• ASP.NET application/web service not working on Windows Vista/IIS 7: access right problem?

  I have a .NET 3.5 based web service running at http://localhost/serivce.svc/. Then I have an ASP.NET application running at http://localhost/myApp. In Application_Load my application reads some XML configuration from the web service. That works fine on my machine, but: On Windows Vista with IIS 7 the request to the web services fails. The web service can be accessed via the browser without any problem. I configured the app pool of my application to run as admin. I added the admin to the IIS_USRS group, but it still cannot access the web service. impersonate=true/false seems not to make a difference.

  I would like to get a user's group memberships in an ActiveDirectory, without being in the domain.   The query below should return records that either have a matching Id supplied in ownerGroupIds or that match ownerUserId.   I trying to do a snapshot between SQLCE 3.5 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 by using the sync framework. I received a inner exception stated that "{"Unable to enumerate changes at the DbServerSyncProvider for table 'ArInvoice' in synchronization group 'ArInvoiceSyncTableSyncGroup'."}". The inner text for the inner exception stated that "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.". And the item for the inner exception indicated that "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user.". What is going wrong? Any setting i miss out?

• How to handle Append Only text fields in a Sharepoint DataSheet view?

  We've created a Sharepoint site to track a process. Eventually we're going to make a workflow out of it, but in the meantime there's a list we all have to look at which lists the various dates each piece is supposed to be finished. So basically My group needs to see and update columns X, Y, Z and Comments while ignoring the other 30 billion or so columns. Which is great in datasheet view because we can easily view our columns, and update them right there without drilling into the item and browsing through all the other crap we don't need. The problem is the Comments field, in which we really need to see the last actual comment made. Unfortunately whenever anyone saves the record the field is updated with a blank value (unless they entered a comment) and the last actual comment is lost unless you drill into the item. Is there some way to get the Datasheet view to show all the entries? I should also note that I know very little about Sharepoint 2007... so detailed answers would be nice!

  Hi guys, I keep on getting this error "error: expected specifier-qualifier-list for core data code im working with, in the app delegate. Now when i get this error and about 40 other errors relating to managedobjectcontext etc, i thought maybe the library needs to be imported. Now i havent done this before, but i went to Frameworks group and add existing frameworks and it added CoreData.framework. I re-build and it still came up with the error. Do I need to import anything in the headers explicitly or is there some other step i need to do? Thanks

  Can I run a select statement and get the row number if the items are sorted? I know I can do this in java when I get the result set back, but I was wondering if there was a way to handle it purely in SQL.

  Hi I'm trying to add zxing to my project (add a button which calls the scanner upon press). • Translate query to NHibernate

  I am trying to learn NHibernate, and am having difficulty translating a SQL query into one using the criteria API. The data model has tables: Part (Id, Name, ...), Order (Id, PartId, Qty), Shipment (Id, PartId, Qty) For all the parts I want to find the total quantity ordered and the total quantity shipped. In SQL I have: select shipment.part_id, sum(shipment.quantity), sum(order.quantity) from shipment cross join order on order.part_id = shipment.part_id group by shipment.part_id Alternatively: select id, (select sum(quantity) from shipment where part_id = part.id), (select sum(quantity) from order where part_id = part.id) from part But the latter query takes over twice as long to execute. Any suggestions on how to create these queries in (fluent) NHibernate? I have all the tables mapped and loading/saving/etc the entities works fine.

• ASP.NET MVC Get a list of users with particular profile properties

  Hi, I'm using ASP.NET MVC 1 and I have added a custom Profile class using the WebProfile Builder VS add-in (found here: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/WebProfileBuilder/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=980). On one of my forms I want a drop-down list of all users who share a specific profile value in common. I can see that I can get a list of all users using: Membership.GetAllUsers() However I cannot see how to get all users who have a specific profile value, which in my case is CellId. Am I approaching this in the right way? I have used membership roles to define which users are administrators etc, but profiles seems like the right place to group users. Any pointers both in specifics of how to access the user list but also comments on whether am I pursuing the right avenue here would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Sam

• Could the HTML 5 Video tag pick up an IP Multicast Stream?

