  • C#: How to gracefully pass multiple conditions to Equals()

    I'm new to C#, and I'm trying to write a program that selects file types from a FileInfo list. So far I have something along the lines of: List<FileInfo> files = new List<FileInfo>(); IEnumerable<FileInfo> result = files.Where(f=>f.Extension.Equals(".jpg", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase)|| f.Extension.Equals(".gif", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ); etc Obviously I'm not happy with this solution, but I don't know how to do this otherwise in a single call. What's the better way to go about it?

  • Collectable<T> serialization, Root Namespaces on T in .xml files.

    I have a Repository Class with the following method... public T Single<T>(Predicate<T> expression) { using (var list = (Models.Collectable<T>)System.Xml.Serializer.Deserialize(typeof(Models.Collectable<T>), FileName)) { return list.Find(expression); } } Where Collectable is defined.. [Serializable] public class Collectable<T> : List<T>, IDisposable { public Collectable() { } public void Dispose() { } } And an Item that uses it is defined.. [Serializable] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot("Titles")] public partial class Titles : Collectable<Title> { } The problem is when I call the method, it expects "Collectable" to be the XmlRoot, but the XmlRoot is "Titles" (all of object Title). I have several classes that are collected in .xml files like this, but it seems pointless to rewrite the basic methods for loading each up when the generic accessors do it - but how can I enforce the proper root name for each file without hard coding methods for each one? The [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot] seems to be ignored.

    I have a List of objects public class sample { public DateTime Date; public string content; } I want to be able to create a list of new objects public class sampleWithIntervals { public DateTime startDate; public DateTime endDate; public string content; } The sample objects should be grouped into intervals based on the content. The intervals can include only those dates that are included in the original sample list. I dont know how to do this in Linq. Do something ... return *this; } }; int main() { Right right; Left left; // Assign individual object -- this works left = right; } But now, this one surprises me, I thought the template would work itself out since I already provided the = operator() to the Left class. int main() { ... std::list<Right> rightLst; std::list<Left> leftLst; // Assign a list of objects -- this doesn't compile leftLst = rightLst; } What can I do so that I could convert the rightLst to leftLst conversion in a single line?

  • Disambiguating Named Entities in Java

    I have a list of strings (company names, in this case), and a Java program that extracts a list of things that look like company names out of mostly-unstructured text. I need to match each element of extracted text to a string in the list. Caveat: the unstructured text has typos, things like "Blah, Inc." referred to as "Blah," etc. I've tried Levenshtein Edit Distance, but that fails for predictable reasons. Are there known best-practices ways of tackling this problem? Or am I back to manual data-entry?

    I had a List<myClass> myList for storing a list of items. When I had to clip this (discard any amount of items above some threshold) I used: myList.RemoveRange(threshold, myList.Count - threshold); where threshold is the max amount of things the list can contain Now I've upgraded the datatype to a Dictionary<key, myClass> myDictionary How can I basically do the same: Discard all entries above some threshold. (It doesn't matter which ones are discarded) I guess I could foreach through the keys collection and manually delete all keys/value pairs. But I was hoping there was a more elegant solution.

    This might be a dupe. I did not find enough information on this. I was discussing memory allocation for collections in .Net. Where is the memory for elements allocated in a collection? List<int> myList = new List<int>(); The variable myList is allocated on stack and it references the List object created on heap. The question is when int elements are added to the myList, where would they be created ? Can anyone point the right direction?

    In couchdb website - technical overview - security and validation - http://couchdb.apache.org/docs/overview.html - it writes that (on reader access part) "To protect document contents, CouchDB documents can have a reader list. This is an optional list of reader-names allowed to read the document. When a reader list is used, protected documents are only viewable by listed users." I have, for example, the following list, each item separated by comma: monkeys, dogs, cats pineapple, banana, orange yellow, red, blue, green silver, gold, platinum delphi, java, c++, visual basic I want to sort each line alphabetically, WITHOUT changing line order. My desired result would be: cats, dogs, monkeys banana, orange, pineapple blue, green, red, yellow gold, platinum, silver c++, delphi, java, visual basic My target list has got 3000+ lines, so it should be an automated process.     I have two oracle user defined types: Audit_Type – A normal object with two fields a string and a number Audit_Table_Type – A table of audit_types, (an array) I have a stored procedure that takes as a parameter an Audit_Table_Type. List<Audit_Type> table = new List<Audit_Type>(); var query = session.CreateSQLQuery("call Audit_Rows(Audit_Table_Type(:table))") .SetParameterList("table", table, NHibernateUtil.Custom(typeof(AuditTypeUDT))) This is what I did intuativly created the ICompositeType and just set in a list of them in but this gives me nothing close to what I wanted. I couldn’t figure out how to bind to a table at all. I have built the inline sql that would do this for me but it would destroy my shared pool (not using binds). So a General question how do I bind to complex/composite types using Nhibernate?

