    - by Dave18
    I can't get it to work correctly. #include <windows.h> int main() { DWORD i = 6521; BYTE first = i >> 32; BYTE second = i >> 24; BYTE third = i >> 16; BYTE fourth = i >> 8; i = (((DWORD)fourth) << 24) | (((DWORD)third) << 16) | (((DWORD)second) << 8) | first; }

  • how to use ByteArrayOutputStream and DataOutputStream simultaneously (Java)

    - by Manuel
    Hi! I'm having quite a problem here, and I think it is because I don't understand very much how I should use the API provided by Java. I need to write an int and a byte[] into a byte[] I thought of using a DataOutputStream to solve the data writing with writeInt(int i) and write(byte[] b), and to be able to put that into a byte array, I should use ByteArrayOutputStream's method toByteArray(). I understand that this classes use the Wrapper pattern, so I had two options: DataOutputStream w = new DataOutputStream(new ByteArrayOutputStream()); or ByteArrayOutputStream w = new ByteArrayOutputStream(new DataOutputStream()); but in both cases, I "loose" a method. in the first case, I can't access the toByteArray method, and in the second, I can't access the writeInt method. How should I use this classes together?

  • Sending Images over Sockets in C

    - by Takkun
    I'm trying to send an image file through a TCP socket in C, but the image isn't being reassembled correctly on the server side. I was wondering if anyone can point out the mistake? I know that the server is receiving the correct file size and it constructs a file of that size, but it isn't an image file. Client //Get Picture Size printf("Getting Picture Size\n"); FILE *picture; picture = fopen(argv[1], "r"); int size; fseek(picture, 0, SEEK_END); size = ftell(picture); //Send Picture Size printf("Sending Picture Size\n"); write(sock, &size, sizeof(size)); //Send Picture as Byte Array printf("Sending Picture as Byte Array\n"); char send_buffer[size]; while(!feof(picture)) { fread(send_buffer, 1, sizeof(send_buffer), picture); write(sock, send_buffer, sizeof(send_buffer)); bzero(send_buffer, sizeof(send_buffer)); } Server //Read Picture Size printf("Reading Picture Size\n"); int size; read(new_sock, &size, sizeof(1)); //Read Picture Byte Array printf("Reading Picture Byte Array\n"); char p_array[size]; read(new_sock, p_array, size); //Convert it Back into Picture printf("Converting Byte Array to Picture\n"); FILE *image; image = fopen("c1.png", "w"); fwrite(p_array, 1, sizeof(p_array), image); fclose(image);

  • How do I convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes in Java?

    - by user1795595
    I'm creating a method specific method for a java project i'm working on. The UML given specifies the return type to be of static byte[] that accepts the arguments (String, byte) So far, looks like this: public static byte[] convertNumToDigitArray(String number, byte numDigits) { } This method is supposed to convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes. The ordering must go from most to least significant digits. For example, if the number String is “732” then index 0 of the array should contain 7. The last argument (numDigits) should match the length of the string passed in. How do I do this?

    - by user543265
    what is the meqaning of pData[1+2*i]<<8|pData[2+2*i] where pData[ ] is the array containing BYTE data? I have the following function in the main function { .......... .... BYTE Receivebuff[2048]; .. ReceiveWavePacket(&Receivebuff[i], nNextStep); .... ... .. } Where Receivebuff is the array of type BYTE. ReceiveWavePacket(BYTE * pData, UINT nSize) { CString strTest; for(int i = 0 ; i < 60 ; i++) { strTest.Format("%d\n",(USHORT)(pData[1+2*i]<<8|pData[2+2*i])); m_edStatData.SetWindowTextA(strTest); } } I want to know the meaning of ",(USHORT)(pData[1+2*i]<<8|pData[2+2*i]). Can any body please help me?

