• Split a html string in N parts

  Hi Guys, Does anybody have an example of spliting a html string (coming from a tiny mce editor) and splitting it into N parts using C#? I need to split the string evenly without splitting words. I was thinking of just splitting the html and using the HtmlAgilityPack to try and fix the broken tags. Though I'm not sure how to find the split point, as Ideally it should be based purley on the text rather than the html aswell. Anybody got any ideas on how to go about this? Many thanks Matt

  Hi, I'm a Delphi developer on the Windows platform, recently read the PHP tutorial at W3CSchools, it looks interesting. We all know scripting languages are very good at web site development, but I also want to utilize it to improve my productivity or get some tedious tasks done quickly, maybe some quick-and-dirty string/file processing? How do you usually do with scripting languages apart from software development? And we need a responsive, decent IDE/editor in order to gain productivity when writing scripts for this purpose? • Editing remote files over SSH, using TextMate?

  I LOVE using TextMate on my MacBook. It's great. Unfortunately, I want to edit some files directly on my dev server, since it's difficult to recreate the environment locally. I'm using Git, so one alternative is to just edit locally, git commit, git push, and then git merge, but that's kind of complicated every time I want to make a simple change. I'd rather just ... use another solution. One thing I tried is mounting a hard drive via MacFusion, and then loading that in an editor. But that's so freaking laggy/slow! Has anyone cooked up a better solution?

• Visual Studio 2010 shortcut to select word / expression / line / section / method?

  There is a shortcut Ctrl+Shift+W to select the entire word at the current cursor position. Is there a similar shortcut that keeps expanding the selected region every time I apply it? I mean, is there a shortcut which selects the word when applied once (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) and selects the entire line when applied twice in a row and selects the entire block when applied three times etc., i.e. keeps expanding the selected region step by step? I remember seeing such a shortcut, but I don't remember whether it was for Visual Studio or some other editor.

• Design Question on when to save

  Hi, I was just after peoples opinion on when the best time to save an object (or collection of objects) is. I appreciate that it can be completely dependent on the situation that you are in but here is my situation. I have a collection of objects "MyCollection" in a grid. You can open each object "MyObject" in an editor dialogue by double clicking on the grid. Selecting "Cancel" on the dialogue will back out any changes you have made, but should selecting "ok" commit those changes back to the database, or should they commit the changes on that object back to the collection and have a save method that iterates through the collection and saves all changed objects? If i have an object "MyParentObject", that contains a collection of childen "MyChildObjectCollection", none of the changes made to each "MyChildObject" would be commited to the database until the "MyParentObject" was saved - this makes sense. However in my current situation, none of the objects in the collection are linked, therefore should the "Ok" on the dialogue commit the changes to the database? Appreciate any opinions on this.   Right now I'm using Eclipse for Android development, but my computer is kind of old and I like responsive development environments. I've tried using VIM, Emacs and TextMate but I'm missing every feature in the Eclipse Android plugin: Auto generate R class Check for errors & warnings on code Auto completion Deploy to device or emulator Integrate with DDMS The list goes to infinity ... I know Eclipse is the best for what I want to do, but if I want to use any editor, what do you recommend to achieve a not so frustrating Android development experience?

• python read utf8 text file problem

  I have a problem with python about reading and print utf8 text file. I have a test.txt in utf8 encoding without BOM. This file has two characters in it: ?? The first character "?" is Chinese and the second "?" is Japanese. Now, When I use Ulipad (a python editor) to run the following code to read the txt file, and print these two characters. import codecs infile = "C:\\test.txt" f = codecs.open(infile, "r", "utf-8") s = f.read() print(s) I got this error, "UnicodeEncodeError: 'cp950' codec can't encode character '\u58f0' in position 1: illegal multibyte sequence" I found it caused from the second character "?" . But when I use the same code to test in python default GUI IDLE, it works to print the two characters with no error. So, how can I fix the problem. My running environment is python 3.1 , windows xp traditional Chinese.

