• How to remove outlines around windows when switching with Alt+Tab?

  When I switch windows on current Unity using Alt+Tab, I get an ugly outline of size of the selected window occasionally showing on random places. Is there a way to change this outline to something better looking or eliminate it altogether? NB These outlines appear on Ubuntu Desktop without any effects enabled. • Alt-Tab in 12.04 requires pressing Enter to select app, can I disable that?

  Alt+Tab quickly opens the switcher for me, but tabbing over to the next app and releasing the keys will just leave it selected, not switch to it. I have to press Enter to actually switch to the app. How do I make it automatically switch when I release like every other switcher out there? Same behavior occurs when using Super+Tab with either the Compiz Ring Switcher or Shift Switcher. This seems different from the 11.10 behavior.

  Hi all im struggling to find an answer to my problem here. I've made a IM application the same as facebooks but it is having problems in IE. The problem started as I kept seeing rn at the beginnning of every post made via IE. That was due to stripslashes function. • Optimizing Python code with many attribute and dictionary lookups

  I have written a program in Python which spends a large amount of time looking up attributes of objects and values from dictionary keys. I would like to know if there's any way I can optimize these lookup times, potentially with a C extension, to reduce the time of execution, or if I need to simply re-implement the program in a compiled language. The program implements some algorithms using a graph. It runs prohibitively slowly on our data sets, so I profiled the code with cProfile using a reduced data set that could actually complete. The vast majority of the time is being burned in one function, and specifically in two statements, generator expressions, within the function: The generator expression at line 202 is neighbors_in_selected_nodes = (neighbor for neighbor in node_neighbors if neighbor in selected_nodes) and the generator expression at line 204 is neighbor_z_scores = (interaction_graph.node[neighbor]['weight'] for neighbor in neighbors_in_selected_nodes) The source code for this function of context provided below. selected_nodes is a set of nodes in the interaction_graph, which is a NetworkX Graph instance. node_neighbors is an iterator from Graph.neighbors_iter(). Graph itself uses dictionaries for storing nodes and edges. Its Graph.node attribute is a dictionary which stores nodes and their attributes (e.g., 'weight') in dictionaries belonging to each node. Each of these lookups should be amortized constant time (i.e., O(1)), however, I am still paying a large penalty for the lookups. Is there some way which I can speed up these lookups (e.g., by writing parts of this as a C extension), or do I need to move the program to a compiled language?   HI, I want to find all input elements in a HTML string that has display not set to none. I have tried with JQuery and it doesn't seem to like looking for in the style attribute. Any ideas? • Does the same lame settings (--alt-preset standard) have differrent names?

  I've always used windows, and therefore EAC to rip my CDs, but since I've started using Ubuntu more often, I decided to try to rip some albums there. I ended up using k3b (since I found it in the Ubuntu Software center. Tried to install RubyRipper first, but when 'sudo apt-get install ' or UDC fails, a Windows user like me is lost) The real question here is about the settings for the lame encoder. I'm used to just writing --alt-preset standard, and everything works like a charm, but the default in k3b look like this: lame -r --bitwidth 16 --little-endian -s 44.1 -h --tt %t --ta %a --tl %m --ty %y --tc %c --tn %n - %f I assume these are some sensible lame settings, and not a malicious perl script (although it looks like it). It seems to me like some of these ought to be there, and that I can not overwrite the whole thing with my good ol' --alt-preset. So, the question is do I need to replace anything, or is -h the same as old --alt-preset? Is it a difference between '--preset standard' and '--alt-preset standard'? And are those the same as -V 2?

