• How does Heartbeat determine when to switch to the secondary? Can you force it to switch?

  I've been trying to understand exactly how Heartbeat works - I understand how when one server dies, it switches to the backup. But, for me, it also switches when the primary has a large increase in workload. But, it doesn't always switch at the same value. There doesn't seem to much information on the web about how it works. The best I've found is this article. How does Heartbeat determine when to switch to the secondary, and how does it determine when it switch back to the primary? Is this an editable setting, and can I force it to switch between one and the other? Sometimes when Heartbeat will switch to the secondary, it takes a few days or I've even seen two weeks before it switches back to the primary. This is well after the primary traffic has gone down. I'm currently using BlueOnyx, and my Heartbeat settings are: Auto Failback: on Keepalive: 1 seconds Warntime: 10 seconds Deadtime: 20 seconds Initdead: 30 seconds

Today, I wanted to perform hardware-maintenance on the secondary node (node04), so I stopped the heartbeat service before shutting it down. Then, the primary node (node03) received a shutdown notice from the secondary node (node04). What just happened here??? Heartbeat on node04 stopped and told node03, which was the active node at the time. Somehow, node03 decided to start the cluster processes that were already running. (For the processes that are not critical, I always return a 0 from the startupscript so it does not stops the entire cluster when a non-essential part fails.) When starting ActiveMQ, it returns status 1 because it is already running. This fails the node and shuts everything down. As heartbeat is not running on the secondary node, it cannot failover to there. When I tried to run ha_takeover to restart the resources, absolutely nothing happened. Only after I restarted heartbeat on the primary node the resources could be started (after a delay of 2 minutes). These are my questions: Why does heartbeat on the primary node try to start the cluster processes again? Why did ha_takeover not work? What can I do to prevent this from happening? • How to prevent window list "confusion" when detaching eclipse views?

  I'm detaching eclipse views to float on my other screen in order to get more coding space on the first screen. When doing that, the detached windows appear in ubuntu's window list applet with the eclipse icon but with no title. Then, when pushing the main eclipse button on the window list, one of the detached views will get to front but not the main eclipse window. When using Alt+tab I can also see the extra eclipse icons but choosing the correct one for the main window works and make it the active window while also showing all detached childs. Other applications behave as expected, e.g. gimp floating panels don't show on the windows list and this is also the case with SlickEdit, Firefox child windows all show on window list but gets the focus correctly, etc. I can see the the workspace switcher show my two screens but in 'Monitor preferences' I see my two screens as one big screen. I'm working with ubuntu 10.04.4 under a VMware Workstation 7.1.3 build-324285. 'uname -a' output: Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-40-generic #87-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 6 00:56:56 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux The desktop screen shot with the problem, ununtu's version, and Monitor preferences. How can I solve it and make only the main window show in window list or at least get activated when pushing it's button on the window list?

• MVC Partial View to Call Display Pop-up window using jquery

  Hi I have a index page the renders objects from my database as a treeview, each item has a link href="/MessageGroupType/Edit/1002 that makes an Ajax call to display a partial view in a DIV. Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record. In my Edit partial view i have the following code " type="text/javascript" $(function() { $("#dialog").dialog(); }); <% if (Boolean.Parse(ViewData["DisplayWindow"].ToString())){% This Mesage group Type Cannot be deleted as is linked to other message group Types <% }% So my main questions are Can i make a reference to a javascript script within my Partial View (i dont want my master page to be called on the partial view) When i dynamically load the partial view data into my DIV - can i then after calling my controller insert another DIV into the first DIV.   Using the following JQuery/AJAX function I'm calling a partial view when an option is changed in a combobox named "ReportedIssue" that is also in the partial view. • Change user email in Django without using django-profiles

  Hi guys, In my Django application I would like the user to be able to change the email address. I've seen solution of StackOverflow pointing people to django-profiles. Unfortunately I don't want to use a full fledged profile module to accomplish a tiny feat of changing the users email. Has anyone seen this implemented anywhere. The email address verification procedure by sending a confirmation email is a requisite in this scenario. I've spent a great a deal of time trying to a find a solution that works but to no avail. • Calling a MVC2 partial view using jquery returns empty string problem

