  • Release Notes for 6/7/2012

    Here are the notes for this week’s release: Pull Requests We added diff previews to the pull request creation page so that you have more context in the pull request that you’re creating. Bug Fixes Fixed an issue that prevented users from downloading files if they were using an ad blocker browser plug-in. Fixed an issue that caused harmless error messages to appear when pushing changes using Git. Fixed an issue where visiting the project openings search results would result in a non-functional search box. Fixed an issue where projects would break if users attempted to publish the project with an empty description. Known Issues The formatting of tabs on pull requests has disappeared. We’ll fix this issue early next week with another deployment. Have ideas on how to improve CodePlex? Visit our ideas page! Vote for your favorite ideas or submit a new one. Got Twitter? • Custom internal search engine [migrated]

    - by nobody
    I am building a social network, and I need a simple internal search engine that will display a list of all website users starting with the ones that have the specific keyword in their username. So here is what i need: a search engine that will take a keyword. the search engine will open a new page with a list of all website users, displaying first the users that have the specific keyword in their username. display your username in the placeholder. So, here is what I have so far: <div class="logobox r"> <form method="post" action="../sity/search.php"> <!--will redirect you to a new page with a list of all website users.--> <input type="text" class="logo" name="searchUser" placeholder="<?php echo $comObj->getSession('username')?>"> <!--will take a keyword as a imput, and will display your username in the placeholder--> <button type="submit" class="sity" value="sity">sity</button> </form> </div> And here is the searchUser function: function searchUser($keyword) { $commObj = new common; $sql = "SELECT `id`,`username`, `profile_pic` FROM ".$this->tables['user']." WHERE `username` LIKE '%".$keyword."%' AND `id` <> ".$commObj->getSession('userid'); $result = $this->selectAll($sql); unset($this->rsa); return $result; } The problem is that when you click on the search box, instead of letting you to enter a keyword, the page will logout you from the website. I still can't figure out why. Here is the link to the website: www.sity.net Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanks

  • My computer is broken after recent update attempt to 14.04

    - by user317550
    So it all started on a day much like today, because it is today but that's not the point, when I got a notification telling me I haven't upgraded to 14.04. Not due to lack of trying, however. It offered to upgrade me itself. Now keep in mind, I've tried very hard to upgrade my is from 12.04 to 14.04. Many times, I believe, due to tinkering where there shouldn't be tinkering, my BIOS are messed up. So upgrading is essentially impossible, but I wasn't about to stop it from updating for me, thinking it didn't have too much to do with BIOS as it doesn't reboot until after. So I let it go about its business and some time later I look back at it, and my unity sidebar is gone, and anytime there's text on screen it shows as those box things. The real bottom line is that I want to know my options. All of them. I would love to be able to keep the stuff on my hard drive so a hard drive swap may be an option if you guys say that would work. I just need my computer back. Let me know if I left anything out. Peace! B^)

  • SignalR cannot read property client of undefined

    - by polonskyg
    I'm trying to add SignalR to my project (ASPNET MVC 4). But I can't make it work. In the below image you can see the error I'm receiving. I've read a lot of stackoverflow posts but none of them is resolving my issue. This is what I did so far: 1) Ran Install-Package Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR -Pre 2) Added RouteTable.Routes.MapHubs(); in Global.asax.cs Application_Start() 3) If I go to http://localhost:9096/Gdp.IServer.Web/signalr/hubs I can see the file content 4) Added <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"/> to Web.Config 5) Created folder Hubs in the root of the MVC application 6) Moved jquery and signalR scripts to /Scripts/lib folder (I'm not using jquery 1.6.4, I'm using the latest) This is my Index.cshtml <h2>List of Messages</h2> <div class="container"> <input type="text" id="message" /> <input type="button" id="sendmessage" value="Send" /> <input type="hidden" id="displayname" /> <ul id="discussion"> </ul> </div> @section pageScripts { <!--Reference the SignalR library. --> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.signalR-1.0.0-rc1.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <!--Reference the autogenerated SignalR hub script. --> <script type="text/javascript" src="~/signalr/hubs"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/map.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> } This is my IServerHub.cs file (located inside Hubs folder) namespace Gdp.IServer.Ui.Web.Hubs { using Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Hubs; [HubName("iServerHub")] public class IServerHub : Hub { public void Send(string name, string message) { Clients.All.broadcastMessage(name, message); } } } And this is map.js $(function () { // Declare a proxy to reference the hub. var clientServerHub = $.connection.iServerHub; // Create a function that the hub can call to broadcast messages. clientServerHub.client.broadcastMessage = function (name, message) { $('#discussion').append('<li><strong>' + name + '</strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;' + message + '</li>'); }; // Get the user name and store it to prepend to messages. $('#displayname').val(prompt('Enter your name:', '')); // Set initial focus to message input box. $('#message').focus(); // Start the connection. $.connection.hub.start().done(function () { $('#sendmessage').click(function () { // Html encode display name and message. var encodedName = $('<div />').text($('#displayname').val()).html(); var encodedMsg = $('<div />').text($('#message').val()).html(); // Call the Send method on the hub. clientServerHub.server.send(encodedName, encodedMsg); // Clear text box and reset focus for next comment. $('#message').val('').focus(); }); }); }); The DLL's I see references for SignalR are: Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Core Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Owin Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.SystemWeb Any ideas how to get it work? Should I make any change because the scripts are in /Script/lib folder? NOTE I'm following the instruction found here on how to set up Windsor Castle to make it work with SignalR, and again, seems that the proxy cannot be created and I'm getting the same error: Cannot read property client of undefined meaning that the proxy to the hub was not created This is how I have it in the server public class IncidentServerHub : Hub and like this in the client var clientServerHub = $.connection.incidentServerHub; Again, I can see the dynamically created file here: /GdpSoftware.Server.Web/signalr/hubs So, Why the proxy is not created? Thanks in advance!!! Guillermo.

