• Mac OS date command - getting higher temporal resolution

  Hey all, I am trying to use the date command in Terminal on multiple Mac OS X machines that are synced via NTP to synchronize some code in a program. Essentially I am running a program... MyProgram with arguments[date] I can get date to give me the seconds since the Unix epoch with the %M specifier. When I try to use %N to get nanosecond resolution, date just returns N. Is there anyway to get date to give me finer then second resolution? I wouldn't even mind passing two arguments such as (date +%M):arg2 And then converting units in the program. • How to embed a Python interpreter in a PyQT widget

  I want to be able to bring up an interactive python terminal from my python application. Some, but not all, variables in my program needs to be exposed to the interpreter. Currently I use a sub-classed and modified QPlainTextEdit and route all "commands" there to eval or exec, and keep track of a separate namespace in a dict. • jQuery UI AutoComplete remote json response question

  I was using geonames.org to autocomplete city and state but found it to be far too slow to be reliable. My code is as follows, and does work (wait about 10 seconds to see the autocomplete results) Old (working) code here: http://jsbin.com/umewo3/2/edit Now I am using YQL as they provide a much quicker response. The issue is that I don't seem to understand how to properly map the response. • Hibernate constraint ConstraintViolationException. Is there an easy way to ignore duplicate entries?

  Basically I've got the below schema and I'm inserting records if they don't exists. However when it comes to inserting a duplicate it throws and error as I would expect. My question is whether there is an easy way to make Hibernate to just ignore inserts which would in effect insert duplicates? • How can I create a web based administration interface.

  Hi all, I'm planning to create a simple web based interface that stores administration input in json format (for use later by an applicaiton running on the same host) example json output is here: http://www.json.org/example.html The content would be user contacts (email, name, phone number, photo etc..) There would need to be a conf file per logged in user. and an administrator user for viewing all config files in his group. I'm wondering what technology is best to create this framework.   I'm a lone developer at the moment; please share you experiences on what is a good VC setup for a lone developer. My constraints are; I work on multiple machines and need to keep them synced up Sometimes I work offline I'm currently using Subversion(just the client to a remote server), and that is working ok. I'm interested in mecurial and git DVCS, but none of their use-cases make sense to my situation. EDIT: I've migrated my active development to Fossil http://www.fossil-scm.org/ after trialing it with a client. I really like the features to autosync my repositories(reducing accidental forks), the documentation support(both wiki and embedded/versioned) that supports my need to document the code and the project in different spaces, the easy to configure issue tracker, nice access control, skinnable web interface and helpful community.

  I'm writing an ANT task in Java. In my build.xml I specify parameters, which should be read from my java class. Problems occur, when I use special characters, like german umlauts (Ö,Ä,Ü) in these parameters. In my java task they appear as ?-characters (using System.out.print). All my files are encoded as UTF-8. and my build.xml has the corresponding declaration: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> For the details of writing the task: I do it according to http://ant.apache.org/manual/develop.html (especially Point 5 nested elements).   Hi We're using the castle scheduler component: http://using.castleproject.org/display/Comp/Castle.Components.Scheduler?showChildren=false I have a wcf service which creates the tasks and that does it's job fine. I then have a console app running (will be a windows service eventually) which should then keep an eye out for tasks to run. Thing is the each create their own scheduler in the DB but they both have the same clusterid. Should the console app be able to run the tasks created by the wcf service?   I am trying to send a simple XML file of the format given in http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/display/HUDSON/Monitoring+external+jobs . I was able to send it easily and was getting desired result!! Then I tried to build this XML file using python script and it was giving me the exact file that I wanted without any problem. But when I tried to run this and send it to Hudson, I was getting the error - "No module named dom.minidom" . I checked again by executing in Python IDLE and it ws working fine but when I tried to send it again, I was getting the same error.. plz help..

• jPlayer problem in Firefox - also throws error from jQuery?! Not related to OGG support.

