• VS 11 with std::future - Is this a bug?

  I recently installed the Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. But since there are two arguments for "foo", VS 11 doesn't want to compile it. (However, g++ does: http://ideone.com/ANrPj) (The runtime error is no problem: std::future exception on gcc experimental implementation of C++0x) (VS 11 errormessage: http://pastebin.com/F9Xunh2s) I'm a little confused right now, since this error seems extremely obvious to me, even if it is a developer preview.   I'm in the process of re-setting up my Django development environment after reinstalling my OS. We use django-photologue with our project, which I installed using easy_install. However, I'm getting a template error on every template that has a photologue photo: TemplateSyntaxError at /newsroom/news/ Caught an exception while rendering: (13, 'Permission denied') One example of the line where the error is located: <img src="{{ photo.get_list_url }}"> I'm totally stumped--I've used photologue for this project on many different platforms and have never had this problem. Google yields nothing. I'm currently using Jolicloud (based on Ubuntu Jaunty). I'm working with a pre-existing database, so all of the photo sizes and everything have already been set up.

  Hello all, I was wondering what is the better method for Casting objects for C#: MyClassName test = (MyClassName)object; MyClassName test = object as MyClassName; I know already that if you do the first way, you get an exception, and the second way it sets test as null. However, I was wondering why do one over the other? I see the first way a lot, but I like how the second way because then I can check for null... If there isn't a 'better way' of doing it, what are the guidelines for using one way or the other?

  I have seen lots of posts here and elsewhere stating that one can access session variables from app_code. I want to access an already created session. this code errors out because of a null exception. string myFile = HttpContext.Current.Session["UploadedFile"]; this creates a null session variable. System.Web.SessionState.HttpSessionState Session = HttpContext.Current.Session; It looks like I can create a new session variable but not access an already created one. Anyone have any idea what might be giving me problems?

• Win32 select/poll/eof/ANYTHING!?!?!

  Using the standard Win32 file I/O API's (CreateFile/ReadFile/etc), I'm trying to wait for a file to become readable, or for an exception to occur on the file. If Windows had any decent POSIX support, I could just do: select(file_count, files_waiting_for_read, NULL, files_waiting_for_excpt, NULL, NULL); And select will return when there's anything interesting on some of the files. Windows doesn't support select or poll. Fine. I figured I could take the file and do something like: while(eof(file_descriptor)) { Sleep(100); } The above loop would exit when more data is available to be read. But nope, Windows doesn't have an equivalent of eof() either! I could possibly call ReadFile() on the file, and determine if it's at the eof that way. But, then I'd have to handle the reading at that point in time -- I'm hoping to simply be able to figure out that a file is readable, without actually reading it. What are my options?

  Hello, I am using LINQ-To-Entities in C# and run queries against a SQL Compact Server 3.5 SP2. What I try to achieve is a simple group by with an additional where clause which includes a Count(). var baseIdent="expression"; var found=from o in ObservedElements where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent==baseIdent group o by o.ID into grouped where grouped.Count()==1 select new {key=grouped.Key, val=grouped}; foreach(var res in found){ //do something here } This query throws the famous exception "A parameter is not allowed in this location. Ensure that the '@' sign and all other parameters are in a valid location in the SQL statement." When I either omit the where clause OR directly enter the expression "expression" in the query (where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent=="expression") everything just works fine.   I am using VB.NET 2008 Express Edition to access Serial Port which is a USB to Serial port. Since this is removable, the app user can disconnect it at any time in app. I am getting an unhandled exception when I remove the USB Serial Port. • How do you add a row to a databound datagridview using the datagridview in the gui?

  Hi guys, I've bound a datagridview to a collection of objects. It's giving me a null reference exception when I try to add a new row to a collection (empty or otherwise) using the gui. More specifically, when there is a write event it does this. How can I override the behavior of the write event and manually add all of the columns contents to the object collection? I could disable the add new row feature and make an add button, but the built in datagridview row add looks so much more slick.

  The error is: Exception occurred while reading or writing file {0}The Axis2 facets cannot be installed since the Axis2 runtime location has not been set. Go to the Web Services preference page and set the Axis2 runtime location under Axis2 Preferences. In the preferences mentioned, the location is set correctly and in fact, it says "Axis2 runtime loaded successfully" after loadign the correct runtime location. So what's going on? Any solutions other than re-installing eclipse or creating a new workspace? I am using Axis2 1.4.1 and eclipse.

  I'm trying to execute a program (convert from ImageMagick, to be specific) whose parent folder exists on the path. Ergo, when I run convert from the command line, it runs the command. The following, however, fails: String command = "convert" CommandLine commandLine = CommandLine.parse(command); commandLine.addArgument(...) ... int exitValue = executor.execute(commandLine); If I specify the full path of the convert executable (C:\Program files\...) then this code works. If I don't do this, I get an exception thrown with exit value 4. How do I get commons-exec to recognize the system path?
