Williams: Can anyone turn it on remotely if it's off? Snowden: They can absolutely turn it on with the power turned off on the device. I concede Snowden's first point, fine. But the last? Does Snowden's last claim, that a powered off mobile device can be remotely turned, have any merit? It seems highly improbable and seemingly impossible.

  • Connect to internet with Qt for symbian

    I'm creating a Qt Symbian application and need to connect to internet. In some way I need to let the user choose a connection when the app starts. I could use Qt Mobility to get it working but when Nokia approves I wan't do publish my application on Ovi Store. As the Qt Mobility is not included in Qt 4.6 it might be a problem to publish my app later. So for this reason I'm thinking of using native APIs instead. The idea is to use: qt_SetDefaultIap() to set the connection on start. I have been looking at this to actually understand what it is doing. If I have two connections that the app could use, one with WIFI and one through mobile internet, which one will qt_SetDefaultIap() choose? And can I in some way with native api make the user choose a connection on start up? (qt_SetDefaultIap seems to just set a default connection on its own, without user choice) Thanks!

  • Why can't I access a particular website even though the server appears to be available

    I can't access http://www.lynda.com/ with any of my browsers on my home network. By checking http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/, I can see that the server is up and I can access it via a proxy like TOR. This screen appears immediately after I type the page in It doesn't even try to load the page, it seems. Though when I ping the server I get this: I tried to do ipconfig /flushdns. But it didn't help either. Anyone know how to fix this?

    This explanation isn't clear to me. Let me describe an application for web site recognition. Suppose that we want to know what everyone is doing with the web at starbuck. We can use wireshark or other programs to sniff all the packets. By grouping all the secondary connections with the primary one, then we would be able to get a much easier picture of user's primary activities. Is this talking about being able to recognize which websites each of the laptops are connecting to?

  • GWT Internet Explorer Problem

    Hi All, I am running into a problem which is quite a bit surprising.I have an GWT application,which i can run perfectly fine on Firefox,but the same GWT application does not open up in Internet Explorer. When using Firefox i use <set-property name="user.agent" value="gecko1_8"/> and when i want to run in Internet Explorer i change it to <set-property name="user.agent" value="ie8"/> and debug.This way i am sure that the problem i am having is not related to deferred binding. When using the Internet Explorer (IE 8) i cannot even get into the onModuleLoad() part of my application.It looks as if Internet Explorer has downloaded all its stuff ,but has nothing to display. Is there something that i am missing here Thanks Bhargava

    Hi, I'm trying to connect to a SQL server from VB. The SQL server is across the network uses my windows login for authentication. I can access the server using the following python code: import odbc conn = odbc.odbc('SignInspection') c = conn.cursor() c.execute("SELECT * FROM list_domain") c.fetchone() This code works fine, returning the first result of the SELECT. However, I've been trying to use the SqlClient.SqlConnection in VB, and it fails to connect. I've tried several different connection strings but this is the current code: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim conn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection conn.ConnectionString = "data source=signinspection;initial catalog=signinspection;integrated security=SSPI" Try conn.Open() MessageBox.Show("Sweet Success") 'Insert some code here, woo Catch ex As Exception MessageBox.Show("Failed to connect to data source.") (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) I'm fairly certain it's my connection string, but nothing I've found has given me any solid examples (server=mySQLServer is not a solid example) of what I need to use.   • When XP is asleep for a long time LAN reports code 43, gives up the ghost.

    This one's got me stumped. Whenever the system is asleep for a long time, e.g overnight, the LAN driver reports error code 43 ("a problem") and turns itself off. This has being going on for months, but I never caught the problem until now. The owner merely shuttles back to a restore point I set her when the machine worked. Previously (without knowing exactly what was happening) I have tried everything to resolve this. Manually resetting the TCP/IP, fiddling with the driver Wake From LAN settings, DIFFERENT drivers, etc. etc. The solution is easy, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Understandably, though, the user is uncomfortable with this operation and the problem persists. What's causing it and how to stop it recurring? Any ideas? Thanks in advance to this great community.   • Multiple Connection Types for one Designer Generated TableAdapter

    I have a Windows Forms application with a DataSet (.xsd) that is currently set to connect to a Sql Ce database. Compact Edition is being used so the users can use this application in the field without an internet connection, and then sync their data at day's end. I have been given a new project to create a supplemental web interface for displaying some of the same reports as the Windows Forms application so certain users can obtain reports without installing the Windows app. What I've done so far is create a new Web Project and added it to my current Solution. I have split both the reports (.rdlc) and DataSets out of the Windows Forms project into their own projects so they can be accessed by both the Windows and Web applications. So far, this is working fine. Here's my dilemma: As I said before, the DataSets are currently set up to connect to a local Sql Ce database file. This is correct for the Windows app, but for the Web application I would like to use these same TableAdapters and queries to connect to the Sql Server 2005 database. I have found that the designer generated, strongly-typed TableAdapter classes have a ConnectionModifier property that allows you to make the TableAdapter's Connection public. This exposes the Connection property and allows me to set it, however it is strongly-typed as a SqlCeConnection, whereas I would like to set it to a SqlConnection for my Web project. I'm assuming the DataSet Designer strongly-types the Connection, Command, and DataAdapter objects based on the Provider of the ConnectionString as indicated in the app.config file. Is there any way I can use some generic provider so that the DataSet Designer will use object types that can connect to both a Sql Ce database file AND the actual Sql Server 2005 database? I know that SqlCeConnection and SqlConnection both inherit from DbConnection, which implements IDbConnection. Relatively, the same goes for SqlCeCommand/SqlCommand:DbCommand:IDbCommand. It would be nice if I could just figure out a way for the designer to use the Interface types rather than the strong types, but I'm hesitant that that is possible. I hope my problem and question are clear. Any help is much appreciated. Let me know if there's anything I can clarify.

  • How to detect working internet connection in C#?

    I have a C# code that basically uploads a file via FTP protocol (using FtpWebRequest). I'd like, however, to first determine whether there is a working internet connection before trying to upload the file (since, if there isn't there is no point in trying, the software should just sleep for a time and check again). Is there an easy way to do it or should I just try to upload the file and in case it failed just try again, assuming the network connection was down?

    Does anyone know the best (or any) way to flush a JDBC connection pool? I can't find anything obvious in the documentation. It appears connection pools aren't meant to ever be deleted. My current thought is to delete all DataSources from the hash we store them in, which will trigger our code to make new ones. However, my first attempt throws a ConcurrentModificationException.

    Our performance testing team is running test on our WPF-WCF-Sql Server application and they are facing connection timeout after the load goes above 75 users Error -27796: Failed to connect to server "81.171.180.119:4567": [10060] Connection timed out I would like to know what can be steps to look at bottlenecks which may be causing issues like maybe some setting in Load Runner or identify the code bottlenecks.
