  • How to upload a file with watir and IE?

    I am writing a watir script to test an upload form. But the script does not automatically choose the file that is to be uploaded from my harddrive. Instead IE stops with the file chooser dialog open. As soon as I manually select the to be uploaded file in the dialog and click ok, watir continues as desired. I wonder why it stops. This is from my watir script: ie.file_field(:name, 'upload').set("s:\\localwatir\\Test_Pdf.pdf") ie.button(:name, 'submit').click I got the code from this page: http://wiki.openqa.org/display/WTR/File+Uploads This is the form: <form name="form1" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" action="uploadlegacy.php"> <input type="file" name="upload" size="30"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="upload"> </form> I have found this manual http://svn.openqa.org/svn/watir/trunk/watir/unittests/filefield_test.rb also, but as I do not know what $htmlRoot stands for, I cannot really follow it. Does that mean, I have to put some "file///" into the parameter for set()? If so, how exactly? I am using IE 6 for the testing.

    hi, i am a php beginner and have a question for you please. i have a text file with list of first and last names like this: john,smith sam,lewis david,davidson mike,anderson in my sort.php file, it sorts that name list by first name in ascending order with index number, which will display like this: 1. david,davidson 2. john,smith 3. mike,anderson 4. sam,lewis also, in that sort.php file, there's a form for input type=text where you can type index number and a button to delete that index number entered in that text field: <form action="deletename.php" method="post"> <table> <tr valign="top"> <td>Delete: <input type="text" size="2" name="indexnumber" /> </td> <td> <div align="left"> <input type="submit" name="delete" value="Delete" /> </div> </td> </tr> </table> </form> now the question...is there anything i can do in that form to send the value of that index number i entered in the text field? in other word...if i enter 3, what can i do to that form to send the value "mike,anderson" to deletename.php? thanks in advance.

    Hello guys, i have a web form who send post variables like: <form action="teacher.php" method="post"> <input name="pass" type="password"> <input name="quiere" type="image" value="submit" src="IMG/unlock-32.png" /> </from> In the same page i check for a submit acction with php doing a simple isset check like: "if (isset($_POST['quiere'])) {" But if you do this in IE the post var "QUIERE" (the button var) does not post, the others vars are fine, and if you try this simple form in any other browser it works. I only get this form function well in IE changing the button for a normal button, instead of a image button like: <input name="quiere" type="submit" value="submit" /> In this way, the var "quiere" get post. So, what do you think? and sorry for my english.

  • Missing WM_PAINT when hosting a WPF control inside a winforms application.

    Hi All, Consider the following scenario: 1) Create a winforms application with an empty form. 2) Create a WPF usercontrol in the same project which is just the default control with background changed to blue. <UserControl x:Class="WindowsFormsApplication2.UserControl1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Height="300" Width="300" Background="Blue"> <Grid> </Grid> </UserControl> 3) Build the project 4) Add the control to your form (an ElementHost is added and the control is added inside it). 5) Run the application (everything looks nice) 6) Start Spy++, click find window (Control+F) and move the cursor onto the WPF control (the blue square) Something strange happens, the control gets a WM_ERASEBKGND message but no WM_PAINT message so now it is white. You can resize the form, hide the form behind other windows and the WPF control will not get rendered. Please tell me what is the best way to resolve this issue such that the WPF control renders itself correctly. Any advice on how to submit this form?

  • add new option to dropdownlist after jquery dialog and post

    I have a form to enter subcontracts. On this form I have a dropdownlist of all companies in the system. Next to it is a button "Create Company". This button opens a jquery dialog which allows the user to create a new company. Once the dialog closes, the new company needs to be added to the dropdownlist and selected. If I refresh, it's there, but I need to do it without refreshing the form b/c I don't want the user to loose everything that they've entered into the other fields. I'm not sure how to do this b/c I don't have the guid of the new company.   • Need advice on using Grails and Ajax to append to a div like in Rails

    I'm just starting out in Grails and need some advice on using Ajax. I want to append some html to the bottom of a div inside a form. This is basically what I have: -form- -div id="listOfchildren"- childrow 1 input fields childrow 2 input fields childrow 3 input fields -/div- -form- -a-Add Child 4-/a- When I click on the "Add Child" I want to make an ajax call that results in a new childrow getting inserted into the "listOfchildren" div. So the document would look like this: -form- -div id="listOfchildren"- childrow 1 input fields childrow 2 input fields childrow 3 input fields childrow 4 input fields -/div- -form- -a-Add Child 5-/a- In Rails I would do something simple like this: render :update do |page| page.insert_html :bottom, "list_of_children", :partial = child_partial page.replace "add_link", :partial = 'add_link' end The previous code sends an javascript back to the browser with two commands. The first command tells the browser to append some html to the bottom of a div. The second command updates the "add link" counter. In grails I can only see how to replace an entire div (which would wipe out the user's existing input) and I don't see how I can call multiple functions from the ajax response. I can probably do this if I was to write some javascript functions in prototype or whatever, but I'd like to avoid that if there is a simpler way. Thanks! Nate

