  What is the EASIEST way to do this. XOR 0x80 may be too obvious but that COULD work. Whats the easiest way to take a windows filename (/ \ and other chars are illegal) and scrambling them so no one knows the original filename? I would like to undo this as well. • Connecting to remote mysql database with API

  I am designing a desktop application in C#, which needs to be connected to my online mysql database. I tried to give access in control panel a "%" which means from any IP, but it is not working. May be the hosting provider (bigrock) not allowing that. Alternatively, I am trying to write some code in online on PHP which will get the "sql" as parameter and returns the output as JSON format using json_encode. Is there any alternate methods which is better approach.

This is what I primarily develop (on the side-for my own use). The site hasn't given me a great overview of why it may be better than other frameworks. Now, imagine that you need to get all the roles related to an user, wich may be through it's related groups or directly related to him. Could someone point me to the algorithm that I should use or an existing library (perhaps boost?) that has this functionality? • Is this the Crudy anti pattern?

  Currently I am creating a WCF service which has to connect to a DAL which, just connects to a database using ADO.net and stored procedures. The DAl writes its responses from the database to a datacontract which is passed over the wire to the client via the service. I was reading that this may possibly be the anti pattern 'CRudy Interface', but I wasn't sure as I am sharing the datacontract. If I am using an anti pattern, can anyone suggest a better pattern to use for the behavior I require? Thanks
