I have a mercurial repository with numerous branches for stable, development, experimental features etc. However, I've found a bug in a set of core application files that are common to each branch. Is there a way to modify these files, and then push the changes to the common files to all the other branches, without sending any other changes?

Browser Install with Bookmarks

Goal: Install firefox and chrome with a default set of bookmarks on Windows 7 x86. The immediate need is for freshly imaged machines to have bookmarks. So I'm looking for an msi /flag or something to either import bookmarks for a file or import settings from IE. Another possibility it seems is push installers/import actions from GPO on the domain. Seems like this might be best since if stuff changes in the future I can update as needed. I'm open to other options as well.

Rsync with a list of variables

I am trying to write a bash script that will rsync only a specific subset of folders. I am trying to figure out a more slick so that I can just add a variables such as FOLDER1='name of folder in home directory' and then rsync -arvz --delete /home/emka/$FOLDER1/ /home/emka/Desktop/Mount/$FOLDER1 Currently I have FOLDER1 through FOLDER13, but I do not want to have the above line thirteen times. Could someone give me a push on how to do this?

Mercurial repositories hosting with different user access levels

I want to set a few Mercurial 'central' repositories on one machine. There are few things I need to have working though: Each repository should have its own ACL, with different users allowed to push/pull It shouldn't be ssh-based (it shouldn't require users to have shell accounts on that machine) So, I guess that leaves me with some https with basic authentication, right? Are there any working solutions that provide this kind of functions?

Extjs Tooltips, IFrames and IE => Problems

I have an application using OpenLayers, Extjs and GeoExt. My application runs fine, but I need it to be placed inside an IFrame in another page. When doing this, my toolbar becomes responseless in Internet Explorer. The cause is Ext.QuickTips.init();. Comment out this line and everything works fine - except the quick tips ofcourse =) But why is it causing problems? Is it because I'm using it wrong, placing it wrong or just because it doesn't like IE and IFrames? Java: immutability, overuse of stack -- better data structure?

I overused hashSets but it was slow, then changed to Stacks, speed boost-up. Poly's reply uses Collections.emptyList() as immutable list, cutting out excess null-checkers. No Collections.emptyStack(). Combining the words stack and immutability, from the last experiences, gets "immutable stack" (probably not related to functional prog). Java Api 5 for list interface shows that Stack is an implementing class for list and arraylist, here. The java.coccurrent pkg does not have any immutable Stack data structure. The first hinted of misusing stack. The lack of immutabily in the last and poly's book recommendation leads way to list. Something very primitive, fast, no extra layers, with methods like emptyThing(). I mean in such a way, that GUI is described entirely in a human-readable (and human-writable) plain text file (code) code is terse (1 or 2 lines of code per widget/event pair), suitable for scripting structure and operation of the GUI is evident from the code (nesting of widgets and flow of events) details about how to build the GUI are hidden (things like mainloop, attaching event listeners, etc.) auto-layouts are supported (vboxes, hboxes, etc.) As answers suggest, this may be defined as declarative GUI programming, but it is not necessarily such. How do you get XML::Pastor to set xsi:type for programmatically generated elements?

I'm learning how to use Perl as an automation test framework tool for a Java web service and running into trouble generating xml requests from the Pastor generated modules. The problem is that when including a type that extends from the required type for an element, the xsi:type is not included in the generated xml string. WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help. Failed to load Cairo

We're running a Ubuntu Server VM with OpenCPU (that's an API for R). Unfortunately we're unable to get the Cairo R package to play, the error message (from within R) is as follows: unable to load shared object '/usr/lib/R/library/grDevices/libs//cairo.so': /usr/local/lib/libgmodule-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_rec_mutex_lock 2: In png() : failed to load cairo DLL We've tried purging and reinstalling cairo and libcairo and we both tried building the Cairo R package from source as well as using a precompiled version from Michael Rutter's ppas (all seems to work without errors). Unfortunately none of us are real Ubuntu natives and thus we probably did some pretty amateur debugging. Any push in the right direction would be very appreciated. For example, we couldn't figure out how to reinstall whatever libgmodule refers to.

CodeIgniter: Passing variables via URL - alternatives to using GET

I'm new to CodeIgniter and have just discovered the difficulties using the GET method of passing variables via the URL (e.g. domain.com/page.php?var1=1&var2=2). I gather that one approach is to pass the variables in the URI segments but haven't quite figured out how to do that yet as it seems to create the expectation of having a function in the controller named as the specific URI segment???? Anyway Instead of using GET I've decided to use POST by adapting a submit button (disguised as a link) with the variables in hidden input fields. I've created the following solution which seems to work fine, but am wondering whether I'm on the right track here or whether there is an easier way of passing variables via a link within CodeIgniter? Python - Calling a non python program from python?

Hi, I am currently struggling to call a non python program from a python script. I have a ~1000 files that when passed through this C++ program will generate ~1000 outputs. Each output file must have a distinct name. The command I wish to run is of the form: program_name -input -output -o1 -o2 -o3 To date I have tried: import os cwd = os.getcwd() files = os.listdir(cwd) required_files = [] for i in file: if i.endswith('.ttp'): required_files.append(i) So, I have an array of the neccesary files. My problem - how do I iterate over the array and for each entry, pass it to the above command (program_name) as an argument and specify a unique output id for each file? Much appreciated, S :-)

I'm trying to commit some files in my Git repository, and I'm receiving this error. This all started when I ran git rm -rf folder and git rm -rf file and tried to commit the changes. I've since been able to commit and push without these files being deleted from my remote repository, however I'm now completely stuck. The full error is: error: a NUL byte in commit log message not allowed. fatal: failed to write commit object What can I do to fix this? My Google-fu has let me down on this one. Edit: I've just checked out these deleted files, and attempted to commit again, but it's still giving me the same error. Has my Git repo been corrupted or something?