The following links simply call a javascript function which writes out the element whose id is <a href="javascript:alert(document.getElementById('prologue'));">prologue</a> and <a href="javascript:alert(document.getElementById('summary'));">summary</a>, respectively. In the first case (prologue), the script writes out [object HTMLParagraphElement], because the first element found with id "prologue" is a paragraph. But in the second case (summary), the script writes out [object HTMLInputElement] because the first element found with id "summary" is an input. In the case of another script, the consequences of this mix up could have been much more dramatic. Now try clicking on the label prologue in the list above. It does not check the checkbox as clicking on any other label. This is because it finds the paragraph whose ID is also "prologue" and tries to check that instead. By the way, if there were another checkbox whose id was "prologue", then clicking on the label would check the one which appears first in the code. </p> <p> An easy fix for this would be to chose other IDs for the checkboxes, but this doesn't apply if these IDs are given dynamically, by a php script for example. Another easy fix for this would be to write labels like this: <pre> &lt;label&gt;&lt;input type="checkbox" /&gt;prologue&lt;/label&gt; </pre> and not need to give an ID to the checkboxes. But this only works if the label and checkbox are next to each other. </p> <p> Well, that's the problem. I guess the ideal solution would be to link a label to a checkboxe using another mechanism (not using ID).   Maybe I should back-up and widen the scope before diving into the title question... I'm currently writing a web app in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 (although I do have MVC 2.0 installed on my PC, so I'm not exactly restricted to 1.0) -- I've started with the standard MVC project which has your basic "Welcome to ASP.NET MVC" and shows both the [Home] tab and [About] tab in the upper-right corner. Pretty standard, right? I've added 4 new Controller classes, let's call them "Astronomer", "Biologist", "Chemist", and "Physicist". Attached to each new controller class is the [Authorize] attribute. For example, for the BiologistController.cs [Authorize(Roles = "Biologist,Admin")] public class BiologistController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } } These [Authorize] tags naturally limit which user can access different controllers depending on Roles, but I want to dynamically build a Menu at the top of my website in the Site.Master Page based on the Roles the user is a part of. So for example, if JoeUser was a member of Roles "Astronomer" and "Physicist", the navigation menu would say: [Home] [Astronomer] [Physicist] [About] And naturally, it would not list links to "Biologist" or "Chemist" controller Index page. Or if "JohnAdmin" was a member of Role "Admin", links to all 4 controllers would show up in the navigation bar. Ok, you prolly get the idea... Starting with the answer from this StackOverflow topic about Dynamic Menu building in ASP.NET, I'm trying to understand how I would fully implement this. (I'm a newbie and need a little more guidance, so please bare with me.) The answer proposes Extending the Controller class (call it "ExtController") and then have each new WhateverController inherit from ExtController. My conclusion is that I would need to use Reflection in this ExtController Constructor to determine which Classes and Methods have [Authorize] attributes attached to them to determine the Roles. Then using a Static Dictionary, store the Roles and Controllers/Methods in key-value pairs. I imagine it something like this: public class ExtController : Controller { protected static Dictionary<Type,List<string>> ControllerRolesDictionary; protected override void OnActionExecuted(ActionExecutedContext filterContext) { // build list of menu items based on user's permissions, and add it to ViewData IEnumerable<MenuItem> menu = BuildMenu(); ViewData["Menu"] = menu; } private IEnumerable<MenuItem> BuildMenu() { // Code to build a menu SomeRoleProvider rp = new SomeRoleProvider(); foreach (var role in rp.GetRolesForUser(HttpContext.User.Identity.Name)) { } } public ExtController() { // Use this.GetType() to determine if this Controller is already in the Dictionary if (!ControllerRolesDictionary.ContainsKey(this.GetType())) { // If not, use Reflection to add List of Roles to Dictionary // associating with Controller } } } Is this doable? • Keyboard shortcut to cycle through programs (rather than just the alt-tab switch)?

  This question applies to both Windows and Mac OS X because I intend to use my mouse (Logitech G700) with both of them. The idea is I want one of my configurations to use two of my buttons to switch applications. However binding them to Alt/Cmd+Tab and Shift+Alt/Cmd+Tab is not good because the former functions as a toggle, and the latter cycles (in an unpredictable order). What I want is to move through my open applications in a circular buffer order. Do either of these OS's provide any keyboard shortcut that accomplishes this? I could live with just Alt/Cmd+Tab set to one button, but it limits me to being able to switch between only two programs.

  Hi, I'm trying to provide the same design-time support that the CssClass provides on some custom properties of a server control. The documentation suggests that decorating the property with the CssClassProperty is all that's required. [CssClassProperty] public string SomeOtherCssClass{get;set;} This has no effect, in vs2008 or vs2010. I've looked at the WebControl class using reflector and implemented all the attributes, and every combination thereof, to my property and still no class dropdown. Some blog posts suggest that the use of the Editor attribute but a) there's not mention of it in the documentation and b) none of editors which are remotely related to css classes have any effect either. • JQuery returns wrong value for IE Compatibility

  Hey , I'm using JQuery and there seems to be a problem when I run IE in compatibility mode (and generally any IE less than version 8). I'm trying to use attr("value") for a button control. In IE8, and other browsers, this works fine and the result of this code: alert($(this).attr("value")); is simply the value of set in the button attribute (e.g. Home, Settings, Help etc..) However, when this is run in IE compatibility view, I get the entire HTML as the output value: <SPAN class=ui-button-text>Home</SPAN> This causes my checks to fail. Is there a way to return just the Home section across all browsers? Thanks
