Bing search API using Jsonp not working, invalid label

Struggling with Bing's json request (bing search, not map), I am getting an error back that says 'Invalid Label' My query url is: var bingurl="http://api.search.live.net/json.aspx?Appid=##APIKEY##&query=Honda&sources=web"; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: bingurl, data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "jsonp", success: function(data) { $callBack(data); }, error: function(msg) { alert("error" + msg); } }); Firebug reports 'invalid label' and then dumps the json response. printf field width : bytes or chars?

The printf/fprintf/sprintf family supports a width field in its format specifier. I have a doubt for the case of (non-wide) char arrays arguments: Is the width field supposed to mean bytes or characters? What is the (correct-de facto) behaviour if the char array corresponds to (say) a raw UTF-8 string? (I know that normally I should use some wide char type, that's not the point) For example, in char s[] = "ni\xc3\xb1o"; // utf8 encoded "niño" fprintf(f,"%5s",s); Is that function supposed to try to ouput just 5 bytes (plain C chars) (and you take responsability of misalignments or other problems if two bytes results in a textual characters) ? Or is it supposed to try to compute the length of "textual characters" of the array? (decodifying it... according to the current locale?) (in the example, this would amount to find out that the string has 4 unicode chars, so it would add a space for padding).

JDBC character encoding

Hi there, I have a Java Web application using GlassFish 3, JSF2.0 (facelets) and JPA (EclipseLink) on MySQL (URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/administer). The problem I'm facing is that if I'm saving entities to the database with the update() method, String data loses integrity; '?' is shown instead of some characters. The server, pages and database is/are configured to use UTF-8. After I post form data, the next page shows the data correctly. Furthermore it "seems" in debug that the String property of the current entity stores the correct value too. Dunno if NetBeans debug can be trusted; might be that it decodes correctly, however it's incorrect. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance! Daniel

Google Gadgets and external scripts

I'm trying to create my first custom Google Gadget to be used privately in my company's Google Sites intranet. Ideally I'd like to just show a thumbnail that the user can click that will open a modal window with the full video. This requires my including a couple of small JS libraries in my widget. For my widget I created this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Video Demos" /> <Content view="url" href="http://www.website.com/_gadgets/video.php"> </Content> </Module> The "video.php" page has simple HTML on it and includes two JS files for the modal window using but doesn't work. Are you not able to include external scripts like this? If not, what are my options here?

Twitter URL encoding. Getting error when placing UK Currency sign in URL?

GWT RPC - Does it do enough to protect against CSRF ?

GWT's RPC mechanism does the following things on every HTTP Request - Sets two custom request headers - X-GWT-Permutation and X-GWT-Module-Base Sets the content-type as text/x-gwt-rpc; charset=utf-8 The HTTP request is always a POST, and on server side GET methods throw an exception (method not supported). Also, if these headers are not set or have the wrong value, the server fails processing with an exception "possibly CSRF?" or something to that effect. Question is : Is this sufficient to prevent CSRF? Is there a way to set custom headers and change content type in a pure cross-site request forgery method?

cannot output a json encoded dict containing accents (noob inside)

Video playback on VideoView disappears after going back from another Activity

I have two Activities: one with VideoView and the second one. I start watching a video in the first Activity, then during playback I start second Activity. After going back to first Activity I can hear sound but see no picture. I just tried a sample of retrieving and passing it to a textview. I am having some trouble wrapping my textview. The bottom part is not completely shown. PostgreSQL 8.3 data types: xml vs varchar

There's xml data type in Postgres, I never used it before so I'd like to hear opinions. Downsides and upsides vs using regular varchar (or Text) column to store xml. The text I'm going to store is xml, well-formed, UTF-8. No need to search by it (I've read searching by xml is slow). This XML actually is data prepared for PDF generation with Apache FOP. XML can be generated dynamically from data found elsewhere (other Postgres tables), it's stored as is only so that I won't need to generate it twice. Kinda backup#2 for already generated PDF documents. Anything else to know? Good practices, performance, maintenance, etc?

Appengine not liking my .jspx files

I have a little app that runs fine on local dev appengine, but appengine itself is not processing my .jspx files. The jspx files are in WEB-INF so they should not be excluded by appengine (as a static resource) I am using Apache Tiles to define my views. Exclude all normal alphanumeric character from a mixed chinese-and-alphanumeric character word list

I have a list of chinese characters and normal alphanumeric characters, mixed together, and I want to get rid of any element that contains an alphanumeric character. Is there a simple way to do this? If I simply exclude any element that contains an alphanumeric character, I get no result because the chinese characters (in utf-8) are similarly affected. I also tried [w for w in fourchar if w.startswith("\x")] to try to get the chinese characters but I'm not sure if that's valid at all. I'm having difficulty figuring out what the alphanumeric characters are in unicode. Thanks for any help!
