  Somehow I went to open a shortcut and windows couldn't find the target but instead of pointing the shortcut to the exe it pointed the lnk file handler to the exe, so now all my lnk files are trying to be opened by the borderlands game. WTF? I'm guessing I can do it by resetting the .lnk entry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, but I don't know what to set it to.

  I want to split a very large audio file at certain points. At certain points a radio announcer comes on and says something like "deux radio" and it always sounds exactly the same (it's a recorded clip). So how can I find that bit of repeated audio through out the entire mp3? It would be nice if I could split at that point, but even if it spits out the times, I can split it with another program.

In both cases, the same result. What can I do to solve the problem?

It appears to go through the motions of checking the software because the popup window appears but it never fires up the results in a browser which it used to do in Vista.   I can not remove a trial version of MS Expression Blend 3 from my pc. I am always getting the same error: "Error writing to C:\Config.msi\6e6288.rbf." The name of the file varies.   I would like to map ip address to specific localhost interfaces (e.g. 23.45.66.77 = 127.0.3.3). For named hosts I can use the hosts file. Naturally this doesn't work for IP address. This has to work in windows, the only option I've found so far is implementing a TAP/TUN driver like openvpn does. Are there any other options?
