  • Generating HTML Programmatically in C#, Targeting Printed Reports

    I've taken over a C# (2.0) code base that has the ability to print information. The code to do this is insanely tedious. Elements are drawn onto each page, with magic constants representing positioning. I imagine the programmer sitting with a ruler, designing each page by measuring and typing in the positions. And yes, one could certainly come up with some nice abstractions to make this approach rational. But I am looking at a different method. The idea is that I'll replace the current code that prints with code that generates static HTML pages, saves them to a file, and then launches the web browser on that file. The most obvious benefit is that I don't have to deal with formatting-- I can let the web browser do that for me with tags and CSS. So what I am looking for is a very lightweight set of classes that I can use to help generate HTML. I don't need anything as heavyweight as HTMLTextWriter. What I'm looking for is something to avoid fragments like this: String.Format("<tr><td>{0}</td><td>{1}</td></tr>", foo, bar); And instead take have this kind of feel: ... table(). tr(). td(foo). td(bar) Or something like that. I've seen lightweight classes like that for other languages but can't find the equivalent (or better) for C#. I can certainly write it myself, but I'm a firm believer in not reinventing wheels. Know anything like this? Know anything better than this?

  • Flattening out a lib directory using jarjar

    I'm trying to flatten out the lib directory of a project using jarjar, where it will produce a jar file with my main code and all my required libraries inside of it. I can get the project code into the jar, but I need to find a way to get every jar in the './lib/' directory extracted to the base directory of the final output jar. I don't want it flattened in the sense that I still want the package hiearchy preserved. I could manually list every jar file using zipfileset, but I was hoping to do it dynamically. I would also like to include any *.so files flattened into the base directory of the output jar so I can extract them into a temp dir easily without having to search through the jar. For example my lib directory... ./lib/library1.jar ./lib/library2.jar ./lib/foo/library3.jar ./lib/foo/bar.so would look like this when cracked open in the output jar file... /..library1_package_hierarchy../lib1.class /..library1_package_heirarchy../lib2.class ... (and so on) /..library2_package_hierarchy../lib1.class /..library2_package_heirarchy../lib2.class ...   • Cancel text selection on textinput in Flex

    So the real problem is the lack of an onReleaseOutside function. I found some examples of how to bypass this during a drag function but it was not applicable for a text input. The problem is that when a user selects some text in textinput and mouses off the application area and then mouses up, I'm getting a problem that the textinput keeps thinking that the mouse down is actively selecting text in the textinput and continually overwrites the characters being entered in the textinput. You can test this at http://palermo.infusedindustries.com [ in the search bar of the live store on the page, type some text, then highlight it all and don't let up on the mouse until you are outside the store. I finally hacked some junk together so I can tell if the mouse goes off the stage using some code like var x = stage.mouseX; var y = stage.mouseY; if(x < 0 || y <0 || x >stage.stageWidth || y > stage.stageHeight) I'd like to just make the textinput stop thinking it should be highlighting text so that even if the user scrolls out of the applet and mouses up that the text input still overwrites what is in the search bar and functions as normal. I can't seem to find any events or ways to tell the Flex text field to stop thinking that the mouse is down and that the user is done selecting text.

    I try to to find a solution to do View and Edit of a the item from a tablview. My application base on UITabBarController. Each of the Bar items contain a class with a a couple of UIViews. This is the first items of UITabBarController. I done Add event from Apple sample code: SimpleEKDemo. Add Event working without any problem. I tried to add View and Edit part to the code. I would able to select an items from tableView to edit the selected item. But after I tried to add code from SimpleEKDemo to my code, I realized I have to add UINavigationController to the implement. So I did. After I add that it's came to the items of UITabBarController. Also I even the Add Event didn't worked very well (I couldn't insert event name and location. but edit was working. So I need to know: 1- Is it possible to implement Edit/View without using UINavigationController. If yes please let me know a sample code. 2- If I must use UINavigationController. Because I don't need UINavigationController to become it the first page and I don't need any bar added to my application.   • Need help making a div appear on the bottom of the screen while the rest of the divs scroll

