  • Creating a popup tool bar in a full screen NSOpenGLView (OSX Cocoa)

    I have a Cocoa app in which one of my NSOpenGLViews can go into full screen mode (I do this with the method enterFullScreenMode:withOptions:). I would like to create a little widget that when you mouse over it, a toolbar pops up with some different controls. I am wondering what would be the best way to implement this widget? At first I thought about using a panel but I don't think you can bring up any windows when in full screen mode. Also, it seems that you can't add a subview to an NSOpenGLView? Are these two assumptions correct? What else could I use to accomplish this?

    Background: 3 of 9 Barcode Alphabet A simple syntax for 3 of 9 bar codes What is the formula behind the alphabet and digits in a 3 of 9 bar code? For example, ASCII has a relatively clear arrangement. Numbers start at 33, capitals at 65, lowercase at 97. From these starting points you can infer the ASCII code for any number or letter. The start point for each range is also a multiple of 32 + 1. Bar codes seem random and lacking sequence. If we use the syntax from the second link, this is the first six characters in 3 of 9: A 100-01 B 010-01 C 110-00 D 001-01 E 101-00 F 011-00 I see no pattern here; what is it? I'm as much interested in the designer's intended pattern behind these as I am in someone devising an algorithm of their own that can give you the above code for a given character based on its sequence. I struggled with where to put this question; is it history, computer science, information science? I chose Programmers because a StackExchange search had the most barcode hits here, and because I wanted to specifically relate it to ASCII to explain what sort of formula/explanation I'm looking for.

  • Implementing java FixedTreadPool status listener

    Hi there, it's about an application which is supposed to process (VAD, Loudness, Clipping) a lot of soundfiles (e.g. 100k). At this time, I create as many worker threads (callables) as I can put into memory, and then run all with a threadPool.invokeAll(), write results to file system, unload processed files and continue at step 1. Due to the fact it's an app with a GUI, i don't want to user to feel like the app "is not responding" while processing all soundfiles. (which it does at this time cause invokeAll is blocking). Im not sure what is a "good" way to fix this. It shall not be possible for the user to do other things while processing, but I'd like to show a progress bar like "10 of 100000 soundfiles are done". So how do I get there? Do I have to create a "watcher thread", so that every worker hold a callback on it? I'm quite new to multi threading, and don't get the idea of such a mechanisem..   • Animated background image in a hidden <div> doesn't load or loads not animated

    Hello, I have spent the whole day trying to make a script which on "submit" hides the form and shows hidden with animated progress bar. The problem is that Internet Explorer doesn't show animated gif images in hidden divs. The images are static. I visited many websites and found a script which uses: document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundImage = 'url(/images/load.gif)'; Finally, my script works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera but... Google Chrome doesn't display the image at all. I see only div text. After many tests I discovered the following: the only way to see the background image in Google Chrome is to include the same image somewhere in the page (outside of hidden div) with 1px dimensions: <img src="/images/load.gif" width="1" heigh="1" /> This did the trick but... after this dirty solution Microsoft Explorer for some reason shows the image as static again. So, my question is: is there any way how to force Gogle Chrome to show the image? Thanks.   • .htaccess non-www to www rule seems to work but the URL isn't changing in the address bar

    On a joomla site, apache, shared hosting, I'm using next .htaccess rule: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] The problem is that the browser's address bar text does not change from example.com to www.example.com. It seems the redirect actually works because all the links on the pages are changed to www. And after clicking on any link from there it always continues to have www added. The problem is the first page (no matter which one) that is loaded using browser's address bar - like example.com or example.com/random-page. Solved. The redirect actually works.

    I have this line in my .emacs file: (tool-bar-mode 0) because I hate the toolbars in my GUI emacs (/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs). But when I start up my other, text-based emacs in the terminal (/opt/local/bin/emacs) it complains about that command: Symbol's function definition is void: tool-bar-mode How can I add an if condition so that it executes the tool-bar-mode command only when I'm in the GUI emacs?   • Is there a way for Windows 7 to show remaining disk space in the status bar?

    This is really driving me nuts. I do a lot of moving media files to and from USB drives, and I am constantly looking to the status bar to see how much remaining space I have on a drive. It's quick, and doesn't involve any clicking. At least, that's what I used to do using Windows XP. Is there a way to get the status bar in Windows 7 to behave in the same way? I saw in a Wikipedia article that some features have been removed from Windows 7, including these two that seem to be affecting me the most: The size of any selected item and free disk space are not shown on the status bar. When no items are selected in a folder, neither the details pane nor the status bar show the total size of files in the folder. Are there any plug-ins or registry tweaks that can be made to return this functionality? If not what is the quickest way to get the remaining space on a drive without having to click on something and leaving the directory you are working in?