  • Add collection or array to wpf resource dictionary

    - by Chris Cap
    I've search high and low and can't find an answer to this. I have two questions How do you create an array or collection in XAML. I've got an array I want to stick in there and bind to a combo box. My first idea was to put an ItemsControl in a resource dictionary, but the ItemsSource of a combo box expects IEnumerable so that didn't work. Here's what I've tried in my resource dictionary and neither works <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </ItemsControl> <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList2"> <ComboBoxItem>AL</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CA</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CN</ComboBoxItem> </ItemsControl> and here's how I bind to it <ComboBox SelectedValue="{Binding Path=State}" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource stateList2}}" > </ComboBox> EDIT: UPDATED I got this first part to work this way <col:ArrayList x:Key="stateList3"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </col:ArrayList> However, I'd rather not use an array list, I'd like to use a generic list so if anyone knows how please let me know. EDIT UPDATE: I guess XAML has very limited support for generics so maybe an array list is the best I can do for now, but I would still like help on the second question if anyone has an anser 2nd. I've tried referencing a merged resource dictionary in my XAML and had problems because under Window.resources I had more than just the dictionary so it required me to add x:Key. Once I add the key, the system can no longer find the items in my resource dictionary. I had to move the merged dictionary to Grid.Resources instead. Ideally I'd like to reference the merged dictionary in the app.xaml but I have the same problem Here's some sample code. This first part required an x:key to compile because I have converter and it complained that every item must have a key if there is more than one <UserControl.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> I had to change it to this <UI:BaseStep.Resources> <win:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="VisibilityConverter" /> </UI:BaseStep.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/ResourcesD.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Grid.Resources> </Grid> Thank you