    It's hard to describe my specific problem without just showing you the HTML code. The HTML source can be seen easily from clicking "View Source" while seeing the page http://techdot.us/projects/jeopardy/view.php. The CSS is located here: http://techdot.us/projects/jeopardy/style/gameStyle.css. My main goal is to have the main content table rows/columns appear on the majority of the screen (everything except 69px, to be exact). So, the bottom 69px contains an informational panel that is supposed to stay on the bottom of the screen, even when the user scrolls down the page. Scrolling is supposed to, in theory, trigger the majority of the content to go down the page normally, except the bottom bar which stays static. I have achieved this effect on the website. However, there is a big problem. On smaller screens (as you can simulate by resizing the window), some of the main table gets cut off. It seems that my CSS solution is a botch, and, in effect, does not accomplish my main goal. The bottom bar should not cut off part of the table from the main content div (gameTable), but the main content div should display all of its content in a scrollable fashion. My CSS at the moment works as long as the viewer's screen is a certain pixel height. This is definitely not permanent. Thank you SO much for the help. I really appreciate it and totally understand that I'm being a total pain by just throwing down tons of CSS and HTML code to edit.

  • iphone: re-sizing gradient after shift from portrait to landscape

    In viewDidLoad, I can create a gradient with no problem: CAGradientLayer *blueGradient = [[CAGradientLayer layer] retain]; blueGradient.frame = CGRectMake(gradientStartX,gradientStartY,gradientWidth,gradientHeight); where gradientWith is device-defined as 320 or 1024 as appropriate. What I can’t do is resize it inside willRotateToInterfaceOrientation: -– and thus get rid of that empty black space off to the right -- after the user changes to landscape mode. (The nav bar and tab bar behave nicely.) (1) Recalibrating the gradient’s new dimensions according to the new mid-point, (2) using kCALayerMaxXMargin, and (3) employing bounds all looked like they would do the job. bounds looked a litte more intuitive, so I tried that. I don’t want to admit that I have made zero progress. I will say that I’ve been reduced to the brute force method of trying every permutation of self, view, layer, bounds, blueGradient, and CGRect(gradientStartX,gradientStartY,newGradientWidth,newGradientHeight) with zero success. This is not difficult. My lack of understanding is making it difficult. Anyone out there “Been there, done that”?

  • Fast compiler error messages in Eclipse

    As a new Eclipse user, I am constantly annoyed by how long it takes compiler error messages to display. This is mostly only a problem for long errors that don't fit in the status bar or the "Problems" tab. But I get enough long errors in Java—especially with generics—that this is a nagging issue. (Note: The correct answer to this question is not "get better at using generics." ;-) The ways I have found to display an error are: Press Ctrl+. or execute the command "Next Annotation". The next error is highlighted and its associated message appears in the status bar (if it is short enough). The error is also highlighted in the "Problems" tab, if it is open, but the tab is not automatically brought to the top. Hover the mouse over the error. After a noticeable lag, the error message appears as a "tool tip", along with any associated "Quick Fixes." Hover the mouse over the error icon on the left side of the editing pane. After a noticeable lag, all of the error messages for that line appear as a "tool tip." Clicking on the icon brings up "Quick Fixes." What I would like is for Ctrl+. to automatically and instantly bring up the complete error message (I don't care where). Is this a configurable option? [UPDATE] @asterite's "Ctrl+. F2" is almost it. How do I make "Next Annotation, then Show Tooltip Description" a macro bound to a single keystroke?

  • How to keep jquery from descending too far?

    Hello, I am having a problem with jquery going a bit too far on pattern matching of CSS classes and IDs. I have some markup that looks like this: <div id="blah"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" /> </div> <div class="levelA"> <div class="level2"> <input type="text" value="foo"/> </div> </div> </div> <input type="text" value="bar" /> I want for the 3 inputs to say Hello Foo Bar so I have this line of jquery: $('#blah .level2 input').val('hello'); the problem now is that jquery is a bit too liberal in it's pattern matches and matches both the first and second.   • When are temporaries created as part of a function call destroyed?

    Is a temporary created as part of an argument to a function call guaranteed to stay around until the called function ends, even if the temporary isn't passed directly to the function? There's virtually no chance that was coherent, so here's an example: class A { public: A(int x) : x(x) {printf("Constructed A(%d)\n", x);} ~A() {printf("Destroyed A\n");} int x; int* y() {return &x;} }; void foo(int* bar) { printf("foo(): %d\n", *bar); } int main(int argc, char** argv) { foo(A(4).y()); } If A(4) were passed directly to foo it would definitely not be destroyed until after the foo call ended, but instead I'm calling a method on the temporary and losing any reference to it. I would instinctively think the temporary A would be destroyed before foo even starts, but testing with GCC 4.3.4 shows it isn't; the output is: Constructed A(4) foo(): 4 Destroyed A The question is, is GCC's behavior guaranteed by the spec? Or is a compiler allowed to destroy the temporary A before the call to foo, invaliding the pointer to its member I'm using?

