• Get a value from hashtable by a part of its key

  Hi. Say I have a Hashtable<String, Object> with such keys and values: apple => 1 orange => 2 mossberg => 3 I can use the standard get method to get 1 by "apple", but what I want is getting the same value (or a list of values) by a part of the key, for example "ppl". Of course it may yield several results, in this case I want to be able to process each key-value pair. So basically similar to the LIKE '%ppl%' SQL statement, but I don't want to use a (in-memory) database just because I don't want to add unnecessary complexity. What would you recommend?

• Facebook like iframe ignores my specified href

  I have Javascript that imputes (computes and injects) HTML into my DOM for the Facebook "Like" function. I need to specify a "canonical" URL because the actual URL doesn't reflect all the DOM manipulations that have been made (driven by user activity on the Web "page"). Alas, Facebook's code doesn't use the url I supply but the window.location value (which has #hash aspects that influence the page's presentation, but that aren't accessible to the server). Anyway... why is FB's code ignoring the url I give to it? • Wireshark Plugin: Dissecting Payloads With Multiple Packets Per UDP Frame

  I am writing a Wireshark plugin to dissect a protocol that places multiple application-level packets in a single UDP frame. There is no enclosing protocol that indicates how many packets there are in the frame. So essentially, the payload coming down the wire will look like this: uint64 sequence1 uint64 data1 uint8 flags1 uint64 sequence2 uint64 data2 uint8 flags2 : : : uint64 sequence_n uint64 data_n uint8 flags_n In my server code that actually processes this information, I simply loop through the frame until I reach the end. In looking through the plugins included with the wireshark source code, I didn't see any protocols that did any looping like this. I know other protocols pack multiple payloads per frame. What is the cannonical or standard way to handle protocols like this in a Wireshark dissector?

  I have already setup syncing with Microsoft Sync Framework, and now I need to add fields to a table. How do I re-provision the databases? The setup is exceedingly simple: Two SQL Express 2008 servers The scope includes the entire database Using Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Synchronizing by direct access. Using the standard new SqlSyncProvider Do I make the structural changes at both ends? Or do I only change one server and let Sync Framework somehow propagate the change? Do I need to delete the _tracking tables and/or the stored procedures? How about the triggers? Has anyone been using the Sync Framework? Please help.

• rails contoller defaults to respond with application/xml in production

  I have a standard contacts_controller.rb with index action that responds as follows: respond_to do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @contacts } end In development, it works as intended: when I browse to http://localhost:3000/contacts, I get an html response. But, when I start the app using capistrano on a remote ubuntu server and browse to the same url, I get a xml response? If I go to http://remote_host:8000/contacts.html, then I see the html response. If I comment out the format.xml { render :xml => @contacts }, then I see the desired html response. Pretty sure I'm missing something subtle about difference between rails development and production modes? Any ideas about what I'm overlooking? Thanks, - Dave

The import of standard product is successful but not for the product with customs options. For customs option, missing "info_buyRequest" valu in database. The technical support of magento we responded "the import process currently can't handle importing products with custom options". Magento use custom options when ordering a product with customs options on website. What features do magento use to fill in the fields "info_buyRequest" and "Product_options" when ordering? • Working with multiple GIT severs

  Hello, I have a question. Is it possible to set up a system so that you have a private GIT server that you host, which automatically syncs with a remote one, hosted by a site like Sourceforge, and then you can commit your local to the private GIT server, and then when you have to merge the changes from your private wip branches that are on your private GIT over to the master/branch/tag from the public GIT, and then push the change to the public GIT? I ask this because I have a lot of personal work I would like to get working before putting it up for the public to see, and I'm shifting between several computers/operating systems in the process. If this is not possible in standard GIT, are there any other options that would allow me to do this? Thanks, Peter

• llvm/clang re-compilation with itself

  After reading many questions on here, I decided to give clang a go, and installed the svn version on Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit). I was expecting issues, but it all installed smoothly with no warnings. I noticed though that when re-running the configure script, if clang/clang++ is in your path it will choose this over gcc/g++ for its own compilation. Is it a good idea to recompile llvm/clang with itself? I know this is absolutely standard with gcc, but I've read that clang's C++ implementation isn't quite good enough yet (maybe this is out of date info...).

