  • iPhone App : Storing / Saving personal preferences once per App

    Hi, I want to store / save personal preference settings like Email, Phone number for an App. I have few forms which send info by Email to my ID. I want to know the Email & Phone number of user so I can contact this person if need be. I don't want users to keep entering their Email ID & Phone No. everytime in each form. It's wise to take these inputs (Email & Phone) just once per device / per App installed on the device. I am trying to use .plist for this purpose. I have no success. How do I do it? Any example code (or) links? Thanks. I would appreciate any help.

    I am trying to optimize multiple connections per time to a TCP socket server. Is it considered good practice, or even rational to initiate a new thread in the listening server every time I receive a connection request? At what time should I begin to worry about a server based on this infrastructure? What is the maximum no of background threads I can work, until it doesn't make any sense anymore? Platform is C#, framework is Mono, target OS is CentOS, RAM is 2.4G, server is on the clouds, and I'm expecting about 200 connection requests per second.

    I have the following issue: How to set per-script upload_max_filesize limit? I want to set a larger upload max filesize limit for a particular script (action). I know I could use .htaccess, but the problem is that all actions are being dispatched via single index.php file, which likely means for all actions .htaccess rules are the same. So is it possible to set a per-script max_upload_size for a single php script (action)? Hope, you will be able to help me. Thanks in advance.

  • mod_rewrite per-dir redirection returning a 400

    I moved my images directory to a different folder, and now I want to redirect all images requests from that folder to the new one. I do not have access to the main configuraion file, so I'm doing this in a .htaccess. I tried this, and it works:     RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT] But since they have permanently moved, I want to do a proper redirect, so I added the [R] flag, like this:      %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT,R] But the server gets confused, and returns a 400, so I looked at the log file, and this is what happens:     strip per-dir prefix: C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/old_dir/images/banner.jpg - old_dir/images/banner.jpg     applying pattern 'old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$' to uri 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg'     rewrite 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg' - 'images/banner.jpg'     add per-dir prefix: images/banner.jpg - C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg     explicitly forcing redirect with http://localhost/C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg As you can see, the full local path gets added after localhost I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure it out myself.   • Throttle network bandwidth per application in Mac OS X

    I notice that iTunes seems to suck up all my bandwidth and doesn’t play nice with other applications that use the web when it's downloading. In fact, it doesn't even give itself enough bandwidth when browsing the iTunes Store while downloading large or many files (podcasts, TV shows, large apps, etc). I'm not concerned with getting all my downloads as soon as possible, they're really low priority, and I'd rather not have to do this while I'm awake, but I can't hit the refresh button if I'm in bed and forgot it already. Is there an application or tool via the Terminal to limit the download bandwidth that iTunes gets without also hindering web browsers or other applications? FOSS/GPL software is preferable, but pay software might be acceptable too.

  • Sysprep and Capture task sequence failing using MDT 2010

    I have created a Windows Deployment Services server in Windows 2008 R2. When I originally set it up I was able to successfully use MDT 2010 to create my boot images as well as creating task sequences that would sysprep and capture, and deploy my custom .wim files. Everything was working perfectly. About a month later I boot up my Windows 7 x86 image and run Windows updates to keep my image up to date. I then go and run my sysprep and capture task sequence and I get the following errors: I searched online for the cause of this error message and it just seems to be a generic permission denied type of error message. I then decided to completely rebuild my VM image from scratch and try again. I am still getting the same error messages as before. The following is what I have tried troubleshooting this issue: Troubleshooting: I have ensured that that UAC and the firewall is turned completely off when trying to capture the image. I have tried recreating the task sequence and making sure that the deployment share is updated. I have ensured that the local Administrator account is enabled and has the same password as specified in the task sequence. I have tried joining the computer to the domain and running the task sequence and I get a different error: I have attempted to run the script from the command prompt with "Run as Administrator" and I still receive the same errors above. For testing purposes I have ensured that Everyone has read/write access to my deployment share. I have spent days on trying to resolve this to no avail. Any ideas?   • SFTP jail & Keeping file ownership the same / File owner per folder

    I want to setup a jailed SFTP account for a subfolder of another user's home folder, but want the owner of everything in that subfolder to stay the same, including new files and folders uploaded and created by the sftp user, while still allowing access to the files and folders of that subfolder as if the SFTP user was the parent user. rawny bawb-sftp /home/rawny <- rawny owns this /home/rawny/sftp <- rawny owns this too, but bawb-sftp can upload to it, edit files, etc bawb-sftp uploads a file /home/rawny/sftp/lol.txt rawny should still own the file, as if he made it in the first place, even though bawb-sftp was the one that uploaded it. Basically I guess I'm asking for an sftp jail that acts as a highly limited passthrough/puppet for another user?

