  • WYSIWYG browser editor that generates *good* HTML?

    - by dauerbaustelle
I'm searching for a "suck less" WYSIWYG browser HTML editor that generates good HTML code. (no <font>, <foo style="...">, <p></p><span></span><p><span>&nbsp;</span><span><span>blah</span></<span></p> and so on -- <b> and <i> etc is ok). Should be easy-to-use as it is going to be used by people that do not know what HTML is. Any suggestions? (I found a lot of editors but they all create that <font> and nested <span> crap that breaks site design and bloats a site with one table up to 100kB.)

  • Replacement relevance sorting for MySQL fulltext in InnoDB tables?

    - by Giles Smith
I am using MySQL InnoDB and want to do fulltext style searches on certain columns. What is the best way of sorting the results in order of relevance? I am trying to do something like: SELECT columns, (LENGTH(column_name) - LENGTH(REPLACE(column_name, '%searchterm%', ''))) AS score FROM table WHERE column_name LIKE '%searchterm%' ORDER BY score However this will become quite complicated once I start searching more than 1 column or using more than one keyword. I already have several joins happening so have simplified the query above. Can anyone suggest a better way? I don't want to use any 3rd party software like Sphinx etc

  • jquery animation callback - how to pass parameters to callback

    - by Hans
I´m building a jquery animation from a multidimensional array, and in the callback of each iteration i would like to use an element of the array. However somehow I always end up with last element of the array instead of all different elements. html: <div id="square" style="background-color: #33ff33; width: 100px; height: 100px; position: absolute; left: 100px;"></div> javascript: $(document).ready(function () { // Array with Label, Left pixels and Animation Lenght (ms) LoopArr = new Array( new Array(['Dog', 50, 500]), new Array(['Cat', 150, 5000]), new Array(['Cow', 200, 1500]) ); $('#square').click(function() { for (x in LoopArr) { $("#square").animate({ left: LoopArr[x][0][1] }, LoopArr[x][0][2], function() { alert (LoopArr[x][0][0]); }); } }); }); ` Current result: Cow, Cow, Cow Desired result: Dog, Cat, Cow How can I make sure the relevant array element is returned in the callback?

  • Multiple threads or process with threads

    - by sergiobuj
Hi, this is for an assignment so I'm not looking for code. I have to simulate a game where each player has turns and needs to 'pay attention' to what's going on. So far, i know I'll need two threads for each player, one that will sleep until the player's turn and the other paying attention. My question is: Should I work each player as a 'fork' and the threads on the fork, or just create some threads for the player and associate them somehow? It's the first time I've worked with concurrency, semaphores and threads so I'm not sure about the good practices and programming style. Thanks!

  • How to use Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll to get the site information the page is running on?

    - by Keith Barrows
I have a half dozen sites on my server and I would like to get some info from IIS7 to display in the footer of each page (as long as you are an admin of course). I am going through the ServerObject and found Sites but am not finding anything obvious for "this site". What should I do to get at the information for the exact site in IIS7 that the page is running on? For a quick 'hack' style approach I wrote this on my default.aspx page code behind: ServerManager serverMgr = new ServerManager(); foreach (Site site in serverMgr.Sites) { string s = info.Text + site.Name + @"<br/>"; info.Text = s; foreach (Binding binding in site.Bindings) { string t = info.Text + binding.BindingInformation + " | "; string p = t + binding.Protocol + @"<br/>"; info.Text = p; } } TIA

  • ExtJS: Login with 'Remember me' functionality

    - by Chau
I'm trying to create a simple login window with the very common 'Remember me' functionality. The login validation is done AJAX style, thus the browser won't remember my input. My approach is to use the built-in state functionality, but how to use it confuses me. Ext.state.Manager.setProvider(new Ext.state.CookieProvider({ expires: new Date(new Date().getTime()+(1000*60*60*24*7)), //7 days from now })); ... { xtype: 'textfield', fieldLabel: 'User name', id: 'txt-username', stateful: true, stateId: 'username' }, { xtype: 'textfield', fieldLabel: 'Password', id: 'txt-password', inputType: 'password', stateful: true, stateId: 'password' }, { xtype: 'button', text: 'Validate', stateEvents: 'click' } I know I have to implement the getState method, but on what component (my guess is on the two textfields)? Another thing I fail to realize is, how is my click event on the button connected to the state properties of my textfields?

