  • Is there a Java equivalent for Ruby on Rails "url_for"?

    I have written something like this pretty easily in C# (string GetUrl(new { controller = "foo", action = "bar", baz = "fnord" }), based on the existing capabilities of the XmlRouteCollection class provided by the ASP.NET MVC framework (why it isn't there out of the box is beyond me; the additional required code was trivial). I am now faced with a JSP project, and I need the same ability: centralize the logic for generating all URLs in one place, based on a list of routing rules. Is there some code somewhere I could reuse/adapt to do this in Java? It seems like a common enough requirement, but google proved surprisingly unhelpful in finding something like this.

  • What is the MSBuild equivalent to ant's -project-help?

    I come from an ant background, and I'm starting to use msbuild. I want to create a .proj file with targets for clean, compile, deploy, etc. In ant, I would expect my user to run ant -project-help to get a list of the targets with their descriptions. There doesn't appear to be anything like this with msbuild, so I was thinking of setting DefaultTargets to "Help" and adding this target: <Target Name="Help"> <Message Text="/t:Clean - Remove all bin folders and generated files"/> <Message Text="/t:Compile - Generate assembly"/> <Message Text="/t:Deploy - Install the assembly"/> </Target> When I run msbuild, I see this: Microsoft (R) Build Engine Version 3.5.30729.1 [Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0.50727.3053] Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 2007. All rights reserved. Build started 5/13/2010 9:00:00 AM.     In vb.net there is a weird approach that you can use the function name as the result variable.. example: Function Foo(ByVal bar As Integer) As List(Of Integer) Foo = New List(Of Integer) Foo.Add(bar + 1) End Function As far as i know, in C# you have to: List<int> foo(int bar) { var result = new List<int>(); result.Add(bar + 1); return result; } I'm not sure if it's by design or i just don't know the right way to do this..   • Common Lisp's equivalent of \r inside the format function?

    Basically, I'd like to do the following, only using Common Lisp instead of Python: print("Hello world.\r\n") I can do this, but it only outputs the #\newline character and skips #\return: (format t "Hello world.~%") I believe I could accomplish this using an outside argument, like this: (format t "Hello world.~C~%" #\return) But is seems awkward to me. Surely I can somehow embed #\return into the very format string, like I can #\newline? Yeah ehh, I'm nitpicking. Thanks for any help!

    I've googled for JUnit test case, and it comes up with something that looks a lot more complicated to implement - where you have to create a new class that extends test case which you then call: public class MathTest extends TestCase { protected double fValue1; protected double fValue2; protected void setUp() { fValue1= 2.0; fValue2= 3.0; } } public void testAdd() { double result= fValue1 + fValue2; assertTrue(result == 5.0); } but what I want is something really simple, like the NUnit test cases [TestCase(1,2)] [TestCase(3,4)] public void testAdd(int fValue1, int fValue2) { double result= fValue1 + fValue2; assertIsTrue(result == 5.0); } Is there any way to do this in JUnit?

  • Is there a way to have the equivalent of multiple :before and :after pseudo-elements in CSS?

    Currently I have this markup that represents an icon container and some elements styled with CSS inside it that in the end show as graphic icon. <div class="icon"> <div class="icon-element1"></div> <div class="icon-element2"></div> <div class="icon-element3"></div> </div> The number of the child elements can be different depending on the complexity of the icon. What I want is to somehow move as much as possible to CSS stylesheet, so that ideally I would have only <div class="icon"></div> and the rest would just render from CSS styles, something close in concept to :before/:after, a kind of virtual divs. I don't want to use JavaScript to add the elements dynamically. It would be possible to do this if we had multiple :before/:after. Here is an example of an icon I get by using the markup from above: As you can see, there are 3 child elements representing gray case, white screen and turquoise button. Please advise, how I can simplify this markup so that not to have to put all the divs each time I want this icon to be shown.

  • c# video equivalent to image.fromstream? Or changing the scope of the following script to allow vide

    The following is a part of an upload class in a c# script. I'm a php programmer, I've never messed with c# much but I'm trying to learn. This upload script will not handle anything except images, I need to adapt this class to handle other types of media also, or rewrite it all together. If I'm correct, I realize that using (Image image = Image.FromStream(file.InputStream)) basically says that the scope of the following is Image, only an image can be used or the object is discarded? And also that the variable image is being created from an Image from the file stream, which I understand to be, like... the $_FILES array in php?     Is there any method that is called or event that is dispatched right before an Element is cleaned up by the JavaScript garbage collector? In Perl I would write: package MyObj; sub new {bless {}} sub DESTROY {print "cleaning up @_\n"} and then later: { my $obj = MyObj->new; # do something with obj } # scope ends, and assuming there are no external references to $obj, # the DESTROY method will be called before the object's memory is freed My target platform is Firefox (and I have no need to support other browsers), so if there is only a Firefox specific way of doing this, that is fine. And a little background: I am writing the Perl module XUL::Gui which serves as a bridge between Perl and Firefox, and I am currently working on plugging a few memory leaks related to DOM Elements sticking around forever, even after they are gone and no more references remain on the Perl side. So I am looking for ways to either figure out when JavaScript Elements will be destroyed, or a way to force JavaScript to cleanup an object.

    Basically, how do I link an Outlook form and a C# back end? In VB you can write on the form Sub ButtonName_Click() Dim Recipients With Item.GetInspector.ModifiedFormPages("Message") Set Recipients = .Controls("To") End With End Sub which will fire whenever the button named "ButtonName" on the form is clicked and will set the variable Recipients to a string of whatever is in the To text box. Now I have a custom form, and I have a VS C# Outlook Add-in, and they're two separate things. I've got an event handler that can catch MailItem objects, but I don't know how to handle custom form button clicks or even how to access elements on the form. EDIT - Just to clarify, the custom form was created in Outlook and then its .ofs was imported into VS. Both Outlook and VS are 2010.