And the elements always show up in the same order. so another pattern might be a1,a1,a1,a2,a2,a2,a3,a3,a3,a1,a1,a1,a2,a2,a2,a3,a3,a3... or a1,a2,a3,a1,a2,a3 it will never be a2,a2,a1,a1,a3,a3... or a1,a2,a3,a2,a3,a1 etc How I determine what element is at any index in the list?

    I have a TableViewController which display a list of NewsItem objects: @interface NewsItem : NSObject { NSString *feedID; NSString *title; NSDate *published; } I'm trying to implement a Table View Controller (multiple sections) that can display the list in two ways: One divide News Items into sections which based on Published Date The other would be based on FeedID (News source). And I don't know how to structure the data source so that the code is easy to maintain. I tried to put the list of News Items into a 2 dimension Array in this case is a NSMutableArray of NSArray objects. However I got some objc_exception_throw and I don't think this is flexible enough. Could you guys give me some ideas?

    I have 2 Lists: List<User> List<UserStats> So I want to add a property Count to User (it doesn't have one now, and I can't change the implementation at this point). For a web service call, that returns json, I want to modify the User object. Basically I add the Users to a collection. So I want to add a modified user class (via anonymous functions?) to the collection before I serialize it to json. So something like: loop users { user.Count = userstats[user.ID].Count; list.Add(user); } is this possible? how?

My only problem is I want the new record at the TOP of the list, not the bottom. Is there an elegant and easy way to do this, or am I going to have to do the new element separately, or loop through the list manually?

  • zsh partially completion in aptitude/wajig

    I'm using wajig to install packages, however when i've changed my shell to zsh it turned out that zsh doesn't list all packages in completion list, for ex. apt-get install octave[TAB] (about 70 completions) but when i try wajig install octave[TAB] or aptitude install octave[TAB] zsh shows only 19 completions other shells i've tested (bash, fish) shows all ~70 completions in all 3 cases. So is there any way to 'fix' this completion in zsh?

    I have a list management appliaction that stores its data in a many-to-many relationship database. I.E. A note can be in any number of lists, and a list can have any number of notes. I also can export this data to and XML file and import it in another instance of my app for sharing lists between users. However, this is based on a legacy system where the list to note relationship was one-to-many (ideal for XML). Now a note that is in multiple lists is esentially split into two identical rows in the DB and all relation between them is lost. Question: How can I represent this many-to-many relationship in a simple, standard file format? (Preferably XML to maintain backwards compatibility)

    I am using jQuery Autocomplete on my jQUeryMobile application. It works perfect. Now I'm trying to use iScroll.js to scroll through the list of looked up items. Here is what I'am doing, http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/39/ The problem is, iscroll is applying only for the first item of the suggestion box, where as I'm not able to scroll through entire list.Please help me if I'm missing anything in my code.Please help me to acheive this using iScoll. I found one more way that we can use custom touch based scrollbar for autocomplete box http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/2/ but there is a issue that, the custom scrollbar appears only for first search and it disappears from the suggastion box when list get refreshed, Please suggest me if we can fix this, because both options are fine for me for using my autocomplete in ipad and android. or if anyone thinks there's a better way to do this than with iScroll and jScrollPane, you are wel-come I'm open to suggestions.     Hi, I am so confused about how to build up a 3-dimension lookup table. Is the template as follows: create a 3 dimensional array to store data. Then create linked list. Then create function 'insert' to put all the data into the array? As some book said, linked list should be static const, is it need to create another function to expand the list? Because the lookup table should be used in a microcontroller, it only needs to finish the operation of putting the data into the array and whenever want to find the data, it will be fast and easy to search.