  • Undefined variable from import when using wxPython in pydev

    - by Bibendum
I just downloaded wxPython, and was running some of the sample programs from here. However, on every line that uses a variable from wx.*, I get a "Undefined variable from import error" For example, the following program generates five errors on lines 1,4,8, and two on line 5: import wx class MyFrame(wx.Frame): """ We simply derive a new class of Frame. """ def __init__(self, parent, title): wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, title=title, size=(200,100)) self.control = wx.TextCtrl(self, style=wx.TE_MULTILINE) self.Show(True) app = wx.App(False) frame = MyFrame(None, 'Small editor') app.MainLoop() The program, however, compiles and runs perfectly. I haven't made any significant modifications to pydev or eclipse, and the wxPython install is fresh.

  • Developing FIrebug like web application for CSS things.

    - by vishwanath
I am developing a web application for web designing. One part of it includes changing CSS styles on the run and saving the same back to server. I see that, first part of my motive is implemented there in firebug, where I can view CSS style rules applied to a particular HTML element and can change them to view the effect. An earlier question at SO lead to me firebug lite source code https://getfirebug.com/firebug-lite-debug.js , which is far less confusing than full version of firebug. My question was that, is there any way I can get documentation of the firebug/firebug lite code which can speed things up for me. After some googling I found out that there is Firebug API http://getfirebug.com/developer/api/firebug1.6/ But don't know how much useful it is for me. Any alternative way to do this is also welcome.

    - by mosg
    Hello. Python 2.6.2 django-pagination 1.0.5 Question: How to force pagination work correctly? The problem is that {% paginate %} does not work, but other {% load pagination_tags %} and {% autopaginate object_list 10 %} works! Error message appeared, when I add {% paginate %} into html page: TemplateSyntaxError at /logging Caught an exception while rendering: pagination/pagination.html What I have done: Install django-pagination without any problems. When I do in python import pagination, it's work well. Added pagination to INSTALLED_APP in settings.py: INSTALLED_APPS = ( # ..., 'pagination', ) Added in settings.py: TEMPLATE_CONTEXT_PROCESSORS = ( "django.core.context_processors.auth", "django.core.context_processors.debug", "django.core.context_processors.i18n", "django.core.context_processors.media", "django.core.context_processors.request" ) Also add to settings.py middleware: MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = ( # ... 'pagination.middleware.PaginationMiddleware', ) Add to top in views.py: from django.template import RequestContext And finally add to my HTML template page lines: {% load pagination_tags %} ... {% autopaginate item_list 50 %} {% for item in item_list %} ... {% endfor %} {% paginate %} Thanks. • Best non-development book for software developers

    - by Dima Malenko
What is the best non software development related book that you think each software developer should read? Note, there is a similar, poll-style question here: What non-programming books should programmers read? Update: Peopleware is a great book, must read, no doubt. But it is about software development so does not count. Update: We ended up suggesting more than one book and that's great! Below is summary (with links to Amazon) of the books you should consider for your reading list. The Design of Everyday Things by Donald Norman Getting Things Done by David Allen Godel, Escher, Bach by Douglas R. Hofstadter The Goal and It's Not Luck by Eliyahu M. Goldratt Here Comes Everybody by Clay Shirky ...to be continued.

  • Setting treeview background color in VB6 has a flaw - help?

    - by RenMan
I have successfully implemented this method of using the Win32 API to set the background color of a treeview in VB 6: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178491 However, one thing goes wrong: when you expand the tree nodes more than two levels deep, the area to the left of (and sometimes under) the inner plus [+] and minus [-] signs is still white. Does anyone know how to get this area to the correct background color, too? Note: I'm also setting the BackColor of each node, and also the BackColor of the treeview's imagelist. Here's my version of the code: Public Sub TreeView_SetBackgroundColor(TreeView As MSComctlLib.TreeView, BackgroundColor As Long) Dim lStyle As Long, Node As MSComctlLib.Node For Each Node In TreeView.Nodes Node.BackColor = BackgroundColor Next TreeView.ImageList.BackColor = BackgroundColor Call SendMessage( _ TreeView.hwnd, _ TVM_SETBKCOLOR, _ 0, _ ByVal BackgroundColor) 'Now reset the style so that the tree lines appear properly. lStyle = GetWindowLong(TreeView.hwnd, GWL_STYLE) Call SetWindowLong(TreeView.hwnd, GWL_STYLE, lStyle - TVS_HASLINES) Call SetWindowLong(TreeView.hwnd, GWL_STYLE, lStyle) End Sub

