  • Is there a way to set the value of $? in a mock in Ruby?

    - by rleber
I am testing some scripts that interface with system commands. Their logic depends on the return code of the system commands, i.e. the value of $?. So, as a simplified example, the script might say: def foo(command) output=`#{command}` if $?==0 'succeeded' else 'failed' end end In order to be able to test these methods properly, I would like to be able to stub out the Kernel backquote call, and set $? to an arbitrary value, to see if I get appropriate behavior from the logic in the method after the backquote call. I can't figure out a way to do this. (In case it matters, I'm testing using Test::Unit and Mocha.)

  • Protect value from changies using reflection?

    - by IordanTanev
Hi, here is the problem case i am writing a little third party library. In this library i have a class like this public class TestClass { public int TestField { get; private set; } public TestClass( ) { TestField = 1; } } Then i have a varialbe form this class like this public TestClass test = new TestClass( ); The problem i am facing is that usnig reflection like this PropertyInfo field = typeof( TestClass ).GetProperty( "TestField" ); field.SetValue( test, 2, null ); programers can change internal value of this class. this will be very bad thing becouse it can crash the hole library. My question is what is the best way to protect my code form such changes.I know i can use some kind of bool flag so tha value can be changed only ones but this is not very good salution is there a better one? Best Regards, Iordan

  • How to instantiate a Singleton multiple times?

    - by Sebi
I need a singleton in my code. I implemented it in Java and it works well. The reason I did it, is to ensure that in a mulitple environment, there is only one instance of this class. But now I want to test my Singleton object locally with a Unit test. For this reason I need to simulate another instance of this Singleton (the object that would be from another device). So is there a possiblity to instantiate a Singleton a second time for testing purpose or do I have to mock it? I'm not sure, but I think it could be possible by using a different class loader?

  • C# Unit Testing: How do I set a Lazy<T>.ValueCreated to false?

    - by michael paul
Basically, I have a unit test that gets a singleton instance of a class. Some of my tests required me to mock this singleton, so when I do Foo.Instance I get a different type of instance. The problem is that my checks are passing individually, but failing overall because one test is interfering with another. I tried to do a TestCleanup where I set: Foo_Accessor._instance = null; but that didn't work. What I really need is Foo_Accessor._instance.IsValueCreated = false; (_instance is a Lazy). Any way to unset the Lazy object that I didn't think of?

  • simple c++ file opening issue

    - by Robert
    #include <iostream> #include <fstream> using namespace std; int main () { ofstream testfile; testfile.open ("test.txt"); testfile << "success!\n"; testfile.close(); return 0; } 1)called "g++ testfile.cpp" 2)created "test.txt" 3)called "chmod u+x a.out" 4)??? 5)file remains blank. I feel like an idiot for failing at something as trivial as this is supposed to be.

  • Regex whitespace and special characters

    - by Sam R.
I have this regular expression: [^\\s\"']+|\"([^\"]*)\"|'([^']*)' which works for splitting a string by white spaces, and anything within a quotation is not delimited. However, I notice that if I put in a string that starts with "" no matches are found. How would I correct this? For example, if I enter " test 2". I want it to match to [, test, 2] Note: using java to compile the regex, here is some code Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("[^\\s\"']+|\"([^\"]*)\"|'([^']*)'"); Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(SomeString); while (matcher.find()){ String temp = matcher.group(); //... Do something ... } Thanks.

  • GWT : NULL Session

    - by jidma
I'm using spring4gwt in my project. I have the following login service implementation: @Service("loginService") public class LoginServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements LoginService { @Override @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED, rollbackFor = Exception.class) public UserBean checkUser(String userName, String password) throws Exception { HttpSession httpSession = getThreadLocalRequest().getSession(); } } When i call the loginService.checkUser("test","test") (In hosted mode), I get a null pointer exception, as getThreadLocalRequest() returns NULL instead of the actual session. I didn't try in web mode yet. Why would I get a null session ? Does it have something to do with spring4gwt ? Thank you

  • How can I display more info in an error message when using NUnit Assert in a loop?

    - by Ian
Consider the following code: [Test] public void WidgetTest() { foreach (Widget widget in widgets) { Assert.AreEqual(0, widget.SomeValue); } } If one of the asserts fails, I will get a very unhelpful error message like the one below: 1) Test Failure : WidgetTest.TestSomeValue Expected: 0 But was: 1 at WidgetTest.TestSomeValue() So, the question is, how can I get NUnit to display more useful info, such as the name of the widget, or the iteration of the loop, etc? Even a line number would be more helpful, since this is run in automated manner and I'd like to be able to spot the failing assert without debugging into the code.

  • Send a variable to a variable of a function?