  I have an issue where I have a partial view that returns some HTML to be displayed. Its called when something is clicked on the page using jquery. The problem is that no matter how I call it, i get back an empty string even though it reports success. This is happening to me using Chrome, going against my local machine. My controller looks like this: public ActionResult MyPartialView() { return PartialView(model); } I have tried jquery using .get(), .post() and .load() and all have the same results. Here is an example using .post(): $.post(url, function (data) { alert(data); }); The result always comes back as an empty string. I can navigate to the partial view in the browser manually and i get back the desired HTML. The URL I am using to call it I resolved fully so it looks like "http://localhost/controller/mypartialview" rather than using the relative path of "/controller/mypartialview" which I thought was the original problem. Any idea what may cause this?

  I am attempting to create a strongly typed view with a "MVC View User Control" that is being rendered using Html.RenderPartial(). The top of my ascx file looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>" %> There is nothing else on this page, currently. When I execute the app and load the page that renders this control, I get the following error: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>'. So, then I simplified it: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<String>" %> And then, just in case it needed to be fully qualified: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.String>" %> Everytime I get the same error (substituting type). what am I doing wrong here? I'm on .NET 3.5 with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RTM.

The problem is when i click the a href link first time nothing happens, second click on the links gives med two modal dialog and third click gives me three modal dialog and so on...

  Hi Folks Basically for my webapp I'm trying to organise it a bit better. As it at the moment, every time I want to load a page, I have to do it from my controller like so: $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view('The-View-I-Want-To-Load'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); As you can tell it's not really very efficient. So I thought I'd create one 'master' view - It's called template.php. This is the contents of the template view: <?php $view = $data['view']; $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view($view); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); ?> And then I thought I'd be able to call it from a controller like this: $data['view'] = 'homecontent'; $this->load->view('template',$data); Unfortunately I simply cannot make this work. Does anyone have any ways around this or fixes I can put into place? I've tried putting ""s and ''s around $view in template.php but that makes no difference.   Hi there In django, given the following models (slightly simplified), I'm struggling to work out how I would get a view including sums of groups class Client(models.Model): api_key = models.CharField(unique=True, max_length=250, primary_key=True) name = models.CharField(unique=True, max_length=250) class Purchase(models.Model): purchase_date = models.DateTimeField() client = models.ForeignKey(SavedClient, to_field='api_key') amount_to_invoice = models.FloatField(null=True) For a given month, I'd like to see e.g. April 2010 For Each Client that purchased this month: * CLient: Name * Total amount of Purchases for this month * Total cost of purchases for this month For each Purchase made by client: * Date * Amount * Etc I've been looking into django annotation, but can't get my head around how to sum values of a field for a particular group over a particular month and send the information to a template as a variable/tag. • Django - provide additional information in template

  Hi all, I am building an app to learn Django and have started with a Contact system that currently stores Contacts and Addresses. C's are a many to many relationship with A's, but rather than use Django's models.ManyToManyField() I've created my own link-table providing additional information about the link, such as what the address type is to the that contact (home, work etc). What I'm trying to do is pass this information out to a view, so in my full view of a contact I can do this: def contact_view_full(request, contact_id): c = get_object_or_404(Contact, id=contact_id) a = [] links = ContactAddressLink.objects.filter(ContactID=c.id) for link in links: b = Address.objects.get(id=link.AddressID_id) a.append(b) return render_to_response('contact_full.html', {'contact_item': c, 'addresses' : a }, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) And so I can do the equivalent of c.Addresses.all() or however the ManyToManyField works. What I'm interested to know is how can I pass out information about the link in the link object with the 'addresses' : a information, so that when my template does this: {% for address in addresses %} <!-- ... --> {% endfor %} and properly associate the correct link object data with the address. So what's the best way to achieve this? I'm thinking a union of two objects might be an idea but I haven't enough experience with Django to know if that's considered the best way of doing it. • What is causing this OverflowError in Django?

  I'm using a normal ModelForm.save() to create an object, and this exception comes up. It worked fine before until I added commit_manually, transaction.rollback() and transaction.commit() to my view. Has anyone else ran into this? Is this because of sqlite3? • Sort list of items in Django

  Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.