  • Jquery datepicker popup not closing on select date in IE8

    - by Notorious2tall
    I've got a web form with a start date field. I've tied a jquery datepicker to the txt field. Now when I choose a date in FF, the selected date is populated in the text box and the calendar popup closes. However when I do the same thing in IE8, the selected date is populated in the text box but the popup remains open. I've also noticed that a script error is generated as soon as I select a date in the popup calendar. I'm using jquery 1.3.2, jquery-ui 1.7.2, and .NET 3.5. Here's an example of my code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#<%=txtStartDate.ClientID%>").datepicker({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, showButtonPanel: true, showOn: 'button', buttonImage: '/_layouts/images/CALENDAR.GIF', buttonImageOnly: true }); }); </script> <div id="stylized"> <asp:ValidationSummary ID="vs" runat="server" CssClass="messages-error" HeaderText=" Action required before the form can be submitted." ForeColor="" ValidationGroup="sh" /> <div class="formrow"> <div class="ms-formlabel formlabel"> <asp:Label ID="lblStartDate" runat="server" CssClass="ms-standardheader" AssociatedControlID="txtStartDate">Start Date:</asp:Label> </div> <div class="ms-formbody formfield"> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="reqStartDate" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtStartDate" ErrorMessage="Start Date is a required field." Text="*" Display="Dynamic" ValidationGroup="sh"></asp:RequiredFieldValidator> <asp:CompareValidator ID="cvStartDate" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtStartDate" ErrorMessage="Date must be in the format MM/DD/YYYY" Text="*" Display="Dynamic" ValidationGroup="sh" Operator="DataTypeCheck" Type="Date"></asp:CompareValidator> <asp:TextBox ID="txtStartDate" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <span class="formMessage">ex. MM/DD/YYYY</span> </div> </div> <div id="buttonrow"> <asp:Button ID="btnSubmit" runat="server" Text="Submit" CssClass="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" OnClick="Submit_Click" ValidationGroup="sh" /> <asp:Button ID="btnCancel" runat="server" Text="Cancel" CssClass="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" OnClick="Cancel_Click" CausesValidation="false" /> </div> </div> Here's the script error I get in IE when I select the date: 'length' is null or not an object WebResource.axd Here's the code where the error is being thrown from: function ValidatorOnChange(event) { if (!event) { event = window.event; } Page_InvalidControlToBeFocused = null; var targetedControl; if ((typeof(event.srcElement) != "undefined") && (event.srcElement != null)) { targetedControl = event.srcElement; } else { targetedControl = event.target; } var vals; if (typeof(targetedControl.Validators) != "undefined") { vals = targetedControl.Validators; } else { if (targetedControl.tagName.toLowerCase() == "label") { targetedControl = document.getElementById(targetedControl.htmlFor); vals = targetedControl.Validators; } } var i; for (i = 0; i < vals.length; i++) { ValidatorValidate(vals[i], null, event); } ValidatorUpdateIsValid(); } It happens on the .length in the for loop at the end. Vals is null and isn't found in the previous if/else. I've stepped through the javascript and if (typeof(targetedControl.Validators) != "undefined") returns false and then if (targetedControl.tagName.toLowerCase() == "label") returns false too. Thus the length is null or not an object error. Now I'm not sure if the datepicker popup not closing in IE and the script error in the WebResources.axd file are related errors, but I'm leaning that way. Can anyone tell me why the popup isn't closing?

  • More information wanted on error: CREATE ASSEMBLY for assembly failed because assembly failed verif

    - by turnip.cyberveggie
    I have a small application that uses SQL Server 2005 Express with CLR stored procedures. It has been successfully installed and runs on many computers running XP and Vista. To create the assembly the following SQL is executed (names changed to protect the innocent): CREATE ASSEMBLY myAssemblyName FROM 'c:\pathtoAssembly\myAssembly.dll' On one computer (a test machine that reflects other computers targeted for installation) that is running Vista and has some very aggressive security policy restrictions I receive the following error: << Start Error Message Msg 6218, Level 16, State 2, Server domain\servername, Line 2 CREATE ASSEMBLY for assembly 'myAssembly' failed because assembly 'myAssembly' failed verification. Check if the referenced assemblies are up-to-date and trusted (for external_access or unsafe) to execute in the database. [ : myProcSupport.Axis::Proc9][mdToken=0x600000c] [HRESULT 0x8007000E] - Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.... << End Error Message The C# DLL is defined as “Safe” as it only uses data contained in the database. The DLL is not normally signed, but I provided a signed version to test and received the same results. The installation is being done by someone else, and I don’t have access to the box, but they are executing scripts that I provided and work on other computers. I have tried to find information about this error beyond what the results of the script provide, but I haven’t found anything helpful. The person executing the script to create the assembly is logged in with an Admin account, is running CMD as admin, is connecting to the DB via Windows Authentication, has been added to the dbo_owner role, and added to the server role SysAdmin with the hopes that it is a permissions issue. This hasn't changed anything. Do I need to configure SQL Server 2005 Express differently for this environment? Is this error logged anywhere other than just the output from SQLCMD? What could cause this error? Could Vista security policies cause this? I don’t have access to the computer (the customer is doing the testing) so I can’t examine the box myself. TIA

  • How to prevent jQuery FancyBox from closing immediately after submit?

