• Passing context between templatetags, django

  Hi overflowers, I am using django to create a web-application. I have created a template in where I load a templatetag. In this templatetag i load another templatetag. From the template I pass context to the first templatetag, but the context is not available from the second templatetag (inside the first templatetag) - see below. I hope this makes sense, and that one of you have the answer. • Using FFmpeg in .net?

  So i know its a fairly big challenge but i want to write a basic movie player/converter in c# using the FFmpeg library. However the first obstacle i need to overcome is wrapping the FFmpeg library in c#. I downloaded ffmpeg but couldn't compile it on windows, so i downloaded a precompiled version for me. Ok awesome. Then i started looking for c# wrappers. I have looked around and have found a few wrappers such as SharpFFmpeg (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sharpffmpeg/) and ffmpeg-sharp (http://code.google.com/p/ffmpeg-sharp/). First of all i wanted to use ffmpeg-sharp as its LGPL and SharpFFmpeg is GPL. However it had quite a few compile errors. Turns out it was written for the mono compiler, i tried compiling it with mon but couldn't figure out how. I then started to manually fix the compiler errors myself, but came across a few scary ones and thought i'd better leave those alone. So i gave up on ffmpeg-sharp. Then i looked at SharpFFmpeg and it looks like what i want, all the functions P/Invoked for me. However its GPL? Both the AVCodec.cs and AVFormat.cs files look like ports of avcodec.c and avformat.c which i reckon i could port myself? Then not have to worry about licencing. But i wan't to get this right before i go ahead and start coding. Should I: Write my own c++ library for interacting with ffmpeg, then have my c# program talk to the c++ library in order to play/convert videos etc. OR Port avcodec.h and avformat.h (is that all i need?) to c# by using a whole lot of DllImports and write it entirely in c#? First of all consider that i'm not great at c++ as i rarely use it but i know enough to get around. The reason i'm thinking #1 might be the better option is that most FFmpeg tutorials are in c++ and i'd also have more control over memory management than if i was to do it in c#. What do you think? Also would you happen to have any usefull links (perhaps a tutorial) for using FFmpeg? EDIT: spelling mistakes

• Admob in iPhone with Tabbar and TableView

  I'm having tab bar with 5 buttons. Out of 5 tabs, 2 are table views which uses navigation controller for showing sub views on click of cell. Above the tab bar, in each view I left some space for ads using "Admob". I'm adding ads using IB. But its giving EXC_BAD_ACCESS when its reaching "adMobAd = [AdMobView requestAdWithDelegate:self];" in AdViewController.m I'm using following lines of code to add views to tab bar view. In my code, I just added ads to LatestNews only. Can some one help me out of this problem. • Modifying LaTeX Table of Contents to add a period after chapter/table/figure number

  I need to add a period after the chapter/table/figure number in each line in Table of Contents/LoT/LoF. ie, right now it shows: TABLES 1 first 2 second but I need it to show: TABLES 1. first 2. second I know this can be done with the tocloft package, however, that package is conflicting with the latex style I'm using, with the error: \c@lotdepth is already defined. (The style is an old style for my university's thesis format, but it's slightly out of date, so I need to make some changes to get it right. I also found that I can change thechapter/thetable/thefigure, so those contain periods. However, that then messes up my references and has the period in all of my references.

• How to configure Apache2 to host Django and PHP on multiple domains simultaneously?

  I have a VPS (Ubuntu 10.04) that hosts multiple domains, one of them being a CodeIgniter (PHP) web app. The others are just static websites, no fancy backend languages required. Well I am starting a new project and want to use Django. I have Django installed, mod_wsgi enabled in Apache2, but when I did the first steps on the documentation (https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/howto/deployment/wsgi/modwsgi/) it seemingly overwrote my existing Apache2 configuration and served up the Django welcome page to all my domains. What should my httpd.conf file should look like so that it doesn't overtake all my domains.

• latex tabular vertical alignment to top?

  I'm trying to create a simple tabular with two cells of text and two images below them like so: \begin{tabular}[h]{ c | c} \emph{Normal} & \emph{Cone} \\ \includegraphics[width=0.39\textwidth]{images/pipe1} & \includegraphics[width=0.61\textwidth]{images/pipe2} \end{tabular} The first image is shorter than the second and I want it to be aligned at the top of the cell but for some reason it gets aligned to the bottom of the cell instead. I've tried using the array package and do this: \begin{tabular}[h]{ p{0.39\textwidth} | p{0.61\textwidth} } \emph{Normal} & \emph{Cone} \\ \includegraphics[width=0.39\textwidth]{images/pipe1} & \includegraphics[width=0.61\textwidth]{images/pipe2} \end{tabular} But this doesn't change anything. The first image is still aligned to the bottom. Why is that? Could there be something else going on which forces the alignment to stick to the bottom?

