• How to configure properly IntelliJ IDEA for deployment of JBoss Seam project?

  I would like to use IntelliJ IDEA for development of JBoss Seam project. seam-gen is creating the project stub, however the stub is not complete. In particular it is not clear how to deploy such project. First of all I had to define manually web project facelet and add libraries to its deployment definition. The other problem was persistence.xml file. In the Seam generated project it does not exists, since Ant is using one of the persistence-dev.xml, persistence-prod.xml, persistence-test.xml files, changing its name, depending on deployment type (which is ok). Obviously I can create persistence.xml by hand, but it goes againts Seam way of development. Finally I decided to use directly ant, which is not partucularly comfortable. All these tweaks made me think that I am doing something wrong from the IntelliJ IDEA point of view. What is the efficient way of configuring IntelliJ for usage with JBoss Seam (deployment, in particular)? I am using JBoss Seam 2.1.1, Intellij 8.1.4, JBoss 4.3.3

• How does Visual Studio's source control integration work with Perforce?

  We're using Perforce and Visual Studio. Whenever we create a branch, some projects will not be bound to source control unless we use "Open from Source Control", but other projects work regardless. From my investigations, I know some of the things involved: In our .csproj files, there are these settings: <SccProjectName <SccLocalPath <SccAuxPath <SccProvider Sometimes they are all set to "SAK", sometimes not. It seems things are more likely to work if these say "SAK". In our .sln file, there are settings for many of the projects: SccLocalPath# SccProjectFilePathRelativizedFromConnection# SccProjectUniqueName# (The # is a number that identifies each project.) SccLocalPath is a path relative to the solution file. Often it is ".", sometimes it is the folder that the project is in, and sometimes it is ".." or "..\..", and it seems to be bad for it to point to a folder above the solution folder. The relativized one is a path from that folder to the project file. It will be missing entirely if SccLocalPath points to the project's folder. If the SccLocalPath has ".." in it, this path might include folder names that are not the same between branches, which I think causes problems. So, to finally get to the specifics I'd like to know: What happens when you do "Change source control" and bind projects? How does Visual Studio decide what to put in the project and solution files? What happens when you do "Open from source control"? What's this "connection" folder that SccLocalPath and SccProjectFilePathRelativizedFromConnection refer to? How does Visual Studio/Perforce pick it? Is there some recommended way to make the source control bindings continue to work even when you create a new branch of the solution?

  Last night, the iPhone project was built perfectly. This morning, I installed XCode 3.2.3 in a separate folder. When I open the same project in the old XCode 3.2.2 and re-built the project. I got this warning: Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate. (-19011) How can I fix it? Thanks!

• Is it possible to compile Silverlight controls project with Nant?

  Hi all, I am attempting to compile my Silverlight control project with Nant without luck. Since my project contains XAML files, I am not sure if Nant is capable of generating the .g.cs files from the XAML file to be compiled into the project. I have come across posts where people suggest using the MsBuild task. Is there a way to avoid using the MsBuild task and compile the project using just Nant? I am not against using the MsBuild task. I know very little about copyright law, including how it applies in these situations, and I can never find usage and licensing terms for these. Nor did googling any terms I could think of provide me the specific answer I need. does anyone know for sure what the rules/laws are here, or where I can find the answer?

  I've installed the HgEclipse plugin for Mercurial integration in Eclipse. I have an existing (Java) project in Eclipse, but I can't figure out how to turn on mercurial change tracking for this existing project. It seems I can do an import of a mercurial project (File Import Mercurial Clone ...), but that's only for new Eclipse projects... Of course, I can apply Mercurial via the command line, e.g. hg init in the project directory, but this doesn't get picked up in Eclipse. So, how do I turn on Mercurial for existing Eclipse projects?

  Hi guys, I'm writing a Python open-source app. My app uses some open source Python libraries. These libraries in turn use other open-source libraries. I intend to release my code at Sourceforge or Google Code but do I need to include the sources of the other libraries? Is this a good practice? ...or should I simply write this information into a README file informing the use about the other required libraries. I've placed all these libraries into a libs sub folder in my source directory. When checking my code into SVN, should I use something called svn:externals to link to other sources? Is there a way to dynamically update my libraries to the latest version or is this something I have to do manually when I release a new version. My sincerest apologies if my question sounds vague but I'm pretty lost in this matter and I don't know what to Google for. Thanks all.

