    I'm trying to find the best version control strategy for my workflow with Drupal. I have multiple sites per install and I'm pretty sure I'll have a separate repository for each website. As far as I know, the VCSs worth considering are: SVN Bazaar (bzr) Git Mercurial (hg) I know how these compare to each other in general, but want to learn their merits/demerits for Drupal. If you're using (or have used) any of these for Drupal: What is your setup? What about the VCS you chose works well for managing Drupal projects? What doesn't?

  • How to add visible menu item from php code (drupal)

    I have a content type with important "created" date field. And I have a menu link (in primary links) which is link to page that shows list of all nodes of my content type. (http://example.com/mycontenttype) I want to have menu links (visible in primary links) to each year when nodes of my content type are displayed (http://example.com/mycontenttype/2010). And I want to add these menu links from mymodule_nodeapi function, when the node is creating and only if it has a "created" date of new year. I know that I can create a pathes in mymodule_menu function, but it doesn't create a visible menu item. (Maybe I can somehow set parent_link_id or something else to do it?)

    So I am overriding a theme function by putting the contents in my template.php module, the problem is that it it throwing up loads of undefined index notices because there are lots of functions that are defined in the module. How can I define these in the template.php file and prevent the notices.   • Have all internal links in drupal leave out subdirectory where docroot resides

    I've successfully followed some instructions online to get our plain url to direct to the content found in a subfolder (drupaldev) so that when you enter any url for that site even without the subdirectory name, it serves the correct page. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the internal links on the site that reference the '/drupaldev/' subdirectory. This is what my .htaccess file includes: RewriteRule ^$ drupaldev/index.php [L] RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/drupaldev%{REQUEST_URI} -f RewriteRule .* drupaldev/$0 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* drupaldev/index.php?q=$0 [QSA] And this is what my settings.php file contains: $base_url = 'http://www.bluewaterfederal.com'; As you can see, if you mouse over any of the links within the site, they all mention drupaldev, but if you take that same url and remove the "drupaldev" from it, it works fine...

    I've created a theme using Zen and all is well. I want to display some simple text and images in the sidebar, but I don't understand Drupal well enough to know what I'm doing. I have worked with Joomla which allows one to create a new HTML module, populate it, and then select where it appears on the page (and also of course which pages). I don't see this with Drupal. I've seen some talk about using the theme's templates, but I need for my client to be able to change the text (and/or images) without knowing anything about that. It would be best to create an article and be able to make that article appear in the side bar somehow. Is this possible?

  • drupal_get_form is not passing along node array

    I have not been able to get drupal_get_form to pass on the node data. Code snippets are below. The drupal_get_form documentation (api.drupal.org) states that it will pass on the extra parameters. I am basing the node data not being passed because (apparently) $node['language'] is not defined in hook_form which causes $form['qqq'] not to be created and thus the preview button shows up. My goal here is that the preview button show up using path "node/add/author" but doesn't show up for "milan/author/add". Any alternative methods for achieving this goal would be helpful but the question I want answered is in the preceding paragraph. Everything I've read indicates that it should work.     I just created a Drupal website on a uni.cc subdomain that is brand-new also (it has barely had the 24 hours to propagate).   • Nginx settings are screwing up my Drupal form submissions, how do I fix?

    How do I tell Nginx to "ignore" specific URLS or pages on my web site? I run a Drupal site where anonymous visitors get served via NGINX while logged in users get served via Apache. We do this to keep the load down and scale better. It works great, except, since we set up nginx, a good number of Drupal forms no longer work. For example, before installing Nginx, if you created a new article, then clicked "edit" and edited the article. You could click "save" and your changes to the article would be saved. After setting up nginx, when you make edits and then click "save," the page simple refreshes, but now with "nginx-index.php" inserted into the URL. And your changes to the form were not actually saved to the database. So if you go to edit an article, you'll be on domain.com/node/##/edit or something like that. When you try to save your changes to the form, you'll wind up at domain.com/nginx-index.php?q=node/##/edit. And your changes will not be saved. There is a way around this, but only for administrative users. If you go to a form where this problem is happening, then comment or comment-out three lines in our settings.php file, the form will save properly. Those three lines are: // 'cache_form' = array( // 'engine' = 'db', // ), If they're commented, you uncomment them, them save the form. If they're uncommented, you comment them out and save the form. Obviously, this sucks. My friend who set up our server (and then left the country) told me that there are some Nginx settings that can tell it to "ignore" certain URLs or pages which could work here. How do I do this and where do I do it?

  • drupal_add_css not working

    Hiya, I need to use drupal_add_css to call stylesheets onto single D6 pages. I don't want to edit the main theme stylesheet as there will be a set of individual pages which all need completely new styles - the main sheet would be massive if i put it all in there. My solution was to edit the page in PHP editor mode and do this: <?php drupal_add_css("/styles/file1.css", "theme"); ?> <div id="newPageContent">stuff here in html</div> But when i view source, there is nothing there! Not even a broken css link or anything, it's just refusing to add the css sheet to the css package put into the page head.     I wanted to add a tab to the user edit page ie user/%/edit/foo, and was using the twitter module as a model. After much spelunking and stepping through with a debugger, I realised that I needed to add a hook_user function in my module so that the %user_category part of the menu router path would work. It's now functioning as expected, but I don't really have a solid idea of what I just did, and haven't found a good explanation anywhere. Can anyone explain to me what it's about?

I can't seem to find anywhere that tells me so, so maybe it's not possible or not good practise.   • View of nodes and their translations

    I'm trying to create a view of nodes and their translations. Specifically, I want each row to show the node title for each language. The way I'm doing it right now is by filtering the view by a specific language, then adding one relationship of type "Node translation: Translations" for each language on the site. I can then choose the "Node: Title" field, once for the original language and once per relationship. The problem with this approach is that the nodes that don't exist in the filtered language, but exist in other languages, are not included in the view. That's what I need help with.
