Oracle .NET Provider DLL hell

I am currently developing on a Win7-32bits computer. Everything works fine. It's a ASP.NET application. I was able to use Microsoft's Oracle deprecated .NET provider to connect to Oracle (using 32 bit instant client) and also ODP.NET. No problems at all. Application runs fine. The problem comes when I deploy it to IIS7 on Windows 2008 Server 64bit computer. I can't get Microsoft's deprecated .NET provider or ODP.NET to work easily. Is there a straightforward way to use a 32bit based ODP.NET or Microsoft's Oracle deprecated .NET provider in Windows 2008 Server 64bits? DLL hell here! Thanks.

I am attempting to uplaod a Word doc and then write it line by line in HTML. I made a referecne to the Microsoft Word Object Library. Then I use the following code to grab the and put it in a string variable. However, I have tried multiple regex statements to replace the new line character with "" but nothing I have tried has worked... Can't connect twice to linked table using ACE/JET driver

I'm trying to connect to an MS Access database linked table in VBScript. It works fine connecting the first time on one connection but if I close that connection and open a new one in the same script it gives me an error. test.vbs(13, 1) Microsoft Office Access Database Engine: ODBC--connection to '{Oracle in OraClient10g_home1}DB_NAME' failed. How do i enable transactions

I have a similar question of how to check if you are in a transaction. Instead of checking how do i allow nested transactions? I am using Microsoft SQL File Database with ADO.NET. I seen examples using tsql and examples starting transactions using begin and using transaction names. When calling connection.BeginTransaction i call another function pass in the same connection and it calls BeginTransaction again which gives me the exception SqlConnection does not support parallel transactions. It appears many microsoft variants allow this but i cant figure out how to do it with my .mdf file. How do i allow nested transactions with a Microsoft SQL File Database using C# and ADO.NET?

my windows forms application throws filenotfoundexception when run on another machine

Hi, I have created a windows forms application using vs2008. when i copy the bin folder over to another machine and try to run it the applicaiton throws a filenotfoundexception error. Ive looked at the references files used in the project and each file points to either c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727... c:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5... c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Visual Basic Power Packs\1.1... i have verified that these directories exist on the other machines that cause the error. the two machines that i have tried it on and that throw there error are Windows XP WITHOUT VS2008 installed and Windows 7 with VS2008 installed I tried on two machine that DID work which are Windows XP with VS2008 and and my development machine Windows 7 with VS2008 Could anyone provide me with some insight on this issue Thanks

TFS 2008 Build Script

In TFS 2008, I am trying to modify a build script (TFSBuild.proj). I get the following warning: The element 'PropertyGroup' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003' has invalid child element 'TeamProject' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003'. Which is correct, The element PropertyGroup does indeed have a child called TeamProject. I’m making an assumption that this is caused because of the following line: <Project DefaultTargets="DesktopBuild" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="3.5"> The Xml Namespace doesn’t appear to exist as far as I can tell, although it looks like a standard one. Please can anyone tell me if this is a standard XML namespace, how or where I can view its contents and whether the warning that I am seeing may be caused by it?

Hi I've been trying to figure out how to create a context menu in VSTO 2007. I'm hoping that is possible. When I make this call. I've look all over and from what I can tell it's not possible to add to the context menu in Office 2007. This doesn't seem right. Repeated disconnects on WPA PEAP network

I am able to connect to the network, but once I load a website or two, the network become unresponsive (i.e. in Chromium, it gets stuck at "Sending request"), and I'm eventually disconnected. Hi all, I am trying to a perform build automation on one of web application projects built using VS 2008. The _PublishedWebSites contains two folders: Web and Deploy. I just want the TFS 2008 to generate only the Deploy Folder and Not the Web Folder. For me jQuery is the 'Plan-B' for everything.And most of my projects include the use of jQuery for something or the other, so I decided to write a small note on what works best while using jQuery along with SharePoint.I prefer to use the jQuery JavaScript library, which is far more robust, easier to use, and allows for plugins. Follow the steps below to add jQuery to your master page. For office 365, the prefered location to add jQuery files is the "Site Asserts" library.Deployment Best PracticesThey are only as good as the context it’s being referenced. In other words, take into account your world before applying it.Script your deployment options. Folder in SPD. Use the file system. Make external references. The JQuery library is on the Microsoft Ajax Content Delivery Network. You may even choose to publish to and from the document library. (pros and cons to this approach)Reference options when referencing the script.ScriptLink will make sure it’s loaded at the top of the page and only loaded once. You need Visual Studio or SPDContent Editor Web Part (CEWP). Drop it on the page and it’s there. Easy but dangerousCustom Actions. Great for global deployments of JQuery. Loads it on every page. Compilation error on a user control

I'm stumped! We have a user control for managing account information. We use this particular control on two pages. On one page, everything works perfectly and meets our expectation. On the second page however we receive compilation errors stating that: "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\lrpcentral\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_PageThatFails.aspx.f3d462c1.oi52bvii.0.cs(172): error CS0433: The type 'xxxx_ascx' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\APPLICATIONNAME\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_xxxx.ascx.cdcab7d2.xbnvt2za.dll' and 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\APPLICATIONNAME\0e987bea\6719c8b6\App_Web_eix7xllr.dll' My problem is similar to Cyril's but the "delete everything from Temp" is not an option for me, and Cyril's solution does not apply since the only variable we have is contained in the designer file, which is not deployed to our production environment (we pre-compile). A code using SharePoint classes doesn't run on systems not having SharePoint installed

I have a window application which uses SP classes to create a site. I works fine on a system having Windows Server 2003 R2 with sharepoint installed. But it doesn't work on a system having XP installed and SharePoint not installed. The fact is that both of these systems are on a intranet. So I assumed that the NON-SP system would be able to run the code and create a site on the system having SP installed if all the required parameters (like serverLocation, domain, username, password) are provided. I did copied the DLLs to these NON-SP system and referenced them to build the project: Microsoft.SharePoint.dll microsoft.sharepoint.portal.dll Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.dll But this too didn't worked. What am I missing? Is my assumption wrong?

In what language was MSDOS originally written in? The Wikipedia Article implies either C, QBasic or Pascal, but: * C was invented to write UNIX, so I don't believe it was used to write MSDOS * Pascal seems popular to teach programming, but not really popular to write Operating systems in * QBasic didn't seem to be very popular for Operating Systems at the time MSDOS was developed (or was *BASIC ever very popular to write Operating Systems in it?) Except these three languages there is also Assembly, but I assume that Microsoft already switched from Assembly to a "higher" level language? Since C was originally invented for UNIX, I still wouldn't think Microsoft is using C... although the Microsoft API is written in C (I find this kind-of oxymoronic, actually). Can anyone enlighten me on this topic?
