  • does php mysql_fetch_array works with html input box?

    - by dexter
    this is my entire PHP code: <?php if(empty($_POST['selid'])) {echo "no value selected"; } else { $con = mysql_connect("localhost","root",""); if(mysql_select_db("cdcol", $con)) { $sql= "SELECT * FROM products where Id = '$_POST[selid]'"; if($result=mysql_query($sql)) { echo "<form name=\"updaterow\" method=\"post\" action=\"dbtest.php\">"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "Id :<input type=\"text\" name=\"ppId\" value=".$row['Id']." READONLY></input></br>"; echo "Name :<input type=\"text\" name=\"pName\" value=".$row['Name']."></input></br>"; echo "Description :<input type=\"text\" name=\"pDesc\" value=".$row['Description']."></input></br>"; echo "Unit Price :<input type=\"text\" name=\"pUP\" value=".$row['UnitPrice']."></input></br>"; echo "<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"mode\" value=\"Update\"/>"; } echo "<input type=\"submit\" value=\"Update\">"; echo "</form>"; } else {echo "Query ERROR";} } } ?> PROBLEM here is, ....if the value i am getting from database using mysql_fetch_array($result) is like:(say Description is:) "my product" then; in input box it shows only "my" the word(or digit) after "SPACE"(ie blank space) doesn't get displayed? can input box like above can display the data with two or more words(separated by blank spaces)?

  • SQL Self Join Query Help

    - by hdoe123
Hi All, I'm trying to work out a query that self join itself on a table using the eventnumber. I've never done a self join before. What i'm trying to query is when a client has started off in a city which is chester to see what city they moved to. But I dont want to be able to see if they started off in another city. I would also like be only see the move once (So i'd only like to see if they went from chester to london rather then chester to london to wales) The StartTimeDate is the same EndDateTime if they moved to another city. Data example as follows if they started off in the city chester :- clientid EventNumber City StartDateTime EndDateTime 1 1 Chester 10/03/2009 11/04/2010 13:00 1 1 Liverpool 11/04/2010 13:00 30/06/2010 16:00 1 1 Wales 30/07/2010 16:00 the result I would like to see is on the 2nd row - so it only shows me liverpool. Could anyone point in the right direcetion please?

  • Data sync solution?

    - by user321088
For some security issues I'm in an envorinment where third party apps can't access my DB. For this reason I should have some service/tool/script (dunno what yet... i'm open to the best option, still reading to see what I'm gonna do...) which enables me to generate on a regular basis(daily, weekly, monthly) some csv file with all new/modified records for a certain application. I should be able to automate this process and also export at any time a new file. So it should keep track for each application which records he still needs. Each application will need some data in some other format (csv/xls/sql), also some fields will be needed for some application and some aren't... It should be fairly flexible... What is the best option for me? Creating some custom tables for each application? Based on that extracting modified data?

  • SubSonic: MySqlDataReader closes connection.

    - by SchlaWiener
I am using SubSonic 2.1 and entcountered a problem while executing a Transaction with SharedDbConnectionScope and TransactionScope. The problem is that in the obj.Save() method I get an "The connection must be valid and open" exception I tracked down the problem to this line: // Loads a SubSonic ActiveRecord object User user = new User(User.Columns.Username, "John Doe"); in this Constructor of the User class a method "LoadParam" is called which eventually does if (rdr != null) rdr.Close(); It looks like the rdr.Close() implicitly closes my connection which is fine when using the AutomaticConnection. But during a transaction it is usally not a good idea to close the connection :-) My Question is if this is by design or if it's an error in the MySqlDataReader.

  • Reading a CSV with file_get_contents in PHP

    - by JPro
    I am reading a 'kind' of csv file and exploding it and storing it in array. The file I am reading has this structure Id,Log,Res,File mydb('Test1','log1','Pass','lo1.txt'). mydb('Test2','log2','Pass','lo2.txt'). mydb('Test3','log3','Pass','lo3.txt'). Now what I am trying to do is : reading the last record in my database, get the Name, lets say in this case 'Test1' and then I am searching through my file and where I can find the position of 'Test1' and get the next lines in the file, extract the ID,s and add it to database. I am getting the position of desired string in the file, but I am not sure how to get the next lines too. Here's my code so far. <?php mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("testing") or die(mysql_error()); $result = mysql_query("select ID from table_1 order by S_no DESC limit 1") or die(mysql_error()); $row = mysql_fetch_array( $result ); $a = $row['ID']; echo 'Present Top Row is '.$a.'<br>'; $addresses = explode("\n", file_get_contents('\\\\fil1\\logs\\tes.pl')); foreach($addresses as $val) { $pos = strstr($val, $a); if ($pos === false) { } else { echo "The string <br> '$a' <br>was found in the string <br>'$val' <br>"; echo " and exists at position <br>$pos<br>"; } }