  • Optimizing Solaris 11 SHA-1 on Intel Processors

    - by danx
    SHA-1 is a "hash" or "digest" operation that produces a 160 bit (20 byte) checksum value on arbitrary data, such as a file. It is intended to uniquely identify text and to verify it hasn't been modified. Max Locktyukhin and others at Intel have improved the performance of the SHA-1 digest algorithm using multiple techniques. This code has been incorporated into Solaris 11 and is available in the Solaris Crypto Framework via the libmd(3LIB), the industry-standard libpkcs11(3LIB) library, and Solaris kernel module sha1. The optimized code is used automatically on systems with a x86 CPU supporting SSSE3 (Intel Supplemental SSSE3). Intel microprocessor architectures that support SSSE3 include Nehalem, Westmere, Sandy Bridge microprocessor families. Further optimizations are available for microprocessors that support AVX (such as Sandy Bridge). Although SHA-1 is considered obsolete because of weaknesses found in the SHA-1 algorithm—NIST recommends using at least SHA-256, SHA-1 is still widely used and will be with us for awhile more. Collisions (the same SHA-1 result for two different inputs) can be found with moderate effort. SHA-1 is used heavily though in SSL/TLS, for example. And SHA-1 is stronger than the older MD5 digest algorithm, another digest option defined in SSL/TLS. Optimizations Review SHA-1 operates by reading an arbitrary amount of data. The data is read in 512 bit (64 byte) blocks (the last block is padded in a specific way to ensure it's a full 64 bytes). Each 64 byte block has 80 "rounds" of calculations (consisting of a mixture of "ROTATE-LEFT", "AND", and "XOR") applied to the block. Each round produces a 32-bit intermediate result, called W[i]. Here's what each round operates: The first 16 rounds, rounds 0 to 15, read the 512 bit block 32 bits at-a-time. These 32 bits is used as input to the round. The remaining rounds, rounds 16 to 79, use the results from the previous rounds as input. Specifically for round i it XORs the results of rounds i-3, i-8, i-14, and i-16 and rotates the result left 1 bit. The remaining calculations for the round is a series of AND, XOR, and ROTATE-LEFT operators on the 32-bit input and some constants. The 32-bit result is saved as W[i] for round i. The 32-bit result of the final round, W[79], is the SHA-1 checksum. Optimization: Vectorization The first 16 rounds can be vectorized (computed in parallel) because they don't depend on the output of a previous round. As for the remaining rounds, because of step 2 above, computing round i depends on the results of round i-3, W[i-3], one can vectorize 3 rounds at-a-time. Max Locktyukhin found through simple factoring, explained in detail in his article referenced below, that the dependencies of round i on the results of rounds i-3, i-8, i-14, and i-16 can be replaced instead with dependencies on the results of rounds i-6, i-16, i-28, and i-32. That is, instead of initializing intermediate result W[i] with: W[i] = (W[i-3] XOR W[i-8] XOR W[i-14] XOR W[i-16]) ROTATE-LEFT 1 Initialize W[i] as follows: W[i] = (W[i-6] XOR W[i-16] XOR W[i-28] XOR W[i-32]) ROTATE-LEFT 2 That means that 6 rounds could be vectorized at once, with no additional calculations, instead of just 3! This optimization is independent of Intel or any other microprocessor architecture, although the microprocessor has to support vectorization to use it, and exploits one of the weaknesses of SHA-1. Optimization: SSSE3 Intel SSSE3 makes use of 16 %xmm registers, each 128 bits wide. The 4 32-bit inputs to a round, W[i-6], W[i-16], W[i-28], W[i-32], all fit in one %xmm register. The following code snippet, from Max Locktyukhin's article, converted to ATT assembly syntax, computes 4 rounds in parallel with just a dozen or so SSSE3 instructions: movdqa W_minus_04, W_TMP pxor W_minus_28, W // W equals W[i-32:i-29] before XOR // W = W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25] palignr $8, W_minus_08, W_TMP // W_TMP = W[i-6:i-3], combined from // W[i-4:i-1] and W[i-8:i-5] vectors pxor W_minus_16, W // W = (W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25]) ^ W[i-16:i-13] pxor W_TMP, W // W = (W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25] ^ W[i-16:i-13]) ^ W[i-6:i-3]) movdqa W, W_TMP // 4 dwords in W are rotated left by 2 psrld $30, W // rotate left by 2 W = (W >> 30) | (W << 2) pslld $2, W_TMP por W, W_TMP movdqa W_TMP, W // four new W values W[i:i+3] are now calculated paddd (K_XMM), W_TMP // adding 4 current round's values of K movdqa W_TMP, (WK(i)) // storing for downstream GPR instructions to read A window of the 32 previous results, W[i-1] to W[i-32] is saved in memory on the stack. This is best illustrated with a chart. Without vectorization, computing the rounds is like this (each "R" represents 1 round of SHA-1 computation): RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR With vectorization, 4 rounds can be computed in parallel: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Optimization: AVX The new "Sandy Bridge" microprocessor architecture, which supports AVX, allows another interesting optimization. SSSE3 instructions have two operands, a input and an output. AVX allows three operands, two inputs and an output. In many cases two SSSE3 instructions can be combined into one AVX instruction. The difference is best illustrated with an example. Consider these two instructions from the snippet above: pxor W_minus_16, W // W = (W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25]) ^ W[i-16:i-13] pxor W_TMP, W // W = (W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25] ^ W[i-16:i-13]) ^ W[i-6:i-3]) With AVX they can be combined in one instruction: vpxor W_minus_16, W, W_TMP // W = (W[i-32:i-29] ^ W[i-28:i-25] ^ W[i-16:i-13]) ^ W[i-6:i-3]) This optimization is also in Solaris, although Sandy Bridge-based systems aren't widely available yet. As an exercise for the reader, AVX also has 256-bit media registers, %ymm0 - %ymm15 (a superset of 128-bit %xmm0 - %xmm15). Can %ymm registers be used to parallelize the code even more? Optimization: Solaris-specific In addition to using the Intel code described above, I performed other minor optimizations to the Solaris SHA-1 code: Increased the digest(1) and mac(1) command's buffer size from 4K to 64K, as previously done for decrypt(1) and encrypt(1). This size is well suited for ZFS file systems, but helps for other file systems as well. Optimized encode functions, which byte swap the input and output data, to copy/byte-swap 4 or 8 bytes at-a-time instead of 1 byte-at-a-time. Enhanced the Solaris mdb(1) and kmdb(1) debuggers to display all 16 %xmm and %ymm registers (mdb "$x" command). Previously they only displayed the first 8 that are available in 32-bit mode. Can't optimize if you can't debug :-). Changed the SHA-1 code to allow processing in "chunks" greater than 2 Gigabytes (64-bits) Performance I measured performance on a Sun Ultra 27 (which has a Nehalem-class Xeon 5500 Intel W3570 microprocessor @3.2GHz). Turbo mode is disabled for consistent performance measurement. Graphs are better than words and numbers, so here they are: The first graph shows the Solaris digest(1) command before and after the optimizations discussed here, contained in libmd(3LIB). I ran the digest command on a half GByte file in swapfs (/tmp) and execution time decreased from 1.35 seconds to 0.98 seconds. The second graph shows the the results of an internal microbenchmark that uses the Solaris libpkcs11(3LIB) library. The operations are on a 128 byte buffer with 10,000 iterations. The results show operations increased from 320,000 to 416,000 operations per second. Finally the third graph shows the results of an internal kernel microbenchmark that uses the Solaris /kernel/crypto/amd64/sha1 module. The operations are on a 64Kbyte buffer with 100 iterations. third graph shows the results of an internal kernel microbenchmark that uses the Solaris /kernel/crypto/amd64/sha1 module. The operations are on a 64Kbyte buffer with 100 iterations. The results show for 1 kernel thread, operations increased from 410 to 600 MBytes/second. For 8 kernel threads, operations increase from 1540 to 1940 MBytes/second. Availability This code is in Solaris 11 FCS. It is available in the 64-bit libmd(3LIB) library for 64-bit programs and is in the Solaris kernel. You must be running hardware that supports Intel's SSSE3 instructions (for example, Intel Nehalem, Westmere, or Sandy Bridge microprocessor architectures). The easiest way to determine if SSSE3 is available is with the isainfo(1) command. For example, nehalem $ isainfo -v $ isainfo -v 64-bit amd64 applications sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp ahf cx16 sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov amd_sysc cx8 tsc fpu 32-bit i386 applications sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp ahf cx16 sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov sep cx8 tsc fpu If the output also shows "avx", the Solaris executes the even-more optimized 3-operand AVX instructions for SHA-1 mentioned above: sandybridge $ isainfo -v 64-bit amd64 applications avx xsave pclmulqdq aes sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp ahf cx16 sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov amd_sysc cx8 tsc fpu 32-bit i386 applications avx xsave pclmulqdq aes sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp ahf cx16 sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov sep cx8 tsc fpu No special configuration or setup is needed to take advantage of this code. Solaris libraries and kernel automatically determine if it's running on SSSE3 or AVX-capable machines and execute the correctly-tuned code for that microprocessor. Summary The Solaris 11 Crypto Framework, via the sha1 kernel module and libmd(3LIB) and libpkcs11(3LIB) libraries, incorporated a useful SHA-1 optimization from Intel for SSSE3-capable microprocessors. As with other Solaris optimizations, they come automatically "under the hood" with the current Solaris release. • How to deal with MySQL Connector/ODBC error "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'"