    - by Dimitri
    Hi! I'm loading an inline registration form in a FancyBox from jQuery. However after submitting the form, the box immediately closes while there is some feedback that I want to show the user in the FancyBox itself. This feedback is generated on the server side and is printed in the FancyBox. How can I make the box only closing when their is no feedback anymore? I was thinking about using ajax to just refresh the FancyBox itself and not the whole page after refreshing. But I just can't figure out how this ajax $.ajax({type, cache, url, data, success}); works... Also it seems like there's no reaction from the 'submit bind' in the javascript. I hope someone can help me with this problem. I paste my code below. If any questions, plz ask.. Thx in advance! This is the javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#various1").fancybox({ 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none', 'scrolling' : 'no', 'titleShow' : false, 'onClosed' : function() { $("#registration_error").hide(); } }); }); $("#registration_form").bind("submit", function() { if ($("#registration_error").val() != "Registration succeeded!") { $("#registration_error").show(); $.fancybox.resize(); return false; } $.fancybox.showActivity(); $.ajax({ type : "POST", cache : false, url : "/data/login.php", data : $(this).serializeArray(), success : function(data) { $.fancybox(data); } }); return false; }); This is the inline form that I show in the FancyBox: <div style="display: none;"> <div id="registration" style="width:227px;height:250px;overflow:auto;padding:7px;"> <?php echo "<p id=\"registration_error\">".$feed."</p>"; ?> <form id="registration_form" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] ?>" method="post"> <p> <label for="username">Username: </label> <input type="text" id="login_name" name="username" size="30" /> </p> <p> <label for="password">Password: </label> <input type="password" id="pass" name="pw" size="30" /> </p> <p> <label for="repeat_password">Repeat password: </label> <input type="password" id="rep_pass" name="rep_pw" size="30" /> </p> <p> <input type="submit" value="Register" name="register" id="reg" /> </p> <p> <em></em> </p> </form> </div> </div>

  • Validation Summary for Lists using Data Annotations with MVC

    - by David Liddle
    I currently use a custom method to display validation error messages for lists but would like to replace this system for using with Data Annotations. In summary on validation of my form, I want to display "*" next to each input that is incorrect and also provide a Validation Summary at the bottom that relates each error message to the particular item in the list. e.g. say if validation failed on the 2nd list item on a Name input box and the 4th item on an Address input box the validation summary would display [2] Name is invalid [4] Address is invalid Please ignore if there are mistakes in the code below. I'm just writing this as an example. The code below shows how I was able to do it using my custom version of adding model errors but was wondering how to do this using Data Annotations? //Domain Object public class MyObject { public int ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Address { get; set; } public bool IsValid { get { return (GetRuleViolations().Count() == 0); } } public void IEnumerable<RuleViolation> GetRuleViolations() { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(Name)) yield return new RuleViolation(ID, "Name", "Name is invalid"); if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(Address)) yield return new RuleViolation(ID, "Address", "Address is invalid"); yield break; } } //Rule Violation public class RuleViolation { public int ID { get; private set; } public string PropertyName { get; private set; } public string ErrorMessage { get; private set; } } //View <% for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { %> <p> <%= Html.Hidden("myObjects[" + i + "].ID", i) %> Name: <%= Html.TextBox("myObjects[" + i + "].Name") %> <br /> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("myObjects[" + i + "].Name", "*")<br /> Address: <%= Html.TextBox("myObjects[" + i + "].Address") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("myObjects[" + i + "].Address", "*")<br /> </p> <% } %> <p><%= Html.ValidationSummary() %> //Controller public ActionResult MyAction(IList<MyObject> myObjects) { foreach (MyObject o in myObjects) { if (!o.IsValid) ModelState.AddModelErrors(o.GetRuleViolations(), o.GetType().Name); } if (!Model.IsValid) { return View(); } } public static class ModelStateExtensions { public static void AddModelError(this ModelStateDictionary modelState, RuleViolation issue, string name) { string key = String.Format("{0}[{1}].{2}", name, issue.ID, issue.PropertyName); string error = String.Format("[{0}] {1}", (issue.ID + 1), issue.ErrorMessage); //above line determines the [ID] ErrorMessage to be //displayed in the Validation Summary modelState.AddModelError(key, error); }

  • Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

    - by Truong
    Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn. Thanks so much Here is the AJAX: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $(".submit").click(function() { var comment = $("#comment").val(); var post_id = $("#post").val(); var dataString = '&comment=' + comment if(comment=='') { alert('Fill something in please!'); } else { $("#flash").show(); $("#flash").fadeIn(400).html('<img src="noworries.jpg" /> '); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "commentajax.php", data: dataString, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("ol#update").append(html); $("ol#update li:last").fadeIn("slow"); $("#flash").hide(); } }); }return false; }); }); </script> Here is the index\form area: <body> <div id="container"><img src="banner.jpg" width="890" height="150" alt="title" /></div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <div id="flash"></div> <div id="container"> <form action="#" method="post"> <textarea name="comment" id="comment" cols="35" rows="4"></textarea><br /> <input name="submit" type="submit" class="submit" id="submit" value=" Submit Comment " /><br /> </form> </div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <?php include('config.php'); //$post_id value comes from the POSTS table $prefix="I'm happy when"; $sql=mysql_query("select * from comments order by com_id desc"); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $comment=$row['com_dis']; ?> <!--Displaying comments--> <div id="container"> <class="box"> <?php echo "$prefix $comment"; ?> </div> <?php } ?> Here is my commentajax.php <?php include('config.php'); if($_POST) { $comment=$_POST['comment']; $comment=mysql_real_escape_string($comment); mysql_query("INSERT INTO comments(com_id,com_dis) VALUES ('NULL', '$comment')"); } ?> <li class="box"><br /> <?php echo $comment; ?> </li> I'm sorry for so much code but I just started learning this four days ago and this is probably one of the last bugs until the website is functional.