  I've been working on a small SVG website, http://docroot.ca/ - the SVG part has been working out pretty well. • PDF writeHTML for rendering tables

  I'm using TCPDF and following this example which uses writeHTML and heredoc syntax to write a table. http://www.tcpdf.org/examples/example_048.phps I'm trying to do though is switch the font using setFont before writing each column. This means I have to break the html and write it on different pieces (see pseudo code). But once I break the HTML like that, it doesn't work, I think because it becomes invalid. writeHTML <tr> writeHTML first column setFont() writeHTML second column writeHTML </tr> I want to use writeHTML because it helps me write the table without having to manually construct. But how can I make modifications before I output each cell?

Could anyone please explain the following line of code, found on http://docs.openttd.org/ai__cargo_8cpp_source.html return (AICargo::TownEffect)::CargoSpec::Get(cargo_type)->town_effect; If this line was: return (AICargo::TownEffect) ::CargoSpec::Get(cargo_type)->town_effect; (note the space between TownEffect) and the ::) then I would understand it fine. However there is no whitespace in that document*, which would mean (AICargo::TownEffect) is the left operand of the :: operator. How does this code work/compile? Or are the two things equivilent due to some obscure C++ rule? *It's the same in the cpp file as well.

• Loading Youtube Iframe API with RequireJS

  I'm trying to use the Youtube Iframe API inside a module definded with Require JS. As this API is loaded async and calls a function once is loaded, I used a requireJS plugin called "async", that worked before with google maps api. However, this time something isn't working. My module starts this way: define(['text!fmwk/widgets/video/video.html','fmwk/utils/browser','async!http://www.youtube.com/iframe_api'], function (videoTpl,root) { ... }); and chrome console fires this error: Uncaught Error: Load timeout for modules: async!http://www.youtube.com/iframe_api_unnormalized3,async!http://www.youtube.com/iframe_api http://requirejs.org/docs/errors.html#timeout If I don't use async plugin the object YT or its functions are undefinded, and the same happens if I download the API code. The API is loaded sometimes if I put an script tag in the head tag of the html file. All this is expected, but I don't understand because async plugin fails. Thank you for your attention and help :)

I have tried using Rome and keep getting the following error (tried googling without success), also the code I am running that generates the error is the demo code (so I get the feeling Rome won't work with GAE) java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdom/JDOMException at com.sun.syndication.io.SyndFeedOutput.<init>(SyndFeedOutput.java:44) What I am looking for is recommendations for a simple Java library to create and publish an Atom feed from within Google App Engine. • module compiled with swig not found by python

  Hello, I've a problem with SWIG and python. I've a c-class that compiles correctly, but the python script says it can't find the module. I compile with: swig -c++ -python codes/codes.i g++ -c -Wall -O4 -fPIC -pedantic codes/*.cc g++ -I/usr/include/python2.6 -shared codes/codes_wrap.cxx *.o -o _codes.so This gives me a _codes.so file, as I would expect, but then I have this python file: import sys import codes (rest of the code omitted) It gives me: Traceback (most recent call last): File "script.py", line 3, in <module> import codes ImportError: No module named codes According to http://www.swig.org/Doc1.3/Introduction.html#Introduction_nn8 this is all I should have to do... The files are in the same directory, so the path should not be a problem ?

  Here is my use case I have a search model with two actions search_set and search_show. 1 - A user loads the home page which contains a search_form, rendered via a partial (search_form). 2 - User does a search, and the request goes to search_set, the search is saved and a redirect happens to search_show page which again renders the search_form with the saved search preferences. This search form is different than the one if step1, because it's a remote form being submitted to the same action (search set) 3 - Now the user does another search, and the search form is submitted via ajax to the search_set action. The search is saved and executed and now I need to present the result via rjs templates (corresponding to search_show). I am told that if the request is xhr then I can't redirect to the search_show action? Is that right? If yes, how do I handle this? Here is my controller class http://pastie.org/993460 Thanks