    - by user12653020
    I am sure many users run into a mysterious problem when perfectly working ODBC configurations started failing with errors like: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' The above error message might be preceded with something like [nxDc[yQ]. At the same time odbc.ini specifies in its DSN different SOCKET=/tmp/mysql.sock or a TCP connection SERVER=<remote_host_or_ip>. The question is, what had happened that the ODBC driver started to ignore the DSN options? The clue lies in the corrupted string [nxDc[yQ], which actually was [UnixODBC][MySQL] with each 2nd symbol removed. This is the case of bad conversion from SQLCHAR to SQLWCHAR. The UnixODBC driver manager took a single-byte character string from the client application and tried to convert it into the wide (multi-byte) characters for the Unicode version of MyODBC driver: Initially the piece of the connection string was represented by 1-byte chars like: [S][E][R][V][E][R][=][m][y][h][o][s][t][;] after the bad conversion to wide chars (commonly 2-byte UTF-16) [SE][RV][ER][=m][yh][os][t;] instead of [S\0][E\0][R\0][V\0][E\0][R\0][=\0][m\0][y\0][h\0][o\0][s\0][t\0][;\0] Naturally, the MyODBC driver could not parse the bad string and tried to use the default connection type (SOCKET) with the default value (/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock) Now we know what happened, but why it happened? In most cases it happened because of using ODBCManageDataSourcesQ4 utility or its older analog ODBCConfig. When registering ODBC drivers they put lots of additional options and one of these options badly affects the UnixODBC driver manager itself. The solution is simple - remove or comment out the option in odbcinst.ini file (it is empty by default) set for the driver: [MySQL ODBC 5.2.6 Driver] Description    = Driver         = /home/dbs/myodbc526/lib/libmyodbc5w.so Driver64       = /home/dbs/myodbc526/lib/libmyodbc5w.so Setup          = /home/dbs/myodbc526/lib/libmyodbc5S.so Setup64        = /home/dbs/myodbc526/lib/libmyodbc5S.so UsageCount     = 1 CPTimeout      = 0 CPTimeToLive   = 0 IconvEncoding  =  # <--------- remove this line Trace          = TraceFile      = TraceLibrary   = After applying this simple solution (remove the line with IconvEncoding = ) everything came to normal. Prior to removing that line I tried putting different encoding names there, but the result was not good, so I really don't know how to properly use it. Unfortunately, UnixODBC manuals say nothing about it. Therefore, removing this option was the only way to get things done.

  • Google Chrome - Issues with download dialogs using BinaryWrite

    - by Mila
    Hello, I have an empty ASP .NET page with the code behind to support downloading of PDF files. The page is called from a link-like web control that has NavigateUrl set to this page. In short, I am using the following for streaming: Response.Buffer = false; Response.ClearHeaders(); Response.ContentType = "application/x-pdf"; Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename="MyPDFFile.pdf"); byte[] binary = (dataReaderRemote[DataPDFFieldName]) as byte[]; //dataReaderRemote[DataPDFFieldName] has previously retrieved data if (binary != null) { MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(binary); int sizeToWrite = CHUNKSIZE; //CHUNKSIZE=1024 for (int i = 0; i < binary.GetUpperBound(0) - 1; i = i + CHUNKSIZE) { if (!Response.IsClientConnected) return; if (i + CHUNKSIZE >= binary.Length) sizeToWrite = binary.Length - i; byte[] chunk = new byte[sizeToWrite]; memoryStream.Read(chunk, 0, sizeToWrite); Response.BinaryWrite(chunk); Response.Flush(); } } Response.Close(); IE as well as Firefox bring the download prompt window asking you whether you wish to open or save the file, while the user remains on the same page containing the link. However, Google Chrome opens a new blank tab and downloads the file automatically. Is there any way to prevent Chrome from opening the extra blank and therefore useless tab? I am using the Google Chrome version 5.0.375.55 (Official Build 47796) on Windows XP. Thanks in advance! Mila