• What is the simplest way to build your own .deb package?

  Having used Ubuntu for several years now, I've assembled a short list of scripts and packages that I always install on my computers. I would like to pack them up into a .deb to make it easier to get set up on a fresh OS installation. I'm imagining, for instance, one package that would install all of my custom BASH scripts that I've made for common tasks, and another one that would depend on other packages (like w64codecs) that I always install but forget that I need to until I go to do something and it's not there. It doesn't even have to be by-the-book; I'm not looking to deploy these publicly. I'm just looking to roll up all these tasks into one sudo dpkg --install. To quantify "simple" or "easy," I mean to say that I'm looking for the method with the fewest steps requiring the least technical knowledge and, most importantly, taking the least time.

• Unable to send mail through Google SMTP with PHPMailer

  Hello, I'm trying to send out mail using Google's SMTP in combination with PHPMailer, but I can't get it to work. This is my code: $mail->IsSMTP(); $mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; $mail->SMTPAuth = true; $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; $mail->Username = "[email protected]"; $mail->Password = "**********"; $mail->Port = "465"; First I do not fully understand what should be filled in as 'SMTPSecure', some say 'ssl', other say 'tls'. Next for 'Port' I could enter '465' or '587'. But none of the combinations work... Note that I'm using a regular Gmail account and not Google Apps. In my Gmail account I've enabled 'POP access'. The error I get is: "Must issue a STARTTLS command first". Which means SSL failed, but don't know why...

• problem with MySQL installation : template configuration file cannot be found

  Trying to install MySQL onto the Windows XP machine. While going through the installation steps (in the "MySQL Server Instance Config. Wizard"), I get to a point where it the window reads: MySQL Server Instance Configuration (bold header) Choose the configuration for the server instance. Ready to execute... o Prepare configuration o Write configuration file o Start service o Apply security settings (this line is greyed out) Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. [ Back ] [ Execute ] [ Cancel ] So I press execute, and then a red X appears in the second step: Write configuration file and at the bottom, where it originally said: Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. It now says: The template configuration file cannot be found at C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\my-template.cnf I'm unsure what it means, but I canceled the config wizard and looked in the directory that had been created (C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0). • How to learn high-level Java web development concepts

  I have some experience writing web applications in Java for class projects. My first project used Servlets and my second, the Stripes framework. However, I feel that I am missing the greater picture of Java web development. I don't really understand the web.xml and context.xml files. I'm not sure what constitutes a Java EE application as opposed to a generic Java web application. I can't figure out how a bean is different from an ordinary Java class (POJO?) and how that differs from an Enterprise Java Bean (EJB). These are just the first few questions I could think of, but there are many more. What is a good way to learn how Java web applications function from the top down rather than simply how to develop an application with a specific framework? (Is there a book for this sort of thing?) Ultimately, I would like to understand Java web applications well enough to write my own framework.

• Cannot resize OS X partition

  I am trying to resize my existing Mac OS Extended partition on my Macbook to install Windows 7 (using steps similar to these), but when ever I go to apply the changes, I get this error: Partition failed Partition failed with the error: The partition cannot be resized. Try reducing the amount of change in the size of the partition. The total capacity of the hard drive in question is 260GB, with the entirety being taken up by the OS X boot partition. There is I am aiming to shrink that partition down to 60GB. How can I fix this problem? I have been reducing the amount of change by 10GB each attempt, but it still is not working. I assume the problem is that there is not a large amount of continuous space on the device. Is there some way to can do a manual defrag that would rectify this problem?

• After using lvextend, I can't recover unused space

  I needed to add more disk space to my CentOS VM, so I added another virtual disk, then used lvextend to add the space to the existing partition. The steps I followed was: echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan pvcreate /dev/sdb vgextend VolGroup00 /dev/sdb lvextend -l +100%FREE /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 resize2fs /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 This worked fine. I subsequently filled up the VM, then deleted most of the used disk space. However, the unused disk space was never recovered after I deleted all of the files. This will illustrate what I'm saying better: # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 61G 32G 26G 56% / /dev/sda1 99M 20M 75M 21% /boot tmpfs 1006M 0 1006M 0% /dev/shm # pwd; du -h --max-depth=0 / 5.1G . I cannot figure out how to get the partition to see that only 5.1 GB is used. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  In the last three month I was experiencing that my internet connection started to get very slow and websites had long time to load. The first thing I made was an ping to www.google.com which showed that I was loosing pakets. Here some of the results: 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2909 ttl=53 time=48.222 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 2910 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2911 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2912 ttl=53 time=44.372 ms Days later I had to reset my router because it wasn't able to establish a correct network connection. It was after the reset when things worked again for some days. But later the same network timeouts started to happen again. I would like to know how I can analyze the problem to get to the source which is causing this timeouts. Which steps do you take to circle in this Problem? • Awstats showing 404s for pages and objects I definitely don't have...

