  I have a base type where "business id" must be unique for a given subclass, but it is possible for there to be different subclasses with the same business id. If there is a base type with a requested id but of the wrong subclass I want to return null, using a named query. The code below does this, but I am wondering if I can avoid the try/catch with a better HQL. Can I? • Form value not passed to Seam bean after a4j reRender

  I'm making a webapp in Seam but ran into a problem I can't seem to fix. I have a JSF form where the customer can select a reservation type through a combobox. Based on the selected value, other form components gets rendered. For example: the customer selects Hours as reservation type, a panelGroup gets rendered where the customer can select a start- and an end hour. But if the customer would select 'part of the day' as reservation type, a selectOneMenu gets rendered where the customer can select a part of the day (morning, afternoon, evening) The rerendering well but the values of the components with a rendered conditional won't get passed to the bean. They stay null values.   Hey Everyone, This maybe a very mundane question, but this is the first jQuery plugin that I write and I'm a bit fuzzy on understanding the scope rules in Javascript. I'm trying to write an simple jQuery plugin that wraps around the Stack Overflow API. I'm starting off by trying to work with the Flair API. I wanted to make the plugin as configurable as possible so that you can easily pass it the domain and user id, and generate multiple Flairs. var superUser = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"superuser.com", id: 30162, parentId:'#su-flair'}); var stackOverflow = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"stackoverflow.com", id: 55954, parentId:'#so-flair'}); The problem is, when it makes the second call, its somehow using the correct domain and id parameters, but the parentId field that it's using in the callback function to create the html, is using the first parameter.   Is there an XPath way of recovering directly one specific attribute of preceding sibling nodes of an XML node using an XPath query?   i have a simple update query (foo column type is BOOLEAN (default false)): update tablename set foo = true where id = 234; which "id" is set to (primary) key, and if i run "explain analyze" i got: Index Cond: (id = 234) Total runtime: 0.358 ms but still, i have plenty of unexplained queries at slow log (pgfouine), which took more than 200s (?!): Times executed: 99, Av. duration (s): 70 can anyone please explain, whats the reason for that? (1.5 mio rows in table, postgresql 8.4)

The problem is : When an error is thrown, the html rendered changes so the description shows up below the select box, instead of beside it.   The code below show whiche thing that is failing in my appliaction. It is a quick add information form, fill out the form and submit it add a new entry into a database and synchronize my a databasle.. This is all done with ajax. The first form submission happens correctly but the second one fails to run the desired ActionListener. The second form is posting to the server though but the saveAction isn't invoke. As you will see, I'm a real beginner with this technologies ... • Simple Prototype.js code to select multiple elements with the same classname

  I have one link with an id of "link", and I use the javascript below to open that link up in a modalbox: #In my template I have: <a href="some/path" id="link">link</a> #Then in my application.js file I have: document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { $('login-link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500}); }); }) Since id's must be unique, this javascript only works for one element per page so I use it to observe my login-link and it has served me well. Until now. I want to use the same javascript to observe multiple links which have classnames instead of id's as below: <a href="link/to/some/stuff" class="link">link 1</a> <a href="link/to/some/other/stuff" class="link">link 2</a> When I do this, I can't get any of the links to open in a modalbox. If I change the class to an id for each link, then I can get the first link in the list to open in a modalbox. I've tried to use the '$$' notation to build an array of links in my javascript (shown below) but if I do that, then none of the links open correctly #document.observe method removed for display purposes $$('link').observe('click', function(event) { event.stop(); Modalbox.show(this.href,{title: 'some title', width: 500} ); }); My javascript skills obviously suck. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