  Currently I am writing an application where I have multiple users. They have data that should only be visible to them and not the other authenticated users in the system. I also have administrators who manage the system and have access to all of the information. What is the best way to limit users to their data without limiting admin users? Currently I am using a callback to limit the queries by user, but the admin will get the same limits. So I need to know a better way to do it. More importantly, the right way to do it. For example, I want the standard user to be able to see their user information only and be limited to CRUD operations on their information only. The admin, however, should be able to see ALL users and CRUD ALL user data. Any ideas?

• Where is a good place/way to store Windows config files for Python scripts?

  I have a script/program I am working on that requires a configuration file (I am using ConfigParser). On linux, I will default to store these variables in ~/.myscript using the os.getenv('HOME') function. With Windows, I know I can use os.getenv('USERPROFILE') to find the User's "home" directory, however, is it a good idea to save a hidden file that way (ie, with the name .myscript)? I don't use Windows, obviously, but wanted to be smart about it for those who do. Is there a standard place/way to store these config variables on Windows?

• Another floating point question

  I have read most of the posts on here regarding floating point, and I understand the basic underlying issue that using IEEE 754 (and just by the nature of storing numbers in binary) certain fractions cannot be represented. I am trying to figure out the following: If both Python and JavaScript use the IEEE 754 standard, why is it that executing the following in Python .1 + .1 Results in 0.20000000000000001 (which is to be expected) Where as in Javascript (in at least Chrome and Firefox) the answer is .2 However performing .1 + .2 In both languages results in 0.30000000000000004 In addition, executing var a = 0.3; in JavaScript and printing a results in 0.3 Where as doing a = 0.3 in Python results in 0.29999999999999999 I would like to understand the reason for this difference in behavior. In addition, many of the posts on OS link to a JavaScript port of Java's BigDecimal, but the link is dead. Does anyone have a copy?

• What are Class methods in Python for?

  I'm teaching myself Python and my most recent lesson was that Python is not Java, and so I've just spent a while turning all my Class methods into functions. I now realise that I don't need to use Class methods for what I would done with static methods in Java, but now I'm not sure when I would use them. All the advice I can find about Python Class methods is along the lines of newbies like me should steer clear of them, and the standard documentation is at its most opaque when discussing them. Does anyone have a good example of using a Class method in Python or at least can someone tell me when Class methods can be sensibly used?

Were not the databases themselves the units of billing? I mean, I thought that servers were just like logical containers and you were charged per number and size of databases. How servers are billed?   I cannot read and write extended characters (French accented characters, for example) to a text file using the standard InputStreamReader methods shown in the Android API examples. When I read back the file using: InputStreamReader tmp = new InputStreamReader(in); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(tmp); String str; while ((str = reader.readLine()) != null) { ... the string read is truncated at the extended characters instead of at the end-of-line. The second half of the string then comes on the next line. I'm assuming that I need to persist my data as UTF-8 but I cannot find any examples of that, and I'm new to Java. Can anyone provide me with an example or a link to relevant documentation?

  I have a string, dictionary in the form: ('the head', {'exploded': (3.5, 1.0), 'the': (5.0, 1.0), "puppy's": (9.0, 1.0), 'head': (6.0, 1.0)}) Each parentheses is a tuple which corresponds to (score, standard deviation). I'm taking the average of just the first integer in each tuple. I've tried this: def score(string, d): for word in d: (score, std) = d[word] d[word]=float(score),float(std) if word in string: word = string.lower() number = len(string) return sum([v[0] for v in d.values()]) / float(len(d)) if len(string) == 0: return 0 When I run: print score('the head', {'exploded': (3.5, 1.0), 'the': (5.0, 1.0), "puppy's": (9.0, 1.0), 'head': (6.0, 1.0)}) I should get 5.5 but instead I'm getting 5.875. Can't figure out what in my function is not allowing me to get the correct answer.