  • Dolphin search bar missing. How can i get it back?

    A while ago, my search bar went missing in dolphin. If the search toolbar is checked for view/unhide, nothing shows up. I noticed if i check and uncheck the button to hide/unhide it, a small, thin content-less bar slightly pushes the rest of the toolbar up. i tried reconfiguring with dpkg, purging and reinstalling, etc. i left it alone as i thought it would be fixed in an update, but today i upgraded daolphin and it's still gone. any thoughts?

    Of course I want my content to be indexed pretty fast by search engines, however not my notifications bar. My notifications bar contains the last 30 changes to content on the site, and I don't want this to show in my SEO meta. As all the notifications are generic, it often doesn't provide any relevant information. As I said the notifications are generic. If an article named "123" was created, it would create a notification that says "Article "123" was created by xxx at 12:00AM". I'm now wondering if this is a content design problem. As only 1/3 of this information is actually relevant to users (the title, what happened). By SEO meta, and irrelevant notification data being shown, I mean this - Basically what I was wondering, is how I could optimise this, so search engines wouldn't show this generic nonsense.

I used to have a few good extensions on my status bar in Firefox (Pagerank, AdBlock, etc) and now they all have to be placed in strange locations on the toolbars near the top without easily displaying any relevant information.     Partials in XML builder are proving to be non-trivial. After some initial Google searching, I found the following to work, although it's not 100% xml.foo do xml.id(foo.id) xml.created_at(foo.created_at) xml.last_updated(foo.updated_at) foo.bars.each do |bar| xml << render(:partial => 'bar/_bar', :locals => { :bar => bar }) end end this will do the trick, except the XML output is not properly indented. the output looks something similar to: <foo> <id>1</id> <created_at>sometime</created_at> <last_updated>sometime</last_updated> <bar> ... </bar> <bar> ... </bar> </foo> The <bar> element should align underneath the <last_updated> element, it is a child of <foo> like this: <foo> <id>1</id> <created_at>sometime</created_at> <last_updated>sometime</last_updated> <bar> ... </bar> <bar> ... </bar> </foo> Works great if I copy the content from bar/_bar.xml.builder into the template, but then things just aren't DRY.

    I have a full screen AS3 game maby with Adobe AIR that runs in Windows 7. In this game it may not be easy to exit (think about kiosk mode, only exit by pressing esc and enter a password). Now I want this game to run in Windows 8. The game is working like expected but the anoying things are these edge gestures/hot corners (left, top, right, bottom) and the shortcuts. I've read articles but none helped me. People talk about registery edits, but I dont get this working + the user needs to restart his/hers computer. I want to open my game, turn off gestures/hot corners and when the game closes the gestures/hot corners need to come back available again. I have seen some applications doing the same what I want to accomplish. I found this so I am able to detect the gestures. But how to ignore they're actions? I also read ASUS Smart Gestures but this is for the touch-pad. And I have tried Classic Shell but I need to disable the edge gestures/hot corners without such programs, just on-the-fly. I also found this but I don't know how to implement this. In the code, I added the navController just fine. The rootViewController loads perfectly: navController.viewControllers = [[NSArray arrayWithObject:rootViewController] retain]; [self.view addSubview:navController.view]; I changed the color of the navController just fine: navController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.6 green:0.75 blue:0.6 alpha:1.0]; navController.navigationBar.translucent = NO; I make a button (note: "done" refers to a IBAction that dismisses the modalviewcontroller): UIBarButtonItem *backButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"TEST" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone target:self action:@selector(done:)]; I make a navItem using that button: UINavigationItem *backNavItem = [[UINavigationItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"TESTTEST"]; [backNavItem setRightBarButtonItem:backButton animated:YES]; I try to add that button: [navController.navigationBar pushNavigationItem:backNavItem animated:YES]; This above code fails miserably. I apparently can't add buttons to the navController because: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Cannot call pushNavigationItem:animated: directly on a UINavigationBar managed by a controller.' Do I have to make a separate UINavigationBar that's somehow connected to my navController? I tried going that route but with no avail.

  • Linux: Send mail to external mail box from a server with that user's hostname

    I've got sendmail running on a linux box. Let's say the hostname of the box is bar.com. If I run the following command, I don't receive the email (which is hosted with a third party), presumably due to the hostname pointing to the local machine. echo "Test Body" | mail -s "Test Subject" [email protected] Is there any way to get this to work so that I can receive emails at my third party email address even though it has the same hostname? Do I have to change the hostname of this server (not preferred)? It may be worth noting that I created a user "foo" on my machine and noticed that the mailbox for that account is empty.