  I have a HostGator site using Awstats and I've recently noticed the following 3 bizarre 404s: [address] [times] /images/wikimedia-button.png 1 /apple-touch-icon.png 1 /imgs/custom-space.gif 1 the first and third also carry referrers from within my site, but are 100% definitely absolutely not linked by any of my pages. I'm not too worried about it, seeing as each one has only popped up once. But I am concerned about why Awstats thinks one of my pages is referring what is apparently a wikipedia image, and why Steve Jobs is trying to haxx0r me (/joke) This is my first site to receive moderate daily usage, so I'm curious if these sorts of unique weird-o 404s just come with the territory, or if I should be double-checking something... • Realtek audio AC 97 5.1 on Windows 7: Terrible subwoofer quality

  I have a media center PC with on-board Realtek AC97 Audio. I have been using Windows XP for a couple of years with great audio quality. I just upgraded this PC with Windows 7 and installed the latest Realtek drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ At the testing screen, all the speakers works correctly (including subwoofer). Despite that, while playing any movie or music, the subwoofer quality is terrible. From it it just comes noises, in the correct rhythm but quite low and quite out of tone. I compensated the loudness by putting the other speakers lower but the sound of the subwoofer is really terrible. Is there anyone facing the same problem? Does anyone have a workaround for that? PS.: I had gone past the steps given in Terrible noises from subwoofer of ACER Aspire 6930 with Realtek sound chip but still I have a bad quality of sound. • Grub install fails while installing Ubuntu on RAID

  I'm trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 using the alternate install CD, but I keep getting stuck. I get through the first few steps of the install process easily enough (telling it what partition to install to, what user ID and password to create, time zone, etc.), but then it suddenly pops up a menu asking me what the next step in the install process is. It has "Install the GRUB boot loader on a hard disk" selected by default. When I select it, it goes to another screen with a progress bar and a label "Installing the 'grub2' package." The progress bar gets to 16%, and then I get returned to the same menu. No matter how many times I try to install grub, the exact same thing happens. I'm trying to install Ubuntu on a two disk RAID-1 array. This is the RAID card I'm using: http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=SC-SAER12-S2. Any ideas what may be causing this to happen and how I can fix it? Thanks!

  Hi All, I am very new to the VMware world. We have VMWare vCenter 4 in the production environment but we have created multiple VLAN through Cisco Switch. I want know, how I can create an isolated test environment for software testing purpose only, so anything will happen in that test vLan will not make trouble in the production environment. "Host-only networking" is the solution or there is a better way to achieve this result? My requirements A. Hosts should be able to access Internet and a Network Share drive but not Production network B. Hosts should connect each other inside the Virtual LAN C. I should be able to take automatic or periodic backup or snapshoot and deploy snapshot when necessary. Whatever your answer is, please give me steps, how to do, if possible. If I need to purchase anything, I am ready to do but I don't want to spend big money. Many thanks in advance.

• External USB attached drive works in Windows XP but not in Windows 7. How to fix?