  I've been researching methods of getting an IP Multicast over UDP to the browser, and have found little that suggests I would be able to do it without using a plug-in like Java, Flash, or Silverlight in order to open a UDP port and (somehow) render the video. Checking out the HTML 5 <video> spec, there is (obviously) little in the way of specific implementation details, so as far as I can tell, there is nothing stopping a browser from parsing a address of the form "udp://224.1.1.1:8000" and joining a multicast group on that IP/port. Is this a correct understanding? Or must the resource pointed to by the <source> be a file?

• Neural Network Output Grouping 0.5?

  I tried to write a Neural Network system, but even running through simple AND/OR/NOR type problems, the outputs seem to group around 0.5 (for a bias of -1) and 0.7 (for a bias of 1). It doesn't look exactly "wrong"... The 1,1 in the AND pattern does seem higher than the rest and the 0,0 in the OR looks lower, but they are still all grouped so it's debatable. I was wondering a) if there's some obvious mistake I've made or b) if there's any advice for debugging Neural Nets... seeing as you can't always track back exactly where an answer came from... Notice, however that the contentGroup is doesn't appear in the code above and that the controlBarGroup accepts child mxml components. Now say I want to create a custom component that defines various required and non-required skinparts, such as 'headerGroup', 'navigationGroup', and 'accountPreferencesGroup'. I'd like to write this custom component like this The motivation here is that I can now create a couple different skin files to change the look and layout of those subgroups. Reading source of the spark panel, there are some calls within the mx_internal namespace such as getMXMLContent() which is a method of the spark group component, but which I have no access to. Does the description above make sense? How can I create custom 'contentGroups' in my custom Flex4 component that can use nested mxml child components? Should I approach this a different way?

The current theory is to do something like SELECT Foo.*, BarCounts.counts FROM Foo LEFT JOIN ( SELECT fooId, COUNT(*) as counts FROM Bar GROUP BY fooId ) AS BarCounts ON Foo.id=BarCounts.fooId but with Criterias, and I just can't seem to figure out how.

• why use branches in svn?

  i know that you could organize your files according to this structure in svn: trunk branches tags that you copy the trunk to a folder in branches if you want to have a seperate development line. later on you merge this branch back to trunk. but i wonder why me and my group should do this. why should one copy the trunk to a branch and work with this copy just to merge it back to the trunk, and mean while the code is frequently updated/commited to stay in sync with the trunk. why not just work with the trunk then? what is the benefits with creating a branch? would be great if someone could shed a light on this topic. thanks in advance

  Hi can anyone tell me if its possible to write a cross tab query in JPQL? (I'm using eclipse link JPA2) An example of a cross tab query in SQL can found here http://onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2003/12/04/crosstabs.html SELECT dept, COUNT(CASE WHEN gender = 'm' THEN id ELSE NULL END) AS m, COUNT(CASE WHEN gender = 'f' THEN id ELSE NULL END) AS f, COUNT(*) AS total FROM person GROUP BY dept How can I do the same thing as a single query in JPQL? Looking at the spec it doesn't seem to look like CASE is valid in COUNT Is there any other way?

• class __init__ (not instance __init__)

  Here's a very simple example of what I'm trying to get around: class Test(object): some_dict = {Test: True} The problem is that I cannot refer to Test while it's still being defined Normally, I'd just do this: class Test(object): def __init__(self): self.__class__.some_dict = {Test: True} But I never create an instance of this class. It's really just a container to hold a group of related functions and data (I have several of these classes, and I pass around references to them, so it is necessary for Test to be it's own class) So my question is, how could I refer to Test while it's being defined, or is there something similar to __init__ that get's called as soon as the class is defined? If possible, I want self.some_dict = {Test: True} to remain inside the class definition. This is the only way I know how to do this so far: class Test(object): @classmethod def class_init(cls): cls.some_dict = {Test: True} Test.class_init()

• How do I create sub-applications in Django?

  I'm a Django newbie, but fairly experienced at programming. I have a set of related applications that I'd like to group into a sub-application but can not figure out how to get manage.py to do this for me. Ideally I'll end up with a structure like: project/ app/ subapp1/ subapp2/ I've tried: manage.py startapp app.subapp1 manage.py startapp app/subapp1 but this tells me that / and . are invalid characters for app names I've tried changing into the app directory and running ../manage.py subapp1 but that makes supapp1 at the top level. NOTE, I'm not trying to directly make a stand-alone application. I'm trying to do all this from within a project.
