  • Dell Studio 15 Broadcom wireless drivers not working in Linux Mint

    I installed Linux Mint 12 on my Dell Studio 15 and everything worked perfectly up until I tried updating the STA Driver for the Broadcom (BCM4312) wireless controller. I've tried these bash commands in order and I still don't have wireless. sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer I've also tried uninstalling everything with synaptic package manager including broadcom-sta-common and broadcom-sta-source, then restarting and running the above commands which didn't work either. What's the best way to do this on a Dell Studio 15?

    I am connecting to Junos OS on Juniper EX-2200 switches using minicom as shown below minicom -C log_sw1 sw1 Now I have a series of commands that I need to execute on sw1.(example shown below) cli request system zeroize show config show interface edit delete protocols set system arp aging-timer 240 I want to avoid having to type these commands every time I log into the system.I want to put them in a config file and I want the it to be execute every time I log into the switch using minicom.     I have some command-line commands to execute on a Windows machine. The programs I need to run are only available on Windows. Is there a way to easily to do something like I would do with SSH? Example of what I mean: ssh [email protected] "remote command to execute" ...or do I have to Remote Desktop just to do this? (I'd like to run the commands programmatically from another computer rather than running them by hand.)

    How can I specify multiple startup tasks in Conemu? I want to have each task in a separate tab opened on startup. Something like: ConEmu64.exe /cmdlist {Powershell}|{FAR}|{VSConsole} Unfortunately, this command does not support "console scripts" ("Console script are not supported here"). I know, I can create another task, combining the commands of my desired tasks (full commands, because task command does not support console scripts). Is there any other way ?

    How do I pass commands (shell) to a persistent SSH tunnel rather than open a connection for every instance? I have a Python scraper running on a client server which passes URL variables and shell commands to a remote host via a reverse tunnel (forwarded port), so that the URL's are then executed on the host (python fabric ssh localhost:12345 'browser open URL'). I could make the reverse tunnel persistent but how do I echo the url/command to the session? Update - ControlMaster (built into SSH) solves this one.

When Installing Nagios there is an option to run NsClient++, but I went with the WMI Checks because it is agent less. What are the advantages of using NsClient++ for Nagios? Also would calling too many commands through WMI or SSH hinder the performance of the remote host?

    the built in command line ftp client in server 2008 does not support passive mode so I've used these commands to allow outbound ftp (it stalls without this) 1) Open port 21 on the firewall netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (no SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21 2) Activate firewall application filter for FTP (aka Stateful FTP) that will dynamically open ports for data connections netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable however in server 2008 r2, these commands seem to work, but it does not affect the outbound ftp, it stalls I do not want to use an alt client

    I'm working on a cents 6.3 box and am trying to log all commands executed from a bash shell and came across pam_tty_audit. I've added the appropriate line to my /etc/pam.d/system-auth file: "session required pam_tty_audit.so enable=*" The problem is that it does not appear to capture commands unless a user is root. For example, if i ssh in as root it logs everything to the audit log, but if I ssh as a regular user it does not start logging anything until after I have su to root. Any ideas?

    What I need a way to associate a client name or IP address with an open file, so that I can cleanly close the file for maintenance. NET SESSION doesn't show the names of open files and NET FILE doesn't show the client which has the file open. I had hoped that I could cross-reference the data from these two commands, but that doesn't seem doable. Everything else I've see provides the same data as these commands, with no apparent way to determine which client machine has the file open.

For example, to archive files in a given direct, the command is: tar czvf allmyfiles.tar.gz * However, to extract an archive, the command I learned, is: tar -zxvf allmyfiles.tar.gz Looking at both examples above, is there any significance whether to include the hyphen or not?
