  I have public variable 'MessagePlaceholder' on MasterPage and a Class that accesses this property like that setting it's value to string from getMessage(); ((HttpContext.Current.Handler as System.Web.UI.Page).Master as MasterPage).MessagePlaceholder = getMessage(); which gives me an error like this one Error 3 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition for 'MessagePlaceholder' and no extension method 'MessagePlaceholder' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) What should i do ?

  So i need to figure out how i can get a record count value and use that count as a new value to insert into a table. Ex: In My Stored Procedure @Count int What im looking for @Count to equal "select top (1) _fieldName from _someTable order by _fieldName Desc" Finally insert into _newTable (_fieldName) values (@Count) End I dont have to use a variable, just trying to demonstrate what im really trying to do.   Ok so I'm trying to access the first element of a JSP list, here's what I've come up with so far without any kind of luck: onclick="alert('<%=list[0]%>');" What's the best approach to access the first element and eventually to pass it to a javascript variable/function ? I've heard that the <% %> tags are deprecated and some are suggesting relaying on JSTL/EL how can one use those without having to iterate the entire list and put a breakpoint for the iterators ?

  Is there a possibility to get the name of the column a database entry belongs to? Perhaps I have three columns with column names col1, col2 and col3. Now I want to select for every column the column with the maximum entry, something like this. Select name_of_column(max(col1,col2,col3)). I know that I can ask for the name of the columns by its ordinal position in the information_schema.COLUMNS table but how do I get the ordinal position of a database entry within a table?

  I am trying to set up a search feature on my site that will only return exact matches to keyword entered by the user. So if the user searches "dog" I don't want an article titled "Doggy Style" to appear in the search results (just an example I don't really have an article by that name). This of course does exactly that: SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_title LIKE '%$searchQuery%' $searchQuery here is a PHP variable taken from the user's input form. So is there any way to return only exact matches?

Presumably there is no difference in performance (or is there?), but how do you weigh the explicitness, the conciseness, the clarity, the readability, etc between the two? Note: the variable name b is just used as an example, ala foo and bar.

But I can find no mechanism for getting a NamespaceContext other than implementing it myself. This seems counter-intuitive. Is there any easy way to acquire a NamespaceContext from a document, or to create one, or failing that, to forgo prefixes altogether and specify the xpath with fully qualified names?

  I have the following php form. I am trying to make it so that when the form is loaded, the values will be assigned the appropriate check- variable. This variable will contain either "checked or "". If it contains checked, the way it is displayed with the html should cause the relevant checkbox to be checked. As it is, the variables do not seem to be being passed. When I echo out $deleted or $notice from within the submitinfo branch, they are blank. Furthermore, nothing is being inserted into the database, and I am not getting any database error.