• Send mail from a Windows script

  I would like to send mail from a script on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. I think the server setup is pretty much out of the box. The mail server is an Exchange one, and when you're on the internal network you can use plain old SMTP. I have done it from my machine with Perl, but unfortunately Perl is not available on the server. Is there an easy way of doing this from a .bat-file or any other way that doesn't require installing some additional software? Edit: Thanks for the quick replies. The "blat" thingie would probably work fine but with wscript I don't have to use a separate binary. I didn't see PhiLho's post the first time I edited and selected an answer. No need for me to duplicate the code here. Just save the script to a file, say sendmail.vbs, and then call it from the command prompt like so: wscript sendmail.vbs

• How to store and compare time-zone sensitive times

  I have a data structure where an entity has times stored as an int (minutes into the day) for fast comparison. The entity also has a Foreign Key reference back to a TimeZone table which contains the .NET CLR ID Name and it's Standard Time/Daylight Time acronyms. Since this information is stored as time-zone insensitive - I was wondering how in LINQ to SQL I could convert this into a UTC DateTime for comparison against other times that will be in UTC. Just to be clear this conversion has to be done server-side so that I can execute filtering on the SQL Server and not the client. I am using .NET 3.5 SP1 and SQL Server 2008.

• Is there an easy way to concatenate several lines of text into a string without constantly appending

  So I essentially need to do this: String text = "line1\n"; text += "line2\n"; text += "line3\n"; useString( text ); There is more involved, but that's the basic idea. Is there anything out there that might let me do something more along the lines of this though? DesiredStringThinger text = new DesiredStringThinger(); text.append( "line1" ); text.append( "line2" ); text.append( "line3" ); useString( text.toString() ); Obviously, it does not need to work exactly like that, but I think I get the basic point across. There is always the option of writing a loop which processes the text myself, but it would be nice if there is a standard Java class out there that already does something like this rather than me needing to carry a class around between applications just so I can do something so trivial.   Some time ago, I came across a piece of code, that used some piece of standard java functionality to locate the classes that implemented a given interface. I know the the functions were hidden in some non logical place, but they could be used for other classes as the package name implied. Back then I did not need it, so I forgot about it, but now I do, and I can't seem to find the functions again. • Is it possible to serve an ASPX page without it setting a cookie on your browser?

  Hi, we're in the process of trying to speed up the performance of our website by serving static content from a cookieless domain. That seems to be going well, but I have a new question: I know that it's "static content" that we're talking about when serving it from a cookieless domain, but we also have static content being served by ASPX pages, specifically images. For example: domain.com/resizeImages.aspx?src=images/image123.jpg&width=400&height=400 Pretty standard stuff, and although it's being served by managed code, it's still a static image. So my question is: Is it ok to serve the resizeImages.aspx image from our cookieless/static domain? And if so, how do I go about stopping ASP.NET from setting a ANONYMOUSASPX cookie every time I try? • What is the most efficient way to encode an arbitrary GUID into readable ASCII (33-127)?

  Dear ladies and sirs. The standard string representation of GUID takes about 36 characters. Which is very nice, but also really wasteful. I am wondering, how to encode it in the shortest possible way using all the ASCII characters in the range 33-127. The naive implementation produces 22 characters, simply because 128 bits / 6 bits yields 22. Huffman encoding is my second best, the only question is how to choose the codes.... Any more ideas? Thanks. P.S. The encoding must be lossless, of course.

• html5media & flowplayer wmode issues...

  I'm working on our new homepage and need to implement a solution that will run a video across iphone/ipad and the standard web browsers. I found a pretty decent solution with html5media - http://code.google.com/p/html5media/ but ran across an issue with a jquery dropdown falling behind the the swf object (this only happens on FF & IE - works fine on Safari & Chrome because it's loading mp4 instead of a swf object). I know the issue is the wmode setting but can not for the life of me figure out where to set it in the html5media (http://html5media.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/html5media.min.js). I'm hoping someone can help me or possibly give me a better solution of implementing the video. I am wondering how big application/ platform break down there application in to multiple module and how they able to manage modules dependencies. For example in some E-commerce application they tend to break down it in various modules like pricing,promotions,shipping.import/export and many more. when we develop those application we hardly think about the underlying modules and how they have been designed to provides functionalists. Most of those module are not web-applications but are standalone module and not deployed in the web-app as jar files. can any one help me to understand how they break up things or is there any standard way to do this.any help/resources to get insight will really be helpful