UIBarButtonItem *settingsBtn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_prefs.png"] style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(openSettings:)]; [[self navigationItem] setLeftBarButtonItem:settingsBtn]; [settingsBtn release]; Thanks in advance. • jQuery ajax doesn't seem to be reading HTML data in Chromium

    - by Mahesh
    I have an HTML (App) file that reads another HTML (data) file via jQuery.ajax(). It then finds specific tags in the data HTML file and uses text within the tags to display sort-of tool tips. Here's the App HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en-US" xml:lang="en-US"> <head> <title>Test</title> <style type="text/css"> <!--/* <![CDATA[ */ body { font-family : sans-serif; font-size : medium; margin-bottom : 5em; } a, a:hover, a:visited { text-decoration : none; color : #2222aa; } a:hover { background-color : #eeeeee; } #stat_preview { position : absolute; background : #ccc; border : thin solid #aaa; padding : 3px; font-family : monospace; height : 2.5em; } /* ]]> */--> </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ $(document).ready(function() { $("#stat_preview").hide(); $(".cfg_lnk").mouseover(function () { lnk = $(this); $.ajax({ url: lnk.attr("href"), success: function (data) { console.log (data); $("#stat_preview").html("A heading<br>") .append($(".tool_tip_text", $(data)).slice(0,3).text()) .css('left', (lnk.offset().left + lnk.width() + 30)) .css('top', (lnk.offset().top + (lnk.height()/2))) .show(); } }); }).mouseout (function () { $("#stat_preview").hide(); }); }); //]]> </script> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> </head> <body> <h1>Test</h1> <ul> <li><a class="cfg_lnk" href="data.html">Sample data</a></li> </ul> <div id="stat_preview"></div> </body> </html> And here is the data HTML <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en-US" xml:lang="en-US"> <head> <title>Test</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> </head> <body> <h1>Test</h1> <table> <tr> <td class="tool_tip_text"> Some random value 1</td> <td class="tool_tip_text"> Some random value 2</td> <td class="tool_tip_text"> Some random value 3</td> <td class="tool_tip_text"> Some random value 4</td> <td class="tool_tip_text"> Some random value 5</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="tool_top_text"> Some random value 11</td> <td class="tool_top_text"> Some random value 21</td> <td class="tool_top_text"> Some random value 31</td> <td class="tool_top_text"> Some random value 41</td> <td class="tool_top_text"> Some random value 51</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> This is working as intended in Firefox, but not in Chrome (Chromium 5.0.356.0). The console.log (data) displays empty string in Chromium's JavaScript console. Firebug in Firefox, however, displays the entire data HTML. Am I missing something? Any pointers?

  • How to manage memory using classes in Objective-C?

    - by Flipper
This is my first time creating an iPhone App and I am having difficulty with the memory management because I have never had to deal with it before. I have a UITableViewController and it all works fine until I try to scroll down in the simulator. It crashes saying that it cannot allocate that much memory. I have narrowed it down to where the crash is occurring: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)aTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Dequeue or create a cell UITableViewCellStyle style = UITableViewCellStyleDefault; UITableViewCell *cell = [aTableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"BaseCell"]; if (!cell) cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:@"BaseCell"] autorelease]; NSString* crayon; // Retrieve the crayon and its color if (aTableView == self.tableView) { crayon = [[[self.sectionArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] getName]; } else { crayon = [FILTEREDKEYS objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; } cell.textLabel.text = crayon; if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; return cell; } Here is the getName method: - (NSString*)getName { return name; } name is defined as: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; Now sectionArray is an NSMutableArray with instances of a class that I created Term in it. Term has a method getName that returns a NSString*. The problem seems to be the part of where crayon is being set and getName is being called. I have tried adding autorelease, release, and other stuff like that but that just causes the entire app to crash before even launching. Also if I do: cell.textLabel.text = @"test"; //crayon; /*if (![crayon hasPrefix:@"White"]) cell.textLabel.textColor = [self.crayonColors objectForKey:crayon]; else cell.textLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];*/ Then I get no error whatsoever and it all scrolls just fine. Thanks in advance for the help! Edit: Here is the full Log of when I try to run the app and the error it gives when it crashes: [Session started at 2010-12-29 04:23:38 -0500.] [Session started at 2010-12-29 04:23:44 -0500.] GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-967) (Tue Jul 14 02:11:58 UTC 2009) Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. • Move asp.net website to subfolder/subdomain

