  • Using Windows Explorer, how to find file names starting with a dot (period), in 7 or Vista?

    I've got a MacBook laptop in the house, and when Mac OS X copies files over the network, it often brings along hidden "dot-files" with it. For instance, if I copy "SomeUtility.zip", there will also be copied a hidden ".SomeUtility.zip" file. I consider these OS X dot-files as useless turds of data as far as the rest of my network is concerned, and don't want to leave them on my Windows file server. Let's assume these dot-files will continue to happen. i.e. Think of the issue of getting OS X to stop creating those files, in the first place, to be another question altogether. Rather: How can I use Windows Explorer to find files that begin with a dot / period? I'd like to periodically search my file server and blow them away. I tried searching for files matching ".*" but that yielded – and not unexpectedly – all files and folders. Is there a way to enter more specific search criteria when searching in Windows Explorer? I'm referring to the search box that appears in the upper-right corner of an Explorer window. Please tell me there is a way to escape my query to do what I want? (Failing that, I know I can map a drive letter and drop into a cygwin prompt and use the UNIX 'find' command, but I'd prefer a shiny easy way.)

  • how to open many tabs in chromium but unload/disable inactive/notCurrent ones, releasing memory and cpu?

    So I have 50 tabs opened on chromium, but that is using too much memory and some of the CPU. How can I have all those concurrent researches I am doing opened but not clog my machine? I think there should have a way that only the active tab is loaded in memory and running, and all the others should stay closed/unloaded from memory, until I want to look at them... Any extension can do something like that?

  • jQuery UI Tabs force delay before changing tab on mouseover

    Using the jQuery UI Tabs 1.7.2 with jQuery 1.4.2, is there a way to make it so that when you mouseover a tab, there is a delay before the tab switches? I've been looking into using the hoverIntent plugin to do this, but cannot figure out how it would fit in. Right now my code looks like: var tabs = $('.tabs').tabs({ event: 'mouseover' }); I've tried playing around with a callback on the show event, but I think I'm doing it wrong or not clear on when the callback happens: $( ".tabs" ).tabs({ show: function(event, ui) { setTimeout("FUNCTION_TO_CHANGE_TAB?", 200); } }); Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Optimizing jQuery for Tabs

    I am in the process of developing a widget. If the user changes tabs quickly the widget gets behing and bogged down. This causes the tabs to to not align with the data being displayed and just general lag. I believe that this is because the tab is being changed before $.load() is finished. I have tried to implement the following: ("#tabs li a").click(function() { $("#tabs li.active").removeClass("active"); $("#tab_content").load($(this).attr('href'), function (){ $(this).parent().addClass("active"); }); return false; }); It is my understanding that the callback function within in the load function does not execute until the load function is completed. I think this would solve my problem, however I can not come up with a way to select the correct tab that was clicked within the callback function. If this is not the way to do this then what is the best way implement these tabs so that they would stop loading an old request and load the newest tab selection by the user? Thanks

    Hi, I am using ui tabs a lot.In my last project i add an icon just before tabs and the tab links start a strange behavior, you can not click to change the tabs if you are above tab name BUT only when you are outside tab name.     Are there any extensions for Chrome that allow me to export all currently opened tabs as a text file, containing all the URLs of those tabs? I don't necessarily need it to be a text file if there is another way that you can think of. My goal is to share the URLs with someone via email. I'm currently using Session Manager to save my open tabs but it has no functionality to export them as described above.

So, if I have 40 Open Tabs, and I want to keep only 3 open, this addon should be able to close the other 37.   • SQL – Quick Start with Explorer Sections of NuoDB – Query NuoDB Database

    This is the third post in the series of the blog posts I am writing about NuoDB. NuoDB is very innovative and easy-to-use product. I can clearly see how one can scale-out NuoDB with so much ease and confidence. In my very first blog post we discussed how we can install NuoDB (link), and in my second post I discussed how we can manage the NuoDB database transaction engines and storage managers with a few clicks (link). Note: You can Download NuoDB from here. In this post, we will learn how we can use the Explorer feature of NuoDB to do various SQL operations. NuoDB has a browser-based Explorer, which is very powerful and has many of the features any IDE would normally have. Let us see how it works in the following step-by-step tutorial. Let us go to the NuoDBNuoDB Console by typing the following URL in your browser: http://localhost:8080/ It will bring you to the QuickStart screen. Make sure that you have created the sample database. If you have not created sample database, click on Create Database and create it successfully. Now go to the NuoDB Explorer by clicking on the main tab, and it will ask you for your domain username and password. Enter the username as a domain and password as a bird. Alternatively you can also enter username as a quickstart and password as a quickstart. Once you enter the password you will be able to see the databases. In our example we have installed the Sample Database hence you will see the Test database in our Database Hierarchy screen. When you click on database it will ask for the database login. Note that Database Login is different from Domain login and you will have to enter your database login over here. In our case the database username is dba and password is goalie. Once you enter a valid username and password it will display your database. Further expand your database and you will notice various objects in your database. Once you explore various objects, select any database and click on Open. When you click on execute, it will display the SQL script to select the data from the table. The autogenerated script displays entire result set from the database. The NuoDB Explorer is very powerful and makes the life of developers very easy. If you click on List SQL Statements it will list all the available SQL statements right away in Query Editor. You can see the popup window in following image. Here is the cool thing for geeks. You can even click on Query Plan and it will display the text based query plan as well. In case of a SELECT, the query plan will be much simpler, however, when we write complex queries it will be very interesting. We can use the query plan tab for performance tuning of the database. Here is another feature, when we click on List Tables in NuoDB Explorer.  It lists all the available tables in the query editor. This is very helpful when we are writing a long complex query. Here is a relatively complex example I have built using Inner Join syntax. Right below I have displayed the Query Plan. The query plan displays all the little details related to the query. Well, we just wrote multi-table query and executed it against the NuoDB database. You can use the NuoDB Admin section and do various analyses of the query and its performance. NuoDB is a distributed database built on a patented emergent architecture with full support for SQL and ACID guarantees.  It allows you to add Transaction Engine processes to a running system to improve the performance of your system.  You can also add a second Storage Engine to your running system for redundancy purposes.  Conversely, you can shut down processes when you don’t need the extra database resources. NuoDB also provides developers and administrators with a single intuitive interface for centrally monitoring deployments.     I am developing a system that uses a little Internet page as a front-end for the whole program. Since I need to use ActiveX (sigh), the page must work on Internet Explorer. However, after some actions have been done the page needs to close itself. Using window.close() on Javascript it works, but before closing it prompts the user if it wants to close the Window. The ideal would be that it closes automatically. Is there any way to make IE8 (changing an option on the browser, not a code-only solution) not to prompt before closing the Window?

