comparing huge files that I don't want to modify. I'm not opposed to stream editing them in the comparison with sed or something like that, but I would prefer not to modify the actual files. I have not chose to feed sed to diff yet just because I was hoping for for a more visual view of the data.

• Make Sure Outlook Loads All the Plugins

  My antivirus ( ESET) hanged some day ago, and that brought down its outlook plugin as a result. So when I tried to launch outlook, I would get a message, saying that outlook cannot launch. After I did this a few times, the outlook asked me whether agree to disable all the plugins, which I clicked yes. The problem now is that after I restart my pc, ESET is working fine, but the Outlook is no longer loading any of my plugins. Is there anyway to tell OUtlook to load the plugins?

  Where do I find statistics about how IO is divided between zfs datasets? (zpool iostat only tells me how much IO a pool is experiencing.) All the relevant datasets are used through NFS, so I'd be happy with per export NFS IO statistics also. • Adding JBoss repository to m2eclipse, no latest Hibernate version

  I'm trying to add JBoss repository to m2eclipse, mainly for Hibernate. It seems to work, but it can't find the latest version of Hibernate (3.5.1), only 3.5.0beta. I looked at some other packages, and they all seem a couple of months behind. What could be causing this? I'm running latest m2eclipse, and i guess latest Eclipse (it just says 20100218-1602, eclipse people think it's funny to not include version in the about dialog), on ubuntu 9.10. • path problem with mod_rewrite, XDebug, PDT, XAMPP and Windows XP

  My mod_rewrite turns accounts/create into index.php?folder=accounts&action=create, but pdt ignores it, so when I try to start a PHP Script debug session, I have to type a folder location in the file field and pdt doesn't accept. When PDT auto generates the URL for the PHP Web Page debug session, I go to http://localhost/myframe/index.php?XDEBUG%5FSESSION%5FSTART=ECLIPSE%5FDBGP&KEY=12569067976875, but myframe is in the frameworks folder, so I get a 404 error. When I check a breakpoint, uncheck Auto Generate, add frameworks before myframe in URL, set Start Debug from http://localhost/frameworks/myframe/accounts/create in Advanced and click Debug, the debugger doesn't stop at the breakpoint.

• More outlook VSTO help...

  I posted an article here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1095195/how-do-i-set-permissions-on-my-vsto-outlook-add-in) and I was able to build my installer. I thought that once the installer built itself, everything would work fine. I was wrong. It works on about half of the PC's I've run the installer on. My problem is that the other half doesn't work. I'm trying to install an add-in to Outlook Office 2003. I've even gone so far as to create the steps manually by using a batch file. Nothing seems to work on these PCs and I can't find a common denominator that I can rule out or in that will make the VSTO Addin work. Here is the batch file I am using. What am I doing/not-doing wrong with this? I could really use a VSTO expert's help. Thanks!!!! EDIT I've changed the batch file and registry settings to reflect recent updates to them. • Connect to SVN repository with Netbeans using SVN+SSH

  Hello all, I am trying to connect to a SVN server in order to import my project into it with svn+ssh authentication method. I am using the NetBeans IDE (6.8) with subversion plugin installed on Windows XP SP2. I have plink installed with its path set in the Windows PATH env variable. When I use the similar looking repository URL (XXXX and YYYY replaced with sensible things) svn+ssh://XXXX@YYYY/home/dce/svn/trunk along with this external tunnel command plink -l <myUserName> -i C:\\privateKey.ppk I keep getting this error: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Network connection closed unexpectedly I searched about it on the Internet and tried many things but didn't work out. Please help if anybody has some idea what may be going wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

• cannot load windows media within firefox browser

  Hi all, I recently re-installed windows and everything on it and besides this one issue everything is working much smoother again... the only problem is that I cannot load windows media content (for example *.asx) within my firefox browser. If i go to a page which embeds such streaming media, the media player never loads, and if i type the full url to the asx in the address bar, nothing loads. • Linux: close a program with command line (not kill it)

  Some applications only allow one running instance (like eclipse, if you want to use the same workspace). So if I log in from another location, I have to kill/close the application that was open when I previously logged in from another location. I always use kill command to kill the running process. But, if you kill a process, it might not save some states that are useful for future usage. However, if you "close" it properly byclicking on the close button, for example, it will save the states properly. Is there a way to properly "close" an application from command line? I know this can vary from applications, so let's be a bit more generic: how to send a signal to another running application, and this signal works just as if we click the "close" button in the top bar? thanks!

