• What SDK I should choose on Amazon Web Service to build API on server app?

  I am a newbie on Amazon Web Service. I have a task that setup then build a web service that provide APIs to Mac OS, iOS, Android client. There are some APIs and Database need to be kept in secure. I see that AWS support multiple platform such as Java, .Net, PHP,... It also support many Database Management System. Not yet, there are 2 special SDK for Android and iOS app. So, What should I choose (Java, .Net, PHP,...) to carry out my task? Does AWS support all webservice protocol? • Need help connecting to NAS externally-port forwarding and DDNS newbie

  Hi folks, I just picked up a synology NAS, and I'm loving it for internal use, but I want to be able to access the NAS externally-both from my iPhone (3G) and from the net. I have a Linksys WRT54G-TM router. My first question is whether I have set up the dyndns correctly. On my computer that is on my network, if I put in mydomain.dyndns.org, I am taken to a password popup and when I enter my router login and password, my router admin page opens up. On the same computer, I get the same results if I use my external IP address, and if I use my internal IP 192.168.0.1 So that is all as expected. However, when I go to my iphone and turn off wifi, and try to connect with 3g to the external IP or the dnydns domain, I just get an error "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". What's up?

  New Ubuntu User Needs Help!- version 9.10 does not communicate with laptop Hello folks, Several days ago, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto my Acer Aspire 3100 laptop, running it alongside Widows Vista as a dual-bootable system. Creation of the Ubuntu boot CD went fine, and the installation onto my hard drive was flawless. Ubuntu opens and behaves as I would expect, except for one little problem. For reasons unknown to me, Ubuntu is not communicating with my laptop's networking hardware, and I have no internet connectivity, even when sitting directly under the wireless router at the local library (literally), which puts out a wickedly-fast signal that my Windows Vista OS auto-detects and immediately connects to. Up in the right side of the Ubuntu desktop, I click on the network icon and it does not show a wireless connection at all, even though I am only a few feet from the router. At home, where I use a dialup modem, I also see no means of getting online. My modem is an HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP,manufactured by CXT (Conexant Systems Inc., file version 4.0.13.0, and the driver version is 7.58.0.0). I desparately wish to convert to Ubuntu. I used Mac for ten years, and then Windows for ten years. Now, after 20 years, I want to live out my days as an open-source Ubuntu fanatic. I am ready to give the old status quo the boot! I am an advanced computer user, but I am not a programmer. I seek a solution that is user-friendly for normal people, something equivalent to a driver that I can easily install or activate that will allow Ubuntu to see my hardware and get me connected. Can anyone help me over this hopefully-little glitch so that I can move on in total Ubuntu bliss? My processor is a Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ at 1.80 GHz, 1.50 GB RAM, and a 32-bit Operating System. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic, Service Pack 2. My current email is [email protected] if you have a workable solution that does not require programmer status to implement. Surely this must be a simple fix that I simply am overlooking, but being the new guy on the block, I have yet to be enlightened. Thanks for your help in coming up to speed!! • IPSec tunnel between FortiGate and iPhone / iOS - Works except for DNS / Wins

  I have configured my Fortigate with a new VPN IPSec tunnel to allow the iOS Cisco client to connect. That works fine. I can RDP to my servers, browse to my servers via IP address, etc. But, the iPhone does not resolve my internal IP addresses. • VMWare Newbie - looking for hardware recommendations and help :) [closed]

  I am looking for some hardware recommendations on an upcoming virtualization project. We are a small company (80 users - 25 in site 1, 55 in site 2) currently using Windows Server 2003 - no VM servers yet. Our AD is setup where site 1 is the root domain and site 2 is a subdomain/subnet - connected by T1 and VPN for failover. The current DC's also server as file servers, print servers, AntiVirus servers. Email is in the cloud. Additionally then in site 1 we have 3 additional member servers - one running IBM Websphere for a customer specific app, one running Infor PowerLink (no real heavy load) and another that we use for Virtual Studio apps and also runs DirSync for Exchange Online. No heavy workloads on any of these machines really. We also have an AS400 box that we run ERP/CRM software on that site 2 connects to over the WAN link. In site 2 we also have a SQL machine that runs on Win2K server. Database files are not large less than 5 GB. Light to Medium workload on this machine. File servers in each site store less than 500 GB data and probably won't grow to more than 1TB in the next 5 years. I am looking to go to VMWare in both sites and virtualize all servers. What recommendations do you have for server, storage hardware? Is it safe to virtualize all of your DC's? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Newbie one: Virtual Networks - Hyper-V - Remote Destktop - Only one phisical NIC