• How do you get the glyph for a character encoded as '&#333;' from a utf-8 encoded database field usi

  I have a MySQL database table with a collation of 'utf8_general_ci' and the value in the field is: x & #299; bán yá wén (without the spaces). When this is converted (for example by StackOverflow's editor) it looks like this: xī bán yá wén where the second character looks like a lower case i with a bar over the top. In PHP, what function converts the & #299 ; entity into the ī character? I've tried using html_entity_decode($str,ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8'), however I get characters like the following: yÄ«n wén or zhÅ•ng wén I'm pretty sure there's something I don't understand about the decoding, which is why I'm using the wrong function. Can anyone shed some light on how to get the single character glyph that's represented by the entity & #299 and similar high-number characters above 255? Many thanks, AE

• iTunes Apple Events API

  I'd like to control iTunes through Objective-C ( I just can't get Python appscript installed correctly on my OS/X 10.6.3 system ... that would have been my first choice ). From what I gather, the IPC on Cocoa is based on Apple Events : is there either: Online documentation on iTunes / Apple Events API ? Instrospection mechanism to get to iTunes API? I know about Applescript Editor / Open Dictionary functionality but I can't figure out how to translate the information I see into IPC calls. Note: I have already tried working out a solution through PyObjC but the main function I am after is track searching which I can't figure out. Disclaimer: OS/X super-newbie here.

• ASP.NET ReportViewer Control Fonts to Century Gothic

  We are using ASP.NET ReportViewer Control to render rdl files. In the rdl files we have set the font to “Century Gothic” and in preview mode it renders the fonts nicely. However – when it gets rendered on browser we see the fonts defaulted to “Times New Roman”. I tried couple of things without success: 1. Setting the font family of the page () 2. Setting the FontNames of the ReportViewer control Please let me know how we can render the fonts to Century Gothic. One more thing is I don't see Century Gothic in the list of available fonts in the HTML Editor inside Visual Studio 2010. Do I need to add them somewhere?

• How do I refresh TinyMCE for the code that I add with JavaScript

  Hi, I need to insert code for flash to TinyMCE with JavaScript. If I insert the same code using HTML menu of TinyMCE, it automatically add flash icon to the editor. But if I insert the code using JavaScript, the actual code is inserted but it shows nothing on the screen. One trick I found is toggle TinyMCE to normal textarea and back to TinyMCE. Then, it shows the flash icon. Is there a better way to do that? Thanks. Sam

• Pipe less to emacs

  When viewing piped output to Less, sometimes I'd like to be able to view it in Emacs in order to get syntax highlighting and use emacs commands for searching, marking, copying, etc. I see that Less has a v command that can be used to open the currently viewed file in $EDITOR. Unfortunately this doesn't work when viewing piped input. Also, I don't know how to get Emacs to display stdin as a read-only document. So, is it possible to set up Less with something like v but that pumps the current buffer into Emacs as a read-only file? Thanks.

• FCKeditor in jQuery ui dialog not working

  Hi folks, I'm having serious trouble getting this to work in IE7/8. In FF, everything works as expected. When the user clicks on a certain link, a modal dialog popup is shown. In this dialog, there is a form, which contains one textarea, that is replaced with a FCK instance. The form is loaded from the server using ajax on the clientside and php on the serverside. There's one strange way to get the FCK editor shown, and that is by resizing the dialog. Library versions: jquery: 1.3.2 jquery ui: 1.7.3 FCKeditor: 2.6.1 build 19297 Any help would be strongly appreciated, I'm on a deadline here :-(

• Create two separate windows in terminal

  Picture a terminal. There are two windows inside that terminal. One on top, one on bottom. The top one is much bigger. The top one receives asynchronous updates. The bottom one is for user input. It would work almost exactly the same as vim - the text editor. I'm writing this in Python. I'm guessing you would do this by using curses, but I'm not sure if it's possible.