  • One table, need multiple values from different rows/tuples

    - by WmasterJ
    I have tables like: 'profile_values' userID | fid | value -------+---------+------- 1 | 3 | [email protected] 1 | 45 | 203-234-2345 3 | 3 | [email protected] 1 | 45 | 123-456-7890 And: 'users' userID | name -------+------- 1 | joe 2 | jane 3 | jake I want to join them and have one row with two of the values like: 'profile_values' userID | name | email | phone -------+-------+----------------+-------------- 1 | joe | [email protected] | 203-234-2345 2 | jane | [email protected] | 123-456-7890 I have solved it but it feels clumsy and I want to know if there is a better way to do it. Meaning solutions that are either more readable or faster(optimized) or simply best-practice. Current solution: multiple tables selected, many conditional statements: SELECT u.userID AS memberid, u.name AS first_name, pv1.value AS fname, pv2.value as lname FROM users AS u, profile_values AS pv1, profile_values AS pv2, WHERE u.userID = pv1.userID AND pv1.fid = 3 AND u.userID = pv2.userID AND pv2.fid = 45; Thanks for the help!

  • Codeigniter: Combining activeRecord with manual queries?

    - by Industrial
Hi everybody, I've though a bit about the activerecord vs. manual queries in Codeigniter. ActiveRecord is awesome when it's all about standard queries and holds development time really low. However, when there's a need to add some complexity to the queries, the ActiveRecord gets quite complicated to work with. Sub queries or complex joins gives atleast me a lot of headache. Since the current "$this-db-query" -call immediately executes the set query, it can't be combined with normal activeRecord calls. So, what can I do to combine the two methods? Thanks!

  • How do I delete a foreign key in SQLAlchemy?

    - by Travis
I'm using SQLAlchemy Migrate to keep track of database changes and I'm running into an issue with removing a foreign key. I have two tables, t_new is a new table, and t_exists is an existing table. I need to add t_new, then add a foreign key to t_exists. Then I need to be able to reverse the operation (which is where I'm having trouble). t_new = sa.Table("new", meta.metadata, sa.Column("new_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True) ) t_exists = sa.Table("exists", meta.metadata, sa.Column("exists_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True), sa.Column( "new_id", sa.types.Integer, sa.ForeignKey("new.new_id", onupdate="CASCADE", ondelete="CASCADE"), nullable=False ) ) This works fine: t_new.create() t_exists.c.new_id.create() But this does not: t_exists.c.new_id.drop() t_new.drop() Trying to drop the foreign key column gives an error: 1025, "Error on rename of '.\my_db_name\#sql-1b0_2e6' to '.\my_db_name\exists' (errno: 150)" If I do this with raw SQL, i can remove the foreign key manually then remove the column, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the foreign key with SQLAlchemy? How can I remove the foreign key, and then the column?

  • Shouldn't prepared statements be much faster?

    - by silversky
    $s = explode (" ", microtime()); $s = $s[0]+$s[1]; $con = mysqli_connect ('localhost', 'test', 'pass', 'db') or die('Err'); for ($i=0; $i<1000; $i++) { $stmt = $con -> prepare( " SELECT MAX(id) AS max_id , MIN(id) AS min_id FROM tb "); $stmt -> execute(); $stmt->bind_result($M,$m); $stmt->free_result(); $rand = mt_rand( $m , $M ).'<br/>'; $res = $con -> prepare( " SELECT * FROM tb WHERE id >= ? LIMIT 0,1 "); $res -> bind_param("s", $rand); $res -> execute(); $res->free_result(); } $e = explode (" ", microtime()); $e = $e[0]+$e[1]; echo number_format($e-$s, 4, '.', ''); // and: $link = mysql_connect ("localhost", "test", "pass") or die (); mysql_select_db ("db") or die ("Unable to select database".mysql_error()); for ($i=0; $i<1000; $i++) { $range_result = mysql_query( " SELECT MAX(`id`) AS max_id , MIN(`id`) AS min_id FROM tb "); $range_row = mysql_fetch_object( $range_result ); $random = mt_rand( $range_row->min_id , $range_row->max_id ); $result = mysql_query( " SELECT * FROM tb WHERE id >= $random LIMIT 0,1 "); } defenitly prepared statements are much more safer but also every where it says that they are much faster BUT in my test on the above code I have: - 2.45 sec for prepared statements - 5.05 sec for the secon example What do you think I'm doing wrong? Should I use the second solution or I should try to optimize the prep stmt?