    Are there any good web server log analysis tools that can provide me with daily statistics on individual URLs? I guess I'm looking at something that can drill down into particular URLs and on particular days rather than just a monthly summary report. The following don't seem to meet my needs as they don't offer drilling down to get more detailed info: awstats analog webalizer (I'm running an nginx frontend into Apache with nginx outputting 'combined' format logfiles if it makes any difference.)

  • Linux SW Raid: whole disk or per-partition?

    I have inherited a machine which has 2 physical disks and uses Linux SW RAID(1). Both disks are partitioned and are are all individual arrays (/dev/md0, /dev/md6, etc.). Those arrays are then mounted (/boot, /home, etc. even /tmp). As RAID is designed to mitigate physical failures, is there any reason why one would use this technique over whole-disk arrays that are then partitioned (perhaps using LVM)? This seems prone to more potential issues, but may have some special properties that I haven't been able to glean. I'm planning on moving this setup to: disks?SWRAID(1)?LVM as I'll be making multiple VMs out of the one machine, but wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing when I got rid of the old setup.

    I am trying to set up my Sonicwall TZ-210 as follows: Two WAN interfaces (different ISPs), set up in failover mode. Two LAN interfaces with different subnets Each LAN subnet will have a preferred outbound WAN interface, but would failover when necessary. In this way, each ISP is being used for a separate subnet of my network, but both subnets could failover to the other ISP if their primary went down. I know how to do 1 and 2, but I don't know how to do 3. I could set up a route for each subnet to go through a specific interface, but what would happen in the event of a failover? Would it automatically update those routes? Thanks!

But it runs some fairly noisy fans 24/7 if it's left on, so I am in the habit of turning the machine off as soon as I'm done with it.   • Program to print gCal or iCal calendars in a monthly one calendar per column format

    I'm moving my family off of using the low tech "Boynton Mom's Family Calendar" to schedule things but I'd like to be able to create a monthly printout of the calendar in the same "Boynton" format (I'm sure it has an official name). The format is kind-of like a spreadsheet where each row of the calendar is a different day of the month and there is a separate column for each person in the family. I have all our calendars on Google but they are also accessible from iCal on the Mac. Is there a Mac program that can get the data from gCal or iCal print out the calendars in the Boynton format?

    I love idea of TextMate that any directory opened in it is already a project. But sometimes I it would be good to ignore files for certain dir and I don't like idea of creating project file in that dir or remembering how I named project file in some special folder like ~/.tmproject. Is there some sort of plugin or something like this which will allow me to ignore files in dir? Perfect solution would be reading .gitignore file.

  • Rate limiting an internet connection per user

    I've got a friend who has a "rent-by-room" property and includes internet access as part of this. However some tenants are somewhat hogging the internet (i.e. constantly downloading). I was wondering if anyone knows of a fairly easy way of rate limiting each connection to make the system more equitable. A preferred solution would be a cheap piece of hardware or some sort of Linux "appliance". I would rather not have to get an iptables headache if this is avoidable.

    Preface: We have caching resolvers at each of our geographic network locations. These are clustered for resiliency and their locality reduces the latency of internal requests generated by our servers. This works well. Except that a vast quantity of the requests seen over the wire are lookups for the same records, generated by applications which don't perform any DNS caching of their own. Questions: Is there a significant benefit to running lightweight caching daemons on the individual servers in order to reduce repeated requests from hitting the network? Does anyone have experience of using [u]nscd, lwresd or dnscache to do such a thing? Are there any other packages worth looking at? Any caveats to beware of? Besides the obvious, caching and negative caching stale results.