Add an objective @property attribute in objective-c

Does anyone know of a way to add additional attribute types to the @property keyword without modifying the compiler? Or can anyone think of another way to genericize getter/setter creation? Basically, I have a lot of cases in a recent project where it's handy for objects to lazily instantiate their array properties. This is because we have "event" objects that can have a wide variety of collections as properties. Subclassing for particular events is undesirable because many properties are shared, and it would become a usability nightmare. For example, if I had an object with an array of songs, I'd write a getter like the following: - (NSMutableArray *)songs { if (!songs) { songs = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; } return songs; } Rather than writing dozens of these getters, it would be really nice to get the behavior via... @property (nonatomic, retain, lazyGetter) NSMutableArray *songs; Maybe some fancy tricks via #defines or something? Other ideas?

Disk Search / Sort Algorithm

Given a Range of numbers say 1 to 10,000, Input is in random order. Constraint: At any point only 1000 numbers can be loaded to memory. Assumption: Assuming unique numbers. I propose the following efficient , "When-Required-sort Algorithm". We write the numbers into files which are designated to hold particular range of numbers. For example, File1 will have 0 - 999 , File2 will have 1000 - 1999 and so on in random order. If a particular number which is say "2535" is being searched for then we know that the number is in the file3 (Binary search over range to find the file). Then file3 is loaded to memory and sorted using say Quick sort (which is optimized to add insertion sort when the array size is small ) and then we search the number in this sorted array using Binary search. And when search is done we write back the sorted file. So in long run all the numbers will be sorted. Please comment on this proposal.

Padding error when using RSA Encryption in C# and Decryption in Java

Currently I am receiving the following error when using Java to decrypt a Base64 encoded RSA encrypted string that was made in C#: javax.crypto.BadPaddingException: Not PKCS#1 block type 2 or Zero padding The setup process between the exchange from .NET and Java is done by creating a private key in the .NET key store then from the PEM file extracted, created use keytool to create a JKS version with the private key. Java loads the already created JKS and decodes the Base64 string into a byte array and then uses the private key to decrypt. iPhone / Objective-C: NSMutableArray writeToFile won't write to file. Always returns NO

I'm trying to serialize two NSMutableArrays of NSObjects that implement the NSCoding protocol. However it works for one (stacks) and not the other (cards). I have the following block of code: -(void) saveCards { NSArray* paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString* documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString* cardsFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"cards.state"]; NSString* stacksFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"stacks.state"]; BOOL c = [rootStack.cards writeToFile:cardsFile atomically:YES]; BOOL s = [rootStack.stacks writeToFile:stacksFile atomically:YES]; } I step through this method using the debugger, and after the last two lines of code run, I check the values of the two BOOLs. BOOL c is NO and BOOL s is YES. The stacks array is actually empty (which is probably why it works). The cards array has contents. Why is it that the array with contents is failing? I can't figure this out. I've looked through numerous threads on SOF, each of them say the problem is because the protection level of the files they were writing were preventing them from writing. This is not my problem, as I'm writing to the Documents folder. I've double and tripple checked that neither rootStack.cards nor rootStack.stacks is nil. And I've checked that cards does indeed have content. Fairly new to the Google Maps Api. I've got an array of data that I want to cycle through and plot on a map. Seems fairly simple, but all the multi-marker tutorials I have found are quite complex. I'm going through a Fortran code, and one bit has me a little puzzled. There is a subroutine, say SUBROUTINE SSUB(X,...) REAL*8 X(0:N1,1:N2,0:N3-1),... ... RETURN END Which is called in another subroutine by: CALL SSUB(W(0,1,0,1),...) where W is a 'working array'. It appears that a specific value from W is passed to the X, however, X is dimensioned as an array. What's going on?

So far, so good! As you can see the plugins are loaded from a folder, and within the folder are several dll's that are needed but the plugin. My problem is that I can't get the plugin to 'see' the dlls, it just searches the launching applications startup folder, but not the folder where the plugin was loaded from. I have tried several methods: 1. Changing the Current Directory to the plugins folder. 2. Using an inter-op call to SetDllDirectory 3. Adding an entry in the registry to point to a folder where I want it to look (see code below) None of these methods work. What am I missing? As I load the dll plugin dynamically, it does not seem to obey any of the above mentioned methods. What else can I try? Stack data storage order

When talking about a stack in either computing or "real" life we usually assume a "first on, last off" type of functionality. Because the idea of a stack is based around something in the physical world, does it matter how the data in the stack is stored? I notice in a lot of examples that the storage of the stack data is quite often done using an array and the newest item added to the stack is placed at the bottom of the array. (like adding a new plate to an existing stack of plates except putting it underneath the other plates rather than on top). As a paradigm, does it matter in what order the data is stored within the stack as long as the operation of the stack acts as expected?
