• Drawing Shapes in Flex 4/AS3 addchild issues

  Hi All, I am simply trying to draw a rectangle inside of a panel using flex4. I am using spark instead of mx. It complains about addchild being replaced by addelement; however, addelement expects type ivisualcomponent. I think sprite should be of that type; however, it reports an error when trying to use the below code... I have tried a few different ways. I think I am missing something very basic about flex 4. • CSS positioning breaks in Safari

  Hi all, i have a website in which i am trying to position (using CSS) a certain on the page. the is absolutely positioned and is located inside a relatively positioned paernt . on firefox and even IE it looks ok but on Safari, things get messy and it shows 5 pixels lower than it should. i have tried to figure out for days now what is wrong there but cannot seem to see it. you can find an example link to the problematic page here: http://yaronattar.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=117:the-new-lovers-2010&catid=51:the-new-lovers-2010&Itemid=242 the problematic is the one conaining the "previous/next" navigation at the bottom right corner of the page. anyone sees what is causing the trouble here? thanks

  I'm writing a function to produce time series plots of stock prices. However, I'm getting the following error "Error in df[, 7] : object of type 'closure' is not subsettable" Here's an example of the function: plot.prices <- function(df) { require(ggplot2) g <- ggplot(df, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= df[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) # ... code not shown... g } And example data: spy <- read.csv(file= 'http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=SPY&d=11&e=1&f=2012&g=d&a=0&b=29&c=1993&ignore=.csv', header= T) plot.prices(spy) # produces error ggplot(spy, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= spy[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) ## does not produce error As you can see, the code is identical. I get an error if the call to ggplot() is INSIDE the function but not if the call to ggplot() is OUTSIDE the function. Anyone have any idea why the seeming contradiction?

• How do I make UITableViewCell's ImageView a fixed size even when the image is smaller.

  I have a bunch of images I am using for cell's image views, they are all no bigger than 50x50. e.g. 40x50, 50x32, 20x37 ..... When I load the table view, the text doesn't line up because the width of the images varies. Also I would like small images to appear in the centre as opposed to on the left. Here is the code I am trying inside my 'cellForRowAtIndexPath' method cell.imageView.autoresizingMask = ( UIViewAutoresizingNone ); cell.imageView.autoresizesSubviews = NO; cell.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeCenter; cell.imageView.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageWithData: imageData]; As you can see I have tried a few things, but none of them work.

  Hello, I am developing a Silverlight client using the provided navigation template for an imageboard I developed. I have a "search" tab which lists all searches for tags which were executed. I also have a show post tab which shows (also in tab-form) posts, opened from the search tab. When I open a post from the search page, it instanciates a new control (of type UserControl) and inserts this into the ShowPost page's tabcontrol. When I switch (or get switched) to the Show Post view the layout is all messed up. The UserControl inside the tab does not stretch in the tab. When I switch tabs back and forth this is strangely fixed. The reason seems to be that the user control gets created there but has no layout to "fit to" until said layout is opened, which is too late then. • Unix [Homework]: Get a list of /home/user/ directories in /etc/passwd

  I'm very new to Unix, and currently taking a class learning the basics of the system and its commands. I'm looking for a single command line to list off all of the user home directories in alphabetical order from the /etc/passwd directory. This applies only to the home directories, and not the contents within them. There should be no duplicate entries. I've tried many permutations of commands such as the following: sort -d | find /etc/passwd /home/* -type -d | uniq | less I've tried using -path, -name, removing -type, using -prune, and changing the search pattern to things like /home/*/$, but haven't gotten good results once. At best I can get a list of my own directory (complete with every directory inside it, which is bad), and the directories of the other students on the server (without the contained directories, which is good). I just can't get it to display the /home/user directories and nothing else for my own account. Many thanks in advance.

  I'm trying to get a list of the groups that are in an AD group using .NET. As an example, I have a group called TestGroup and inside that group I have the group DomainAdministrators. Using the code below I can get all of the users including those from the DomainAdministrators group but not the group itself. • Why does CLLocationManager returns null locations on the iphone SDK 4 beta in the Simulator?

