  I have some kind xml content I need to extract the information and store it into database <xml file="136000000-136100000"> <Id>136000000</Id> <Name>Sem Serxy</Na me> <Email>[email protected]</Email> <DateRegistration>10/13/2010 1:49:30 AM</DateRegistration> </xml> <xml file="136000000-136100000"> <Id>136000001</Id> <Name>God Deckor</Name> <Email>[email protected]</Email> If I try simple xml load is not working as the document doesn't seem to be valid xml. I can use regex to extract the info with preg_match_all but I feel this is not the right way as the data is already well structured. Any other method ?

• Encoding problem in Java Server Side application.

  Hi! I have following problem - i`m running Java WS application. The server side (Axis2 WS Modules on Apache Tomcat) is running at Ubuntu server. The problem is when i get some information from client side in cyrilic and store in database it goes like "?????". If i add data in db directly(From Remote MYSQL Console - there is NO problem). Before move to ubuntu server side was at Windows XP and there was no problem? Sorry for bad explanation, but i have no idea where to start! Thanks in advance!

• How to use NGramTokenizerFactory or NGramFilterFactory?

  Hi, Recently, I am studying how to store and index using Solr. I want to do facet.prefix search. With whitespace tokenizer, "Where are you" will be splited into three words and indexed. If I search facet.prefix="where are", no result will be returned. I google and found NGramFilterFactory can help me. But when I apply this filter factory, I found the result is "w, h, e, ..., wh, ..", which split the sentence by character, not by token word. I use the parameters maxGramSize and minGramSize, set to 1 and 3. Does the NGramFilterFactory work right? Should I add some other parameters? Is there some other filter factories which can help me? • Drupal Event/Calendar Module not storing event time

  Hello, all. I have installed a fresh copy of Drupal on an Xampp server. Within that install is a collection of modules for creating an event calendar. There's actually a great instructional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO4TeEydtMs for getting all the necessary fields up. So far everything is working except... the events won't store the time as stated in the edit field. No matter what I do in the edit mode as admin or otherwise the time always says 12pm and the event on the calendar says "All Day". I know this is pretty obscure but I figured why not try and ask. • Is there a way to make XmlDocument parsing less strict

  I am making a program that will store its data in an XML file. When people write XML they can make subtle mistakes, like ending a comment with - so it looks like <!-- comment ---> or adding a </>inside an attribute. Naturally, the XML still can be read all right, but trying to input this text into XmlDocument will give a syntax error (and it wont be parsed). Is there a way to make XmlDocument less strict and make it ignore violations of the standard that do not make the document unparseable? For example, its clear that <!-- comment ---> is still a comment even though it contains - at the end which is against the standard specification).

• Automatically "upgrade" user settings from previous version of app.config file?

  Every time I compile my app and the version number changes (I have an auto-incrementing build number), I lose the user-configured app.config settings, since they're stored in the AppData folder for a specific version. Essentially, every release of my application starts from scratch as far as user settings go. While this is a mild annoyance in development, it raises the question as I approach deployment/release - if I use the app.config to store my user settings, will the user's personalized settings be hosed every time they install a patch that changes the version number of my app? If so, is there an easy way to "upgrade" the settings from the previous release? I know that using HKCU in the registry is another option, but I like the ease of the My.Settings namespace, and I'd like to stay with app.config. Another SO question asks something similar, though the answer doesn't seem that clear. Will setting my MSI so it asks the user to upgrade be enough to preserve these user-level settings?

I though about ArrayList that is serializable and we can put there everything but is not elegant way. I want to send different types of data because user can choose from a variety of options that server can do for it. Any advices?

  Hi, I'm wondering if V1.0 generated redeem codes will be usable on a V1.1 version of my app? BTW, I know redeem codes are valid only 4 weeks and I also know that apps downloaded with a redeem code can be upgraded for free as with paid ones. My concern here is just: do unused redeem codes become invalid when a new version of my app will be available on the store? Apple's doc is not clear about this point.   I have looked for some explanation on the exact usages for the set of standards known as OpenSocial. I need some clarification if I can use OpenSocial like the following. I would like to create one library used to community with an OpenSocial api for use in my website that will not 'behave' like an application described by common sites like facebook and myspace. I'm not making a myspace of facebook application, I'm creating my own website and I want users to be able to find friends. I would like to allow users to store usernames and passwords for various OpenSocial-supported social networks. I would also like to use the api to sync events from my web site to their specified social network. I would also like to allow my users to view a list of friends and invite them. Is it possible to create one library that supports OpenSocial and simple "point" to and social network that supports it to get a list of friends and etc?

