  Hi, I just downloaded xcode 3.2.3 (seperate directory installation) and ios 4 to my iphone. I'm having a problem with networkActivityIndicatorVisible. This works on 3.1.3, both phone and simulator. My code is (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; UIApplication* app2 = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; app2.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; [self loadSources]; // Loads data in table view app2.networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; } I get the same effect in the simulator and on the phone both with ios 4.o The networkActivity indicator becomes visible for a fraction of a second and then invisible and this is done after loading the data for the tableView. • How do I apply multiple rotation transforms on a Raphael text object?

  I have a Raphael text object that I would like to rotate around an axis some distance away and also rotate the text accordingly so it stays horizontal. I know this is possible using SVG transformation matrices, but the author of Raphael has stated that they won't be a part of the toolkit anytime soon. Here's some code of what I'd like to do: txt_obj = paper.text(100, 0, "Hello!"); txt_obj.rotate(90, 100, 100); // rotate text so it is sideways at (200,100) txt_obj.rotate(-90); // rotate text back to horizontal Unfortunately, the second rotate command obliterates the translation and rotation accomplished by the first. Ideally I'd like to animate the operation, but I'll take it one step at a time for right now.

• .net web service: Can't add service reference, only web reference

  I have an existing project that consumes web services. One was added as a service reference, and the other as a web reference. I don't recall why one was added as a web reference, but perhaps it's because I couldn't get it to work! The existing service reference for the one web service works fine, so it's not a .net version issue. I can successfully create a service reference for the second web service, but none of the methods are available. The .wsdl shows the schema, but the Reference.vb shows only the Namespace, and none of the methods. To clarify, these are two different 3rd party web service providers. We'd like to move to the service reference so we have more control over the configuration as we're having various issues with timeouts. Anyone come across this before? Edit Does it matter that there are two services at the address?

• Stop Duplicate Ajax Submisions?

  Hi I am wondering what is the best way to stop duplciate submissions when using jquery and ajax? I come up with 2 possible ways but not sure if these are the only 2. On Ajax start disable all buttons till request is done. 2 problems I see with this though is I use jquery model dialog so I don't know how easy it would be to disable those button as I not sure if they have id's. Second I if the the request hangs the user has really no way to try again since all the buttons are disabled. I am looking into something called AjaxQueue at this time I have no clue if it is what I need or how it works since the site where the plugin is apparently down for maintenance. http://docs.jquery.com/AjaxQueue

For performance I'm going to use no relational dbms (each request could cost lot of instructions in relational dbms like mysql) - so i can't use DAL. My question is: how web2py is working with a big traffic, is it work concurrently? I'm consider to use web2py or Gork - Zope, How is working zodb(Z Object Database) with a lot of data? Is there some comparison with object-relational postgresql? Could you advice me please.

• UINavigationController back button half works in iPad landscape orientation

  In an iPad application with a UINavigationController, everything works in portrait mode but in landscape mode the back button sometimes only goes back half a level. That is to say, on the first press the title bar animates as if it was popping a controller, and on the second press it animates the content popping. Has anyone found a solution to this? The contradictory solution in this question did not help. • libssh2 port forward

  In extension of this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1580750/example-code-of-libssh2-being-used-for-port-forwarding I was wondering if there's an "easier" way to connect to the locally binded addr:port. From the link: you bind a remote port and list it locally, you accept incoming data from the port and send it to another socket (namely the local addr:port), after which I'd like to connect to the local addr:port. Is there a way to skip the "send it to another" step and direct the data directly for my "connect to localhost" ? There are two parts to why I want this, first, it seems excessive, and in the spirit of piping, I wouldn't be surprised if it was possible. Second, since I'm trying to connect to a localhost'ed bound port forward, all code is in the same thread, making a continiously getting data-sending data, and polling the sending data from another socket, a bit tricky. • Thrift client-server multiple roles

  Hi, this is my first question, so sorry if the form is wrong! I'm trying to make thrift server (python) and client (c++). However I need to exchange messages in both direction. Client should register (call server's function and wait), and server should listen on same port for N (N- 100k) incoming connections (clients). After some conditions are satisfied, server needs to call functions on each client and collect results and interpret them. I'm little confused, and first questions is "can this be done in Thrift"? Second question is related to mechanism that will allow me bidirectional communication. I guess that I will need two services. One with client's functions other with server's. But I'm confused with calling code. I understand one way communication (calling functions from server), but with calling functions from client side I have a problem. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

  Having trouble getting the correct bounds for my iPad application when launching it in landscape mode. I have the proper keys set in my Info.plist file, and my view controllers launch properly in landscape (and portrait, natch). In my applicationDidFinishLaunching: method I'm calling a selector after a 3 second delay, and that method makes a call to [[UIScreen applicationFrame]`, but it's returning me a portrait frame (ie height width). Does anyone know how to fix this? It smells like a bug to me (if so I'll file a radar), but if it's intended behaviour, where is it documented?