  Hi everyone, I have this piece of code: - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { NSLog(@"Manager did update location!!"); self.currentLocation = newLocation.description; } I have this code inside a class that conforms to the CLLocationManagerDelegate. I tested earlier in sdk 3.0 and works nice (on both simulator and device). I'm testing this class on the SDK 4, in the simulator, but it gives null as a newLocation. I can't even get the NSLog for the first call. I checked other app where I use the location framework and it doesn't work either. I implemented the locationManager:didFailWithError: message also, wich is never called. Can anyone please confirm that the simulator can't do any CLLocationManager capabilities? (a link where the bug is reported as a known issue will be awesome). Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I am writing a Autohotkey script that need to 'check' and 'uncheck' checkboxes defined inside a listViewControl. I think the way to do it is using a SendMessage to the listview (or maybe to the listview item itself?) using the LVM_SETITEMSTATE parameter but i don't know the exact format...anyone have any idea? SendMessage, LVM_SETITEMSTATE, 1000, SysListView321 i think that 1000 means that the checkbox will be checked and 2000 means that he will be unchecked. do i need to do a loop for each ListViewItem? I had also tried to use the LV_Modify(0, "+Checked") But it doesnt seems to work also. To emphasize the problem, I am not creating my own List View, i'm trying to manipulate the state of an exisiting application ListView.... (i'm running an installer and using the AutoHotKey script i press the next buttons on each of the screens, but in this screen i need to first select all the components and only then move to the next screen) Any AutoHotKey Experts in here?

I am controller this view with a viewController subclass but I don't know how to manage my tableView. I don't know where put the methods : - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath should i add them to my ViewController or should i create a new subclass of UITableViewController (and get them "for free") and set the dataSource and delegate of my tableView to that class when I create it programmatically? • PropertyGrid PaintValue problem: How to remove (and paint outside) the standard rectangle?

  This might be a straightforward question, even though I haven't found an easy solution to it: I've implemented my custom UITypeEditor with the sole purpose of adding a PaintValue to bools. For the sake of the discussion, let's assume that PaintValue will either paint a checked or unchecked radiobutton. Question 1: Now, here's the problem: It seems like PaintValue automatically inserts a 20x13px rectangle after all paint code has completed. Naturally, a radiobutton inside a black rectangle is ugly. Can I easily instruct or override this rectagle not to be painted? Question 2: In this respect, is it possible to paint on top of the propertygrid's native look - meaning could I paint something in order to obscure (part of) the black line separating two grid cells vertically? The purpose of doing this would be to indicate that two values were linked, like constrained width/height to an aspect ratio.

  I am attempting to get a UIGestureRecognizer working with a UIWebview which is a subview of a UIScrollView. This sounds odd but when I have the numberOfTouchesRequired set to 2 the selector fires, but when numberOfTouchesRequired is set to one the selector doesn't fire. • jQuery partial page refresh after form submit

  When using jQuery to submit a form is it possible to place the resulting page (after the submit) inside another HTML element? I'll try to make this clearer. Up to now I've been using Callback methods that among others do a document.forms['form'].submit(); whenever a form has been updated with new information and needs to be refreshed. However, this results in a full page refresh. I'm implementing Partial Page Refresh using jQuery and thought of using something like var newContent = jQuery('#form').submit(); jQuery('#div').load(newContent); However, that does not seem to work as the page is still fully refreshed. The content is correct, however the behaviour seems to be exactly the same as before - so I'm not really sure if what I want is actually possible with jQuery. Any hints and pointers would be helpful.   Hello, I have a fairly simple question about these 2 templating engines. I'm trying to make a future/paste date, a fixed time from now, e.g. 18 months ago, or tomorrow. I know that it is possible to do this with a java date object inside a velocity/freemarker template (something like $date.add(2,-18)), but I would like to do this with DateTool or freemarker core. This is something that I see as purely presentational (just think at the default dates you see in flight booking forms), so I can't see any reason why a templating engine shouldn't be able to do this. Is it possible though? If so, how?