    - by J. M
Let's say I have a function and one of the parameters is for the name of the target variable.. Would it be possible for me to send a variable to the function like this: function otherfunction(input){ ... } function test {target) { var x = 1; target(x); } test(otherfunction); The problem I have is that I'm making a greasemonkey script and one of the variable I need can't be returned from the function due to a limitation.. So this would be the alternative. I just don't know how to get it to work.. Any help would be much appreciated!!

  • Mapping restful ajax requests to spring

    - by Diones
I have this piece of code: @RequestMapping(value = "/test.json", method = RequestMethod.GET) @ResponseStatus(HttpStatus.OK) public @ResponseBody Object[] generateFile(@RequestParam String tipo) { Object[] variaveis = Variavel.getListVariavelByTipo(tipo); return variaveis; } As far as I know it should take a request to test.json?tipo=H and return the JSON representation of Variavel[], however when I make such request I get: HTTP Status 406 - type Status report message descriptionThe resource identified by this request is only capable of generating responses with characteristics not acceptable according to the request "accept" headers () By using the following function I can get the expected json: @RequestMapping(value = "/teste.json") public void testeJson(Model model, @RequestParam String tipo) { model.addAttribute("data", Variavel.getListVariavelByTipo("H")); } What I'm doing wrong?

  • How do I post a link to the feed of a page via the Graph API *as* the page?

    - by jsdalton
I'm working on a plugin for a Wordpress blog that posts a link to every article published to a Facebook Page associated with the blog. I'm using the Graph API and I have authenticated myself, for the time being, via OAuth. I can successfully post a message to the page using curl via a POST request to https://graph.facebook.com/{mypageid}/feed` with e.g. message = "This is a test" and it published the message. The problem is that the message is "from" my user account. I'm an admin on this test page, and when I go to Facebook and post an update from the web, the link comes "from" my page. Is there a way to authenticate myself as a page? Or is there an alternate way to POST to a page feed that doesn't end up being interpreted as a comment from a user? Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

  • MySQL Query to receive random combinations from two tables.

    - by Michael
Alright, here is my issue, I have two tables, one named firstnames and the other named lastnames. What I am trying to do here is to find 100 of the possible combinations from these names for test data. The firstnames table has 5494 entries in a single column, and the lastnames table has 88799 entries in a single column. The only query that I have been able to come up with that has some results is: select * from (select * from firstnames order by rand()) f LEFT JOIN (select * from lastnames order by rand()) l on 1=1 limit 10; The problem with this code is that it selects 1 firstname and gives every lastname that could go with it. While this is plausible, I will have to set the limit to 500000000 in order to get all the combinations possible without having only 20 first names(and I'd rather not kill my server). However, I only need 100 random generations of entries for test data, and I will not be able to get that with this code. Can anyone please give me any advice?

  • Incompatible format types

    - by nebffa
I'm playing around with strncpy in C and am having some trouble. The code is as follows: #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { char src[] = "Benjamin Franklin"; char dest[5]; strncpy(src, dest, sizeof(dest) / sizeof(char)); dest[5] = '\0'; printf("%s\n", dest); return 0; } which compiles with no errors using: gcc -Wall -g -Werror test.c -o test and prints out gibberish like p4?? I cannot really understand what I'm doing wrong especially since I have played around with it a lot and been looking online for answers. Perhaps since I am using arrays I am passing the address to printf without realising it?

  • Mock Objects properties not changing

    - by frictionlesspulley
I am new to using Mock test in .Net. I am testing out a financial transaction which is of the following nature: int amt =20; //sets all the props and func and returns a FinaceAccount. //Note I did not SetUp the amt of the account. var account =GetFinanceAccount() //service layer to be tested _financeService.tranx(account,amt); //checks if the amt was added to the account.amt //here the amt comes out same as that set in GetFinanceAccount. Assert.AreEqual(account.amt ,amt) I know that the function tranx works correctly but there is an issue with the test. Are there any GOOD reference material on Mocking in .Net

  • Parse boolean values in strings for use with Function.apply

    - by as3cmdline
I'm using String.split to parse a command line string into an array of strings. The result is then used to call a function using the Function.apply API. If apply(null, ["17"]) is called with this function: static function test(foo:int):void { trace(foo, typeof(foo)); } it works as expected (output: 17 number). However, calling apply(null, ["false"]) or apply(null, ["0"]) with this function: static function test(foo:Boolean):void { trace(foo, typeof(foo)); } does not work (expected output: false Boolean; actual output: true Boolean). Is there a way to make it recognize "true" and "false" (or anything else) as Boolean values, just like it does with numerical strings? Ideally "true" and "false" should also remain valid string values.

