  I've got a server running Windows Web Server 2008 SP1 (Version 6, Build 60001, SP 1). Looking in task manager I've got an instance of WmiPrvSE.exe running under the SYSTEM account using more than 400MB of RAM in its Working Set. How can I find out what this is and why its using so much RAM?

• How to reconnect VPN automatically after sleep/hibernate on Vista/7?

  I'm using Win 7's built-in VPN client but every time I put my computer to sleep / hibernate mode and then wake it up again, the connection is lost and I need to reconnect manually. Is there any way to automate it? Wireless connections have a nice little checkbox ("automatically connect when this network is in range") but I couldn't find anything similar for VPN connections. Task scheduler maybe?

This question (answered by KronoS) tells how to change the delay time before the popups occur when hovering over the open application icons on the taskbar. However, this registry tweak does not work to speed up the desktop peek functionality when the mouse is moved over the 'desktop' area of the task bar. Any idea how to speed up this function?

• Automatically start VNC server on startup

  I installed the Ubuntu desktop on a Ubuntu 9.10 VPS server and am able to connect to the server using TightVNC. However, the VNC server on this VPS can only be started by logging in through SSH and typing the following command: vncserver :1 -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 -pixelformat rgb565 If I run this command on startup or as a schedule task, it won't start.   I have a problem regarding how to kill a process in cygwin on windows. I am completely new to cygwin. But i have a task that i simply cant kill. i have tried issuing the following commands: kill 4568 kill -9 4568 /bin/kill -f 4568 I have issued the commands in a separate cygwin terminal since i cant CTR-C it in the cygwin terminal where the process run. • Windows running service as "system" when log on as is "user"

  I have an apache service that is running as "SYSTEM", however the log on as settings are configured to run as my user account. The windows task manager claims that I am the user name associated with the service when it's running, however I had the apache service call a python script which indicates that the user is "SYSTEM. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've reinstalled 3 times and once with a newer version.

• I know it is a VLC know issue, but cant find a workaround

  I installed VLC player, because it works better that other video player on HD videos, but know I have an issue all most of my games (All of those using Bink Video, that means all Unreal Engine games, Call of duty, and more). When I load the game, I can hear the videos, the audio is working, so I know the videos is loading, but there is no image on the screen! Once I read that it was a known VLC issue with DivX or something like that, cant remember, does anyone, know a way to fix it? Thanks in advance

• Increase process memory cap.

  Doing copy/paste in Visual Studio 2010 RTM on Windows 7, 3GB ram machine, I was unable to copy text because of an error: Task Manager shows that devenv.exe is using a little more than 500MB. However I still have almost 1GB of free RAM available. Is that somekind of memory cap? If so, is there a way to increase it? It may be a bug, but maybe there is a workaround?

  We are working to get a large (inherited) VMware ESX 3.5 environment with multiple SANs under control. We first need to create a diagram / Excel spreadsheet / whatever that explains what VM is stored where. This is a rather time-consuming task to complete by just using the VI client to copy down everything. Is there a good script or tool out there that can do this for us? I would like to see: VM Name, LUN, Actual file-name/location of VMDK/VMX, Power State, Host Any ideas?

  Is there a way to create a local user account on a Windows 7 Professional machine that stays active only for a certain length of time e.g 12 months? The reason for doing this is we loan out laptops for 12 months to students, however some are less than prompt at bringing them back, if they were locked out of the laptop this would force them to bring the machine back in if they hoped to continue using the laptop.   I'm trying to write an upstart file for OpenConnect. The task is pretty simple, but I'm stuck because I don't want to provide the username and password in a config file, but prompt the user to provide them each time. The upstart file, placed in /etc/init/openconnect.conf is exec /usr/sbin/openconnect --script=/etc/vpnc/vpnc-script my-gw.example.com However, when I execute start openconnect the process is backgrounded immediately and I get no chance to provide input. How can I make this upstart job ask the user for input?