  • Django TemplateSyntaxError only on live server (templates exist)

    - by Tom
    I'm getting a strange error that only occurs on the live server. My Django templates directory is set up like so base.html two-column-base.html portfolio index.html extranet base.html index.html The portfolio pages work correctly locally on multiple machines. They inherit from either the root base.html or two-column-base.html. However, now that I've posted them to the live box (local machines are Windows, live is Linux), I get a TemplateSyntaxError: "Caught TemplateDoesNotExist while rendering: base.html" when I try to load any portfolio pages. It seems to be a case where the extends tag won't work in that root directory (???). Even if I do a direct_to_template on two-column-base.html (which extends base.html), I get that error. The extranet pages all work perfectly, but those templates all live inside the /extranet folder and inherit from /extranet/base.html. Possible issues I've checked: file permissions on the server are fine the template directory is correct on the live box (I'm using os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__)) to make things work across machines) files exist and the /templates directories exactly match my local copy removing the {% extends %} block from the top of any broken template causes the templates to render without a problem manually starting a shell session and calling get_template on any of the files works, but trying to render it blows up with the same exception on any of the extended templates. Doing the same with base.html, it renders perfectly (base.html also renders via direct_to_template) Django 1.2, Python 2.6 on Webfaction. Apologies in advance because this is my 3rd or 4th "I'm doing something stupid" question in a row. The only x-factor I can think of is this is my first time using Mercurial instead ofsvn. Not sure how I could have messed things up via that. EDIT: One possible source of problems: local machine is Python 2.5, live is 2.6. • "type" Command Not Working As Expected on Git Bash

    - by trysis
    The type command, in Linux, returns the location, on the filesystem, of the given file, if it is in the current folder or the $PATH. This functionality is also available through Windows with the Git Bash command line program. The command also returns a file's location given the file without its extension (.exe, .vbs, etc.) However, I have run into what seems like a strange corner case where the file exists on the $PATH but doesn't get returned using the command. I am thinking of buying a new computer soon, so I looked up the method of transferring the license key from one computer to another, in preparation for actually doing this. The method I found mentioned the files slmgr.vbs and slui.exe, both of which reside in the C:/Windows\System32 folder, which is in my $PATH, as usual for a Windows computer. However, these two files aren't showing up when I use the type command. Also, neither gets executed when I call the files as commands without their extensions in Git Bash, and only slmgr.vbs gets executed when I call them with the extensions. Finally, slmgr.vbs is shown when listing the folder's contents in Git Bash, as well, but slui.exe isn't. I thought this might have to do with permissions, and, indeed, both files have very restrictive permissions, as you can see in the pictures below, but they both have the same permissions, which wouldn't explain why one gets executed and the other doesn't when called directly, nor why one file is listed on command line but the other isn't. C:\Windows\System32 folder, proving the files exist: File permissions for the Users and Administrators groups for the two files (they are identical): And the folder: type command and its output in Git Bash for the 2 files, plus listing the files in the folder (using grep to filter as the folder is huge), as well as listing part of the $PATH (keep in mind, for all these, that Git Bash changes the paths as they are displayed): Sean@MYPC ~ $ type -a slmgr sh.exe": type: slmgr: not found Sean@MYPC ~ $ type -a slmgr.vbs sh.exe": type: slmgr.vbs: not found Sean@MYPC ~ $ type -a slui sh.exe": type: slui: not found Sean@MYPC ~ $ type -a slui.exe sh.exe": type: slui.exe: not found Sean@MYPC ~ $ slmgr sh.exe": slmgr: command not found Sean@MYPC ~ $ slmgr.vbs /c/WINDOWS/system32/slmgr.vbs: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `(' /c/WINDOWS/system32/slmgr.vbs: line 2: `' Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. • How to move child element from one parent to another using jQuery