  • Java Port Socket Programming Error

    - by atrus-darkstone
    Hi- I have been working on a java client-server program using port sockets. The goal of this program is for the client to take a screenshot of the machine it is running on, break the RGB info of this image down into integers and arrays, then send this info over to the server, where it is reconstructed into a new image file. However, when I run the program I am experiencing the following two bugs: The first number recieved by the server, no matter what its value is according to the client, is always 49. The client only sends(or the server only receives?) the first value, then the program hangs forever. Any ideas as to why this is happening, and what I can do to fix it? The code for both client and server is below. Thanks! One of the challenges recently thrown my way was to read an EBCDIC flat file, decode packed dates, and insert the dates into a SQL table.  For those unfamiliar with packed data, it is a way to store data at the nibble level (half a byte), and was often used by mainframe programmers to conserve storage space.  In the case of my input file, the dates were 2 bytes long and  represented the number of days that have past since 01/01/1950.  My first thought was, in the words of Scooby, Hmmmmph?  But, I love a good challenge, so I dove in. Reading in the flat file was rather simple.  The only difference between reading an EBCDIC and an ASCII file is the Code Page option in the connection manager.  In my case, I needed to use Code Page 1140 for EBCDIC (I could have also used Code Page 37).       Once the code page is set correctly, SSIS can understand what it is reading and it will convert the output to the default code page, 1252.  However, packed data is either unreadable or produces non-alphabetic characters, as we can see in the preview window.   Column 1 is actually the packed date, columns 0 and 2 are the values in the rest of the file.  We are only interested in Column 1, which is a 2 byte field representing a packed date.  We know that 2 bytes of packed data can be stored in 1 byte of character data, so we are working with 4 packed digits in 2 character bytes.  If you are confused, stay tuned….this will make sense in a minute.   Right-click on your Flat File Source shape and select “Show Advanced Editor”. Here is where the magic begins. By changing the properties of the output columns, we can access the packed digits from each byte. By default, the Output Column data type is DT_STR. Since we want to look at the bytes individually and not the entire string, change the data type to DT_BYTES. Next, and most important, set UseBinaryFormat to TRUE. This will write the HEX VALUES of the output string instead of writing the character values.  Now we are getting somewhere! Next, you will need to use a Data Conversion shape in your Data Flow to transform the 2 position byte stream to a 4 position Unicode string containing the packed data.  You need the string to be 4 bytes long because it will contain the 4 packed digits.  Here is what that should look like in the Data Conversion shape: Direct the output of your data flow to a test table or file to see the results.  In my case, I created a test table.  The results looked like this:     Hold on a second!  That doesn't look like a date at all.  No, of course not.  It is a hex number which represents the days which have passed between 01/01/1950 and the date.  We have to convert the Hex value to a decimal value, and use the DATEADD function to get a date value.  Luckily, I have created a function to convert Hex to Decimal:   -- ============================================= -- Author:        Jim Giercyk -- Create date: March, 2012 -- Description:    Converts a Hex string to a decimal value -- ============================================= CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[ftn_HexToDec] (     @hexValue NVARCHAR(6) ) RETURNS DECIMAL AS BEGIN     -- Declare the return variable here DECLARE @decValue DECIMAL IF @hexValue LIKE '0x%' SET @hexValue = SUBSTRING(@hexValue,3,4) DECLARE @decTab TABLE ( decPos1 VARCHAR(2), decPos2 VARCHAR(2), decPos3 VARCHAR(2), decPos4 VARCHAR(2) ) DECLARE @pos1 VARCHAR(1) = SUBSTRING(@hexValue,1,1) DECLARE @pos2 VARCHAR(1) = SUBSTRING(@hexValue,2,1) DECLARE @pos3 VARCHAR(1) = SUBSTRING(@hexValue,3,1) DECLARE @pos4 VARCHAR(1) = SUBSTRING(@hexValue,4,1) INSERT @decTab VALUES (CASE               WHEN @pos1 = 'A' THEN '10'                 WHEN @pos1 = 'B' THEN '11'               WHEN @pos1 = 'C' THEN '12'               WHEN @pos1 = 'D' THEN '13'               WHEN @pos1 = 'E' THEN '14'               WHEN @pos1 = 'F' THEN '15'               ELSE @pos1              END, CASE               WHEN @pos2 = 'A' THEN '10'                 WHEN @pos2 = 'B' THEN '11'               WHEN @pos2 = 'C' THEN '12'               WHEN @pos2 = 'D' THEN '13'               WHEN @pos2 = 'E' THEN '14'               WHEN @pos2 = 'F' THEN '15'               ELSE @pos2              END, CASE               WHEN @pos3 = 'A' THEN '10'                 WHEN @pos3 = 'B' THEN '11'               WHEN @pos3 = 'C' THEN '12'               WHEN @pos3 = 'D' THEN '13'               WHEN @pos3 = 'E' THEN '14'               WHEN @pos3 = 'F' THEN '15'               ELSE @pos3              END, CASE               WHEN @pos4 = 'A' THEN '10'                 WHEN @pos4 = 'B' THEN '11'               WHEN @pos4 = 'C' THEN '12'               WHEN @pos4 = 'D' THEN '13'               WHEN @pos4 = 'E' THEN '14'               WHEN @pos4 = 'F' THEN '15'               ELSE @pos4              END) SET @decValue = (CONVERT(INT,(SELECT decPos4 FROM @decTab)))         +                 (CONVERT(INT,(SELECT decPos3 FROM @decTab))*16)      +                 (CONVERT(INT,(SELECT decPos2 FROM @decTab))*(16*16)) +                 (CONVERT(INT,(SELECT decPos1 FROM @decTab))*(16*16*16))     RETURN @decValue END GO     Making use of the function, I found the decimal conversion, added that number of days to 01/01/1950 and FINALLY arrived at my “unpacked relative date”.  Here is the query I used to retrieve the formatted date, and the result set which was returned: SELECT [packedDate] AS 'Hex Value',        dbo.ftn_HexToDec([packedDate]) AS 'Decimal Value',        CONVERT(DATE,DATEADD(day,dbo.ftn_HexToDec([packedDate]),'01/01/1950'),101) AS 'Relative String Date'   FROM [dbo].[Output Table]         This technique can be used any time you need to retrieve the hex value of a character string in SSIS.  The date example may be a bit difficult to understand at first, but with SSIS becoming the preferred tool for enterprise level integration for many companies, there is no doubt that developers will encounter these types of requirements with regularity in the future. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

  • How to match ColdFusion encryption with Java 1.4.2?

    - by JohnTheBarber
    * sweet - thanks to Edward Smith for the CF Technote that indicated the key from ColdFusion was Base64 encoded. See generateKey() for the 'fix' My task is to use Java 1.4.2 to match the results a given ColdFusion code sample for encryption. Known/given values: A 24-byte key A 16-byte salt (IVorSalt) Encoding is Hex Encryption algorithm is AES/CBC/PKCS5Padding A sample clear-text value The encrypted value of the sample clear-text after going through the ColdFusion code Assumptions: Number of iterations not specified in the ColdFusion code so I assume only one iteration 24-byte key so I assume 192-bit encryption Given/working ColdFusion encryption code sample: <cfset ThisSalt = "16byte-salt-here"> <cfset ThisAlgorithm = "AES/CBC/PKCS5Padding"> <cfset ThisKey = "a-24byte-key-string-here"> <cfset thisAdjustedNow = now()> <cfset ThisDateTimeVar = DateFormat( thisAdjustedNow , "yyyymmdd" )> <cfset ThisDateTimeVar = ThisDateTimeVar & TimeFormat( thisAdjustedNow , "HHmmss" )> <cfset ThisTAID = ThisDateTimeVar & "|" & someOtherData> <cfset ThisTAIDEnc = Encrypt( ThisTAID , ThisKey , ThisAlgorithm , "Hex" , ThisSalt)> My Java 1.4.2 encryption/decryption code swag: package so.example; import java.security.*; import javax.crypto.Cipher; import javax.crypto.spec.IvParameterSpec; import javax.crypto.spec.SecretKeySpec; import org.apache.commons.codec.binary.*; public class SO_AES192 { private static final String _AES = "AES"; private static final String _AES_CBC_PKCS5Padding = "AES/CBC/PKCS5Padding"; private static final String KEY_VALUE = "a-24byte-key-string-here"; private static final String SALT_VALUE = "16byte-salt-here"; private static final int ITERATIONS = 1; private static IvParameterSpec ivParameterSpec; public static String encryptHex(String value) throws Exception { Key key = generateKey(); Cipher c = Cipher.getInstance(_AES_CBC_PKCS5Padding); ivParameterSpec = new IvParameterSpec(SALT_VALUE.getBytes()); c.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, key, ivParameterSpec); String valueToEncrypt = null; String eValue = value; for (int i = 0; i < ITERATIONS; i++) { // valueToEncrypt = SALT_VALUE + eValue; // pre-pend salt - Length > sample length valueToEncrypt = eValue; // don't pre-pend salt Length = sample length byte[] encValue = c.doFinal(valueToEncrypt.getBytes()); eValue = Hex.encodeHexString(encValue); } return eValue; } public static String decryptHex(String value) throws Exception { Key key = generateKey(); Cipher c = Cipher.getInstance(_AES_CBC_PKCS5Padding); ivParameterSpec = new IvParameterSpec(SALT_VALUE.getBytes()); c.init(Cipher.DECRYPT_MODE, key, ivParameterSpec); String dValue = null; char[] valueToDecrypt = value.toCharArray(); for (int i = 0; i < ITERATIONS; i++) { byte[] decordedValue = Hex.decodeHex(valueToDecrypt); byte[] decValue = c.doFinal(decordedValue); // dValue = new String(decValue).substring(SALT_VALUE.length()); // when salt is pre-pended dValue = new String(decValue); // when salt is not pre-pended valueToDecrypt = dValue.toCharArray(); } return dValue; } private static Key generateKey() throws Exception { // Key key = new SecretKeySpec(KEY_VALUE.getBytes(), _AES); // this was wrong Key key = new SecretKeySpec(new BASE64Decoder().decodeBuffer(keyValueString), _AES); // had to un-Base64 the 'known' 24-byte key. return key; } } I cannot create a matching encrypted value nor decrypt a given encrypted value. My guess is it's something to do with how I'm handling the initial vector/salt. I'm not very crypto-savvy but I'm thinking I should be able to take the sample clear-text and produce the same encrypted value in Java as ColdFusion produced. I am able to encrypt/decrypt my own data with my Java code (so I'm consistent) but I cannot match nor decrypt the ColdFusion sample encrypted value. I have access to a local webservice that can test the encrypted output. The given ColdFusion output sample passes/decrypts fine (of course). If I try to decrypt the same sample with my Java code (using the actual key and salt) I get a "Given final block not properly padded" error. I get the same net result when I pass my attempt at encryption (using the actual key and salt) to the test webservice. Any Ideas?