• REST client website login

  I have written a REST service that uses WSSE as an authentication method but i want to be able to use this rest service through a browser by creating a website around the service. I want the user to be able to log in on the website then when they view, for example the "view users" page an ajax request is made to test.com/users and back comes the list. The part i'm trying to get my head around is the logging in/out on the website and keeping the user logged in across pages. Since in a true REST implementation there's no state held on the server, i can't use $_SESSION and now i don't know where to start! What is the best way to go about this? Do i still need to store session information on the server then possibly use cURL to make the request? Thanks Jay

  the App Store app and fairly a lot many apps display a view that says "Loading.." while the content is being retrieved. How can we do this? Should I remove the UITableView and call addSubView and then once the data is available, add the tableview back? Or is there any other shortcut? • One account, multiple users, multiple shopping cart in a web application

  I received a somewhat unusual request (imo) for a transactional web site. I have to implement the possibility of having multiple shopping cart for the same user. Those really are shopping carts, not order templates. I.E: A store with several departments ordering under the same account, but with a different person placing orders for a specific department only. Having more than one user per account is not an option since it would involve 'too much' management from the stores owner and the admins. Anyone had to deal with this before? The option so far is to have names for shopping cart, and a dropdown list or something alike after login to choose the cart with some kind of 'busy flag' to lock the cart if it's in use in another session.

  I'm not looking for a way to associate values with a thread using the 'SetData' method. I need to store some kind of data that will only exist during the scope of a calling method, could be the immediate parent or any other call that is made down on the stack. For example: void SomeMethod() { string someInfo = "someInfo"; SomeOtherMethod(); object data = GetDataOnCurrentScope("someKey"); } void SomeOtherMethod() { SetDataOnParentScope("someKey", somevalue); } In this case both the 'someInfo' local variable and the data set with the "someKey" key will disapear after 'SomeMethod' returns. • Indexed key vs indexed separate columns, which one is faster ?

  In MYSQL, from a pure performance perspective, if I have a table with large amount of data with 10/1 read/write ratio. is it faster in read/write performance to have 4 search criteria in separate columns and all indexed or have them combined in to one single string acting as a key and store in one indexed column ? e.g. say this table with 5 columns, first name, last name, sex, country and file where the first four columns will ALWAYS be given as a part of search parameters in a search or have a table with two columns, key and file. where the value of key can be john-smith-male-australia ?? I don't quite get the pros and cons. the point I try to stress is the fact that all parameters will be given.in a search.

• Beginning android: how to map a string to a list

  I just finished the NotepadV1-3 tutorial for Android apps, and I was thinking of creating my own inventory app for fun, which for now basically consists of a list of names (such as "DVD" or "Grocery"), each of which can be clicked, which will bring up another specific list associated with that name. However, with the SQLiteDatabase.insert(..) method, the ContentValue can only take (among many others) "String, String" as argument, and I can't figure out how to input into the database a list of Strings associated with a particular key. I'm having trouble researching on how to resolve this as I am not that familiar with SQL. What would be the best way to store a key with its associated list of Strings? Any pointers and suggestions are appreciated! Android newb :[

  When I type in addresses in Google maps for locations in Asia, quite a lot of them are off by more than 200 metres. For example, "blk 85 bedok north road, singapore" is off by more than 300 metres. While I don't expect Google Maps to be spot on every time, sometimes the error is too great for certain use cases. What options do I have to handle inaccurate Google Maps locations in a web app? The web app should let the user enter an address or postal code as part of an entry and I will geocode the address and store the lat-long.