    - by Kapslok
    I am using the jQuery DataTables plugin. I would like to move the search box (.dataTables_filter) and number of records to display dropdown (.dataTables_length) from their parent element (.dataTables_wrapper) to another div on my page without losing any registered javascript behavior. For instance the search box has a function attached to the 'keyup' event and I want to keep that intact. The DOM looks like this: <body> <div id="parent1"> <div class="dataTables_wrapper" id="table1_wrapper"> <div class="dataTables_length" id="table1_length"> <select size="1" name="table1_length"> <option value="10">10</option> <option value="25">25</option> <option value="50">50</option> <option value="100">100</option> </select> </div> <div class="dataTables_filter" id="table1_filter"> <input type="text" class="search"> </div> <table id="table1"> ... </table> </div> </div> <div id="parent2"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Link A</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link B</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link C</a></li> </ul> </div> </body> This is what I would like the DOM to look like after the move: <body> <div id="parent1"> <div class="dataTables_wrapper" id="table1_wrapper"> <table id="table1"> ... </table> </div> </div> <div id="parent2"> <div class="dataTables_filter" id="table1_filter"> <input type="text" class="search"> </div> <div class="dataTables_length" id="table1_length"> <select size="1" name="table1_length"> <option value="10">10</option> <option value="25">25</option> <option value="50">50</option> <option value="100">100</option> </select> </div> <ul> <li><a href="#">Link A</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link B</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link C</a></li> </ul> </div> </body> I've been looking at the .append(), .appendTo(), .prepend() and .prependTo() functions but haven't had any luck with these in practice. I've also looked at the .parent() and .parents() functions, but can't seem to code a workable solution. I have also considered changing the CSS so that the elements are absolutely positioned - but to be frank the page is setup with fluid elements all over, and I really want these elements to be floated in their new parents. Any help with this is much appreciated.

  • Chaining CSS classes in IE6 - Trying to find a jQuery solution?

    - by Mike Baxter
    Right, perhaps I ask the impossible? I consider myself fairly new to Javscript and jQuery, but that being said, I have written some fairly complex code recently so I am definitely getting there... however I am now possed with a rather interesting issue at my current freelance contract. The previous web coder has taken a Grid-960 approach to the HTML and as a result has used chained classes to style many of the elements. The example below is typical of what can be found in the code: <div class='blocks four-col-1 orange highlight'>Some content</div> And in the css there will be different declarations for: (not actual css... but close enough) .blocks {margin-right:10px;} .orange {background-image:url(someimage.jpg);} .highlight {font-weight:bold;} .four-col-1 {width:300px;} and to make matters worse... this is in the CSS: .blocks.orange.highlight {background-colour:#dd00ff;} Anyone not familiar with this particular bug can read more on it here: http://www.ryanbrill.com/archives/multiple-classes-in-ie/ it is very real and very annoying. Without wanting to go into the merrits of not chaining classes (I told them this, but it is no longer feasible to change their approach... 100 hand coded pages into a 150 page website, no CMS... sigh) and without the luxury of being able to change the way these blocks are styled... can anyone advise me on the complexity and benefits between any of my below proposed approaches or possible other options that would adequately solve this problem. Potential Solution 1 Using conditional comments I am considering loading a jquery script only for IE6 that: Reads the class of all divs in a certain section of the page and pushes to an array creates empty boxes off screen with only one of the classes applied at a time Reads the applied CSS values for each box Re-applies these styles to the individual box, somehow bearing in mind the order in which they are called and overwriting conflicting instructions as required Potential Solution 2 read the class of all divs in a certain section of the page and push to an array Scan the document for links to style sheets Ajax grab the stylesheets and traverse looking for matching names to those in class array Apply styles as needed Potential Solution 3 Create an IE6 only stylesheet containing the exact style to be applied as a unique name (ie: class='blocks orange highlight' becomes class='blocks-orange-highlight') Traverse the document in IE6 and convert all spaces in class declarations to hyphens and reapply classes based on new style name Summary: Solution 1 allows the people at this company to apply any styles in the future and the script will adjust as needed. However it does not allow for the chained style to be added, only the individual style... it is also processor intensive and time consuming, but also the most likely to be converted into a plugin that could be used the world over Solution 2 is a potential nightmare to code. But again will allow for an endless number of updates without breaking Solution 3 will require someone at the companty to hardcode the new styles every time they make a change, and if they don't, IE6 will break. Ironically the site, whilst needing to conform to IE6 in a limited manner, does not need to run wihtout javascript (they've made the call... have JS or go away), so consider all jQuery and JS solutions to be 'game on'. Did I mention how much i hate IE6? Anyway... any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. I will continue to develop my own solution and if I discover one that can be turned into a jQuery plugin I will post it here in the comments. Regards, Mike.

  • .NET Exception error, what does this error means?

  • System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).

