  • Data types for validation

    - by nevalu
How to create a new data type which to can check/validate its schema when is created a new variable (of that type)? By example, to validate if a string has 20 characters, I tried: {{{ // Format: 2006-01-12T06:06:06Z func date(str string) { if len(str) != 20 { fmt.Println("error") } } var Date = date() type Account struct { domain string username string created Date } }}} but it faills because Date is not a type.

  • Assigning a pointer variable to a const int in C++?

    - by John
I'm wondering if anyone can explain the following to me: If I write int i = 0; float* pf = i; I get a compile error (gcc 4.2.1): error: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘float*’ Makes sense - they are obviously two completely different types. But if instead I write const int i = 0; float* pf = i; It compiles without error. Why should the 'const' make a difference on the right hand side of the assignment? Isn't part of the idea of the 'const' keyword to be able to enforce type constraints for constant values? Any explanation I have been able to come up with feels kind of bogus. And none of my explanations also explain the fact that const int i = 1; float* pf = i; fails to compile. Can anyone offer an explanation?

  • How do I programmatically apply a Drupal input filter?

    - by ford
I am currently exporting Drupal data to an external source (XML) programmatically. However, I want the data to run through the site's default Input Format (the filter that runs before user content is displayed on the website) before being written to file. How do I programmatically apply a Drupal input filter? Is there a specific function call or hook for this purpose? If so, links/advice would be most appreciated.

  • C++ - repeatedly using istringstream

    - by Goffrey
I have a code for reading files with float numbers on line stored like this: "3.34|2.3409|1.0001|...|1.1|". I would like to read them using istringstream, but it doesn't work as I would expect: string row; string strNum; istringstream separate; // textovy stream pro konverzi while ( getline(file, row) ) { separate.str(row); // = HERE is PROBLEM = while( getline(separate, strNum, '|') ) { // using delimiter flNum = strToFl(strNum); // my conversion insertIntoMatrix(i,j,flNum); // some function j++; } i++; } In marked point, row is copied into separate stream only first time. In next iteration it doesn't work and it does nothing. I expected it is possible to be used more times without constructing new istringstream object in every iteration.

  • Gzip In-Memory Compression

    - by feal87
Quick and simple question. There are examples online about achieving in-memory gzip compression with zlib (C++) WITHOUT external libraries (like boost or such)? I just need to compress and decompress a block of data without much options. (it must be gzip as its the same format used by another mine C# program (the data is to be shared)) Tried to search to no avail... Thanks!

  • Detect iphone region

    - by camilo
Hi. In my app, the user is supposed to insert a phone number, which is then displayed somewhere else. In the contacts application, when displaying a phone number, it automatically appears in the format of the language selected by the user. Is there a way to do this automatically, or a way to detect the region and then adapt the displayed string?

  • How can I get awk input from a file and add my own text to the data?

    - by xs2dhillon
Assume that I have a text file separated by colons. I understand how to display the entire text file or any specific column using awk. However, what I want to do is to get the awk output and then display it by adding my own text using a shell script? For example, assume that my text file is: England:London:GMT USA:Washington:EST France:Paris:GMT What I want to do is to display this input into the below format: COUNTRY: England CAPITOL: London TIMEZONE: GMT COUNTRY: USA CAPITOL: Washington TIMEZONE: EST COUNTRY: France CAPITOL: Paris TIMEZONE: GMT

  • nested list comprehension using intermediate result

    - by KentH
I am trying to grok the output of a function which doesn't have the courtesy of setting a result code. I can tell it failed by the "error:" string which is mixed into the stderr stream, often in the middle of a different conversion status message. I have the following list comprehension which works, but scans for the "error:" string twice. Since it is only rescanning the actual error lines, it works fine, but it annoys me I can't figure out how to use a single scan. Here's the working code: errors = [e[e.find('error:'):] for e in err.splitlines() if 'error:' in e] The obvious (and wrong) way to simplify is to save the "find" result errors = [e[i:] for i in e.find('error:') if i != -1 for e in err.splitlines()] However, I get "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'e' referenced before assignment". Blindly reversing the 'for's in the comprehension also fails. How is this done? THanks. Kent

  • C++: use array of strings wrapped in namespace?

    - by John D.
I got the following code, wishing to wrap a group of strings nicely in a namespace: namespace msgs { const int arr_sz = 3; const char *msg[arr_sz] = {"blank", "blank", "blank" }; msg[0] = "Welcome, lets start by getting a little info from you!\n"; msg[1] = "Alright, bla bla bla.."; msg[2] = "etc."; } The code inside works nicely inside a function, but I don't know how to return an array from it. The namespace idea LOOKS fine, but it returns on the last three lines: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before ‘=’ token Why can't I define the array inside a namespace, do I need to do something first? It's nice because I can call it like printf(msgs::msg[1]) etc. I want to do this I just can't wrap my head around what's wrong :(

  • What is the .NET equivalent of PHP var_dump?

    - by George Mauer
I remember seeing a while ago that there is some method in maybe the Reflection namespace that would recursively run ToString() on all of an object's properties and format it nicely for display. Yes, I know everything I could want will be accessible through the debugger, but I'm wondering if anyone knows that command?