  • How to compare a memory bits in C++?

    - by Trunet
    Hi, I need help with a memory bit comparison function. I bought a LED Matrix here with 4 x HT1632C chips and I'm using it on my arduino mega2560. There're no code available for this chipset(it's not the same as HT1632) and I'm writing on my own. I have a plot function that get x,y coordinates and a color and that pixel turn on. Only this is working perfectly. But I need more performance on my display so I tried to make a shadowRam variable that is a "copy" of my device memory. Before I plot anything on display it checks on shadowRam to see if it's really necessary to change that pixel. When I enabled this(getShadowRam) on plot function my display has some, just SOME(like 3 or 4 on entire display) ghost pixels(pixels that is not supposed to be turned on). If I just comment the prev_color if's on my plot function it works perfectly. Also, I'm cleaning my shadowRam array setting all matrix to zero. variables: #define BLACK 0 #define GREEN 1 #define RED 2 #define ORANGE 3 #define CHIP_MAX 8 byte shadowRam[63][CHIP_MAX-1] = {0}; getShadowRam function: byte HT1632C::getShadowRam(byte x, byte y) { byte addr, bitval, nChip; if (x>=32) { nChip = 3 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } else { nChip = 1 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } bitval = 8>>(y&3); x = x % 16; y = y % 8; addr = (x<<1) + (y>>2); if ((shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] & bitval) && (shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] & bitval)) { return ORANGE; } else if (shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] & bitval) { return GREEN; } else if (shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] & bitval) { return RED; } else { return BLACK; } } plot function: void HT1632C::plot (int x, int y, int color) { if (x<0 || x>X_MAX || y<0 || y>Y_MAX) return; if (color != BLACK && color != GREEN && color != RED && color != ORANGE) return; char addr, bitval; byte nChip; byte prev_color = HT1632C::getShadowRam(x,y); bitval = 8>>(y&3); if (x>=32) { nChip = 3 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } else { nChip = 1 + x/16 + (y>7?2:0); } x = x % 16; y = y % 8; addr = (x<<1) + (y>>2); switch(color) { case BLACK: if (prev_color != BLACK) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // clear the bit in both planes; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case GREEN: if (prev_color != GREEN) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // set the bit in the green plane and clear the bit in the red plane; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case RED: if (prev_color != RED) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // clear the bit in green plane and set the bit in the red plane; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] &= ~bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; case ORANGE: if (prev_color != ORANGE) { // compare with memory to only set if pixel is other color // set the bit in both the green and red planes; shadowRam[addr][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr, shadowRam[addr][nChip-1]); shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1] |= bitval; HT1632C::sendData(nChip, addr+32, shadowRam[addr+32][nChip-1]); } break; } } If helps: The datasheet of board I'm using. On page 7 has the memory mapping I'm using. Also, I have a video of display working.

  • Using C# to detect whether a filename character is considered international

    - by Morten Mertner
    I've written a small console application (source below) to locate and optionally rename files containing international characters, as they are a source of constant pain with most source control systems (some background on this below). The code I'm using has a simple dictionary with characters to look for and replace (and nukes every other character that uses more than one byte of storage), but it feels very hackish. What's the right way to (a) find out whether a character is international? and (b) what the best ASCII substitution character would be? Let me provide some background information on why this is needed. It so happens that the danish Å character has two different encodings in UTF-8, both representing the same symbol. These are known as NFC and NFD encodings. Windows and Linux will create NFC encoding by default but respect whatever encoding it is given. Mac will convert all names (when saving to a HFS+ partition) to NFD and therefore returns a different byte stream for the name of a file created on Windows. This effectively breaks Subversion, Git and lots of other utilities that don't care to properly handle this scenario. I'm currently evaluating Mercurial, which turns out to be even worse at handling international characters.. being fairly tired of these problems, either source control or the international character would have to go, and so here we are. My current implementation: public class Checker { private Dictionary<char, string> internationals = new Dictionary<char, string>(); private List<char> keep = new List<char>(); private List<char> seen = new List<char>(); public Checker() { internationals.Add( 'æ', "ae" ); internationals.Add( 'ø', "oe" ); internationals.Add( 'å', "aa" ); internationals.Add( 'Æ', "Ae" ); internationals.Add( 'Ø', "Oe" ); internationals.Add( 'Å', "Aa" ); internationals.Add( 'ö', "o" ); internationals.Add( 'ü', "u" ); internationals.Add( 'ä', "a" ); internationals.Add( 'é', "e" ); internationals.Add( 'è', "e" ); internationals.Add( 'ê', "e" ); internationals.Add( '¦', "" ); internationals.Add( 'Ã', "" ); internationals.Add( '©', "" ); internationals.Add( ' ', "" ); internationals.Add( '§', "" ); internationals.Add( '¡', "" ); internationals.Add( '³', "" ); internationals.Add( '', "" ); internationals.Add( 'º', "" ); internationals.Add( '«', "-" ); internationals.Add( '»', "-" ); internationals.Add( '´', "'" ); internationals.Add( '`', "'" ); internationals.Add( '"', "'" ); internationals.Add( Encoding.UTF8.GetString( new byte[] { 226, 128, 147 } )[ 0 ], "-" ); internationals.Add( Encoding.UTF8.GetString( new byte[] { 226, 128, 148 } )[ 0 ], "-" ); internationals.Add( Encoding.UTF8.GetString( new byte[] { 226, 128, 153 } )[ 0 ], "'" ); internationals.Add( Encoding.UTF8.GetString( new byte[] { 226, 128, 166 } )[ 0 ], "." ); keep.Add( '-' ); keep.Add( '=' ); keep.Add( '\'' ); keep.Add( '.' ); } public bool IsInternationalCharacter( char c ) { var s = c.ToString(); byte[] bytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes( s ); if( bytes.Length > 1 && ! internationals.ContainsKey( c ) && ! seen.Contains( c ) ) { Console.WriteLine( "X '{0}' ({1})", c, string.Join( ",", bytes ) ); seen.Add( c ); if( ! keep.Contains( c ) ) { internationals[ c ] = ""; } } return internationals.ContainsKey( c ); } public bool HasInternationalCharactersInName( string name, out string safeName ) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); Array.ForEach( name.ToCharArray(), c => sb.Append( IsInternationalCharacter( c ) ? internationals[ c ] : c.ToString() ) ); int length = sb.Length; sb.Replace( " ", " " ); while( sb.Length != length ) { sb.Replace( " ", " " ); } safeName = sb.ToString().Trim(); string namePart = Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension( safeName ); if( namePart.EndsWith( "." ) ) safeName = namePart.Substring( 0, namePart.Length - 1 ) + Path.GetExtension( safeName ); return name != safeName; } } And this would be invoked like this: FileInfo file = new File( "Århus.txt" ); string safeName; if( checker.HasInternationalCharactersInName( file.Name, out safeName ) ) { // rename file }