    Hi, I have developed an application using .net 3.5 and have deployed it as an .exe on a number of machines with the same environment. However, on one particular machine I get the following error. • Passing a variable from Excel 2007 Custom Task Pane to Hosted PowerShell

    - by Uros Calakovic
    I am testing PowerShell hosting using C#. Here is a console application that works: using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using System.Management.Automation; using System.Management.Automation.Runspaces; using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; namespace ConsoleApplication3 { class Program { static void Main() { Application app = new Application(); app.Visible = true; app.Workbooks.Add(XlWBATemplate.xlWBATWorksheet); Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(); runspace.Open(); runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("Application", app); Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline("$Application"); Collection<PSObject> results = null; try { results = pipeline.Invoke(); foreach (PSObject pob in results) { Console.WriteLine(pob); } } catch (RuntimeException re) { Console.WriteLine(re.GetType().Name); Console.WriteLine(re.Message); } } } } I first create an Excel.Application instance and pass it to the hosted PowerShell instance as a varible named $Application. This works and I can use this variable as if Excel.Application was created from within PowerShell. I next created an Excel addin using VS 2008 and added a user control with two text boxes and a button to the addin (the user control appears as a custom task pane when Excel starts). The idea was this: when I click the button a hosted PowerShell instance is created and I can pass to it the current Excel.Application instance as a variable, just like in the first sample, so I can use this variable to automate Excel from PowerShell (one text box would be used for input and the other one for output. Here is the code: using System; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Management.Automation; using System.Management.Automation.Runspaces; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel; namespace POSHAddin { public partial class POSHControl : UserControl { public POSHControl() { InitializeComponent(); } private void btnRun_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { txtOutput.Clear(); Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application app = Globals.ThisAddIn.Application; Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(); runspace.Open(); runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("Application", app); Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline( "$Application | Get-Member | Out-String"); app.ActiveCell.Value2 = "Test"; Collection<PSObject> results = null; try { results = pipeline.Invoke(); foreach (PSObject pob in results) { txtOutput.Text += pob.ToString() + "-"; } } catch (RuntimeException re) { txtOutput.Text += re.GetType().Name; txtOutput.Text += re.Message; } } } } The code is similar to the first sample, except that the current Excel.Application instance is available to the addin via Globals.ThisAddIn.Application (VSTO generated) and I can see that it is really a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application instance because I can use things like app.ActiveCell.Value2 = "Test" (this actually puts the text into the active cell). But when I pass the Excel.Application instance to the PowerShell instance what gets there is an instance of System.__ComObject and I can't figure out how to cast it to Excel.Application. When I examine the variable from PowerShell using $Application | Get-Member this is the output I get in the second text box: TypeName: System.__ComObject Name MemberType Definition ---- ---------- ---------- CreateObjRef Method System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjRef CreateObj... Equals Method System.Boolean Equals(Object obj) GetHashCode Method System.Int32 GetHashCode() GetLifetimeService Method System.Object GetLifetimeService() GetType Method System.Type GetType() InitializeLifetimeService Method System.Object InitializeLifetimeService() ToString Method System.String ToString() My question is how can I pass an instance of Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application from a VSTO generated Excel 2007 addin to a hosted PowerShell instance, so I can manipulate it from PowerShell? (I have previously posted the question in the Microsoft C# forum without an answer)

  • Actionscript 3: Monitoring the activity level for multiple Microphones doesn't seem to work.

    - by Dave
    For a project I want to show all available webcams and microphones, so that the user can easily select whichever webcam/microphone combination they prefer. I run into an issue with the microphones listing though. Each microphone is listed with an activity animation and it's name. I am able to list all Microphones just fine (using the Microphone.names Array), but it seems like I can only get the activity viewer to work for one microphone. The other microphones show up with '-1' activity, which (as far as I know) is Flex for 'present, but not in use'. When unplugging the microphone that does show activity, the next one (in my case, the mic-in line on my motherboard) shows up with '0' activity (it's not connected, so that makes sense). During my testing I have a total of 3 microphones available, the not-connected onboard mic-in port, and two connected microphones. For testing purposes I use a timer that traces the current microphone activity each 100ms and the graph is also shown. It does not seem to matter what default microphone I set via flash' settings panel. The code I've only attached the revelant code snippets below to make it easier for you to read through them. Please let me know if you prefer the entire code. Main application.mxml Note: cont is a VBox. i is defined before this code snippet. var mics:Array = Microphone.names; for(i=0; i < mics.length; i++){ var mic:settingsMicEntry = new assets.settingsMicEntry; mic.d = {name: mics[i], index: i}; cont.addChild(mic); } assets/settingsMicEntry.mxml timer is defined before this code snippet. the SoundTransform is added to silence local microphone playback. Excluding this code does not solve the problem, sadly (I've tried). display is an MXML Canvas object. mic = Microphone.getMicrophone(d.index); if(mic){ // Temporary: The Microphones' visualizer var bar:Box = new Box(); bar.y = 50; bar.height = 0; bar.width = 66; bar.setStyle("backgroundColor", 0x003300); display.addChild(bar); var tf:SoundTransform = new SoundTransform(0); mic.setLoopBack(true); mic.soundTransform = tf; timer = new Timer(100); timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, function(e:TimerEvent):void{ var h:int = Math.floor((display.height/100)*mic.activityLevel); bar.height = (h>-1) ? h : 0; bar.y = (h>-1) ? display.height-h : display.height; trace('TIMER: '+h+' from '+d.name); }); timer.start(); } I'm pulling my hear out here, so any help is much appreciated! Thanks, -Dave Ps.: Pardon the messiness of the code!