  Hello everyone, I'll try to explain my situation and I'll apreciate any help: I have a phisical server (quad core, 4Gb ram, 1TB raid 10, etc) with Win Server 2008 R2 enterprise, running IIS, Printing, etc... Also, I want to set up 2 virtual Servers with 2008 R2 standart one with SQL Server and the other with Team Foundation. What i need is: Being able to access from inside the private phisical network, to Remote Desktops on each of the Virtual and the phisical Servers Had Access from the outside, using a router and port Forwarding, to the TFS server and the IIS server (one is virtualized, the other is phisical) This is it, but note that I only have one Phisical Nic. How do I configure this to work. When i set up the hyper-v role, on the wizard something like it showed up but I don't remmember what i choose, and right now, I cannot access none of the servers from remote desktop, not even from the phisical private network. Can anybody point me, what can i do? Thanks in advance (sorry 4 my english, i'm a spanish talker and my english isn't that good)

• newbie hard drive upgrade question

  I have an Acer Aspire 3500WLMi laptop. It currently has a 40gb hard drive which I would like to upgrade. Could someone talk me through the process? I've listed my concerns/queries... Can I buy and install any 2.5" SATA or IDE hard drive into this machine? Should I buy somesort of USB caddy and clone my existing drive onto the new one via USB then physically swap the drives over? My current disk is partitioned to include a small amount of space for a Ubuntu install. Will a clone keep the current partition sizes or is it best for me to repartition once I've cloned?   Ok.... So I'm part of the iOS developer program and downloaded iOS 6.0 Beta to my iPod Touch. But, I was having troubles getting XCode Beta to run so I tried to downgrade back to the current 5.1.1. Halfway through the downgrade, the process encountered an error. Now my iPod won't boot. I tried restoring it in iTunes, but I think it's trying to restore it to version 6.0, not finding it on the Apple website since it's not out yet, and failing. Any ideas on how to restore my ipod??

• Newbie: VirtualBox "no bootable medium found"

  My first foray into VM land so please excuse the stupidity expressed below. Running VirtualBox on Kubuntu 9.10 and trying to set up a VM running Windows 7. Windows 7 came installed and is functional as a dual-boot but I want to stay in kubuntu hence the VM. Received "Fatal: no bootable medium found" when trying to start a VM. Not surprising since VBox never gave me an option (that I recognized anyway) to tell it to look on the hard drive. I did not receive a CD of Windows 7 with the machine. How can I tell VirtualBox to grab what it needs from the hard drive? Or am I out of luck because I don't have a CD? Update: This might not be possible. The installed Windows 7 is useful only to pull the installation key. It is easier to just to download or get an ISO from a friend and enter in your own key.

  I'm developing an iPad application that will have integration with IBM Cognos in the near future. As part of that integration I have a very special requirement: It should be possible to open my application from Cognos Mobile app (the native app). Common sense tells me it's not possible to do that, since Cognos Mobile is a closed application, but it wouldn't hut to ask anyway. Is it possible to do that? What about the other way around? iOS uses URL Schemas to open apps from other apps, but as far as I know Cognos Mobile doesn't register any Url Schema to interact with it. Thank you!

• Is anyone else having issues with opening app links on iOS6 iPad3?

  Links to ios apps (to the app store) are not working for me on my iPad 3/iOS 6. I thought it was my code causing the problem initially, but then I tried it on an iPhone, and an older iPad 2 and they both worked. I looked into it further and it seems no links are working (that I can find). I have googled, but I have not found anything yet. Is there anyone else having this problem? Example: link - this link will work on my computer and phone, but not on my iPad3 running iOS6 - it will just bring up the app store app showing the main screen.

• Redirect traffic to local address so iOS speedtest app measures LAN speed

  I have mounted a Speedtest Mini server on a local LAMP, so I can test my LAN speeds effortlessly just by opening the URL with a Flash enabled web browser, the thing is, I want my iOS and Android devices to test with the LAN server too, not with the WAN, as I'm trying to measure LAN-Only performance. Is there a way so I can redirect the traffic intended to an specific external IP (The one of the real server) to my local server?. I know the servers IP as a short Wireshark analysis gave me the data, but still searching for a way to make that redirect. I have Jailbreak and root on my devices, so playing with system files is not a problem. I've tried mounting a proxy and making redirects by the hosts file and domain names, but it looks like Ookla's app relies on IP address only.

