• Should repeated use of the camera crash an app?

  I have an app that builds a slideshow from user images. They can grab from their library or take a picture. I have found that repeated use of grabbing an image from the library is fine. But repeated use of taking a picture causes erratic behavior. I have been getting crashes but mostly what happens seems to be a reloading of the view after "didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo", which messes things up. I have no leaks and it seems to be releasing properly after each picture is taken. I am resizing the image and saving it in a data base. Is anyone else running into this situation? Was the camera not designed to be called this often?

• lib to read a DVD FS (data disc)

  I am thinking i might want to port a lib to read a DVD filesystem. I am not talking about movies but datadisc. Theres existing code for me to do raw reads from the disc. I need code that request this data and allow me to browse files on the disc. What lib can i use for this? -edit- NOTE: I am using an OSless hardware. • Mysterious different conversion to string[] of seemingly same input data

  During investigation of some problem I found that the reason was unexpected different conversion to string[] of seemingly same input data. Namely, in the code below two commands both return the same two items File1.txt and File2.txt. But conversion to string[] gives different results, see the comments. Any ideas why is it? This might be a bug. If anybody also thinks so, I’ll submit it. • Accessing hard-coded data in a C# application.

  I'm trying to avaid hardcoding in a .net 2.0 soon to be 3.5 application. I have a large enumneration which I wish to map 1 to 1 to a set of strings. Each enumerated value will also map to 1 of 2 values indicating an action. The existing code does this with a big switch statement but this seems ugly to me. Is there a better way of storing and accessing the data? I've thought about resx files but when you consider that the designer file contains just as many hardcoded values it seems a little pointless. Is embedding an xml file in the assembly a good idea? Is a big switch statement not as bad as it seems? Is there a better solution?

• Read Core data in Serial Queue for iPhone app

  I have an app which uses Core data and the values are fetched from a link on internet. This runs absolutely fine when I am creating a serial queue in AppDelegate and I am not facing any problem with the same. Now, when I am trying to re-create similar scenario in a UITableViewController and executing the same in a serial queue but when the control reaches NSError *error; NSArray *match = [context executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; execution control disappears and then this code remains in the execution till eternity. Can anyone help me with what exactly is wrong here? FYI, I am passing the same ManagedObjectContext to the serial queue.

• Importing data from a text file using python

  I have a text file containing data in rows and columns (~17000 rows in total). Each column is a uniform number of characters long, with the 'unused' characters filled in by spaces. For example, the first column is 11 characters long, but the last four characters in that column are always spaces (so that it appears to be a nice column when viewed with a text editor). Sometimes it's more than four if the entry is less than 7 characters. The columns are not otherwise separated by commas, tabs, or spaces. They are also not all the same number of characters (the first two are 11, the next two are 8 and the last one is 5 - but again, some are spaces). What I want to do is import the entires (which are numbers) in the last two columns if the second column contains the string 'OW' somewhere in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How do you calculate expanding mean on time series using pandas?

  How would you create a column(s) in the below pandas DataFrame where the new columns are the expanding mean/median of 'val' for each 'Mod_ID_x'. Imagine this as if were time series data and 'ID' 1-2 was on Day 1 and 'ID' 3-4 was on Day 2.   I am trying to create an edit form for my model. I did not use a model form because depending on the model type, there are different forms that the user can use. (For example, one of the forms has a Tinymce widget, while the other doesn't.) Is there any way of setting the initial data of a form (not a ModelForm) using a model? I added new field on Joomla's jos_users table, but when I wanted to get that field out, like "echo" - it didn't worked at all. Any other data, even password field I can get without problems.   I am working with a large list of points (each point has three dimensions x,y,z). I am pretty new with R, so I would like to know what is the best way to represent that kind of information.   Hi everyone, I need to retrieve data (vehicle details, in this case) from a MySQL table tabled and then loop through the results to generate separate lists for each category of vehicle. Is there a simple way to do this without having to have a SELECT statement for each type of vehicle?   Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? • Drop Columns R Data frame

  I have a number of columns that I would like to drop from a data frame. I know that we can drop them using something like: df$x <- NULL but I was hoping to do this with less commands. Also, I know that I could use this: df[ -c(1,3:6, 12) ] but I am concerned that the relative position of my variables may change. Given how powerful R is, I figured I would ask to see if there is another way beyond dropping each column 1 by 1. Thanks in advance.