  • Why does this valid Tkinter code crash when mixed with a bit of PyWin32?

    - by Erlog
    So I'm making a very small program for personal use in tkinter, and I've run into a really strange wall. I'm mixing tkinter with the pywin32 bindings because I really hate everything to do with the syntax and naming conventions of pywin32, and it feels like tkinter gets more done with far less code. The strangeness is happening in the transition between the pywin32 clipboard watching and my program's reaction to it in tkinter. My window and all its controls are being handled in tkinter. The pywin32 bindings are doing clipboard watching and clipboard access when the clipboard changes. From what I've gathered about the way the clipboard watching pieces of pywin32 work, you can make it work with anything you want as long as you provide pywin32 with the hwnd value of your window. I'm doing that part, and it works when the program first starts. It just doesn't seem to work when the clipboard changes. When the program launches, it grabs the clipboard and puts it into the search box and edit box just fine. When the clipboard is modified, the event I want to fire off is firing off...except that event that totally worked before when the program launched is now causing a weird hang instead of doing what it's supposed to do. I can print the clipboard contents to stdout all I want if the clipboard changes, but not put that same data into a tkinter widget. It only hangs like that if it starts to interact with any of my tkinter widgets after being fired off by a clipboard change notification. It feels like there's some pywin32 etiquette I've missed in adapting the clipboard-watching sample code I was using over to my tkinter-using program. Tkinter apparently doesn't like to produce stack traces or error messages, and I can't really even begin to know what to look for trying to debug it with pdb. Here's the code: #coding: utf-8 #Clipboard watching cribbed from ## {{{ http://code.activestate.com/recipes/355593/ (r1) import pdb from Tkinter import * import win32clipboard import win32api import win32gui import win32con import win32clipboard def force_unicode(object, encoding="utf-8"): if isinstance(object, basestring) and not isinstance(object, unicode): object = unicode(object, encoding) return object class Application(Frame): def __init__(self, master=None): self.master = master Frame.__init__(self, master) self.pack() self.createWidgets() self.hwnd = self.winfo_id() self.nextWnd = None self.first = True self.oldWndProc = win32gui.SetWindowLong(self.hwnd, win32con.GWL_WNDPROC, self.MyWndProc) try: self.nextWnd = win32clipboard.SetClipboardViewer(self.hwnd) except win32api.error: if win32api.GetLastError () == 0: # information that there is no other window in chain pass else: raise self.update_search_box() self.word_search() def word_search(self): #pdb.set_trace() term = self.searchbox.get() self.resultsbox.insert(END, term) def update_search_box(self): clipboardtext = "" if win32clipboard.IsClipboardFormatAvailable(win32clipboard.CF_TEXT): win32clipboard.OpenClipboard() clipboardtext = win32clipboard.GetClipboardData() win32clipboard.CloseClipboard() if clipboardtext != "": self.searchbox.delete(0,END) clipboardtext = force_unicode(clipboardtext) self.searchbox.insert(0, clipboardtext) def createWidgets(self): self.button = Button(self) self.button["text"] = "Search" self.button["command"] = self.word_search self.searchbox = Entry(self) self.resultsbox = Text(self) #Pack everything down here for "easy" layout changes later self.searchbox.pack() self.button.pack() self.resultsbox.pack() def MyWndProc (self, hWnd, msg, wParam, lParam): if msg == win32con.WM_CHANGECBCHAIN: self.OnChangeCBChain(msg, wParam, lParam) elif msg == win32con.WM_DRAWCLIPBOARD: self.OnDrawClipboard(msg, wParam, lParam) # Restore the old WndProc.
