  In many places in our code we have collections of objects, from which we need to create a comma-separated list. The type of collection varies: it may be a DataTable from which we need a certain column, or a List<Customer>, etc. Now we loop through the collection and use string concatenation, for example: string text = ""; string separator = ""; foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) { text += separator + row["title"]; separator = ", "; } Is there a better pattern for this? Ideally I would like an approach we could reuse by just sending in a function to get the right field/property/column from each object.

• Problem retrieving Hostaddress from Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort

  I'm running into an odd issue retrieving printer port addresses. When I get all the entries in Win32_TCPIPPrinterPort, the HostAddress field (which should have the IP address) is usually blank/null, only the port name has a value. To make it a bit stranger, if a particular port is not in use by any printer, THEN the HostAddress will have the the proper value. Basically I am given an ArrayList, the array list are actually a list of int or double, or maybe other types ( it can be either, but it is either all int or double, no mix).   I am modifying a wordpress theme completely, and have run into one very simple problem. Please look at my page here: wordpress blog When you scroll down, you can see the one blank area under the first post. For some reason, that block isn't floating left. • Allow member to be const while still supporting operator= on the class

  I have several members in my class which are const and can therefore only be initialised via the initialiser list like so: class MyItemT { public: MyItemT(const MyPacketT& aMyPacket, const MyInfoT& aMyInfo) : mMyPacket(aMyPacket), mMyInfo(aMyInfo) { } private: const MyPacketT mMyPacket; const MyInfoT mMyInfo; }; My class can be used in some of our internally defined container classes (e.g. vectors), and these containers require that operator= is defined in the class. Of course, my operator= needs to do something like this: MyItemT& MyItemT::operator=(const MyItemT& other) { mMyPacket = other.mPacket; mMyInfo = other.mMyInfo; return *this; } which of course doesn't work because mMyPacket and mMyInfo are const members. Other than making these members non-const (which I don't want to do), any ideas about how I could fix this?

  I am having difficulties how to construct my question, but if I have to put it simply the situation is that I have categories of products. I have an aspx with a repeater on the left that lists the categories. And I want the products to be listed on the right. Category number is variable so I made an ascx with a DataList in it. When I try to do foreach category, ascx = new ascx(); then the DataList within this ascx control is null. ps: what I want to do is to preload all the products (thre is not much) and hide the divs and fadein fadeout them using jQuery when a category div is clicked. rightnow it is using jQuery.load(); and I don't like how the images load, cuz they download from top to bottom.   We are using Antlr StringTemplates to give control over how a Entity's Name is output. The basic Stringtemplate is $FirstName$ $Initial$ $LastName$, $Suffix$, $Degree$ I want to add some smarts to that template so that the commas are only output when necessary i.e. The first comma is only output when there is a Suffix or Degree and the second commas is only output if there is a suffix. I tried the following template string bit it does not work.   This is a really basic issue, but I'm new to perl and cannot work out what the issue is. I'm just trying to isolate the files in a directory, but the -d operator keeps treating all the folder contents as files ... @contents is my array, and when I run this: foreach $item(@contents) { if (-d $item) { next; } print"$item is a file\n"; } I keep getting both folders and files. My application can communicate to another application by sending this : http://tst.example.net/remote/validate_user.jhtml?ticket=$ticket_value in return i get a formatted xml document. i want to be able to parse that document. ""; } my question is : i don't have a test.xml file, it is a url that i am reading/parsing, any way how to get the info from the url, not a file. • jQuery SlideDown Flickering in Firefox

  Hi, once more a jQuery, Firefox flickering issue. (no flickering in IE6/7/8, Safari) I uploaded an example page here: http://sithlord.bplaced.net/testing/jquery_flickering/flickering.html There are two div containers. The inner div is the one I'm hiding. The outer one is the wraping container with the style elements. I found the flicker only occur with the selectbox. Without the SelectBox there is no flickering. But thats not all: (I cant post a second hyperlink: its the same link as above; only change "flickering.html" to not_flickering.html) In this case I selected a lower "option" - as you can see, the flicker disappears in this case. The same is happending, when there are less options in total. (less then about 20) The only workaround I found is deleting the selectbox :) Any ideas, why this is happening and how to fix it? • Jquery AJAX and figuring out how NOT to nest callbacks for multiple reloads.

  I have a site with a few containers that need to load content dynamically via AJAX. Most of the links inside of the containers actually load new data in that same container. I.E: $("#navmenu_item1").click(function() { $("#navmenu").load(blah); }); When I click on a link, lets say "logout," and the menu reloads with the updated login status, none of the links now work because I would need to add a new .click into the callback code. Now with repeated clicks and AJAX requests I am not sure how to move forward from here, as I am sure nested callbacks are not optimal. What would be the best way to do this? Do I include the .click event inside the actual AJAX file being pulled from the server, instead of within index.php? Or can I somehow reload the DOM? Thanks for the help!

  Good morning all, I'm working on an MD5 file integrity check tool in C#. How long should it take for a file to be given an MD5 checksum value? For example, if I try to get a 2gb .mpg file, it is taking around 5 mins+ each time. This seems overly long. Am I just being impatient?