  • Problems setting vertical scrollbar value in a datagrid (old one, not the better DataGridView).

    I need to save the selected row and the vertical scrollBar's position after a refresh. This is how I do it: int currRow = myGrid.CurrentRowIndex; int vScrollPos = ((ScrollBar)myGrid.Controls[1]).Value // some code that refreshes the data among other things myGrid.CurrentRowIndex = currRow; // this sets the property myGrid.Select(currRow); // this selects in UI (both commands required) ((ScrollBar)myGrid.Controls[1]).Value = vScrollPos; Here's my problem: The grid always jumps to a place where the selected row is at the bottom. setting the current row makes it happen - similar to EnsureVisible of newer grid implementations. But after that there's the vScrollBar repositioning - and it just doesn't work right. In debug I see that the scroll bar value gets updated. In the UI, if I hit the down/up arrow on the scrollbar it suddenly jumps to the right place - But if I don't click anything the grid is just in the wrong position. I tried refreshing the grid/scroll bar to force a redraw, but it doesn't help. The actual grid position is just not in sync with the vertical ScrollBar's value. Any ideas?

  • One controller with multiple models? Am I doing this correctly?

    My web app, up until this point, has been fairly straight forward. I have Users, Contacts, Appointments and a few other things to manage. All of these are easy - it's just one model per section so I just did a scaffold for each, then modified the scaffolded code to fit my need. Pretty easy... Unfortunately I am having a problem on this next section because I want the 'Financials' section of my app to be more in depth than the other sections which I simply scaffolded. For example, when the user clicks the 'Contacts' link on the navigation bar, it just shows a list of contacts, pretty straight forward and is in line with the scaffold. However, when the user clicks the 'Financials' link on the navigation bar, I want to show the bank accounts on the left of the page and a few of the transactions on the right. So the financials tab will basically work with data from two models: transactions and bank_accounts. I think I should make the models (transactions & bank_accounts) and then make a controller called Financials, then I can query the models from the Financials controller and display the pages in app/views/financials/ Am I correct in this app layout? I have never worked with more than the basics of scaffolding so I want to ensure I get this right! Thank you!

    I want to save the state of my structs as a binary file and load them again. My structs look like this: typedef struct { uint8_t pointerLength; uint8_t *pointer; uint8_t NumBla; uinT16 Bla[MAX_NUM_Bla]; ... } BAR_STRUCT, *BAR; typedef struct { int numBar; BAR bars[MAX_NUM_BAR]; } FOO_STRUCT, *FOO; Saving is no problem, but restoring the state. Iam at the point where the bytestring from the file is on the heap and a pointer is pointing to the first adress of this string. And I do as follows: const void* dataPointer //points to adress in heap unsigned char* bytePointer = (unsigned char*)dataPointer; FOO foo = (FOO_STRUCT*)bytePointer; bytePointer += sizeof(FOO_STRUCT); for (int i=0; i < MAX_NUM_BAR; i++) { foo->bars[i] = (BAR_STRUCT*)bytePointer; } The last assignment doesn't work and I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Because bars is an array of pointers i need to correct the adresses of each element is pointing to. Because they are not valid anymore. So I try to assign the adress of the object I saved in the bytesteam to foo-bars[i]; But I can not change foo-bars[i] at all. Accessing works but but assigning a new adress doesn't. I wonder why.

  • setContentView taking long time (10-15 seconds) to execute

    I have a large activity that contains 100 or more buttons. But it's working fine once loaded. Problem however is loading. From clicking its launch icon to getting the first view it takes 10-12 seconds. Until the first view, it shows gray title bar in black background. At least, I want to show a simple progress bar or dialog while its loading. But it seems like you cannot show anything before setContentView executed. I think I have tried everything I could without any success. If you can give me any hint or idea, I would be thankful. UPDATE: I found a dramatic resolution. It takes now a second to load the view. I didn't use splash, thread or async task at all - BTW, don't try to use thread or async on UI because Android UI is not thread-safe. Problem was that those buttons were based on a custom class that requires initialization to load same resource. - so 100 or more file operations were happening on setContentView. Making them a just single loading solved my problem.