    - by brz dot net
What is the effective way to deploy an asp.net website in subfolder/subdomain? Actually I need to keep web.config in root directory and modify following things for this. Web.config Location tags Web.config authentication forms tag Web.sitemap Style.css Response.redirect/Server.transfer Image path Is there any way to avoid these changes? So my development work is not more different from production. Means I am expecting one place where applied changes are effective on whole site. No need to modify path on each page.

  • Flex HDividedBox Divider backgroundColor

    - by Jeremy Mitchell
Is there an easy way to set the backgroundColor of a HDividedBox's (or VDividedBox's) BoxDivider object(s)? A BoxDivider is the "divider" that has the drag handle on it. By default, the BoxDivider is transparent with the little handle image on it. There is a dividerSkin style that defaults to mx.skin.BoxDividerSkin which is a reference to a symbol in the Assets.swf file. Any ideas? Do I have to make an alternate skin? Is that my only option? Googling this led me to many solutions that were weird and hacky and frankly didn't seem to work. Thanks.

  • UITableView section header and section footer not updating (redraw problem)

    - by Gerd
I have a UITableView grouped style with custom header and footer view. Inside the footer I put a UILabel and a UIButton. Clicking on the button hides or show some rows, updates the UILabel in the footer view and finally resizes footer view. Basically everything is working fine. BUT the text ion the label is not updated on the screen. It is updated in the UILabel text property, but only if I scroll the section footer out of the visible area and scroll it back, it is updated. So it's a typical redraw problem here of the UITableView. I tried every method to force update like needsLayout etc. Nothing helped. I have seen some related questions but with some different behaviour and no solution. Any help/ideas? Thanks, Gerd

  • How to solve/hack fading semi-transparent PNG bug in IE8?

    - by Soul_Master
As you know, IE6 has bug that can't display semi-transparent PNG file without using non-standard style like filter. In IE7, this problem is fixed. But It still has some bug about PNG file. It can't correctly display fading semi-transparent PNG file. You can clearly see it when you use show/hide function in jQuery with semi-transparent PNG file. The background of image is displayed with non-transparent black color. Do you have any idea for solve this question by using jQuery. Update Let's see my testing As you see, IE8 always incorrectly displays PNG-24 image. Moreover, IE8 still correctly display PNG-8 image when I fade(jQuery.fadeOut function) it only. But It incorrectly display PNG-8 image when I fade & resize(jQuery.hide function) at the same time. PS. You can download my testing source code from here. Thanks,

  • copy HTML to UIPasteboard

    - by ManniAT
Hi, I want to transfer HTML from my app to the iPhone mail application. I already have the HTML text - lest say <span style='color:red'Test</span I can place this to UIPasteBoard - but when I paste it to mail I get the html source. When I place the same string in a HTMLView - select it there and copy it it pastes as red text in mail. What do I have to do to place the string in the UIPasteBoard so that it pastes as red text to the mail application? I've been searching for "format types" - and found that UIPasteBoard returns "Aplle Web Archive pasteboard type" when I have the element (copied from UIWebView) in the clipboard. But setting this as type when adding the content to UIPasteBoard pastes nothing in the mail app. Manfred

  • What does using RESTful URLs buy me?

    - by Spike Williams
I've been reading up on REST, and I'm trying to figure out what the advantages to using it are. Specifically, what is the advantage to REST-style URLs that make them worth implementing over a more typical GET request with a query string? Why is this URL: http://www.parts-depot.com/parts/getPart?id=00345 Considered inferior to this? http://www.parts-depot.com/parts/00345 In the above examples (taken from here) the second URL is indeed more elegant looking and concise. But it comes at a cost... the first URL is pretty easy to implement in any web language, out of the box. The second requires additional code and/or server configuration to parse out values, as well as additional documentation and time spent explaining the system to junior programmers and justifying it to peers. So, my question is, aside from the pleasure of having URLs that look cool, what advantages do RESTful URLs gain for me that would make using them worth the cost of implementation?
