    I have a NFS Server: usanfsd01 And a remote machine: usafssd01 I tried mounting a directory from usafssd01 onto usanfsd01 by adding the following line to /etc/fstab as root usanfsdo1:/home/dblogs /home/data/dblogs nfs rw 0 0 And when I run the following command to see if NFS is exporting the share, it's not shown showmount -e usanfsdo1 Can someone please help? Also, a point of interest would be there is another mount that works on the same servers and thats defined as below in the /etc/fstab usanfsdo1:/home/files /home/data/files nfs rw 0 0 /etc/exports /nfs/home/dblogs 'IPADDRESS'(rw,no_root_squash)

  • Switching to Linux and Keeping Windows With VirtualBox

    Hi guys, I'm currently running a Vista machine, but would like to switch over to Linux, Ubuntu in particular. My question is can I switch over to Ubuntu, keep my Windows partition and use VirtualBox to access the pre-existing Windows partition? Or does VirtualBox require me to create a new install for Guest operating systems? If not, are there any other free alternatives to accomplish this? Thanks

    On Windows Vista, I right-click on a folder, Properties, Sharing tab, and either "Advanced Sharing" or "Share"-"Share" causes an error: Windows File Sharing This program will not run Access is denied. Close My user account is an "administrator" on this machine. I think this behavior changed since my computer was added to the new domain recently. I have other folders shared (from long ago), and they continue to be shared just fine.

    I just bought a new solid state drive, and I'd like to copy all of the files and setup from my current Mac OS X hard drive onto it. What is the best way to do this? I have a 1TB external hard drive, my drive backed up on Time Machine, and Snow Leopard on a DMG, but no external mount for the SSD, and no install DVD (it's at my parents house, promise). I'm familiar with the command line and booting up Mac OS X from a hard drive.

I tried with different machine but I obtained every time time the same error: svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/trunk': could not connect to server (http://svn.macports.org) I can't understand the problem, the address is http so I think that is a problem of subversion with http address (the repository is the one for Macport for MAC OS but I think that the problem is not about the repository but is a subversion problem)

    To restore an SQL Server 2008 database, I would lile to be able to just do something like this in powershell: ./restore.ps1 DatabaseName.bak Then the powershell script would by convention restore it to a database with name "DatabaseName". It would disconnect any user connected to this database so that it can restore the DB. It would store the mdf and ldf in the default location. This would mainly be while developing on my personal machine. Just a quick way to restore a DB. Anyone has such a script? Thanks

I want to organize my mp3 directories, but any copied file loses its reference from itunes library, thus, when I add it to itunes again, it'll have no rating data. I guess it's possible if I manipulate the itunes xml database, but I really don't want to mess with it "by hand".

    I hid one of the accounts on my computer from the welcome screen by adding it to the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList I was hoping I'd be able to log in to this account by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del on the welcome screen, but Windows 7 completely ignores this. Is there a way to login to the hidden account on a Windows 7 machine?

My plan is to use sccm to advertise the Windows 7 task sequence to the machines. However my question is, what is the best way to automate the deployment?     I have a server which I'd like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on, but I've had some problems and thought it would be nice to get things working in a Virtualbox VM with the same features as the server. I want to enable UEFI-boot in the VM. I "Enable EFI" in the System / Motherboard settings for the VM. I make sure the Ubuntu Server 12.04 ISO is inserted when I boot. And yet I get stuck in the UEFI boot console when I start the VM. How do I install Ubuntu Server 12.04 in a UEFI boot-enabled Virtualbox machine?

    I am having some problems with my freshly installed Windows XP on VirtualBox. I tried installing Google Chrome on it, and the error I get is: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80040890 It is genuine Windows with SP3. I also tried using VMware player, but it has the same problem. When the same Windows is installed on a real machine, there is no problem. Any ideas what might be the cause?

"A list of servers could not be collected from Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Ensure that your network is functioning correctly and that this computer can access AD DS."     I have a Windows XP machine that locks itself after an unknown amount of time. I have disabled the screen saver completely, and unchecked "lock computer when coming out of standby". I've even overrode the settings with gpedit. Even still, it locks itself after a while, and it doesn't take long. If it's any sort of hint, the time period for the screensaver is greyed out, even if I choose an actual screensaver.

    When I log in on a Windows 8 machine for the first time with my Microsoft Account (by providing an e-mail address), a new user folder is created: C:\Users\dzinx_000 In previous versions of Windows, I could choose the name of this folder (it was equal to my username). As I use the commandline often, it is quite annoying to me. Can I somehow rename it to dzinx? Does simply renaming the folder break everything?

    I have installed vmware toolbox in ubuntu (guest OS). I tried to share a location from the settings of the virtual machine. But when I click Ok, the following error in thrown in the host (Win 7) OS. "Unable to update run-time folder sharing status: Unknown error." The location is not showing up in /mnt/ What could be the reason? P.S I have vmhgfs process running in my Ubuntu VM. I was following this method.
