  • Are there any free Xml Diff/Merge tools available?

    I have several config files in my .net applications which I would like to merge application settings elements etc. I was about to begin doing it manually as I usually do, however thought there must be an XML diff GUI tool available somewhere. The tool would be able to go to the element level to compare and display the differences etc. However Google gave no substantive free tool results and no hints for anything of value. Is such a tool available? That is very useful? For free? Thanks in advance. :) Edit: Here is a bit of clarification of the functionality that would turn my error-prone, tedious manual job into a 1-minute simpler task (and potential to automate): In KDiff3, you can do a diff/merge of entire directories. There is a hierarchical diff which is very accurate, user-friendly and clear. I was interested in finding a similar solution, however instead of directory hierarchy, an XML element hierarchy. If there is no such open source software, I am considering creating one on CodePlex to provide this functionality.

  • Host a IWpfTextView in a custom tool for a Visual Studio Extension

    I'm trying to create a IWpfTextView and then put it into a custom tool window. I can create the view, read a file to populate the ITextBuffer and display the view into my tool. I cannot edit the code at all and the code is not syntax highlighted. What steps am I missing to make this a full fledged editor?   • CSS regression tool?

    I'm looking for a visual regression testing tool for CSS refactoring and see whether or not there are any unintended cascading behavior in a website. Ideally, the tool that can crawl a website (even locally) and grab snapshots of each page and store it in a single repository. When run for the second time, it will show the pages that are visually different since the last time it was run. Even better: if it can show the overlapper XOR view of the 2 version of the page. compare rendering results of different browsers (almost like an automated Microsoft Expression Web compare feature).     I love reStructuredText, however the tools that support it are scattered all over the Internet. The official tool list is incomplete and/or outdated, and can be updated only via commit privileges. For some time there was a comprehensive list at the Wikipedia reStructuredText page, but this apparently "may not meet the notability guideline for web content" and is scheduled for removal. So to put it in a question form: What tool support can one expect to find when working with reStructuredText, e.g. text editors, Wiki software, converters to and from reStructuredText etc.?

  • Effective file permissions tool's api in windows

    Starting from Windows Server 2003, Windows included a new tool which calculates the effective permissions for a user (basically it resolves all groups access and takes care of all "deny" permissions as well). An example in point is that a user A belongs to groups B and C. B has been denied read permissions on a file F, while C has been allowed read and write permissions on the file and I want to calculate the effective permissions user A has on file F. This tool is available on Windows Server 2003,Vista,7 and Server 2008 by right clicking on a file and going to properties - security - advanced - effective permissions. What I need is an API in C# which does the same job. The most common FILE API returns access rules (class FileAccessRules), but there seems to be no direct way to calculate effective permissions from these set of access rules. Note: I do not want to process effective permissions in the code if at all possible, but am ready to do so as a last resort.

    Hello. I need a tool to decompile obfuscated .NET code. Yes, I know about Reflector and its plugins (FileDisassemble, FileGenerator). But they create VS project which won't compile. For an example the decompiled code contains: private sealed class d__0 : IEnumerator, IEnumerator, IDisposable { private int <1__state; private int <2__current; I need a tool which could rename automatically such name into readable (read "compilable") form. Thnx.

  • How to have a PHP Website tool with a version check

    Hi, So I work on a small php website tool that a few people use and what I'm looking to have added is a little version checker in it. The tool is normally hosted by others on different servers/domains/whatever have you so I'm having a bit of a trouble figuring out how I can accomplish this and do so in the best possible method. So what I'm looking to do is have a webpage that just has a number on it which is the latest version. Lets say 3.2.2 is displayed on www.myawesomephptool.com/version.html in some way shape or form . Now on their installation when they open up their admin page it pulls in that 3.2.2 as the latest version to see if they are on that version. So trying to keep it simple on requirements too.   • Tool for parsing smtp logs that finds bounces

    Our web application sends e-mails. We have lots of users, and we get lots of bounces. For example, user changes company and his company e-mail is no longer valid. To find bounces, I parse smtp log file with log parser. Some bounces are great, like 550+#[email protected]. There is [email protected] in bounce. But some do not have e-mail in error message, like 550+No+such+recipient. I have created simple ruby script that parses logs (uses log parser) to find which mail caused something like 550+No+such+recipient. I am just surprised that I could not find a tool that does it. I have found tools like zabbix and splunk for log analysis, but they look like overkill for such simple task. Anybody knows a tool that would parse smtp logs, find bounces and e-mails that cause them? Edit: smtp server is microsoft smtp server.

  • A tool to find and fix incomplete source code documentation

    I have several finished, older PHP projects with a lot of includes that I would like to document in javadoc/phpDocumentor style. While working through each file manually and being forced to do a code review alongside the documenting would be the best thing, I am, simply out of time constraints, interested in tools to help me automate the task as much as possible. The tool I am thinking about would ideally have the following features: Parse a PHP project tree and tell me where there are undocumented files, classes, and functions/methods (i.e. elements missing the appropriate docblock comment) Provide a method to half-way easily add the missing docblocks by creating the empty structures and, ideally, opening the file in an editor (internal or external I don't care) so I can put in the description. Optional: Automatic recognition of parameter types, return values and such. But that's not really required. The language in question is PHP, though I could imagine that a C/Java tool might be able to handle PHP files after some tweaking. Thanks for your great input!

  • problem with adding tool bar to UITableView

    I'm writing a Navigation-Based iPhone app, and I'd like to have a UIToolBar docked at the bottom of my screen, with a UITableView scrolling between the tool bar and the navigation bar. I used [[self navigationController] setToolbarHidden:NO] and - (void)setToolbarItems:(NSArray *)toolbarItems animated:(BOOL)animated to set the UIToolBar. UIToolBar correctly shows in current view. If I drill down into a detail view using the button on navigation bar, i cannot return back to previous view. Before I add the tool bar, it can return back. I am wondering is there anything else should be noted when use UIToolbar?