• Exchange 2007 Backup - For a newbie

  I am trying to setup an exchange 2007 backup solution. After doing a lot of reading, Microsoft have decided in server 2008 unless you are willing to spend a great deal on a 3rd party solution you are pretty stuck! Essentially what I have been asked to do is perform an off-line file backup of our current exchange server and replicate this onto a new 2nd server. The reasoning behind this is that we need to upgrade our current installation of exchange 2007 to SP2 so that the exchange plug-in for windows server backup will be available to us. From this I can then actually take an exchange aware backup weekly and take it off site. Ideally then also we can migrate to this new server and keep the old one as a fail over. Is there a way I can copy across the files required onto a second server, although I doubt very much it is that simple. I may be barking up completely the wrong tree, however I have very limited knowledge with Exchange and any help and advice on how I would resolve this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

• some problem with iOS 4.2.1

  Hi, I've been developing an app with MacBook Pro (MBP) so far. Last week one of my friends gave me new macbook air 11"(MBA). so Now I can test my code with more than one machine with the same version of developing tools - Both machine has Xcode (3.2.5) and iOS SDK 4.2.1). After some point my app starts get terminated suddenly(iPhone sumulator), and I was using MBP. I got no error message whatsoever. it just stops. I reckon the crash comes from dealing with memory, like 'release'/ 'double-release'. (I'm not 100% sure though). Anyway I thought there must be some mistake within my code for sure. -Confusion starts from this part.- With my MBA, on the other hand, I don'y see any crash. It just works fine. There is nothing different between MBA & MBP except the h/w specifications. Same code, same versions of XCode and iOS SDK. Is the fact that no crash at MBA suggesting that I have to look somewhere else than the code itself? I red some article and Q&As on iOS4.2.1 and XCode 3.2.5 that the most recent version of XCode doesn't recognize the iOS 4.2.1 since the 4.2.1 came out later the 3.2.5. Is it the reason? I have no idea at this moment what should be the next move. thanks

  I get a blue screen of death in my windows 98 machine every time I boot it. I can't reach to my desktop. There is no other way to shut down the system at this point except pressing the CPU power button. What could be the problem? • Facebook SSO authorize in safari but not in facebook app

  My problem: I has developed an app with Facebook SSO in my iPhone/iPad. It was working OK. But I have changed the certificate of my app (so now it has new app ID). I also have changed the "iOS pack ID" property in Facebook: I deleted the old app ID and I added the new one. But now my app doesn't do the Facebook SSO when Facebook app is installed. It does it OK when Facebook app is not installed and it uses Safari. I have read this question and this question that say the problem is the "iOS pack ID" and app ID don't match. I have checked it a lot of times, and it is the same. I have put the old app ID in the "iOS pack ID" property of Facebook, but it still doesn't work. I don't know if Facebook take a time to check if my app ID is valid, and how they show the result. I have been a lot of time with this issue. It seem like the problem is the iOS pack ID is not exactly the app ID, but it is not the problem: they are exactly the same. Thank you very much.

  I've setup CUPS + Avahi on my NAS box in order to enable AirPrint with my existing network printer. Printing a test page via CUPS and printing us lp works fine, and I am able to see my printer on the printer list on my iOS device. However when sending a print job from my iOS device the printer status is set to paused and doesnt print anything. When checking the error_logs I have found this line which I believe is causing the error. • Cisco Catalyst 4500 Policy Based Routing

  In order to test a new firewall I just set up I'm trying to implement policy based routing on our core switch. I want traffic from certain vlans to be routed to the new firewall while everything else continues being routed through the old firewall. I was trying to use this guide. Everything from that guide works fine except trying to run the "ip policy route-map" command in the interface configuration mode. IOS is telling me that such a command doesn't exist. A "show ip interface vlan" command says that policy routing is disabled. Any ideas?   We have an HP Layer 3 Switch that is doing IP routing between vlans. The general set up is that the switch has an IP address on each VLAN and IP routing is enabled. On our servers VLAN, we have a firewall that has a connection to the outside world. To set a IP route on the HP router, we use IOS command ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.1 where 192.168.2.1 is the address of our firewall, and the zeros essentially mean to route all traffic that the switch doesn't know what to do with out the firewall as a gateway. We're in the middle of an ISP and firewall change. I set up the new firewall and ran the IOS command ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.254 (the address of the new firewall). Things started working nicely. When I reviewed the configuration of the switch though, I noticed that it did not replace the previous ip route command, but just added another route. Now, I know how to remove the old firewall route (no ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.2.1), but what is the effect of having these two 0.0.0.0 routes? Is it switch implosion? Will a server just respond back over the route it receives the request from? I've read elsewhere that having two default gateways is an impossibility by definition, but I'm curious about this situation that our switch allowed. Thanks!

• jQuery issue - #<an Object> has no method

  I've tried a veriety of jQuery plugins recently and I keep getting this error … … regardless of what plugin I try to use. I've checked the links to the JS files which are all there and working fine. I'm using Drupal if that makes any difference. I've run the plugins away from the main site to demonstrate that they are working and that I am doing things right with 100% success. Any ideas?