How do I fix this?

I'm doing this: function reloadtab(){ $('#tabs').tabs('load', $('#tabs').tabs('option', 'selected')); } Before you begin wondering: $('#tabs').tabs('option', 'selected'); returns 3. When I call reloadtab() I get no error, it simply doesn't work. Why does this happens? Thank you very much EDIT: I'm an idiot, it was working, was a problem with cache. Sorry.

    Hi there, I have readed about how to prevent CSRF-attacks in the last days. I am going to update the token in every pageload, save the token in the session and make a check when submitting a form. But what if the user has, lets say 3 tabs open with my website, and I just store the last token in the session? This will overwrite the token with another token, and some post-action is going to fail. Do I need to store all tokens in the session, or is there a better solution to get this working?     I run a blog in google blogger. I have many labels and I am searching for a way to make labels as tabs (where the pages gadget/widget is) and subtabs. Let me be more specific. I have a label called Games and four labels called PC Games, XBOX 360 Games, PS3 Games and Wii Games.     I'm running WinXP SP2. Around 50% of the time, when I slot in my USB drive. Windows explorer refuses to show the drive. If I click on the Safely remove hardware icon on the tray, I can see a menu item for the drive - say drive G: (the light on the USB drive is also on) If I type in G: into the address bar of explorer, it says 'Cannot find...' If I type in G: into a command prompt window, it works and I can do a dir to see the list of directories on the drive. To fix this, I've to remove-reinsert the pen-drive. But doing it every day is annoying. Also this happens only on this machine.. I use this drive on my home machine and it works flawlessly each time. Can anyone suggest things that I could try ? Thanks for reading...

    I have a file explorer shell extension called "Copy File Path" or "Copy Folder Path", depending on which pane I am in in file explorer, which copies the full path of a file or a folder to the clipboard. Because it's very handy for me, I use it many times during the day. To make it more productive, I would like to assign a function key to it instead of using the right mouse click context menu, looking for it in the menu (big menu because of many extensions) and selecting it. The way I want to use it is select the file with the mouse and hit the function key. Is there a utility or tool, tray taskmaybe, which can add this functionality to Windows?

    Jeder kennt die Reiterkarten im APEX Application Builder, mit der eleganten Möglichkeit, das Untermenü als Pulldown-Menü aufzuklappen. Und viele fragen sich, wie man sowas in eigenen APEX-Anwendungen verwenden könnte. Spätestens, wenn man dabei noch mehr als eine Hiararchieebene unterstützen möchte, kommen APEX Reiterkarten (Tabs) nicht mehr in Frage, denn diese unterstützen nur zwei Ebenen. Im Internet findet sich der eine oder andere Tipp zum Thema; allerdings basieren viele dieser Tipps auf den JavaScript-Funktionen, die auch der Application Builder intern verwendet. Allerdings sind diese nicht dokumentiert - man kann sich also nicht darauf verlassen, dass der Ansatz in künftigen APEX-Versionen noch funktioniert. Besser ist es also, eine Lösung zu erstellen, die keinerlei Abhängigkeiten zu undokumentierten Funktionen hat. Dieser Tipp stellt eine Lösung auf der Basis von APEX-Listen vor. Listen haben den Vorteil, dass Sie beliebig geschachtelt werden können, bei Klick können sie auf beliebige Ziele verweisen und mit Listentemplates kann die Darstellung ebenfalls beliebig gestaltet werden.   • Is there any way to get tree organisation for Windows 7 file explorer favorites?

    In XP there was a MenuBar called Favorites which seemed to be based on Internet Explorer Favorites. It was fantastic because it allowed for very fast tree style navigation (if set up correctly you could navigate it using first letter keystrokes, so to access a shortcut named "videos" in a folder named "files" was as quick as Alt-A f v) This was removed in Vista (and imo generally regressed the file explorer). This was fine because I never used it, but I'm resigned to eventually embracing the inevitability that is Windows 7. Dealing with a single non-nested list of favourites is pretty painful to me as I have quite a lot of them. Is there a way to make a tree like favorites structure in Windows 7? My fingers are crossed.