• NSTableView and NSSearchField in an NSView, which is the outlet of an NSMenuItem, don't work

  I'm having an NSView, which is set as the view: outlet of an NSMenuItem. The view contains an NSTableView (inside an NSScrollView) and an NSSearchField. The NSMenu is shown when the user clicks a specific NSStatusItem. When I launch the application from Xcode (Build and Run), the controls behave well, but whenever I launch it from the Finder (like the users would), they don't work and don't take any focus. My application is an LSUIElement. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

• Javascript Back Button - Stop back from closing window

  How do I get the "back" button seen in my demo to NOT close the browser window? If this can't be prevented, then at least provide them with a confirmation box alerting them the window is trying to close and ask them if they want to continue. I'm using a javascript back button link and forward button link to control the user's history inside a modal/lightbox window. Here's a demo of what is happening... When you begin, the second page will have a link to the modal window, so click that, then click the "back" button in the window as it will take you BACK to the start page. • SQL Server 2005 sp_send_dbmail

  Hi Friends, When we use sp_send_dbmail to send email with attachment, the attachment gets copied into a folder inside C:\Windows\Temp. As we have many emails to be sent every day, the temp folder grows rapidly. This is the case with SQL Server 2005. We noticed that, with SQL Server 2008, we dont see these file under temp folder. Is there any setting to turn the above behavior off? Does SQL Server 2008 store the files in any other folder and not in temp? Appreciate your help and time. Thanks.

• Include path of php.ini ignored by Eclipse

  Hi all, I have a PHP script to run. If I run it from the command line, it works fine (include path is set correctly). If I want to run it inside Eclipse (Run as script), then the PHP include path of my php.ini is replaced by Eclipse, with all the libraries I've added to the project. I've configured my PHP executable in Eclipse. I've set the correct PHP executable file, and I selected my php.ini file too (the right one, I've checked). But it is ignored... Help please !

I press the button and get access to both text fields. • How get Tomahawk functionality with JSF 2.0 (Glassfish V3)

  I've started to upgrade an existing application written with JSF 1.1 and MyFaces Tomahawk 1.1 to JSF 2.0 to get facelets etc. I've now run into the snag that apparently Tomahawk is not JSF 2.0 compatible as it expects the stand-alone version of Facelets instead of the built-in to JSF 2.0 with the following error: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: com.sun.faces.config.ConfigurationException: CONFIGURATION FAILED! com.sun.facelets.tag.jsf.ComponentHandler (it appears to be placed in javax.faces.view.facelets now). I have looked around and there doesn't seem to be a JSF 2.0 facelet compatible version of Tomahawk. I only believe I need t:updateActionListener (inside t:dataTable) and the rowSpan facility of t:panelGroup. Is all this functionality available in JSF 2.0 directly, or must I locate a new library giving this? Any suggestions?

• Error when using TransformToAncestor: "The specified Visual is not an ancestor of this Visual."

  I'm trying to get the offset of a control relative to the top of its window, but I'm running into trouble when using the TransformToAncestor method of the control. Note: this code is in a value converter which will convert from a control to its relative Y position in relation to the window. public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { var ctrl = (Control) value; var win = Window.GetWindow(ctrl); var transform = ctrl.TransformToAncestor(win); // Exception thrown here. var pt = transform.Transform(new Point(0, 0)); return pt.Y; } The call to Window.GetWindow works just fine, and returns the correct window object inside which the control resides. Am I misunderstanding what WPF thinks of as an "ancestor"? I would think that given the result of GetWindow, that window would be an ancestor of the control. Are there certain nesting patters that would cause the line of ancestry to be cut off at a certain point?

• Flash CS4 <b> tag in with htmlText

  Wow, this one is really weird. I have the following setup: Two textfields on the stage with Arial normal and Arial bold, both embedded. I then have another textfield which I am setting like so: tb.htmlText = "Test <b>Test</b>"; For some reason, the bold text is not displaying as bold, but as regular weight. I have tried embedding the fonts in the library, using the [Embed] meta tag and even resorted to using CSS to force the fontFamily. Weirdly, I can use Font.enumurateFonts and see both fonts are embedded, but the textfield refused to use the bold version inside the < b tags. I've been told this is a problem with Flash CS4 on a mac and that it will work on PC. I refuse to believe this is the case, however. Surely Adobe would have fixed this by now? Any help would be appreciated.
