  • Youtube "unable to convert video file"

    I encoded some videos from a dvd format (mpeg 2 I think) to h246 (using a .mkv container). When I upload them to youtube, most of them work, but there are a few that don't. After I upload it, I get the message "Failed (unable to convert video file)" What could be the problem because all the videos are the same format, and only a few of them fail. When I click upload details, while uploading, the file seems to be recognized by youtube: Format: MATROSKA Dimensions: 704 x 480 px Video codec: H264 Audio codec: AAC

  • What technologies allow bidirectional streaming of video?

    Wikipedia says that Flash allows "bidirectional streaming of audio and video". Is it possible to do that with other technologies (for example with JavaScript)? In other words, I want to transfer video from one user of web-site to another one in real time. I want to have something that is already installed by many users or easy to install (Flash fulfills this requirements). And I want to have something free.

    Il 24 e 25 Settembre 2012 a Firenze si svolgerà la conferenza “Better Embedded 2012”. Lo scopo della conferenza è quello di parlare di sistemi embedded a 360°, abbracciando sia lo sviluppo firmware, che i sistemi operativi e i toolkit dedicati alla realizzazione di sistemi dedicati. E’ un’ottima occasione per confrontarsi e, in soli due giorni, avere una panoramica ampia dall’hardware a Linux, da Android a Windows CE, dal .NET microframework a QT, senza troppi messaggi commerciali e con un’ottima apertura sia alle tecnologie commerciali che a quelle free e open source. Io parteciperò come speaker, parlando di Windows CE, ma anche come spettatore interessato a molte delle track di un programma che si va popolando e diventa mano a mano più interessante.   • PowerPoint slide resolution? (Optimizing video playback)

    In PowerPoint 2007, there seems to be no way of changing the resolution slide (only the aspect ratio and the output resolution can be chnaged?). If this is the case, then how do I optimize an inserted video for playback using an HD projector? Can I simply insert a video at high resolution and scale it down to fit the slide? Will these extra pixels come to use if the output resolution is high? Thanks!

  • Windows Embedded Compact 7

    This will be the official name of the new release of Windows CE. Windows Embedded Compact 7 is available as a public CTP and it already supports a wide range of CPUs and both the device emulator and VirtualPC emulated environments. So I’ll have to learn a new (and longer) name for my favorite OS… but I (and all my two readers!) will be able to test it as soon as the download from connect web site completes (I'm sorry for my readers, but you'll have to download it by yourselves). Here’s a link for the download (it's free but you’ll have to register on connect with a valid LiveId): https://connect.microsoft.com/windowsembeddedce Remember that this is still a beta (or “Community Technology Preview” if you speak marketing language) and so it’s better to not install it on your main development PC (or, at least, backup everything before installation) and that the features and performances you’ll get from this beta may not be the same ones of the final release of the OS.   • Embeding EasyVideoPlayer Code into Wordpress Theme - Video not showing

    I'm attempting to place some embed code into a Premium WordPress Theme. NOTE: I'm not great when it comes to php. The embed code is produced by a video player called EasyVideoPlayer. (Basically it allows me to use Amazon S3 and gives me feedback on when people stop watching the video.) This is the embed code I have: _evpInit('ZXh0cmEtbW9uZXktZnJvbS1ob21lLTEubW92'); I've opened the index.php wordpress file and placed this video embed code in between the that represents the area of the website I want it to show up. However the video is not showing. If we place both the theme and video player aside, would you expect the php code to accept what I've done or is this not the way to go about adding this embed code? NOTE:I've contacted both the Wordpress Premium Theme support at Woothemes.com and the video players support for EasyVideoPlayer.com However both tend to stop at the point that another paid product is involved!   • Editing XML Literals Embedded Expressions in Visual Basic 2010 (Avner Aharoni)

