• Assign a unique client ID to each <rich:dataTable /> row?

  I'm relatively new to working with the UI in Seam, so I'm hoping there is something simple I can replace the three instances of UNIQUE_ID with in the following example (such as #{object.uniqueId}). The goal is to have a <rich:dataTable /> wherein each row has the ability to show/hide a <rich:modalPanel /> with more details about the particular object instance. <rich:dataTable var="object" value="#{bean.myObject}"> <rich:column> <h:outputText value="#{object.summary}" /> </rich:column> <rich:column> <a onclick="Richfaces.showModalPanel('UNIQUE_ID');" href="#">Show Details in ModalPanel</a> <a4j:form> <rich:modalPanel id="UNIQUE_ID" > <a onclick="Richfaces.hideModalPanel('UNIQUE_ID');" href="#">Hide This ModalPanel</a> <h:outputText value="#{object.details}" /> </rich:modalPanel> </a4j:form> </rich:column> </rich:dataTable> If I only had one link/modalPanel pair, this would obviously be trivial, but I don't know what to do within the scope of the <rich:dataTable />'s iteration. Also, in case it complicates things further, the page will also contain many <rich:dataTable />'s, each implementing this behavior.

• Dropdown in PHP

  Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. Having problems with the following piece of code that for a drop down: echo '<form action="" method="get">'; echo '<p>Information:<br />'; echo '<select name="acctno" style="width: 100px;">'; foreach ($this->account_names as $acctno => $acctname) { echo '<option value="'.$acctno.'">'.$acctname.'</option>'; } echo '</select> <input type="submit" value="view" />'; echo '</form>'; Worked perfectly fine on Firefox and Chrome; however there is a problem with Internet Explorer. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl". • C#.NET DataGridView - update database

  I know this is a basic function of the DataGridView, but for some reason, I just can't get it to work. I just want the DataGridView on my Windows form to submit any changes made to it to the database when the user clicks the "Save" button. On form load, I populate the DataGridView and that's working fine. In my save function, I basically have the following (I've trimmed out some of the code around it to get to the point): using (SqlDataAdapter ruleTableDA = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT rule.fldFluteType AS [Flute], rule.fldKnife AS [Knife], rule.fldScore AS [Score], rule.fldLowKnife AS [Low Knife], rule.fldMatrixScore AS [Matrix Score], rule.fldMatrix AS [Matrix] FROM dbo.tblRuleTypes rule WHERE rule.fldMachine_ID = '1003'", con)) { SqlCommandBuilder commandBuilder = new SqlCommandBuilder(ruleTableDA); DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt = RuleTable.DataSource as DataTable; ruleTableDA.Fill(dt); ruleTableDA.Update(dt); } Okay, so I edited the code to do the following: build the commands, create a DataTable based on the DataGridView (RuleTable), fill the DataAdapter with the DataTable, and update the database. Now ruleTableDA.Update(dt) is throwing the exception "Concurrency violation: the UpdateCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records." Thanks very much!

• Random Pairings that don't Repeat

  This little project / problem came out of left field for me. Hoping someone can help me here. I have some rough ideas but I am sure (or at least I hope) a simple, fairly efficient solution exists. Thanks in advance.... pseudo code is fine. I generally work in .NET / C# if that sheds any light on your solution. Given: A pool of n individuals that will be meeting on a regular basis. I need to form pairs that have not previously meet. The pool of individuals will slowly change over time. For the purposes of pairing, (A & B) and (B & A) constitute the same pair. The history of previous pairings is maintained. For the purpose of the problem, assume an even number of individuals. For each meeting (collection of pairs) and individual will only pair up once. Is there an algorithm that will allow us to form these pairs? Ideally something better than just ordering the pairs in a random order, generating pairings and then checking against the history of previous pairings. In general, randomness within the pairing is ok.