  • Android: OutOfMemoryError while uploading video...

    - by AP257
    Hi all, I have the same problem as described here, but I will supply a few more details. While trying to upload a video in Android, I'm reading it into memory, and if the video is large I get an OutOfMemoryError. Here's my code: // get bytestream to upload videoByteArray = getBytesFromFile(cR, fileUriString); public static byte[] getBytesFromFile(ContentResolver cR, String fileUriString) throws IOException { Uri tempuri = Uri.parse(fileUriString); InputStream is = cR.openInputStream(tempuri); byte[] b3 = readBytes(is); is.close(); return b3; } public static byte[] readBytes(InputStream inputStream) throws IOException { ByteArrayOutputStream byteBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); // this is storage overwritten on each iteration with bytes int bufferSize = 1024; byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize]; int len = 0; while ((len = inputStream.read(buffer)) != -1) { byteBuffer.write(buffer, 0, len); } return byteBuffer.toByteArray(); } And here's the traceback (the error is thrown on the byteBuffer.write(buffer, 0, len) line): 04-08 11:56:20.456: ERROR/dalvikvm-heap(6088): Out of memory on a 16775184-byte allocation. 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): "IntentService[UploadService]" prio=5 tid=17 RUNNABLE 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): | group="main" sCount=0 dsCount=0 s=N obj=0x449a3cf0 self=0x38d410 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): | sysTid=6119 nice=0 sched=0/0 cgrp=default handle=4010416 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.expand(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:~93) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.write(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:218) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.readBytes(UploadService.java:199) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.getBytesFromFile(UploadService.java:182) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.doUploadinBackground(UploadService.java:118) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.onHandleIntent(UploadService.java:85) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.app.IntentService$ServiceHandler.handleMessage(IntentService.java:30) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.HandlerThread.run(HandlerThread.java:60) 04-08 11:56:20.467: WARN/dalvikvm(6088): threadid=17: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b180) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): Uncaught handler: thread IntentService[UploadService] exiting due to uncaught exception 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.expand(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:93) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.write(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:218) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.readBytes(UploadService.java:199) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.getBytesFromFile(UploadService.java:182) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.doUploadinBackground(UploadService.java:118) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.onHandleIntent(UploadService.java:85) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.app.IntentService$ServiceHandler.handleMessage(IntentService.java:30) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.HandlerThread.run(HandlerThread.java:60) 04-08 11:56:20.496: INFO/Process(4657): Sending signal. But (newbie question alert) does that mean that I should make multiple PostMethod requests, and glue the file together at the server end? Or can I load the bytestream into memory in chunks, and glue it together in the Android code? If anyone could give me a clue as to the best approach, I would be very grateful.

  • Microsoft SyncFramework - Sync different tables into one

    - by evnu
    Hello, we are trying to get the Microsoft SyncFramework running in our application to synchronize an oracle db with a mobile device. Problem The queries that we need to gather the data on the oracle db take much time (and we haven't found a way to speed them up yet), so we try to split them up in as much portions as possible. One big part of the whole problem is, that we need different information out of one big table, that bloats a query if combined. Unfortunately, the SyncFramework allows only one TableAdapter per SyncTable. Now this is a problem for our application: If we were able to use more than one TableAdapter per SyncTable, we could easily spread the queries in a more efficient way. Using one query per Table which combines all the needed data takes way too much time. Ideas I thought of creating different TableAdapters for each one of the required queries and then merge the resulting datasets afterwards (preferably on the server). This seems to work, but is a rather awkward solution. Does someone of you know a better solution? Or do you have some ideas that could help? Thanks in advance, evnu EDIT: So, I implemented the merge solution. If you are interested, take a look at the following code. I'll give more details if there are questions. <WebMethod()> _ Public Function GetChanges(ByVal groupMetadata As SyncGroupMetadata, ByVal syncSession As SyncSession) As SyncContext Dim stream As MemoryStream Dim format As BinaryFormatter = New BinaryFormatter Dim anchors As Dictionary(Of String, Byte()) ' keep track of the tables that will be updated Dim addTables As Dictionary(Of String, List(Of SyncTableMetadata)) = New Dictionary(Of String, List(Of SyncTableMetadata)) ' list of all present anchors Dim allAnchors As Dictionary(Of String, Byte()) = New Dictionary(Of String, Byte()) ' fill allAnchors - deserialize all given anchors For Each Table As SyncTableMetadata In groupMetadata.TablesMetadata If Table.LastReceivedAnchor Is Nothing Or Table.LastReceivedAnchor.IsNull Then Continue For stream = New MemoryStream(Table.LastReceivedAnchor.Anchor) anchors = format.Deserialize(stream) For Each item As KeyValuePair(Of String, Byte()) In anchors allAnchors.Add(item.Key, item.Value) Next stream.Dispose() Next For Each Table As SyncTableMetadata In groupMetadata.TablesMetadata If allAnchors.ContainsKey(Table.TableName) Then Table.LastReceivedAnchor.Anchor = allAnchors(Table.TableName) End If Dim addSyncTables As List(Of SyncTableMetadata) If syncSession.SyncParameters.Contains(Table.TableName) Then Dim tableNames() As String = syncSession.SyncParameters(Table.TableName).Value.ToString.Split(":") addSyncTables = New List(Of SyncTableMetadata) For Each tableName As String In tableNames Dim newSynctable As SyncTableMetadata = New SyncTableMetadata newSynctable.TableName = tableName If allAnchors.ContainsKey(tableName) Then Dim anker As SyncAnchor = New SyncAnchor(allAnchors(tableName)) newSynctable.LastReceivedAnchor = anker Else newSynctable.LastReceivedAnchor = Nothing End If newSynctable.SyncDirection = Table.SyncDirection addSyncTables.Add(newSynctable) Next addTables.Add(Table.TableName, addSyncTables) End If Next ' add the newly created synctables For Each item As KeyValuePair(Of String, List(Of SyncTableMetadata)) In addTables For Each Table As SyncTableMetadata In item.Value groupMetadata.TablesMetadata.Add(Table) Next Next ' fire queries Dim context As SyncContext = servSyncProvider.GetChanges(groupMetadata, syncSession) ' merge resulting datasets For Each item As KeyValuePair(Of String, List(Of SyncTableMetadata)) In addTables For Each Table As SyncTableMetadata In item.Value If context.DataSet.Tables.Contains(Table.TableName) Then If Not context.DataSet.Tables.Contains(item.Key) Then Dim tmp As DataTable = context.DataSet.Tables(Table.TableName).Copy tmp.TableName = item.Key context.DataSet.Tables.Add(tmp) Else context.DataSet.Tables(item.Key).Merge(context.DataSet.Tables(Table.TableName)) context.DataSet.Tables.Remove(Table.TableName) End If End If Next Next ' create new anchors Dim allAnchorsDict As Dictionary(Of String, Byte()) = New Dictionary(Of String, Byte()) For Each Table As SyncTableMetadata In groupMetadata.TablesMetadata allAnchorsDict.Add(Table.TableName, context.NewAnchor.Anchor) Next stream = New MemoryStream format.Serialize(stream, allAnchorsDict) context.NewAnchor.Anchor = stream.ToArray stream.Dispose() Return context End Function