  Cheers! I dislike disobedience from my system. When I want to explicitly kill Nautilus with kill or killall, I am no longer able to do so. Previously I could disable this erroneous behavior (which even Windows do not exhibit!) through gnome-session-properties, however, it is no longer possible to set the "restart style" there (or whatever it was called). What is nowadays the correct way to disable nautilus autorestart under gnome? Reasons: I'm writing a piece of software that's painting directly into X11 root window. Nautilus is interfering. Compiz has a wallpapers plugin which Nautilus is painting over.

It shows the name of the author beside each consecutive message. e.g. joce: Hey joce: Long time no see! joce: How are you? Bob: Hey! Bob: Indeed! Instead of (as it is in GTalk): joce: Hey Long time no see! How are you? bob: Hey! Indeed! Is there a setting that I've missed or a plugin that could do that for me?

• Xcode/iPhone Development 6 months in - Annoyances

  Hi I've been iPhone programming for 6 months and come from a PC/Java/Eclipse background and still have a few annoyances with Xcode/iPhone programming I wonder are there any shortcuts to. Is there any way to prevent multiple windows opening all the time in XCode? a) When you click on the Errors/Warnings in the bottom right of the status bar build errors are shown in separate window. Any way to get these to show in the main editor? b) Anyway to get debugger to appear in main editor. I have a big screen iMac and it's still window hell on Macs. When you come from Alt-Tab the Mac is a nightmare. 2) Anyway to get a toolbar item on the main editor to: a) Open Console (I know CMD-thingy-R) b) Open Break points (you have to open Debugger first then breakpoints) I know there's keyboard shortcuts but I have only left hand free others on the trackball so any keys on right hand side of keyboard are too far. I know you can add Finder toolbar scripts (just wondering if anyway to extend Xcode). Are there utilities to extend Xcode? Scripts/Automator/Any Services I can setup to help. Can you automate Xcode like you can with Windows/ActiveX/VBA 3) Limit lookups using CMD + double click. If I double click on a variable to find its definition using CMD + double click it shows every occurrence of all variables with that name. (annoying it you name all you maps mapView) Anyway to get it to limit to the current class or at least order so current class is first. 4) Find doesn't seem to loop backwards if result all above cursor position I'm in a class and I hit CMD + F for find. Find box appears. I enter some text hit return. It says I have x matches but only back arrow is highlight in Find But when I hit < it does nothing. I need to scroll to the top and redo the search. If the text is both forwards and backwards then both < are highlighted and it works. is this a bug or a 'feature' Missing Eclipse features I have been looking at the User Script menu but was wondering how powerful they are? 5) any scripts around to generate source from members such as description: @property @synthesize if I add a new member, run a script will generate @property/@syntesize and release in dealloc 7) any good sites for scripts? SCM Im having problems with SCM and Folders on HD under project Classes directory. You get a library e.g. JSON. It usually comes as a folder. You copy it to the /Classes for your project. /Classes/JSON I create a Group for the Library in Xcode under Classes group. Classes JSON I drag the files from the folder into xcode into the JSON Group. I add them to the SCM and icon changes from ? to A but if I try and commit them it say folder /JSON is not under SCM. Can you drag a folder into Xcode so that it AND its files get included in SCM? Anyway to stop Xcode Help from being on top all the time. I keep feeling like punching it and telling it to get out of the way! :) I dont mind it open just not in the way once I've finished.