• IF/ELSE makes stored procedure not return a result set

  I have a stored procedure that needs to return something from one of two databases: IF @x = 1 SELECT @y FROM Table_A ELSE IF @x = 2 SELECT @y FROM Table_B Either SELECT alone will return what I want, but adding the IF/ELSE makes it stop returning anything. I tried: IF @x = 1 RETURN SELECT @y FROM Table_A ELSE IF @x = 2 RETURN SELECT @y FROM Table_B But that causes a syntax error. The two options I see are both horrible: Do a UNION and make sure that only one side has any results: SELECT @y FROM Table_A WHERE @x = 1 UNION SELECT @y FROM Table_B WHERE @x = 2 Create a temporary table to store one row in, and create and delete it every time I run this procedure (lots). Neither solution is elegant, and I assume they would both be horrible for performance (unless MS SQL is smart enough not to search the tables when the WHERE class is always false). Is there anything else I can do? Is option 1 not as bad as I think?

I have a complex GUI with few Tab Controls and it consumes quite a bit of memory which is kept allocated when the application is not active. I was hoping one of you may have got this working along the lines (or similar) Application Active User does work, plays with UI - enters some information in the text boxes and moves around the tabs User minimises the form to work with other applications On Minimise, Save the current state to the disk and dispose the root tabcontrol On Activiate, build the root tabcontrol from the disk and add to the controls collection Before I divein to do this, I thought it will help me if I ask this question here. I'm storing some request-specific data in os.environ, and was wondering if that data was going to leak to other requests. Does anyone know? Yes I realize that it's normal to use request.environ for this, and usually I do, but I want to store the currently authorized user ID (I'm using custom auth, not GAE auth) inside os.environ so that the models know the currently logged in user (remember, they don't have access to request.environ) without me having to pass the request object to just about every single model method. any help would be greatly appreciated Ian

  Hi everyone, I have two classes (class1 and class2) that just store data, no methods. I have a third class that has an instance variable that, depending on some user input, will be set to one of the two classes. So, in the third class I declare the variable generically as NSObject *aClass; and during runtime set it to whatever it should be. aClass = [[Class1 alloc] init]; // or aClass = [[Class2 alloc] init]; However, when I try to access fields from aClass NSString *str = aClass.field1; It gives me the error: request for member 'field1' in something not a structure or a union. Field1 is declared in both class1 and class2. When I try to cast aClass aClass = (Class1 *) aClass; it gives the same error. What am I doing wrong, is there a better way to do this?

  I was looking at the post here which says When the browser makes a request for a static image and sends cookies together with the request, the server doesn't have any use for those cookies. So they only create network traffic for no good reason. Although I tend not to use cookies at all, my doubt is I used to think that the server creates the cookies to store the session varialbles etc and sends to the client. But this statement says the reverse of that. I don't quiet understand what is the need for the browser to create and send cookies with the request, to me it doesn't make any sense?. • MySQL thousands of updates, slowing down.

  I need to run a PHP loop for a total of 100, 000 times (about 10, 000 each script-run), and each loop has about 5 MySQL UPDATES to it. When I run the loop 50 times, it takes 3 sec. When I run the loop 1000 times, it takes about 1300 sec. As you can see, MySQL is slowing down ALOT with more UPDATEs. This is an example update: mysql_query("UPDATE table SET `row1`=`row1` +1 WHERE `UniqueValue`='5'"); This is generated randomly from PHP, but I can store it in a variable and run it every n loops. Is there any way to either make MySQL and PHP run at a consistent speed (is PHP storing hidden variables?), or split up the script so they do? Note: I am running this for a development purposes, not for production, so there will only be 1 computer accessing the data.

Basically struct BITS_8 { char _1:1; (...) char _8:1; } Now i was trying to pass one of these bits as a parameter into a function void func(char bit){ if(bit){ // do something }else{ // do something else } // and the call was struct BITS_8 bits; // all bits were set to 0 before bits._7 = 1; bits._8 = 1; func(bits._8); The solution was to single the bit out when calling the function: func(bits._8 & 0x128); But i kept going into //do something because other bits were set. I was wondering if this is the correct behaviour or if my compiler is broken. The compiler is an embedded compiler that produces code for freescale ASICs.