My code in ~/.bashrc is incompleted now : alias startmatch='java -jar "emarket.jar" ../tournament 100'; function geterrors() { startmatch 2>"$1"; a=0; while read line do if true; then a=$(($a+1)); echo $a; fi; done } What it does now is to redirect all stderr to a text file specified by the first argument passed in, and after that, parse that text file line by line, if certain conditions returns true, echo only that line. And I am stuck with what to do inside the loop. Any suggestion is much appreciates, any hint is welcomed.

XML values going to AS3, updating a changing acceleration formula. I don't hate math, but it just doesn't seem OOP or good project planning to have the math stuck in Flash. I want to use wxPython for my GUI (supports 2.6), but I also want to use 3.1 for the rest of the project (to start using the 3.x syntax). Is there any way for me to design a project that mixes 2.x and 3.x modules? Or should I just bite the bullet and use either 2.x (preferred, since I really want to learn wxPython) or 3.x throughout?   I am trying to refresh the @ManyToMany relation but it gets cleared instead... My Project class looks like this: @Entity public class Project { ... @ManyToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.EAGER) @JoinTable(name = "PROJECT_USER", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "PROJECT_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID"), inverseJoinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "USER_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID")) private Collection<User> users; ... } But I don't have - and I don't want - the collection of Projects in the User entity. When I look at the generated database tables, they look good. They contain all columns and constraints (primary/foreign keys). But when I persist a Project that has a list of Users (and the users are still in the database), the mapping table doesn't get updated gets updated but when I refresh the project afterwards, the list of Users is cleared. For better understanding: Project project = ...; // new project with users that are available in the db System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 5 em.persist(project); System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 5 em.refresh(project); System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 0 So, how can I refresh the relation between User and Project?

• Design suggestions for creating document management structure using hidden shares.

  I need to add some document management functionality into my software. Documents will be grouped by company name and project name. The folders need to be accessed by the application using the id numbers of clients/projects, but also easily browsed by the end user using windows explorer. Clients and Projects will be stored in a database. I am thinking of having the software create the folders using the friendly name and then using a hidden share with the id number for the software to access the files. The folder structure would be something like this --Company 1 (Company-1234$) -- Project 101 (Project-101$) -- Project 102 (Project-102$) -- Project 103 (Project-103$) -- Company 2 (Company-5678$) -- Project 201 (Project-201$) -- Project 202 (Project-202$) -- Project 203 (Project-203$) So in the example above there would be a company called "Company 1" with a ID of "1234". When browsing the folders using windows explorer the user would see \\ServerName\Documents\Company1 and you could also access the same folder from \\ServerName\Documents\Company-1234$ By using the hidden share, if the company name changes or its renamed for some reason it doesn't break the link in the application because its using the hidden shared based on the ID that never changes. Will having hundreds (maybe thousands) or hidden shares on a server provide a huge performance hit? Does any one have any suggestions or alternatives to provide this feature?

In the workspace root, there is a .settings folder with many files and subfolders, and inside the project folder there are two files - .classpath and .project, and another .settings folder with a single file - org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs. Which of these files should be committed to SVN and which can be safely excluded?

• How can I use a class with the same name from another namespace in my class?

  I have two classes with the same name in different namespaces. I want one of these classes to reference the other class. The reason is that I am migrating to some newer code and I want to update the old code to simply pass through to the newer code.   Hi all, I recently installed TFS 2010 with the included sharepoint services on a single server. I am getting the following error multiple times on the project dashboard web page on the TFS2010 project protal after creating a brand new project in the default project collection. I am not an expert with WSS, so any guidance will be greatly appreciated. After reading a few articles I understand there are some DLL that are probably not declared as safe in a web config file. But I am not sure which DLL they are and where the web config file is. I looked at IIS to determine the directory structure in IIS is quiet different to the URL path ...Thanks very much.   Does anyone know of a TFS 2010 Dashboard that is able to utilize multi-project queries? Our group has several distinct projects that must be managed at the same time. TFS itself supports this. Simply by excluding the Project = @Project (or whatever) we can get back the results we're looking for. Our issue is that we would like to find a nice dashboard (like Telerik Work Item Manager) that also supports this.