  Fellows, I'm going crazy with looks like a really stupid problem. I'm trying to build a simple example using PostSharp as a log AOP utility. I've not installed PostSharp, and I don't want to, I want to reference the necessaries DLLs, change my .csproj and see everything working. Change the project and add references was kind of easy, byt just after adding the LogAttribute to a method I got two errors: Error 1 'Log4PostSharp.LogAttribute' is not an attribute class C:\Dev\LogWithPostsharp\LogWithPostsharpCmd\Program.cs 17 10 LogWithPostsharpCmd Error 2 The type 'PostSharp.Extensibility.MulticastAttribute' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'PostSharp.Public, Version=1.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b13fd38b8f9c99d7'. C:\Dev\LogWithPostsharp\LogWithPostsharpCmd\Program.cs 18 22 LogWithPostsharpCmd The first error really looks like consequence of the second, but here is the deal: the PostSharp.Public.* simply doesn't exist in the downloaded .zip. • How do I share a WiX fragment in two WiX projects?

  We have a WiX fragment in a file SomeDialog.wxs that prompts the user for some information. It's referenced in another fragment in InstallerUI.wxs file that controls the dialog order. Of course, Product.wxs is our main file. Works great. Now I have a second Visual Studio 2008 Wix 3.0 Project for the .MSI of another application and it needs to ask the user for the same information. I can't seem to figure out the best way to share the file so that changing the information requested will result in both .MSIs getting the new behavior. I honestly can't tell if a merge module, an .wsi (include) or a .wixlib is the right solution. I would have hoped to find a simple example of someone doing this but I have failed thus far. Edit: Based on Rob Mensching's wixlib blog entry, a wixlib may be the answer, but I am still searching for an example of how to do this.

  I have 2 movie clips in my scene, one is charlie brown running and another is lucy lifting a football. The movie clip instances are aptly named: lucyLifting and charlieRunning. When I get to frame 75, I run the following code: stop(); trace(lucyLifting); trace(charlieRunning); lucyLifing.stop(); charlieRunning.stop(); and I get the following output: [object MovieClip] null Why isn't it recognizing my second movie clip instance?   does not compile. Indeed: even in 1.5, this api, getIntent(), is already listed as deprecated. The error message I get complains that getIntent() does not return a String, but setCurrentTab() expects a string. If I guess and change the line to read: "tabHost.setCurrentTab(1); // was setCurrentTab(getIntent())", then it compiles, builds, but does not run. I get the "stopped unexpectedly" error message from the emulator. I cannot even get Log.d to output, so it seems that it stops 'unexpectedly' very early. So the first and main question is: what is the correct fix to "tabHost.setCurrentTab(getIntent())" in the final line of OnCreate() in http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html? The second and simpler question is: did I guess right in replacing 'mTabHost' with tabHost in the one place where that occurs?

  Hello, I'm trying to configure a Tomcat server with SSL. I've generated a keypair thus: $ keytool -genkeypair -alias tomcat -keyalg RSA -keystore keys Next I generate a certificate signing request: $ keytool -certreq -keyalg RSA -alias tomcat -keystore keys -file tomcat.csr Then I copy-paste the contents of tomcat.csr into a form on Thawte's website, asking for a trial SSL certificate. In return I get two certificates delimited with -----BEGIN ... -----END, that I save under tomcat.crt and thawte.crt. (Thawte calls the second certificate a 'Thawte Test CA Root' certificate). When I try to import either of them it fails: $ keytool -importcert -alias tomcat -file tomcat.crt -keystore keys Enter keystore password: keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Failed to establish chain from reply $ keytool -importcert -alias thawte -file thawtetest.crt -keystore keys Enter keystore password: keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Input not an X.509 certificate Adding the -trustcacerts option to either of these commands doesn't change anything either. Any idea what I am doing wrong here?

  I need to display incremented single characters to denote footnotes in a table of data in a JSP. In Java I would normally have a char variable and just increment it, or convert an int to a char by casting it (e.g. (char)(i + 97) to convert a 0-based index to a-z). I can't figure out how to do this in expression language short of writing my own JSTL function. Does anyone know how to convert an int to char in EL? Or how to increment a char variable in EL? Or possibly even a better technique to do what I'm trying to do in JSP/EL? Example of what I need to be able to produce: a mydata b myotherdata ... a first footnote b second footnote

  I am developing a simple game on iPhone and I started with a View based application, and through the UIViewController I am loading a custom UIView that contains some more UIViews and some UIImageViews. I want to detect touch events on some of the UIImageViews, but I wasn't able so far. I've created a second project for testing purposes and figured that UIImageViews handle touch events when the hierarchy is like : UIViewController - UIView - UIImageView, but when it's like : UIViewController - UIView - UIView - UIImageView they are not detected. Notes: - userInteractionEnabled is YES in all cases - all UIViews and UIImageViews I mention above are custom subclasses. Can you think of any reason why, when a custom UIImageView gets deeper in the view hierarchy can't receive touch events?