    The implicit line continuation feature in Visual Basic 2010 provided an opportunity to improve the code editing experience in XML literals embedded expressions. In Visual Studio 2008, pressing Enter inside an embedded expression would result in the cursor being positioned to the left of the end embedded expression tag. In Visual Studio 2010, pressing Enter inserts a newline for the cursor, and the end embedded expression tag moves to the line below.   • Best software to convert video to a different aspect ratio for various screensizes

    I sometimes get .mp4 and other video formats whose aspect ratio is clearly off What apps do you use to reconvert such videos to an aspect ratio better suited to to fit either a regular desktop or LCD screen size? Hopefully with little or no loss of audio/video quality Any instructions on best settings to use would be very welcome. I have so far mostly used vlc which came off with less-than-ideal results. Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Multimedia PDF (Audio, Video and Links) That works on Desktop and iOS

    We've got a client that wants to have a PDF that has embedded audio, video and links. Using Acrobat Pro 9.x I've been able to embed all three no problem. They all work/playback if I use Acrobat Pro/Acrobat Reader. But don't show up in OS X's Preview at all. They also don't show up in iOS. Links work everywhere, but no multimedia. So I tried creating a similar document via Apple's iBooks Author, then exported as a PDF. Links work, but multimedia doesn't seem to work anywhere. Is there any way to make a PDF that works universally with embedded links and multimedia?

  • Support ARMv7 instruction set in Windows Embedded Compact applications

    On of the most interesting new features of Windows Embedded Compact 7 is support for the ARMv5, ARMv6 and ARMv7 instruction sets instead of the ARMv4 “generic” support provided by the previous releases. This means that code build for Windows Embedded Compact 7 can leverage features (like the FPU unit for ARMv6 and v7) and instructions of the recent ARM cores and improve their performances. Those improvements are noticeable in graphics, floating point calculation and data processing. The ARMv7 instruction set is supported by the latest Cortex-A8, A9 and A15 processor families. Those processor are currently used in tablets, smartphones, in-car navigation systems and provide a great amount of processing power and a low amount of electric power making them very interesting for portable device but also for any kind of device that requires a rich user interface, processing power, connectivity and has to keep its power consumption low. The bad news is that the compiler provided with Visual Studio 2008 does not provide support for ARMv7, building native applications using just the ARMv4 instruction set. Porting a Visual Studio “Smart Device” native C/C++ project to Platform Builder is not easy and you’ll lack many of the features that the VS2008 application development environment provides. You’ll also need access to the BSP and OSDesign configuration for your device to be able to build and debug your application inside Platform Builder and this may prevent independent software vendors from using the new compiler to improve their applications performances. Adeneo Embedded now provides a whitepaper and a Visual Studio plug-in that allows usage of the new ARMv7 enabled compiler to build applications inside Visual Studio 2008. I worked on the whitepaper and the tools, with the help of my colleagues and now the results can be downloaded from Adeneo Embedded’s website: http://www.adeneo-embedded.com/OS-Technologies/Windows-Embedded (Click on the “WEC7 ARMv7 Whitepaper tab to access the download links, free registration required) A very basic benchmark showed a very good performance improvement in integer and floating-point operations. Obviously your mileage may vary and we can’t promise the same amount of improvement on any application, but with a small effort on your side (even smaller if you use the plug-in) you can try on your own application. ARMv7 support is provided using Platform Builder’s compiler and VS2008 application debugger is not able to debut ARMv7 code, so you may need to put in place some workaround like keeping ARMv4 code for debugging etc.

    Is there an application that can emulate a dvd player? I've converted a .mp4 video using allok video converter. And choose the output format to be xVid(.avi)<--that is exactly what is written on the application. I don't want to waste a blank dvd and try if it really can be played. So if you have tried this before please tell me if it works. And I have tried burning .avi files and it works because they are genuine avi files which I did not convert

    I use the camera intent to capture video. Here is the problem: If I use this line of code, I can record video. But onActivityResult doesn't work.