• C# Multi CheckboxList update inserts checked records but doesn't delete unchecked records

  I have a multi checkboxlist on a formview. Both use queries in a tableadapter. I'm using VS 2012. When the user updates the form, I use the following code to update the checkbox data. If a user checks a new box, a new record is inserted correctly, however if the user unchecks a box the existing record is not deleted. The delete query works fine if I run it from the query builder in the table adapter, it's reaching the expected line in the code correctly, all values are correct and I receive no errors. I use a similar query to delete records when the form level data is deleted which works fine. The very last line is the one that doesn't work.   I have 3 tables: subcontracts, companies and contacts. Each table has a active_status flags which shows that the item is still active (hasn't been deleted). Each contact has a company_id field which stores the id of the contact's company. Each subcontract has a company_id field which stores the subcontract's company. Each company has a company_id field which holds its guid and a primary_company field, b/c the company could be a subsidiary. If it's a subsidiary, the primary_company field holds the id of the primary company. I have a subcontract form. On the form, I have a drop-down of contacts which are stored in a contact table. Currently the drop-down lists all contacts. I would like to have the drop-down only list contacts which belong to the subcontract's company or any of that company's subsidiaries. I have the following query which I use elsewhere in the program to pass a company_id and get its subsidiaries. public IQueryable<company> GetSubsidiaryCompanies(Guid id) { return from c in db.companies where c.primary_company == id && c.active_status == true select c; } This is my current contact selection public IQueryable<contact> GetContacts() { return from c in db.contacts where c.active_status == true orderby c.contact_name select c; } What I need to do is pass it the subcontract.company_id and then only return the contacts where contact.company_id == subcontract.company_id or contact.company_id == one of the subsidiary ids.

• Canonical resource for forms-based design in ASP.NET MVC?

  Is there a resource on the web that describes various form scenarios in ASP.NET MVC, and gives example solutions within a sensible, consistent design philosophy? Examples of such scenarios might be: One-to-many forms, like invoice data-entry forms. Foreign-table forms such as Add New User in a form that requires specifying a user Forms that require dynamic interaction, using Ajax or JSON. Popup forms Forms requiring multiple data records to be input, without postbacks. Note that there is considerable conceptual and technological overlap among these example scenarios. I am aware that there is a vast patchwork quilt of available technologies and examples out there that provide partial solutions and pieces of solutions, such as jQuery Ajax, CSS, and so forth. But I would like guidance in using these technologies in more effective and consistent ways. I am not considering web forms integration with an ASP.NET MVC application; I would still like my applications to be pure MVC. Nor am I, at the moment, considering a paid solution like Telerik. But I would like to know if someone has already done some of the work combining these technologies into a consistent, cohesive whole, that follows a sensible design philosophy. (an open source framework, perhaps?)

• Link click does nothing after ajax switching?

  An odd case I'm trying to figure out here. I'm trying to design a mailbox system, and making some of the options ajax-y. Here's the scenario: We have a page with 2 tabs, inbox and compose. Inbox is a essentially a list of links of the form mailbox.php?msg=xxx. Clicking on the inbox or compose tabs does an ajax switch. So, let's say we're on an message page: mailbox.php?msg=123 I click on "compose" - it ajax switches to a compose form. I change my mind, click on "inbox" - it goes back to a list of messages. Note, the url has not changed at this point (all has been done through ajax). I click on the same message as before. It should go back into that message. However, nothing happens! The url it should go to (mailbox.php?msg=123) IS the url showing in the address bar, but, due to the earlier ajax activity, it's showing the inbox. Thoughts on how to resolve this? And, out of curiosity, an explanation? Normally, clicking on a link that takes you to a page you're already on will reload the page. Thanks!

• Open PDF Content files in ASP.NET MVC 2

  I want to provide simple href links to my PDF forms that reside in my Forms folder. I have a created a simple Index.aspx and FormController Index action that simple iterates through the list of PDF files using my FormMetaData.xml file. The links get created just fine but when you click on the links I get a 404 exception. That looks like this: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /Forms/ccindteamgolfform.pdf Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4927; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4927 This seems like this should open up a new browser window with the PDF in it but perhaps I am making a bad assumption. The PDF content files have Build Action of Content and Copy to Output set to Copy Always. Here is an example output html for the link from my Index.aspx page: <span class="form"> <a href="Forms/ccindteamgolfform.pdf" target="_blank"> <span class="description">Entry Form</span></span> I must be missing something because this does not work. Do I need to add a MapRoute for these documents? Or am I missing something else with the routing? This seems like it should not be that difficult.