  Earlier this week I purchased this "N52300 EZQuest Pro" external hard drive enclosure from here. I can connect the enclosure using USB 2.0 and access the files in both NTFS partitions on the MBR partitioned drive when I use either Windows XP (SP3) or Mac OS X 10.6. So it works as expected in XP & Snow Leopard. However, the enclosure does not work in Windows 7 (Home Premium) either 64-bit or 32-bit or in Ubuntu 10.04 (kernel 2.6.32-23-generic). I'm thinking this must be a Windows 7 driver problem because the enclosure works in XP & Snow Leopard. I do know that no special drivers are required to use this enclosure. It is supported using the USB mass storage drivers included with XP and OS X. It should also work fine using the mass storage support in Windows 7, no? FWIW, I have also tried using 32-bit Windows 7 on both my desktop, a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 with a Pentium Dual-Core E6500 @ 2.93GHz, and on my early 2008 MacBook. I see the same failure in both cases that I see with 64-bit Windows 7. So it doesn't appear to be specific to one hardware platform. I'm hoping someone out there can help me either get the enclosure to work in Windows 7 or convince me that the enclosure hardware is bad and should be RMAed. At the moment though an RMA seems pointless since this appears to be a (Windows 7) device driver problem. I have tried to track down any updates to the mass storage drivers included with Windows 7 but have so far come up empty. Heck, I can't even figure out how to place a bug report with Microsoft since apparently the grace period for Windows 7 email support is only a few months. I came across a link to some USB troubleshooting steps in another question. I haven't had a chance to look over the suggestions on that site or try them yet. Maybe tomorrow if I have time ... ;-) I'll finish up with some more details about the problem. When I connect the enclosure using USB to Windows 7 at first it appears everything worked. Windows detects the drive and installs a driver for it. Looking in Device Manager there is an entry under the Hard Drives section with the title, Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 USB Device. When you open Windows Disk Management the first time after the enclosure has been attached the drive appears as "Not initialize" and I'm prompted to initialize it. This is bogus. After all, the drive worked fine in XP so I know it has already been initialized, partitioned, and formatted. So of course I never try to initialize it "again". (It's a 1 GB drive and I don't want to lose the data on it). Except for this first time, the drive never shows up in Disk Management again unless I uninstall the Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 USB Device entry under Hard Drives, unplug, and then replug the enclosure. If I do that then the process in the previous paragraph repeats. In Ubuntu the enclosure never shows up at all at the file system level. Below are an excerpt from kern.log and an excerpt from the result of lsusb -v after attaching the enclosure. It appears that Ubuntu at first recongnizes the enclosure and is attempting to attach it, but encounters errors which prevent it from doing so. Today I recieved a 1394b 9 pin to 1394a 6 pin cable which allowed me to connect the "EZQuest Pro" via Firewire. Everything works. When I use Firewire I can connect whether I'm using Windows 7 or Ubuntu 10.04. I even tried booting my Gigabyte desktop as an OS X 10.6.3 Hackintosh and it worked there as well. (Though if I recall correctly, it also worked when using USB 2.0 and booting OS X on the desktop. Certainly it works with USB 2.0 and my MacBook.) I believe the firmware on the device is at the latest level available, v1.07. I base this on the excerpt below from the OS X System Profiler which shows Firmware Revision: 0x107. Bottom line: It's nice that the enclosure is actually usable when I connect with Firewire. But I am still searching for an answer as to why it does not work correctly when using USB 2.0 in Windows 7 (and Ubuntu ... but really Windows 7 is my biggest concern).   Hi Guys, In my iphone app, i need to project 3d scene into the 2D coordinates of the screen for some calculations. My objects go through various rotations, translations and scaling. So i figured i need to multiply the vertices with ModelView matrix first, then i need to multiply it with the Orthogonal projection matrix. First of all am on the right track? I have the Model View Matrix, but need the projection matrix. Is there a glorthof equivalent in ES 2.0? PS: i am new to opengl. Thanks for your help. Zippo

• Cannot add VMDK to VM that was cloned with FlexClone

  I have a virtual machine called VM-A with two VMDK's on volume VOL-A. Call these VMDK-1 (system) and VMDK-2 (data). I want to clone VMDK-2 and attach that clone to VM-A as a new disk, but I'm getting an error. Here are my steps: I use the following command to clone : clone start /vol/VOL-A/VMDK-2 /vol/VOL-A/VMDK-3 Run clone status which shows successful and I can see the new file in the volume In vCenter I edit the settings of VM-A and try to add VMDK-3, but get the following error: Failed to add disk scsi0:4, Failed to power on scsi0:4 I've tried adding this cloned disk to other VMs and get the same error. • Fast user switching is logging users off instead of switching users

  I have a netbook running Windows 8.1 Pro that will no longer allow more than one user to be logged in at the same time. The steps necessary to reproduce this are as follows: The current user presses WIN to bring up the start screen. The user clicks his name in the corner and a list of other users appears. As soon as one of the other names is clicked, the user is unceremoniously logged off without any prompts. This behavior seems to have started some time after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. Before that point, everything worked fine and more than one user could be logged in at the same time. I've tried searching for others experiencing similar problems but this appears to be unique. System Details: CPU: Intel Atom N455 @ 1.66 GHz RAM: 1 GB OS: Windows 8.1 Pro w/ Media Center 32-bit

• Are there any working implementations of the rolling hash function used in the Rabin-Karp string sea

  I'm looking to use a rolling hash function so I can take hashes of n-grams of a very large string. For example: "stackoverflow", broken up into 5 grams would be: "stack", "tacko", "ackov", "ckove", "kover", "overf", "verfl", "erflo", "rflow" This is ideal for a rolling hash function because after I calculate the first n-gram hash, the following ones are relatively cheap to calculate because I simply have to drop the first letter of the first hash and add the new last letter of the second hash. I know that in general this hash function is generated as: H = c1ak - 1 + c2ak - 2 + c3ak - 3 + ... + cka0 where a is a constant and c1,...,ck are the input characters. If you follow this link on the Rabin-Karp string search algorithm , it states that "a" is usually some large prime. I want my hashes to be stored in 32 bit integers, so how large of a prime should "a" be, such that I don't overflow my integer? Does there exist an existing implementation of this hash function somewhere that I could already use?
