A particular area of functionality has many users which can access many areas. The permissions on the area are setup via roles (habtm) The user/roles association is also habtm The permissions (read, write, delete, etc) are habtm towards roles. How would that be best done with rails/activerecord?

  • Render dropdown as text for particular action in ASP.NET MVC

    I have a partial view that I use for editing and creating my models. When a user is editing the model, I would like a particular drop-down to be rendered as text as I don't want them to change it. A read-only drop-down would suffice, but I'd prefer text. I'm thinking I can accomplish this via an extension method, but I'm not quite sure how to get started. Any help would be appreciated!

  • filtering search results with php

    Hello, Cant really find any useful information on this through Google so hope someone here with some knowledge can help. I have a set of results which are pulled from a multi dimensional array. Currently the array key is the price of a product whilst the item contains another array which contains all the product details. key=>Item(name=>test, foo=>bar) So currently when I list the items I just order by the key, smallest first and it lists the products smallest price first. However I want to build on this so that when a user sees the results they can choose other ordering options like list all products by a name, certain manufacturer, colour, x ,y ,z etc etc from a drop down box(or something similar) This is where I need some guidance. Im just not sure how to go about it or best practise or anything. The only way I can think of is to order all the items by the nested array eg by the name, manufacturer etc. but how do I do that in PHP? Hope you understand what im trying to achieve(if not just ask). Any help on this with ideas, approaches or examples would be great. Thanks for reading p.s Im using PHP5

    I know that so far (until MSSQL 2005 at least), system databases are master, model, msdb and tempdb. Thing is, as far as I can tell, this is not guaranteed to be preserved in the future. And neither the sys.databases view nor the sys.sysdatabases view tell me if a database is considered as a system database. Is there someplace where this information (whether a database is considered a system database or not) can be obtained?

    Some complex subversion merges are coming up in my project: big branches that have been apart for a long time. Svn gives too many conflicts. Would it be any good to use git-svn just for the benefit of making the merge more manageable?   • Do I need to create icons other than RGBA for my Windows app?

    I'm curious if anyone still creates icons other than RGB/A (or 32-bit with alpha-channel) for your Windows apps? PS. I know that suggested model is to create 256-color versions of icons, but I always struggle with those. If I automatically convert them in an icon editor they totally decimate the look of my original icons with jagged edges and circa-Windows95 look. So if those are still required, does anyone know the stats on how many people are still using color settings other then 32-bit TrueColor?

  • JQuery within a partial view not being called

    I have a view that has some jQuery to load a partial view (via a button click) into a div in the view. This works without a problem. However within the partial view I have a very similar bit of jQuery that will load another partial view into a div in the first partial view, but this isn't working, it almost seems like the jQuery in the first partial view isn't being loaded. I have tried searching for solutions, but I haven't managed to find an answer. I have also re-created the jQuery function in a @Ajax.ActionLink which works fine, however I am trying to avoid the Microsoft helpers as I am trying to learn jQuery.     Hi, I would like to populate an 2 dimensional array, from a vector. I think the best way to explain myself is to put some examples (with a array of [3,5] length). Edit: In fact, each value is the number of cells (from the current cell to the last cell) according to the given vector. If we take the example where the vector is [-2, 0], with the value *1* (at array[2, 3]): array = [ [<0>, <0>, <1>, <1>, <2>], [<0>, <0>, <1>, <1>, <2>], [<0>, <0>, <1>, *1*, <2>] ] ... we could think such as: The vector [-2, 0] means that -2 is for cols and 0 is for rows. So if we are in array[2, 3], we can move 1 time on the left (left because 2 is negative) with 2 length (because -2.abs == 2). And we don't move on the top or bottom, because of 0 for rows.

  • WPF/INotifyPropertyChanged, change the value of txtA, the txtB and txtC should change automatically?

    I supposed, once i change the value of txtA, the txtB and txtC would change automatically, since i have implemented INotifyPropertyChanged for ValueA. But they were not updated on UI. txtB was always 100, and txtC was always -50. I don't know what's the reason.
