• Rolling back Server edition from GRUB List (Ubuntu)

  I seems i did some mistake, and installed Ubuntu server on my home based ubuntu box. and the problem is that GRUB places the server edition as a priority boot in the menu, especially when I upgrade the kernel or the release. How can I remove the server from the GRUB menu permanently? can I un-install Ubuntu server edition?

• Change Outlook's default calendar to iCloud (meeting requests end up in wrong calendar)

  Following scenario: I've got a main computer (Windows 7, Office 2010) which is being used to manage contacts, meetings, etc. using Outlook. Now I've added an iPad and an iPhone to sync using iCloud. I moved all appointments and contacts from the old PST file to the iCloud file. All the data syncs nicely. The email account I'm using in Outlook is an IMAP account which opens up another data file which brings us to a total of three data files in Outlook's side bar. The problem: When one of our clients sends us meeting requests via email they show up in the IMAP's inbox. When we open them up they automatically get added to Outlook's default calendar (the one in the original PST). Is there any chance not to add them to that calendar but the iCloud one? Basically we could completely get rid of the original PST since we don't use it at all anymore but the settings do not allow me to remove this PST file and set the iCloud one as default. Thanks!

  In my registry, the entry "Start Page" under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] was changed to some bad url. And I found that i don't have permission to modify the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main], only got a "everyone" user to access it. I cannot modify any entry below it even as an Admin. Could anyone help? Thanks.

• TB3.0.10: Messages being sent back to me

  Hello, I don't know if this will make any sense to you; but here goes. When I send an email and I get a response, more often than not, in the 'to:' is my email address. However, my email address also ends up in the 'from' column.The 'reply-from' address is nowhere to be found;so I don't have any address with which I can send my reply, as both of them have just my email address. What am I doing wrong here? Is there some set-up in my TOOLOPTIONS set-up incorrectly? The set-up in OPTIONS is pretty difficult to understand and it doesn't offer any 'to' or 'reply-from' choices. This is critical because I just cannot answer my emails because there is no one I can send a reply to. Please, please try to help me. All requests from external (www.external.com) should go to internal server 10.10.10.16:2080, except for www.external.com/nagios requests, which should go to internal 10.10.10.18. • What is the most reliable way to copy access front end files to client PCs

  I have several in house databases which have access 2003 front ends, either adp or ade files. I need to copy these from my server to every client machine. In the past I have used a rollout scripts to copy the files to the all users desktop folder. I have since adapted this to also copy files to the public desktop folder since we started having windows 7 client machines as well as XP. The problem is that some of the time these scripts don't work for windows 7. Is there a better way of copying these files to a mix of windows 7 and XP clients or is using rollout scripts the best way?

  How does one indicate that one has finished entering test in stdin? For example, let's say that I wish to encrypt 'blue' using MD5 (I know MD5 is unsecure, but just for this example). I tried user$ blue | md5 which I was led to understand is how one pipes input to stdin, but it doesn't work right. But if I just enter user$ md5 I can enter the word 'blue'. But how do I indicate to md5 that I'm finished entering text?

  I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I am moving to a new server and not using mod_pagespeed any more. However we have lots of external links to images on our site using the strange mod_pagespeed filenames. This is not an issue but we do not want to have lots of 404 errors.   I want to grant users access to the nagios 3 core frontend by using an active directory group ("NagiosWebfrontend" in the code below). I got the hint, that I am missing a contact in nagios configuration which is equal to my login, but creating one with the same name as the domain user had no effect on this issue. However, it would be great to find a solution without manually editing nagios.conf for every new user, so the admins could grant access to nagios by just putting the user to "NagiosWebfrontend" group. What would be the best way to solve it?

  I have pack of .avi files that needs to be trimmed by 5 last seconds. I'm doing it using batch processing and naturally, they all have different length so I can't set a trim from the beginning. I know FFMpeg has commands -t and -ss as well as Mencoder has -endpos and -ss, but in my case I don't know if I can use them this way. • Less daunting front end for SQL Server

  We currently have a few users who have been using Access very succesfully to throw around large amounts of data. We've now got to the point where the data is just too large to be held in Access, as well as wanting to hold it in a single place where multiple users can access it. We have therefore moved the data over to SQL Server. I want to provide a general tool that they can use to view the data on the server and do some simple things like run queries and filters and export the data for offline manipulation. I don't want the support headaches that might come with rolling out SQL Management Studio, and neither do I want to have to create an Access database with links for each current database or ones that are created in the future. Can anyone recommend a simple tool that will connect to a server, list all the databases and allow a user to drill into a table and look at the data. Many thanks.

  I'm using xdm and my ~/.Xsession looks like this: # <initialization stuff here> exec openbox It works, but I've noticed that when I log out Openbox doesn't gracefully kill all the applications. In particular Google Chrome complains about that. How can I make sure to wait for all processes to exit (just like others configurations: Gnome, KDE, Windows ...)? The only (ugly) solution that I've found involves sleep and kill into ~/.Xsession.

  We are trying to decide a good backup strategy for our new Hyper-V setup. We have 3 VMs on Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V host. We installed Symantec BackupExec 2010 on the host and have the Hyper-V Agent installed. We would like to perform a full backup at night to tape, and an incremental twice a day to a daily tape. Our environment needs constant protection for our database (Microsoft Access). Any thoughts? Should I be looking at different software?

I have changed the startup of this services to manual and have created a .bat file to start the services up and then I launch the program. But, its not a efficient solution. I would like to start the services once the application starts and stop once the application closes as well. Does anyone know of any solution?

As far as I understand I need to somehow replace the PHP 5.3 package provided under 10.04 with an older PHP 5.2 package provided under 9.10. However I am not sure whether this is the right way to downgrade PHP and if yes, I don't know how to replace the 10.04 package with 9.10 package. Could you please help me with that?

Still not clear why vbscript can't interpret this assignment, but found a fix: %~1 - Expands %1 and removes any surrounding quotation marks ("").

Being a Linux newbie, I'm doing pretty well - but one small mistake can screw everything up for me.   I want to know how the failover database concept works after recovery. We have defined our application to connect to a backup database in case the production database fails. If this happens, then all the transactions will be happening on that backup database. Once the production db server is running again, then how do we make sure the changes made in the backup database will be reflected on the production database? We want to make sure that any changes made while failed over are not lost. We are using Oracle 10g.