  • Embedding ADF UI Components into OAF regions

    Having finished the 2 Webcast on ADF integration with Oracle E-Business Suite, Sara Woodhull, Principal Product Manager on the Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Technology team and I are going to continue adding entries to the series on this topic, trying to cover as many use cases as possible. In this entry, Sara created an overview on how Oracle ADF pages can be embedded into an Oracle Application Framework region. This is a very interesting approach that will enable those of you who are exploring ADF as a technology stack to enhanced some of the Oracle E-Business Suite flows and leverage your skill on Oracle Applications Framework (OAF). In upcoming entries we will start unveiling the internals needed to achieve session sharing between the regions. Stay tuned for more entries and enjoy this new post.   Document Scope This document only covers information that is specific to embedding an Oracle ADF page in an Oracle Application Framework–based page. It assumes knowledge of Oracle ADF and Oracle Application Framework development. It also assumes knowledge of the material in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1, “Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java” and My Oracle Support Note 1296491.1, "FAQ for Integration of Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Applications". Prerequisite Patch Download Patch 12726556:R12.FND.B from My Oracle Support and install it. The implementation described below requires Patch 12726556:R12.FND.B to provide the accessors for the ADF page. This patch is required in addition to the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java patch described in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1. Development Environments You need two different JDeveloper environments: Oracle ADF and OA Framework. Oracle ADF Development Environment You build your Oracle ADF page using JDeveloper 11g. You should use JDeveloper 11g R1 (the latest is 11.1.1.6.0) if you need to use other products in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Stack, such as Oracle WebCenter, Oracle SOA Suite, or BI. You should use JDeveloper 11g R2 (the latest is 11.1.2.3.0) if you do not need other Oracle Fusion Middleware products. JDeveloper 11g R2 is an Oracle ADF-specific release that supports the latest Java EE standards and has various core improvements. Oracle Application Framework Development Environment Build your OA Framework page using a development environment corresponding to your Oracle E-Business Suite version. You must use Release 12.1.2 or later because the rich content container was introduced in Release 12.1.2. See “OA Framework - How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12.x” (My Oracle Support Doc ID 416708.1). Building your Oracle ADF Page Typically you build your ADF page using the session management feature of the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK for Java as described in My Oracle Support Note 974949.1. Also see My Oracle Support Note 1296491.1, "FAQ for Integration of Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) Applications". Building an ADF Page with the Hierarchy Viewer If you are using the ADF hierarchy viewer, you should set up the structure and settings of the ADF page as follows or the hierarchy viewer may not fill the entire area it is supposed to fill (especially a problem in Firefox). Create a stretchable component as the parent component for the hierarchy viewer, such as af:panelStretchLayout (underneath the af:form component in the structure). Use af:panelStretchLayout for Oracle ADF 11.1.1.6 and earlier. For later versions of Oracle ADF, use af:panelGridLayout. Create your hierarchy viewer component inside the stretchable component. Create Function in Oracle E-Business Suite Instance In your Oracle E-Business Suite instance, create a function for your ADF page with the following parameters. You can use either the Functions window in the System Administrator responsibility or the Functions page in the Functional Administrator responsibility. Function Function Name Type=External ADF Function (ADFX) HTML Call=GWY.jsp?targetPage=faces/<your ADF page> ">You must also add your function to an Oracle E-Business Suite menu or permission set and set up function security or role-based access control (RBAC) so that the user has authorization to access the function. If you do not want the function to appear on the navigation menu, add the function without a menu prompt. See the Oracle E-Business Suite System Administrator's Guide Documentation Set for more information. Testing the Function from the Oracle E-Business Suite Home Page It’s a good idea to test launching your ADF page from the Oracle E-Business Suite Home Page. Add your function to the navigation menu for your responsibility with a prompt and try launching it. If your ADF page expects parameters from the surrounding page, those might not be available, however. Setting up the Oracle Application Framework Rich Container Once you have built your Oracle ADF 11g page, you need to embed it in your Oracle Application Framework page. Create Rich Content Container in your OA Framework JDeveloper environment In the OA Extension Structure pane for your OAF page, select the region where you want to add the rich content, and add a richContainer item to the region. Set the following properties on the richContainer item: id Content Type=Others (for Release 12.1.3. This property value may change in a future release.) Destination Function=[function code] Width (in pixels or percent, such as 100%) Height (in pixels) Parameters=[any parameters your Oracle ADF page is expecting to receive from the Oracle Application Framework page] Parameters In the Parameters property, specify parameters that will be passed to the embedded content as a list of comma-separated, name-value pairs. Dynamic parameters may be specified as paramName={@viewAttr}. Dynamic Rich Content Container Properties If you want your rich content container to display a different Oracle ADF page depending on other information, you would set up a different function for each different Oracle ADF page. You would then set the Destination Function and Parameters properties programmatically, instead of setting them in the Property Inspector.