  • Creating a GraphicsPath from a semi-transparent bitmap

    - by Moozhe
    I want to create a GraphicsPath and a list of Points to form the outline of the non-transparent area of a bitmap. If needed, I can guarantee that each image has only one solid collection of nontransparent pixels. So for example, I should be able to record the points either clockwise or counter-clockwise along the edge of the pixels and perform a full closed loop. The speed of this algorithm is not important. However, the efficiency of the resulting points is semi-important if I can skip some points to reduce in a smaller and less complex GraphicsPath. I will list my current code below which works perfectly with most images. However, some images which are more complex end up with paths which seem to connect in the wrong order. I think I know why this occurs, but I can't come up with a solution. public static Point[] GetOutlinePoints(Bitmap image) { List<Point> outlinePoints = new List<Point>(); BitmapData bitmapData = image.LockBits(new Rectangle(0, 0, image.Width, image.Height), ImageLockMode.ReadOnly, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); byte[] originalBytes = new byte[image.Width * image.Height * 4]; Marshal.Copy(bitmapData.Scan0, originalBytes, 0, originalBytes.Length); for (int x = 0; x < bitmapData.Width; x++) { for (int y = 0; y < bitmapData.Height; y++) { byte alpha = originalBytes[y * bitmapData.Stride + 4 * x + 3]; if (alpha != 0) { Point p = new Point(x, y); if (!ContainsPoint(outlinePoints, p)) outlinePoints.Add(p); break; } } } for (int y = 0; y < bitmapData.Height; y++) { for (int x = bitmapData.Width - 1; x >= 0; x--) { byte alpha = originalBytes[y * bitmapData.Stride + 4 * x + 3]; if (alpha != 0) { Point p = new Point(x, y); if (!ContainsPoint(outlinePoints, p)) outlinePoints.Add(p); break; } } } for (int x = bitmapData.Width - 1; x >= 0; x--) { for (int y = bitmapData.Height - 1; y >= 0; y--) { byte alpha = originalBytes[y * bitmapData.Stride + 4 * x + 3]; if (alpha != 0) { Point p = new Point(x, y); if (!ContainsPoint(outlinePoints, p)) outlinePoints.Add(p); break; } } } for (int y = bitmapData.Height - 1; y >= 0; y--) { for (int x = 0; x < bitmapData.Width; x++) { byte alpha = originalBytes[y * bitmapData.Stride + 4 * x + 3]; if (alpha != 0) { Point p = new Point(x, y); if (!ContainsPoint(outlinePoints, p)) outlinePoints.Add(p); break; } } } // Added to close the loop outlinePoints.Add(outlinePoints[0]); image.UnlockBits(bitmapData); return outlinePoints.ToArray(); } public static bool ContainsPoint(IEnumerable<Point> points, Point value) { foreach (Point p in points) { if (p == value) return true; } return false; } And when I turn the points into a path: GraphicsPath outlinePath = new GraphicsPath(); outlinePath.AddLines(_outlinePoints); Here's an example showing what I want. The red outline should be an array of points which can be made into a GraphicsPath in order to perform hit detection, draw an outline pen, and fill it with a brush.