  • Grouping records from while loop | PHP

I'm trying to group down records by their priority levels, e.g. --- Priority: High --- Records... --- Priority: Medium --- Records... --- Priority: Low --- Records... Something like that, how do I do that in PHP? The while loop orders records by the priority column which has int value (high = 3, medium = 2, low = 1). e.g. WHERE priority = '1' The label: "Priority: [priority level]" has to be set above the grouped records regarding their level

  • When *not* to use prepared statements?

    - by Ben Blank
I'm re-engineering a PHP-driven web site which uses a minimal database. The original version used "pseudo-prepared-statements" (PHP functions which did quoting and parameter replacement) to prevent injection attacks and to separate database logic from page logic. It seemed natural to replace these ad-hoc functions with an object which uses PDO and real prepared statements, but after doing my reading on them, I'm not so sure. PDO still seems like a great idea, but one of the primary selling points of prepared statements is being able to reuse them… which I never will. Here's my setup: The statements are all trivially simple. Most are in the form SELECT foo,bar FROM baz WHERE quux = ? ORDER BY bar LIMIT 1. The most complex statement in the lot is simply three such selects joined together with UNION ALLs. Each page hit executes at most one statement and executes it only once. I'm in a hosted environment and therefore leery of slamming their servers by doing any "stress tests" personally. Given that using prepared statements will, at minimum, double the number of database round-trips I'm making, am I better off avoiding them? Can I use PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_DIRECT_QUERY to avoid the overhead of multiple database trips while retaining the benefit of parametrization and injection defense? Or do the binary calls used by the prepared statement API perform well enough compared to executing non-prepared queries that I shouldn't worry about it? EDIT: Thanks for all the good advice, folks. This is one where I wish I could mark more than one answer as "accepted" — lots of different perspectives. Ultimately, though, I have to give rick his due… without his answer I would have blissfully gone off and done the completely Wrong Thing even after following everyone's advice. :-) Emulated prepared statements it is!

  • Limit a user to view only associated records in rails

    - by trobrock
I have an application with three Models (Profile - SubModel - SubSubModel) chained together with has many relationships. I am trying to limit a user, after logging in, to only retrieving records that are associated with their Profile. I am very new to rails and this is what I had been trying in the Profile model has_many :submodels, :conditions => {:profile_id => self.id} but this is returning an empty data set when calling with Profile.find_by_id(1).submodels, how else could I achieve what I am trying to do. Or should I handle this in the controller or view instead, I thought it sounded well suited for the model to handle this.

  • Suggest product catalog script/framework in PHP which doesn't displays product price

    - by Amit Kumar Jha
Hey all, I am new to web development and have this project in hand where in I have to build a product catalogue. I don't want any cart functionality or other such features, I just want to display the products, their specifications and images etc. on the website and give my client an admin panel to manage products. Now I looked into various PHP shopping cart scripts but couldn't find a way to remove price info from the display. I am not experienced enough in web development to make a product catalogue from scratch so if you guys could point me out in right direction I would be very grateful. If you could give me link to some shopping cart or cataloguing script or any other way to accomplish the task it would help me out a lot.. Thanks in advance to all those who reply.

  • How do I set ORDER BY params using prepated PDO statement?

    - by Marlorn
I'm having problems using params in the ORDER BY section of my SQL. It doesn't issue any warnings, but prints out nothing. $order = 'columnName'; $direction = 'ASC'; $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT field from table WHERE column = :my_param ORDER BY :order :direction"); $stmt->bindParam(':my_param', $is_live, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':order', $order, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':direction', $direction, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->execute(); The :my_param works, but not :order or :direction. Is it not being internally escaped correctly? Am I stuck inserting it directly in the SQL? Like so: $order = 'columnName'; $direction = 'ASC'; $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT * from table WHERE is_live = :is_live ORDER BY $order $direction"); Is there a PDO::PARAM_COLUMN_NAME constant or some equivalent? Thanks!

  • Planning management slots/sessions

I have a planning structure on two tables to store available slots by day, and sessions. A slot is defined by a range of time in the day. CREATE TABLE slot ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT , `date` date , `start` time , `end` time ); Sessions can't overlap themselves and must be wrapped in a slot.