  • Splitting html string after so many words

    - by jimbo
Hi all, I have a string that if it is longer than lets say 10 words, I want to split it into two parts. The second part will be included else-where after a 'more' link. The string will hold html tags too though. For an example the string could be: <p>This is just a test string with more words than the <strong>amount allow</strong> before split, blah blah blah</p> So in the case I would want: $string[0] // <p>This is just a test string with more words than</p>; $string[1] // <p>the <strong>amount allow</strong> before split, blah blah blah</p>; Thanks in advance

  • C++ performance when accessing class members

    - by Dr. Acula
I'm writing something performance-critical and wanted to know if it could make a difference if I use: int test( int a, int b, int c ) { // Do millions of calculations with a, b, c } or class myStorage { public: int a, b, c; }; int test( myStorage values ) { // Do millions of calculations with values.a, values.b, values.c } Does this basically result in similar code? Is there an extra overhead of accessing the class members? I'm sure that this is clear to an expert in C++ so I won't try and write an unrealistic benchmark for it right now

  • Making a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ

    - by DarthVader
I want to make a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ which will have only send and get functions. I want to wrap them in a static class. Users can use this client and send, get messages to the activemq instance. I want this process to be transparent. There are two classes in this link My only handicap is, i need to this in c++ and not sure where to start. I havent used c++ for ages and now not sure how I can create this wrapper class. I m giving it a try as follows: // .h file #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class ActiveMQWrapper { public: static void send(std::string message); static std::string get(); }; // .cpp file #include<string> #include<iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" void ActiveMQWrapper::send(std::string message){ std::cout<<message; } std::string ActiveMQWrapper::get(){ return "test"; } // test file #include <string> #include <iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" int main() { std::string foo ="test"; ActiveMQWrapper::send(foo); std::cout<<ActiveMQWrapper::get(); return 1; } When I added the following to .h file, hell breaks loose. Do you think I should seperate this impl to a factory and initialize and instance and return to the wrapper above? How do i deal with all the dependencies? private: Connection* connection; Session* session; Destination* destination; MessageProducer* producer; int numMessages; bool useTopic; bool sessionTransacted; std::string brokerURI; and the header files, i get several messages as errors, which complains about the path. How can i get this correct? I eventually want to build a Factory, get an instance and send or get the messages to the queue. is there a code sample i can look into to get this right? essential i want to use the functionality of only this producer and consumer. Edit: I understand there is no such thing as static class in C++ . This is my reference.

  • Why activity result code is diffrent then I expected

    - by Fisher
I have 2 activities. In child activity i have put something like that in onPause(): if (isFinishing()) { final Intent intent = new Intent(); intent.putExtra(SOME_DATA, value); setResult(RESULT_OK, intent); Log.i("test", "Result set to RESULT_OK"); } In parent activity i check resultCode when child activity is destroyed, and this is what i have noticed: If i destroy child activity by some action (in some condition i invoke finish()), then resultCode is RESULT_OK But when i destroy by pressing return key (i works only in emulator so its ESC) who kills activity, then resultCode read in parent onActivityResult method equals 0 (RESULT_CANCELD). "test" log read in each case is the same.

  • How to get path to current exe file on Linux?

    - by user1519221
The code below gives current path to exe file on Linux: #include <iostream> std::string getExePath() { char result[ PATH_MAX ]; ssize_t count = readlink( "/proc/self/exe", result, PATH_MAX ); return std::string( result, (count > 0) ? count : 0 ); } int main() { std::cout << getExePath() << std::endl; return 0; } The problem is that when I run it gives me current path to exe and name of the exe, e.g.: /home/.../Test/main.exe I would like to get only /home/.../Test/ I know that I can parse it, but is there any nicer way to do that?

  • Get part of a string of part of regular expression?

    - by Buttink
Im trying to make a script that will go into a directory and run my own application with each file matching a regular expression, specifically "Test[0-9]*.txt". My input filenames look like this "TestXX.txt". Now, I could just use cut and chop off the Test and .txt, but how would I do this if XX wasn't predefined to be 2 numbers? What would I do if i had "Test1.txt" ... "Test10.txt"? In other words, How would I get the [0-9]* part? Just so you know, I want to be able to make a OutputXX.txt :)

  • Blackberry browser problem

    - by nhd
Hi all, I have one site to test, when I run it with my BrowserFieldDemo (in JDE sample)m just display text site, but with the same link, run on Blackberry native browser, it displays properly, and have Zoom in function to zoom. I think the problem here is the size of my site, it's too large. I've tried some different sites and see that the result is same on two browsers, but with this test site, it's unexpected result. Anyone can suggest some solutions for me to fix it? Or explain for me how Blackberry browser can know to resize web page automatically (when it loads the large web page). Thank for any help,