  • Apple push Notification Feedback service Not working

    - by Yassmeen
    Hi, I am developing an iPhone App that uses Apple Push Notifications. On the iPhone side everything is fine, on the server side I have a problem. Notifications are sent correctly however when I try to query the feedback service to obtain a list of devices from which the App has been uninstalled, I always get zero results. I know that I should obtain one result as the App has been uninstalled from one of my test devices. After 24 hours and more I still have no results from the feedback service.. Any ideas? Does anybody know how long it takes for the feedback service to recognize that my App has been uninstalled from my test device? Note: I have another push notification applications on the device so I know that my app is not the only app. The code - C#: public static string CheckFeedbackService(string certaName, string hostName) { SYLogger.Log("Check Feedback Service Started"); ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); // Create a TCP socket connection to the Apple server on port 2196 TcpClient tcpClientF = null; SslStream sslStreamF = null; string result = string.Empty; //Contect to APNS& Add the Apple cert to our collection X509Certificate2Collection certs = new X509Certificate2Collection { GetServerCert(certaName) }; //Set up byte[] buffer = new byte[38]; int recd = 0; DateTime minTimestamp = DateTime.Now.AddYears(-1); // Create a TCP socket connection to the Apple server on port 2196 try { using (tcpClientF = new TcpClient(hostName, 2196)) { SYLogger.Log("Client Connected ::" + tcpClientF.Connected); // Create a new SSL stream over the connection sslStreamF = new SslStream(tcpClientF.GetStream(), true,ValidateServerCertificate); // Authenticate using the Apple cert sslStreamF.AuthenticateAsClient(hostName, certs, SslProtocols.Default, false); SYLogger.Log("Stream Readable ::" + sslStreamF.CanRead); SYLogger.Log("Host Name ::"+hostName); SYLogger.Log("Cert Name ::" + certs[0].FriendlyName); if (sslStreamF != null) { SYLogger.Log("Connection Started"); //Get the first feedback recd = sslStreamF.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); SYLogger.Log("Buffer length ::" + recd); //Continue while we have results and are not disposing while (recd > 0) { SYLogger.Log("Reading Started"); //Get our seconds since 1970 ? byte[] bSeconds = new byte[4]; byte[] bDeviceToken = new byte[32]; Array.Copy(buffer, 0, bSeconds, 0, 4); //Check endianness if (BitConverter.IsLittleEndian) Array.Reverse(bSeconds); int tSeconds = BitConverter.ToInt32(bSeconds, 0); //Add seconds since 1970 to that date, in UTC and then get it locally var Timestamp = new DateTime(1970, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0, DateTimeKind.Utc).AddSeconds(tSeconds).ToLocalTime(); //Now copy out the device token Array.Copy(buffer, 6, bDeviceToken, 0, 32); string deviceToken = BitConverter.ToString(bDeviceToken).Replace("-", "").ToLower().Trim(); //Make sure we have a good feedback tuple if (deviceToken.Length == 64 && Timestamp > minTimestamp) { SYLogger.Log("Feedback " + deviceToken); result = deviceToken; } //Clear array to reuse it Array.Clear(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); //Read the next feedback recd = sslStreamF.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); } SYLogger.Log("Reading Ended"); } } } catch (Exception e) { SYLogger.Log("Authentication failed - closing the connection::" + e); return "NOAUTH"; } finally { // The client stream will be closed with the sslStream // because we specified this behavior when creating the sslStream. if (sslStreamF != null) sslStreamF.Close(); if (tcpClientF != null) tcpClientF.Close(); //Clear array on error Array.Clear(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); } SYLogger.Log("Feedback ended "); return result; }

  • unsigned char* buffer (FreeType2 Bitmap) to System::Drawing::Bitmap.

    - by Dennis Roche
    Hi, I'm trying to convert a FreeType2 bitmap to a System::Drawing::Bitmap in C++/CLI. FT_Bitmap has a unsigned char* buffer that contains the data to write. I have got somewhat working save it disk as a *.tga, but when saving as *.bmp it renders incorrectly. I believe that the size of byte[] is incorrect and that my data is truncated. Any hints/tips/ideas on what is going on here would be greatly appreciated. Links to articles explaining byte layout and pixel formats etc. would be helpful. Thanks!! C++/CLI code. FT_Bitmap *bitmap = &face->glyph->bitmap; int width = (face->bitmap->metrics.width / 64); int height = (face->bitmap->metrics.height / 64); // must be aligned on a 32 bit boundary or 4 bytes int depth = 8; int stride = ((width * depth + 31) & ~31) >> 3; int bytes = (int)(stride * height); // as *.tga void *buffer = bytes ? malloc(bytes) : NULL; if (buffer) { memset(buffer, 0, bytes); for (int i = 0; i < glyph->rows; ++i) memcpy((char *)buffer + (i * width), glyph->buffer + (i * glyph->pitch), glyph->pitch); WriteTGA("Test.tga", buffer, width, height); } // as *.bmp array<Byte>^ values = gcnew array<Byte>(bytes); Marshal::Copy((IntPtr)glyph->buffer, values, 0, bytes); Bitmap^ systemBitmap = gcnew Bitmap(width, height, PixelFormat::Format24bppRgb); // create bitmap data, lock pixels to be written. • Android: OutOfMemoryError while uploading video - how best to chunk?

    - by AP257
    Hi all, I have the same problem as described here, but I will supply a few more details. While trying to upload a video in Android, I'm reading it into memory, and if the video is large I get an OutOfMemoryError. Here's my code: // get bytestream to upload videoByteArray = getBytesFromFile(cR, fileUriString); public static byte[] getBytesFromFile(ContentResolver cR, String fileUriString) throws IOException { Uri tempuri = Uri.parse(fileUriString); InputStream is = cR.openInputStream(tempuri); byte[] b3 = readBytes(is); is.close(); return b3; } public static byte[] readBytes(InputStream inputStream) throws IOException { ByteArrayOutputStream byteBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); // this is storage overwritten on each iteration with bytes int bufferSize = 1024; byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize]; int len = 0; while ((len = inputStream.read(buffer)) != -1) { byteBuffer.write(buffer, 0, len); } return byteBuffer.toByteArray(); } And here's the traceback (the error is thrown on the byteBuffer.write(buffer, 0, len) line): 04-08 11:56:20.456: ERROR/dalvikvm-heap(6088): Out of memory on a 16775184-byte allocation. 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): "IntentService[UploadService]" prio=5 tid=17 RUNNABLE 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): | group="main" sCount=0 dsCount=0 s=N obj=0x449a3cf0 self=0x38d410 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): | sysTid=6119 nice=0 sched=0/0 cgrp=default handle=4010416 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.expand(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:~93) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.write(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:218) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.readBytes(UploadService.java:199) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.getBytesFromFile(UploadService.java:182) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.doUploadinBackground(UploadService.java:118) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.onHandleIntent(UploadService.java:85) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.app.IntentService$ServiceHandler.handleMessage(IntentService.java:30) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-08 11:56:20.456: INFO/dalvikvm(6088): at android.os.HandlerThread.run(HandlerThread.java:60) 04-08 11:56:20.467: WARN/dalvikvm(6088): threadid=17: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b180) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): Uncaught handler: thread IntentService[UploadService] exiting due to uncaught exception 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.expand(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:93) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream.write(ByteArrayOutputStream.java:218) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.readBytes(UploadService.java:199) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.getBytesFromFile(UploadService.java:182) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.doUploadinBackground(UploadService.java:118) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at com.android.election2010.UploadService.onHandleIntent(UploadService.java:85) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.app.IntentService$ServiceHandler.handleMessage(IntentService.java:30) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-08 11:56:20.467: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6088): at android.os.HandlerThread.run(HandlerThread.java:60) 04-08 11:56:20.496: INFO/Process(4657): Sending signal. PID: 6088 SIG: 3 I guess that as @DroidIn suggests, I need to upload it in chunks. But (newbie question alert) does that mean that I should make multiple PostMethod requests, and glue the file together at the server end? Or can I load the bytestream into memory in chunks, and glue it together in the Android code? If anyone could give me a clue as to the best approach, I would be very grateful.
