  • ViewController doesn't get released

    Every time I turn the page in my app, I am removing and releasing the previous viewController - but for some reason it is still in memory. I know this, because after using the app for a while, I get 47 memory warnings - one from each view controller - if I had opened 47 pages before the memory warning occurred. I get 60 memory warnings if I had opened 60 pages before the memory warning occurred. And so on... This is the code that runs from page to page: UIViewController *nextController; Class nextClass = [pageClasses objectAtIndex:(currentPageIndex - 1)]; nextController = [[nextClass alloc] initWithNibName:[pageNibs objectAtIndex:(currentPageIndex - 1)] bundle:nil]; [nextController performSelector:@selector(setDelegate:) withObject:self]; [currentPageController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.view addSubview:nextController.view]; [currentPageController release]; currentPageController = nextController; [currentPageController retain]; [nextController release]; Can anybody point to any issues they see?   • Completed Event not triggering for web service on some systems

    Hi, This is rather weird issue that I am facing with by WCF/Silverlight application. I am using a WCF to get data from a database for my Silverlight application and the completed event is not triggering for method in WCF on some systems. I have checked the called method executes properly has returns the values. I have checked via Fiddler and it clearly shows that response has the returned values as well. However the completed event is not getting triggered. Moreover in few of the systems, everything is fine and I am able to process the returned value in the completed method. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried searching around the web but without any luck :( Following is the code.. "</td><td>Invited</td></tr>"; echo json_encode( array( $html, $currentStatus ) ); Then my jquery is appending this to the table: ... success: function( result ) { var resultArray = eval( result ); $( "#myTable tr:last").append( resultArray[0] ); ... } Problem is, when it prints, it prints the following extra marks: [email protected]<\/td> View Only<\/td> Invited<\/td><\/tr>","1"] If I only echo the HTML it appends to table just fine, but I cant do that because I need the $currentStatus back too to do something with it.     I am using Modal Popup in my MVC3 application it works fine but opens twice for a single Click on the link. The Modal pop is triggered from the 'Index' view of my Home Controller. I am calling a view 'PopUp.cshtml' in my modal popup. The related ActionMethod 'PopUp' for the respective view is in my 'Home' controller.   • long startup time...Need help

    My app is all done and working great. So now I ran it on a old iPhone and the app takes 17.3 seconds to start!?!? i spent a lot of time looking into it and i found that the reason it is taking so long to load is i have a lot of views and each view has a png background image. All my views and made in IB and in my code: #import "MyTestAppDelegate.h" #import "MyTestViewController.h" @implementation MyTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end At the end of the code where is says: [window addSubview:viewController.view]; the app seems to be loading all the views in the nib at the same time. All the png's from all the views are about 12mb. There is no need for the app to load all the views at the same time during startup. Is there a way i can only load the first "home" view at startup? (All the views are part of the same nib.)

    I have 4 ViewControllers, startViewController as the initial View Controller. This contains my intro. After its finish, it will [self presentViewController:vc animated:YES completion:NULL]; into my menuViewController. startViewController ------> menuViewController ------> C1ViewController \ \ ------> ImportantViewController In my menuViewController are buttons for the two ViewController like the above illustration. Also I presented them in the View with this: [self presentViewController:vc animated:YES completion:NULL]; I return tomenuViewController with this [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; What I wanted is to make the ImportantViewController to be the like the parent view or the mainVIew even if I go to other Views. What I need is when ImportantViewController is presented when I go to either C1ViewController or menuViewController it wont be deallocated, or its content there will still be retained. Is it possible? And How? I don't know much about what parent and child view controllers for so I dont know what to implement in my problem. Thank you. BTW, Im using Storyboard.

    I am constructing a lighbox gallery, currently experimenting with FancyBox (http://fancybox.net) and ColorBox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox). By default you have to include a link to the large version of the image so that the Lightbox can display it. However, I am wanting to have the image link URLs pointing to a script rather than directly to the image file. So for example, instead of: <a href="mysite/images/myimage.jpg"> I want to do: <a href="mysite/photos/view/abc123"> The above URL points to a function: public function actionPhotos($view) { $photo=Photo::model()->find('name=:name', array(':name'=>$view)); if(!empty($photo)) { $user=$photo->user; $this->renderPartial('_photo', array('user'=>$user, 'photo'=>$photo, true)); } } At some point in the future the function will also update the view count of the image. Now this approach is working to an extent - most images load up but some do not load up (the lightbox gets displayed in a malformed state). I think the reason for this is because it is not processing the function quick enough. For example when I click the "next" button it needs to go to the URL, process the function and retreive/output the response. Does anybody know how I can get this working properly?

    I am trying to change views on rotation because my views have to be significantly different from portrait to landscape. Now the code I am using works once then the app freezes when trying to rotate back. Either direction does not make a difference. For example: If I am in Landscape and rotate to portrait everything works great until I rotate back to landscape then it freezes and does absolutely nothing.   • Get notified when UITableView has finished asking for data?

    Hi everyone, Is there some way to find out when a UITableView has finished asking for data from its data source? None of the viewDidLoad/viewWillAppear/viewDidAppear methods of the associated view controller (UITableViewController) are of use here, as they all fire too early. None of them (entirely understandably) guarantee that queries to the data source have finished for the time being (eg, until the view is scrolled). One workaround I have found is to call reloadData in viewDidAppear, since, when reloadData returns, the table view is guaranteed to have finished querying the data source as much as it needs to for the time being. However, this seems rather nasty, as I assume it is causing the data source to be asked for the same information twice (once automatically, and once because of the reloadData call) when it is first loaded. The reason I want to do this at all is that I want to preserve the scroll position of the UITableView - but right down to the pixel level, not just to the nearest row. When restoring the scroll position (using scrollRectToVisible:animated:), I need the table view to already have sufficient data in it, or else the scrollRectToVisible:animated: method call does nothing (which is what happens if you place the call on its own in any of viewDidLoad, viewWillAppear or viewDidAppear).