• Using MEF with exporting project that uses resources (xml) contained in the xap.

  I'm doing a proof of concept app in SL4 using MEF and as part of the app I am importing another xap from an existing Silverlight Project and displaying it in my host project. The problem is that the existing app uses some .xml files (as content) and it uses linq2xml to load these files which are (assumed to be) bundled in the xap. When I compose the application the initalization fails because the host app doesn't contain the xml files. If I copy these xml files into the host project and run it the composition works fine. However, I need to keep the xml files in the original project. Is there a way that I can download a xap and look at it's contents for xml files and then load them into the host xap at runtime so that after the compostion takes place the xml resources that are required can be found? Or should I work out some kind of contract with an import/export to pass the xml files to the host xap? As the people developing the imported xaps (should the project go ahead) are from a different company, I would like to keep changes to the way they develop their apps to a minimum.

• why won't Eclipse use the compiler I specify for my project?

  I'm using Eclipse 3.3. In my project, I've set the compiler compliance level to 5.0 In the build path for the project. I've added the Java 1.5 JDK in the Installed JREs section and am referencing that System Library in my project build path. However, I'm getting compile errors for a class that implements PreparedStatement for not implementing abstract methods that only exist in Java 1.6 PreparedStatement. Specifically, the methods setAsciiStream(int, InputStream, long) and setAsciiStream(int, InputStream) Strangely enough, it worked when we were compiling it against Java 1.4, which it was originally written for. We added the JREs for Java 1.4 and referenced that system library in the project, and set the project's compiler level to 1.4, and it works fine. But when I do the same changes to try to point to Java 5.0, it instead uses Java 6. Any ideas why? I wrote a similar question earlier, here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2540548/how-do-i-get-eclipse-to-use-a-different-compiler-version-for-java I know how you're supposed to choose a different compiler but it seems Eclipse isn't taking it. It seems to be defaulting to Java 6, even though I have deleted all Java 6 JDKs and JREs that I could find. I've also updated the -vm option in my eclipse.ini to point to the Java5 JDK.

• Can i use VS Setup Project to build a bootstrapper which can install correct platform version or are

But i couldn't find a way to combine both into one project so that the bootstrapper is installing the correct platform version. Is there a way to do so in VS Setup Project or are are there any free 3rd party tools i can use? I found dotnetinstaller, but i'm not sure if that is what i'm looking for.

• Code Organization Connundrum: Web Project With Multiple Supporting DLLs?

  Hi. I am trying to get a handle on the best practice for code organization within my project. I have looked around on the internet for good examples and, so far, I have seen examples of a web project with one or multiple supporting class libraries that it references or a web project with sub-folders that follow its namespace conventions. Assuming there is no right answer, this is what I currently have for code organization: MyProjectWeb This is my web site. I am referencing my class libraries here. MyProject.DLL As the base namespace, I am using this DLL for files that need to be generally consumable. For example, my class "Enums" that has all the enumerations in my project lives there. As does class MyProjectException for all exception handling. MyProject.IO.DLL This is a grouping of maybe 20 files that handle file upload and download (so far). MyProject.Utilities.DLL ALl my common classes and methods bunched up together in one generally consumable DLL. Each class follows a "XHelper" convention such as "SqlHelper, AuthHelper, SerializationHelper, and so on... MyProject.Web.DLL I am using this DLL as the main client interface. Right now, the majority of class files here are: 1) properties (such as School, Location, Account, Posts) 2) authorization stuff ( such as custom membership, custom role, & custom profile providers) My question is simply - does this seem logical? Also, how do I avoid having to cross reference DLLs from one project library to the next? For example, MyProject.Web.DLL uses code from MyProject.Utilities.DLL and MyProject.Utilities.DLL uses code from MyProject.DLL. Is this solved by clicking on properties and selecting "Dependencies"? I tried that but still don't seem to be accessing the namespaces of the assembly I have selected. Do I have to reference every assembly I need for each class library? Responses appreciated and thanks for your patience.