I have been told time and time again to check if form input is a number if you are expecting a number or escape it in case (unless you use proper mysqli formatting) to avoid injection. 1.After the safety checks are done, should I do additional logic checks? For example, if the user is sending a friend request to them-self for example even if my user interface will not show the form if the user is looking at their own page.

  • What event do I need to supress to stop IE from "Dinging" when I press enter in a text box?

    On simple forms with one text box pressing enter submits the form (and this is great for easy search forms) However on a form with multiple fields, pressing Enter in an input="text" box won't do anything (e.g. submit) but in IE it "Dings" as if you have tried to delete an undeletable object. The question is... what event do I need to suppress in IE to stop this sound? e.g. if I have a username/password form, I DO want the enter key to submit the form, but I certainly don't want the "error" sound.     A long time ago, I wrote a little python script to automatically log me on to the wireless network at my office. Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

    When I click a command button, and then hit the browser back button to the form and click it again, it submits a second time without throwing the proper exception... Even stranger, the form id itself is DIFFERENT when I come back, which implies it has regenerated a "valid" form id at some point. (It's used in a couple places.) Each action returns a view, not null. I have confirmed this by stepping through line-by-line. The reRenderList is empty in my current test-case. onActivationComplete is also empty. I'm going to be going template-by-template to see if someone made it with nested forms, because my coworkers have had unrelated problems due to that, so it couldn't hurt to eliminate that as a possible problem.

    Hi all, I am trying to polish up a program a program that I have converted from a Windows Form in to an ASP.NET Web Application. I have several questions: 1.) I have a drop down box where users can select their variables, but users can also enter their variables manually into various text fields. What I want is for the drop down box to show a string like "Choose Variables" when ever the user enters their variables manually. I want this to happen without having to reload the page. 2.) In the Windows Form version of this application I had a RichTextBox that populated with data (line by line) after a calculation was made. I used "AppendText" in my Windows Form, but that is not available in ASP.NET, and neither is the RichTextBox. I am open to suggestions here, I tried to use just a text box but that isn't working right. 3.) In my Windows Form application I was using "KeyPress" events to prevent incorrect characters from being entered into the text fields. My code for these events looked similar to this: Private Sub TextBox_KeyPress(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TextBox.KeyPress If (e.KeyChar < "0" OrElse e.KeyChar > "9") AndAlso e.KeyChar <> ControlChars.Back AndAlso e.KeyChar <> "." Then e.Handled = True End If End Sub How can I make this work again... also without reloading the page. 4.) This is not a major issue, but I would like all of the text to be selected when the cursor enters a field. However, no matter what values I enter in the fields; the result is always: array(2) { ["test"]=> string(0) "" ["action"]=> string(2) "Go" } string(16) "test=&action=Go&" Somehow, the array named test is emptied, the "action" variable does make it through. I've used the Live HTTP Headers extension for Firefox to check whether the POST fields get submitted, and they do. The relevant information from Live HTTP Headers (with a, b and c filled in as values in the textboxes): Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Content-Length: 51 test%5B1%5D=a&test%5B2%5D=b&test%5B3%5D=c&action=Go Does anybody have any idea as to why this is happening? I'm freaking out on this one, it has cost me so much time already...

    I have a form, which sets these styles in constructor: this.SetStyle(ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint, true); this.SetStyle(ControlStyles.UserPaint, true); this.SetStyle(ControlStyles.ResizeRedraw, true); this.SetStyle(ControlStyles.OptimizedDoubleBuffer, true); And I draw some rectangles in Paint event. There are no controls on the form. Hovewer, when I resize the form, there are black strips at right and bottom of the form. Is there any way to get rid of them? I've tried everything, listening for WM_ERASEBKGND in WndProc, manually drawing the form on WM_PAINT, implementing custom double buffer, etc. Is there anything else I could try? I've found this: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/522441/custom-resizing-of-system-windows-window-flickers and it looks like it is a bug in DWM, but I just hope I can do some workaround. Please note that I must use double buffering, since I want to draw pretty intense graphic presentation in the Paint event. I develop in C# .NET 2.0, Win7.