• Cannot edit values of DataGridView bound to a BindingList

  Hello community, I have trouble editing a databound bindinglist. Let me illustrate it with the following: Say I have the Person class: public Class Person{ private string m_firstname; private string m_lastname; public string FirstName{get;set;} public string LastName{get;set;} public Person{ ... } } I then have a containing class called Population: public class Population{ private BindingList<Person> m_lstPerson = new BindingList<Person>(); private string m_countryName; public BindingList<Person> ListPerson{get; set;} public string CountryName { get; set; } } I then have on one form a first datagridview with DataSource = m_lstPopulation (BindingList). The binding works like a charm when working with the Population objects. When I double click, it opens up a dialog form showing the object details. One tab in the details holds a datagridview bound to that population's ListPerson. The second datagridview displays fine. However, I cannot edit or add cells in this datagridview. None of the columns is set to read-only. In fact, both datagridview have just about the same parameters. What am I missing? It seems that a lock has been placed on the Population object so that its inner fields cannot be edited... Please advise. Thanks.

  I am still redoing and getting rid of old mysql_* commands in my code. And of course logout is used in this form on my sites: public function logout() { unset($_SESSION['user_id']); unset($_SESSION['user_name']); } But I think PDO has different way of handling session? I did not find any so what is it can i somehow add $_SESSION in PDO withou changing code much? I am using variables $_SESSION['user_name'] and $_SESSION['user_id'] in all over my web project. Summary: 1) How to use sessions in PDO correctly? 2) What is difference between using $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); and $stmt->fetchAll(); Thank you.

• C# How to commit a TextBox?

  Hi, In a form, I have a TextBox Binding an Object on its member property "Title". Along with it is a "Save" button to test the binding. Seems like the underlying object property does not get updated unless the textbox loses focus. But there no form.ActiveControl.Blur() for use. Besides, this does not seem like a sound hack. Anyway to do this better? Thanks. EDIT: Sorry for not being clear. My question is in the title: "How to commit a TextBox". I use the term "commit" from the DataGridView commit and BindingSource commit. And it's in WinForms. (Have never worked with WPF, so it didn't occur to me. Sorry). The actual scenario I have is I have a bunch of TextBox binded to property of a single Object. The user enters values in all the TextBox and when the user clicks save (toolbar button), the last TextBox is still in focus (or in editing mode) hence the save will not capture the last value in the last textbox. I want to find the correct way to "commit" the textbox value just before saving. Thanks.

They are obviously being uploaded as rack/multipart but the way that I'm iterating over my params hash must be causing the problem. I could REALLY use some help, so I can stop pulling out my hair. In the admin, TranscriptPages is a StackedInline of the Transcript Admin. To do this I’m overridding Transcript’s save method: def save(self): if self.doPagination: #do stuff super(Transcript, self).save() else: super(Transcript, self).save() The problem = When Transcript.doPagination is True, I want to manually delete all of the TranscriptPages that reference this Transcript so I can then create them again from scratch. That choice is not one of the available choices.'] ... and this is the last thing in the stack trace before the exception is raised: .../django/forms/models.py in save_existing_objects pk_value = form.fields[pk_name].clean(raw_pk_value) Other attempts to fix: t = self.transcriptpages_set.all().delete() (where self = Transcript from the save() method) looping over t (above) and deleting each item individually making a post_save signal on TranscriptPages that calls the delete method Any ideas? How does the Admin do it? UPDATE: Every once in a while as I'm playing around with the code I can get a different error (below), but then it just goes away and I can't replicate it again... until the next random time. Therefore I'm expecting the buffer to be one or the other, however I seem to only be returning 0 or equivalent. Does the code above look like it will return what I expect or should my variable types be different? The conversion using "atoi" may be an issue. Any thought would be much appreciated.

• spring 3 uploadify giving 404 Error

  I am using Spring 3 and implementing Uploadify. The problem is, the files are updating properly but it is giving HTTP Error 404, on completion of file upload. I tried every possible solution, but none of them works. The files are uploaded. Values are storing in DB properly, only that i am getting HTTP Error 404. • How to open AsyncTask from a Thread

  In my application I have created a SplashScreen that will b shown for 5 Seconds and after that it executes an if else case depending upon the values stored in the Preference file. If Preference file contains values then the AsyncTask code will run else the Login form will load. When i try to run my application. The thread is going to the Login form with the help of intent but when it comes to AsyncTask my application shows a force close error message. The form is inserted nicely, and the click events are fired, checking the boxes that need to be checked and firing the second ajax, since the checked attribute of the checkbox was initially false. What's curdling my cheese is if I UNCHECK one of those boxes. Despite e.preventDefault(), the checked attribute is set to false BEFORE the test, so the if statement always executes the else statement. I've also tried this with $.is(':checked'), so I'm completely baffled. It appears that unchecked - checked state reads the original state, but checked - unchecked doesn't. Any help?