• A tool to find and fix incomplete source code documentation

  I have several finished, older PHP projects with a lot of includes that I would like to document in javadoc/phpDocumentor style. While working through each file manually and being forced to do a code review alongside the documenting would be the best thing, I am, simply out of time constraints, interested in tools to help me automate the task as much as possible. The tool I am thinking about would ideally have the following features: Parse a PHP project tree and tell me where there are undocumented files, classes, and functions/methods (i.e. elements missing the appropriate docblock comment) Provide a method to half-way easily add the missing docblocks by creating the empty structures and, ideally, opening the file in an editor (internal or external I don't care) so I can put in the description. Optional: Automatic recognition of parameter types, return values and such. But that's not really required. The language in question is PHP, though I could imagine that a C/Java tool might be able to handle PHP files after some tweaking. Thanks for your great input!

  .NET newbie alert Using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I have accidentally created a click event for a button. I then deleted the automatically-created method code, which resulted in an error saying that the function, which had now been referenced in the form loading code, could no longer be found. Deleting the following line from the Form1.Designer.cs file's InitializeComponent() function... this.btnCopy.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.btnCopy_Click); ... seems to do the trick, however, it makes me feel very dirty because of the following warning at the beginning of the #region: /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. I haven't been able to find a way to do this using the form designer, which I assume is the means implied by this warning. What is the correct way to do this?

• Can TextMate find matching opening and closing tags?

  Something I liked in Visual Studio was that I could click an opening tag, say and it would do its best to highlight in bold the closing tag. Does anyone know if you can do that in textmate? I searched an looked but cannot find it. It gets hard to find the closing tag many DIVs deep. If TextMate won't do it, can anyone tell me an editor on Mac that will? Thank you for any help.   I'm discussing some software design issues with a potential client and the idea of Web-to-Print technology has come up. We need users to be able to drag images from an image library to various regions defined by a template. Example: Images may go in box A, B, or C and text may go in boxes D or E. These templates would be setup Boxes A through E would be defined inside a template by administrators using some sort of editor. These templates would serve as a mapping from web-content to a PDF. Once users drag images and insert text in the appropriate regions of the template, the result will be converted into a PDF. Is this feasible these days with jquery & asp.net? That would be nice. If not, what would be the ideal solution?

• php echo doesnt print newlines

  Hey ! I started doing a new project in PHP / MySql . The Aim of this project is to manage articles for a magazine that i am the editor of. So the content of the articles, i decided i would store with the "TEXT" column type of MySql Now when i retrieve this column and print it with echo, the newlines are not there. Its all on the same line. $resset = mysql_query("select txt from articles where id = 1"); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($resset); $txt = $row['txt']; echo $txt; //doesnt print it as it is in the database as it was typed (multiline) Find below, the text as it looks in the database and as it looks when it is echoed But within the database, its stored with newlines. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Please help me as my project depends on this :|

• Design view not working in Web Projects in Visual Studio 2008

  When I try to edit an ASPX file with the Design View it freezes for a moment and does nothing, not even an error message. Looking through menus I've seen some strange things: If I go to Tools-Options-HTML Designer it gives me no options on the right panel, just a "Error loading property page" message. When I try to open a file using "Open With..." there should be something like "Web Form - Editor", but it is missing and I can only open them using Code View. I've tried repairing Visual Studio and reinstalling WebDesignerCore, but nothing works. Anyone had the same problem?

• Using Visual sudio .ncb file for reflection.

  I am developing visual game level editor in c++. For this I want reflection(RTTI) mechanism to know class attributes at runtime. I am currently using PDB files for this.But using PDB I couldn't retrieve actual code line for extra information in commented format which is given for that attribute. Visual studio uses NCB files for intelligence. So will it be better idea to use NCB instead PDB? If yes,How to retrieve information from NCB files? Is there any SDK like DIA SDK?

• Open working copy file from eclipse history view

  The history view of eclipse shows you a list of files changed in a certain revision. When you open the context menu on one of these you have the option 'Open' which opens a view of that file in that revision. How can I open the editor for the selected file, i.e. the file in the version of the working copy, right from the history view? Background is that I want to use the history view to find files that have been changed recently to do code reviewing. People commit via subversion and I use subclipse to connect eclipse to the subversion server. Today, I must use the 'Open resource'/'Open type' function and type the name of the file that I can read from the history view.
